Just goes to show that omnipotent beings from out of space know diddly squat about Pink Floyd. That said I would have put Obscured by Clouds at number 37 too.
I didn't feel pain but just sat here shaking my head and going WTF? To be fair I don't disagree on all of the placings, but some of them were just bizarre, though I do agree on Atom Heart Mother - I love that one as it was my earliest memory of Pink Floyd. On the other hand, calling Comfortably Numb "overrated" is just unforgivable O_O
“And then one day you find 31:32 minutes have got behind you No one told you when to run…”😊 Thanks for for putting this together it looks like a lot of work.
My top 10 (incredibly tough!) 10. One of These Days 9. Hey You 8. Money 7. Sheep 6. In The Flesh? 5. Shine On You Crazy Diamond 4. Time 3. Comfortably Numb 2. High Hopes 1. Echoes (Live in Pompeii) I know I cheated with including the live cut at Number 1, but Gilmour on that live track is the greatest thing humans have ever done. Honorable mentions- Young Lust, Learning to Fly, Wish You Were Here, Brain Damage, Coming Back to Life
Don't you like the Live in Gdansk Comfortably Numb too? The extended solo Gilmours did is glorious, and the song actually has and end. Also, the organ keys sounds nice one the back and it's well mastered +The cheering at the end al him saluting and wishing good night The wish you where here version of that show is nice too. I like the Piano solo they added
My top 10 would be: 10. The Trial 9. Us and Them 8. Pigs 7. Coming Back To Life 6. Comfortably Numb 5. Echoes 4. Eclipse 3. Brain Damage 2. Dogs 1. Shine on
my personal favourites would be: -Arnold Layne -Take Up thy Stethoscope and Walk -Interstellar Overdrive -Jugband Blues -Careful with that Axe Eugene (Live pompeii version) -Atom Heart Mother -Fearless -Echoes -Shine on you Crazy Diamond (both parts) -Dogs (I prefer the early version named "you've got to be crazy") -What Shall we Do now? (ik technically not on the album but I still count it) -One of my Turns/Don't Leave me now/Another Brick in the Wall pt.3 I'm not personally a big fan of DSOTM since it never really clicked with me, nor am I a fan of their 80s era (if i want good 80s art/prog rock I'd go to King Crimson or Talking Heads) and I loved the earlier days of PF a lot, so I'm definitely biased.
I'm glad to hear someone else say they aren't a huge DSotM fan. It's a great album, don't get me wrong, and it's what introduced me to Pink Floyd, but I've always felt like I *have* to like it more than I do just because it's the "greatest album of all time" or whatever. Again, great album, just there are better PF albums.
My top 10: 1. Wearing the Inside Out 2. Comfortably Numb 3. Pigs (Three Different Ones) 4. Summer '68 5. Run Like Hell 6. Obscured by Clouds 7. Your Possible Pasts 8. Us and Them 9. Time 10. One of These Days

Saucerful of Secrets (Live At Pompeii 1972) 24. Set Controls For The Heart of The Sun Probably my top 20 something, maybe not it doesn't really matter the order, take a wild guess at which albums I havent listened to yet. I love all of these. You nailed Echoes, somehow you put it in the perfect words.
objectively I think it's ok your opinion. Clearly Young lust includes (if the 12nd is combined) Empty Spaces (damn, together ara crazy, too much underrated for me). I appriciate you put the 6-9 parts of SOYCD over the 1-5, i agree with that. The second late of the vinyl "the final cut" for me is a single song before Not now John. And when I hear this late... no word, just goosbumps. Idk if "time" is overrated or not, but i like your thouts, any colour you like is better for me too. But, in this list ( and i'm in the roger waters's faction) high hopes and coming back to life (pulse) are really too good, and i think u can find a place for these two here. Us and them man, it is a top 10. However, great taste dude.
@@giuliopiccolo7215 I havent actually listend to Pink Floyd after thier Final Cut breakup or any of Gilmour or Roger's solo work. Maybe consider adding them but i dont get too crazy about rankings anyway, Jugband is one of my favorite songs ever yet i still think that other floyd songs are better or more complete or whatever.
What in the r/pinkfloyd tarnation is going on with the Trial being so high? The Trial utterly destroys the catharsis of The Wall. Album should have ended with Comfortably Numb. All of side four is filler with the exception of the still overrated Run Like Hell.
@@FaithCrisisSurvivor Idk if i should have it that high but i fucking love it. Ending with Comfortably Numb would leave the narrative unfinished on a descent into madness without any sort of repireve or answer. Amazing song, but finale? ehh
Personally even though i wouldn't ever listen to speak to me on its own, I think it's an amazing introduction. It gives a piece of every song. Really just shows what your getting into
If you feel so strongly you should create your own ranking that pleases everyone in the community without making a single person upset. I think that would be a grand idea
My favorite is without a doubt the comfortably numb. I don't know why, but in this song, I feel something I can't describe that I can't feel in any Pink Floyd song. I admire the way you evaluated the songs, the arguments, and the criteria. Success for you.
my ranking 1. Wish You Were Here 2. Marooned 3. Brain Damage 4. Shine On You Crazy Diamond 1-5 5. Comfortably Numb 6. Breathe (In The Air) 7. Time 8. Us and Them 9. Hey You 10. On The Turning Away
Without echoes there is no dark side of the moon with out dark side of the moon no wish you were here no wish you were here no animals without animals no dogs echoes is what created pink floyd
my opinion 9. shine on you crazy diamond 8. sorrow 7. another brick pt.2 6. atom heart mother (the start) 5. high hopes 4. money 3. echoes 2. time 1. confortably numb ( the live versions ) pulse and pompeii
For me the top 10 songs would most likely be: 10. Have a Cigar - just a really good song overall, I mostly play it to just chill 9. In the flesh - chose the second version because it's longer, the vocals just do it for me, it really sounds as if it was said by a madman 8. Thin Ice - For me the most biased take, just the solo at the end is magical enough to bring me back to the Wall 7. See Emily Play - I saw it once, didn't bother to listen to it, then started having a really strong urge to listen to it, did it and I just felt like I knew this song my entire life 6. Any colour you like - Really basic but the middle part is a lot of fun and s really good transition beetwen Us & Them and Brain Damage 5. Waiting for the Worms - Kind of the same as In the flesh, but the Comfortambly Numb solo is in the end, also most likely the climax of the Wall 4. Shine on you crazy diamond - I have a lot of fun with it every time a listen to it, really grew to love every single minute of it, the only thing is I constantly switch beetween liking one part over another 3. Run Like Hell - I must admit the 80-81 version really convinced me it's a great song, before it was just an OK transition between In the Flesh and Waiting for the Worms 2. Dogs - Even though I didn't put a single song besides Dogs from it, I really think Animals is the best Pink Floyd album, and Dogs is really the essence of what makes this album so great, I especially like the end, it's just what gives me an eargasm every single time I listen to it, the way Roger sings the "Who was dragged down by the stone?" man, I do not have the words to describe how I love this song. 1. Us and Them - Well, I do think it is the best song overall, I can't say anything bad about it, but just to describe why I love it so much you would just experience what I did, and I really hope you do Have a nice day
god I adore the second "in the flesh". the way he mentioned it as the "racist one" in this list, even though it was said as a joke, made me think he didn't quite understand the true feels you get from this song
A lot of songs ranking I disagree with. But the top ten were extremely agreeable. I never expected atom heart mother to be that high but it is an extremely unique and fascinating song
finally, someone who truly appreciates The Trial. pretty much everyone who's been to the live show in the 80s has stated its one of the most epic moments they've ever witnessed on stage. my favorite song from pink floyd is probably Echoes. but many other song are tied in second place for me: Dogs - has the greatest guitar solo i've ever heard in my life. if you know, you know. I wish there were a little more things added to it from You've Gotta Be Crazy (the og version of the song) and i personally think the song should be named Wolves instead. I get how the last lyrics of the song describes a Dog specifically (one who is trained to cause harm), but those lyrics could've been changed to fit the title of "Wolves." In my eyes, Dogs are loyal and protectors of society. Dogs protect the Sheep from the Wolves. Being a paladin does come with its price, and i feel like if Pink Floyd wrote about societies' heroes, it would've been a good addition to the album, as i believe there should be a few more songs. now i get the reason why the song's name is a reference to the book Animal Farm (from what I've heard), but we all know that wolves and coyotes are sometimes known to sneak onto farms and kill the sheep, cows, pigs, etc. anyways, the name isn't detrimental and the song is still a masterpiece, both lyrically and sound-wise. Shine On You (both song) - i love both for different reasons. i love the sax part towards the end of the first song and i love the jazzy part in the end of the second song. the guitar solos are amazing as well. Atom Heart Mother - it's one of my favorites for the same reasons you mentioned. i don't get why anyone would put it low in a ranking. i feel like those are people who listened to the first couple of minutes of the song and just was too lazy to listen to the whole thing. i just wish the sound quality was a little sharper. same with Dogs and many of the other songs on Animals. and i know many people would read that and say that there was a remastered version of Animals, and although many special effects and keyboard tracks sound sharper, there are some issues i have with it, such as the lack of reverb and the guitars sounding weirdly muted. The Machine - this is, lyrically, one of my favorite songs in Pink Floyd. i don't know if it was intentional but its like the song is about two different things. for a while i thought the song was just about entering into the music industry and being "welcomed" into it (the machine). but i also think its about a parent welcoming their child into the real world (the machine). when i look it up, the song could also be about a "dystopic vision of the present or the future society in which we live; this society is depicted as a machine that shapes our lives since our birth." i found that on www.genius.com but i don't know how reliable Genius is. this song is an underated masterpiece in my eyes. even though i can see how it could be overshadowed by Shine and Wish You Were Here, i still feel like it was almost or just as good, but in different ways. Sound-wise, i agree with what you said about this song. and Gilmour's singing sounds amazing. i just dont like how Roger Waters kept trying to sing alongside Gilmour during the live performances. Have a Cigar - Lyrically, i think this song was edited less and contributed less by other members of the band. i feel like this was almost exclusively written by Roger Waters because i feel it matches his style of "beat you over the head " impactful songwriting than other songs like The Machine and Dogs. i feel like this is one of the best songs he's ever written and i do truly believe the song has one of the best Hooks of any other song. the song also feels so unique. there are parts of this song that give me this weird form of anxiety and a sense of excitement. Time and Money - i feel like these songs are truly meant to be loved equally. i disagree with you when you say that Learning to Fly is Floyd's most catchy song. i feel like Money is more catchy, it's just far more complex and its longer. Money has one of my fav guitar solos of all time and Gilmour sings this song better than almost any other song in Pink Floyd. Time also has one of my favorite Guitar solos and the end of the song is sang beautiful as always. here are some other songs i don't love as much as the ones i've just mentioned but are still some of my favorite songs of all time. Pigs - this song has one of the best baselines I've ever heard Sheep - Roger Water's best singing performance ever in my opinion Mother - Mother's guitar solo is criminally underrated. especially the extended solo Gilmour plays in live performances. the song completely takes you off your feet. and i remember almost crying and shitting myself when i first heard this song. Run Like Hell (Live Version) - i much prefer this song live than the recorded version, but of course the recorded version is amazing. i love how both Gilmour and Waters sing the song. In my opinions, i feel like Waters sang a little too much in the second half of The Wall. i feel like he should've written more parts for Gilmour and maybe even Write. What Do You Want From Me - i agree with you when you say this is the best song on the division bell. it's one of the most impactful songs Gilmour wrote in the album Summer '68 - one of the most underrated and one of the best songs from Pink Floyd. This song completely wiped its ass with If and Fat Old Sun (which are both good songs but nowhere near as good as this one). Astronomie Dominie - i agree with what you said and this song is amazing when performed live. it actually surprised me of how good it could sound Comfortably Numb, Another Brick 2, In The Flesh, and The Trial - i do agree that this song is overrated. I like Mother and Another Brick Part 2 better than this but the solos in this song are two of some of the best solos i've ever heard. i love both the same but in different way. I just wish the song ended with a better transition to the next song cuz i remember listening to the album, thinking this was the last song since its the only song in the album that ends. i think this song is prob the best song in the second half of the album, though In The Flesh and The Trial are both close seconds for different reasons. Every other song in DSOTM i haven't mentioned there is more but this comment is already too damn long.
This list was a bit controversial but also pretty great. I disagreed with but appreciated the mid placement for division bell and momentary lapse because I really like both albums (especially the former) and loved your placement of dogs and atom heart mother, two of their absolute best. Great list mate, gonna respectfully disagree in a lot of places but also agree on plenty as well
My top 10 would be. 10 astronomy domine 9- corporal clegg 8-Jugband blues 7- What do you want from me 6- have a cigar 5- money 4- Another Brick In the Wall part 2 3- Brain Damage 2-Eclipse 1-Time
Here are my favourites: - Echoes - Time - The Great Gig in the Sky - Us and Them - Welcome to the Machine - Dogs - Pigs (Three Different One’s) - Sheep - Another Brick in the Wall - Part 1/2 + Happiest Days of our Lives - Marooned
I unironically like Several Species... way better than A new machine for example. And Grantchester Meadows is in my Top 10 personally. But I respect your putting Atom Heart Mother so high. That's my favorite Pink Floyd song.
My favorites are: -Dogs -Another Brick in the Wall -Pigs (3 different ones) - Atom Heart Mother - Cymbaline - Hey You - Childhoods end - Money - SOYCD - Time (not in any particular order)
Weird ranking, though from a mainstream music/hit perspective it somewhat makes sense for slow and more psychedelic stuff to do worse. Pink floyd is definitely album based for the mast part. Also some your takes have me on the floor hahaha

I just realized how much this guy likes Animals, and I completely agree! I have a friend who doesn't like Sheep, and I cannot understand how anybody would feel that way. I'm also glad you rated Atom Heart Mother so high, I love it so much.

9:36 thats because on the album its missing its "second part" called What shall we do now, which they played live and it was on The Wall film too. edit: 19:18 well... you gotta link those two together :D
I admire the effort at ranking PF's individual songs. I'd struggle with how to include or rank transitional or segue songs, the instrumental songs off the soundtracks. Plus, I'd likely rank the multi-part songs from Ummagumma together (Sysyphus 1-4 as one track, even if it's sequenced into 4 parts, for example). But I would have included the single and b-sides that were commercially released on Relics. Now, it would get really tricky when you take into account the Early Years 7 volume box--I'd probably just omit those.
Though I thought you had a few of my favorites underrated you totally redeemed yourself with Atom Heart Mother. I agree that song to so unique and Undervalued.
For me this is my top 1. Echoes 2. Time 3. The Happiest Day Of Our Lives 4. Shine On Your Crazy Diamond (1-9) 5. Pigs (Three Different Ones) 6. Atom Heart Mother 7. Welcome To The Machine 8. A New Machine Pt2. 9. A Sucerful Of Secrets 10. Have a Cigar

It really hurt to see Remember A Day and Paintbox so low but I guess you are a being from space who is never wrong, oh well. Fun fact: empty spaces feels like a lot was cut off it, because it actually was. Or at least, kinda. This was a short reprise of the song What Shall We Do Now that was cut out, then put in What Shall We Do Now's place when the lp side got too long.
I didn't expect Atom Heart Mother to be at the top of your list. I also like it. If I had to take away one thing from this video it's that you like a variety of songs from many of the albums.
you say empty spaces isn't good but you like the direction it is going in, it goes directly into young lust. that is the point of most of their "filler bridge" songs. these songs are important to the albums and make the following songs so much better
First disagreement, Cirrus Minor. Second. Wots Uh The Deal, best song on the album. Caveat, I only like On the Turning Away and High Hopes from the post Waters era so the rest would be way lower for me. Third, jesus christ Fearless is a masterpiece. Fourth Remember a Day. Fifth. Fat Old Sun is my favourite song of all time from my favourite album. Sixth, Hey You, best song on the album imo. Agreement, The Gnome is my favourite on Piper. Seventh, Learning to fly is a borderline pop song, hate it. I'm at Echoes so I'll give my top 5. Fat Old Sun, Atom Heart Mother, Echoes, Shine on You Crazy Diamond(All of it) , The Great Gig In The Sky. This was great, I obviously disagree on many things but I don't think I could do this. I'd get lost in it all.
Here as some of my favs: Shine On You Crazy Diamond (both parts) Echoes (also live Pompeii version) Time Have A Cigar Wish You were Here Welcome to the machine Us and Them Dogs Pigs (three different ones) Sheep Atom Heart Mother suite I have more songs i love from the but i these are just a few and my fav Pink Floyd album is Wish You Were Here
i fucking love this tier list, (natural bias since i fucking looove one of these days, the trial, summer 68 one of my turns and san tropez) i ironically like several species however, but i'll respect your opinions
I believe Round And Round actually used to actually just be on the same track as Yet Another Movie, before the Discovery box set came out. Since then, it’s been counted as an individual track for some reason.
I was upset at how you dare put Wot's Uh The Deal and Burning Bridges so low but I immediately forgave you after seeing where you put The Trial and Atom Heart Mother because those two are their most underrated songs ❤

Pretty good list, but The Trial??? For me that is definitely in my bottom 10. Hardly any Pink Floyd in it, just a load of wailing to an orchestra.
You lost me immediatly with the trial
Caught RED HANDED showing…feeling, showing feeeeling of an almost…HUMAN NATURE! This will NOT do… CALL THE SKOOL MASTA
my personal favourites would be:
-Arnold Layne
-Take Up thy Stethoscope and Walk
-Interstellar Overdrive
-Jugband Blues
-Careful with that Axe Eugene (Live pompeii version)
-Atom Heart Mother
-Fearless
-Echoes
-Shine on you Crazy Diamond (both parts)
-Dogs (I prefer the early version named "you've got to be crazy")
-What Shall we Do now? (ik technically not on the album but I still count it)
-One of my Turns/Don't Leave me now/Another Brick in the Wall pt.3
I'm not personally a big fan of DSOTM since it never really clicked with me, nor am I a fan of their 80s era (if i want good 80s art/prog rock I'd go to King Crimson or Talking Heads) and I loved the earlier days of PF a lot, so I'm definitely biased.
The live at pompeii version is my favorite version of Careful.
Seeing a Take Up Thy Stethoscope and Walk enjoyer is healing the world

Probably my top 20 something, maybe not it doesn't really matter the order, take a wild guess at which albums I havent listened to yet.
Respectfully have to ask what about Time?
What in the r/pinkfloyd tarnation is going on with the Trial being so high? The Trial utterly destroys the catharsis of The Wall. Album should have ended with Comfortably Numb. All of side four is filler with the exception of the still overrated Run Like Hell.
@@FaithCrisisSurvivor Idk if i should have it that high but i fucking love it. Ending with Comfortably Numb would leave the narrative unfinished on a descent into madness without any sort of repireve or answer. Amazing song, but finale? ehh
"Coming back to life" is so underrated man😭 probably my favourite song of the Gilmour era

Personally even though i wouldn't ever listen to speak to me on its own, I think it's an amazing introduction. It gives a piece of every song. Really just shows what your getting into

This type of ranking is what you get when Gen Z discovers Floyd and decides to rank their songs about a month later.

For me the top 10 songs would most likely be:
10. Have a Cigar - just a really good song overall, I mostly play it to just chill
9. In the flesh - chose the second version because it's longer, the vocals just do it for me, it really sounds as if it was said by a madman
8. Thin Ice - For me the most biased take, just the solo at the end is magical enough to bring me back to the Wall
7. See Emily Play - I saw it once, didn't bother to listen to it, then started having a really strong urge to listen to it, did it and I just felt like I knew this song my entire life
6. Any colour you like - Really basic but the middle part is a lot of fun and s really good transition beetwen Us & Them and Brain Damage
5. Waiting for the Worms - Kind of the same as In the flesh, but the Comfortambly Numb solo is in the end, also most likely the climax of the Wall
4. Shine on you crazy diamond - I have a lot of fun with it every time a listen to it, really grew to love every single minute of it, the only thing is I constantly switch beetween liking one part over another
3. Run Like Hell - I must admit the 80-81 version really convinced me it's a great song, before it was just an OK transition between In the Flesh and Waiting for the Worms
1. Us and Them - Well, I do think it is the best song overall, I can't say anything bad about it, but just to describe why I love it so much you would just experience what I did, and I really hope you do
Have a nice day
A lot of your top ten are my favorites too
god I adore the second "in the flesh". the way he mentioned it as the "racist one" in this list, even though it was said as a joke, made me think he didn't quite understand the true feels you get from this song

finally, someone who truly appreciates The Trial. pretty much everyone who's been to the live show in the 80s has stated its one of the most epic moments they've ever witnessed on stage.
my favorite song from pink floyd is probably Echoes. but many other song are tied in second place for me:
Dogs - has the greatest guitar solo i've ever heard in my life. if you know, you know.
Pigs - this song has one of the best baselines I've ever heard
Sheep - Roger Water's best singing performance ever in my opinion
Mother - Mother's guitar solo is criminally underrated. especially the extended solo Gilmour plays in live performances. the song completely takes you off your feet. and i remember almost crying and shitting myself when i first heard this song.
What Do You Want From Me - i agree with you when you say this is the best song on the division bell. it's one of the most impactful songs Gilmour wrote in the album
Summer '68 - one of the most underrated and one of the best songs from Pink Floyd. This song completely wiped its ass with If and Fat Old Sun (which are both good songs but nowhere near as good as this one).
Astronomie Dominie - i agree with what you said and this song is amazing when performed live. it actually surprised me of how good it could sound
Comfortably Numb, Another Brick 2, In The Flesh, and The Trial - i do agree that this song is overrated.
Every other song in DSOTM i haven't mentioned
there is more but this comment is already too damn long.
Comfortably Numb is overrated??? Excuse me... but this is totally wrong...

I disagreed with but appreciated the mid placement for division bell and momentary lapse because I really like both albums (especially the former) and loved your placement of dogs and atom heart mother, two of their absolute best.
Thank you. My thoughts exactly. Sysyphus 1-4 are a master piece when combined. One of my favorite pieces.

Fun fact: empty spaces feels like a lot was cut off it, because it actually was. Or at least, kinda.
This was a short reprise of the song What Shall We Do Now that was cut out, then put in What Shall We Do Now's place when the lp side got too long.

20:40 "It's the racist version"
That's how me and my friends have referred to it since we first listened to it

Thanku very much appreciated
i fucking love this tier list, (natural bias since i fucking looove one of these days, the trial, summer 68 one of my turns and san tropez) i ironically like several species however, but i'll respect your opinions
I think the one top we can all agree is Small Pieces being at the very last.
I do respect your opinions as well, but from another space monkey, COMFORTABLY NUMB AT 25!!!!!! WHATTT
Putting jugband blues at #92?
Set the controls of the heart of the sun way too low
I respect your respect for Corporal Clegg though
loved this video. keep them coming
Starting off with ssosfagiacagwap at last is just wrong. It’s the best Pink Floyd
I believe Round And Round actually used to actually just be on the same track as Yet Another Movie, before the Discovery box set came out. Since then, it’s been counted as an individual track for some reason.
I guess he doesn't like Pink Floyd.
I was upset at how you dare put Wot's Uh The Deal and Burning Bridges so low but I immediately forgave you after seeing where you put The Trial and Atom Heart Mother because those two are their most underrated songs ❤
A MOMENTARY LAPSE OF REASON BRINGS PURE JOY TO MY MIND. I CANNOT FUNCTION WITHOUT THIS ALBUM.
Me too

4:36 I swear. The live at Pompeii version is god tier
I agree 100%
"The Last Few Bricks" exists only as a way to set up "Goodbye Cruel World" in a live setting. It's a time filler, basically...I don't even think it qualifies as a song...oh, and I like Round and Around. Great list!
18:49 I'd say it was High Hopes myself
If at 127 is criminal.
