Thank you so very much for making this video. My husband is a brand new CDL driver and I have been trying to help him understand the trip planning part of this job and it has become very challenging because I don’t understand the job but today your video made so much sense to me that I know now I can probably help him, understand the tablet and trip plan and what’s important to keep track of so thank you very much for making this video. I truly appreciate you guys. This is the first video out of so many that I’ve seen that yours made the most sense.🙏🏽❤️ thank you again!! Life savers😂
@@nena4921 We are so glad our video was helpful!!! Thanks for letting us know! Best of luck to you and your husband! At the beginning it’s a very steep learning curve. That was the most in-depth explanation I've ever heard, and since I have Werner on my mind, very helpful. Thanks so much for y'all's time! "Thoth" bless...

Your insights and ideas provide such a great foundation for me. My werner trainer basically had me hold the wheel while he went to sleep and other than that he sort of mumbled and pointed at stuff. I'm sure many out there can relate. Good mentors are needed in this industry!! Thanks again for all you do!
Hi there, Antonio!!! Thanks for subscribing and welcome to our community!!! Congratulations on your new career path!!! Phoenix is our home terminal too! We hope you have a great experience with your leader!!! Remember to ask lots of questions and try to learn as much as possible!!! Good luck and see you on the road!!
Thank you guys for all the explanations are so helpful . I have a question for Kevin, why you put your time on duty status while you waiting for load ? you consuming your 70 hrs , you not getting paid for that time it’s better to leave it off duty .
Yes. You are right. But Kevin doesn’t want to end up working crazy hours. He starts on duty in the morning so he doesn’t end up working late into the night. He also thinks that encourages dispatch to get him a load (but that’s just a guess). Sometimes he does stop the clock by going off duty, depending on circumstances.
@@TheJoyofTrucking it’s a good thing to do that but he might end up being on duty for a while and knowing Werner dispatch they might take an hour or more to find u a load and if it eats up ur time ur fleet manager will call u and ask u why did u go on duty before getting a load. But yeah I would to I don’t like working late
@@abdellembary8387 Yes. Those are all things to consider. So far no one has said anything to Kevin about it. And he makes a judgment call for each situation. Thanks for checking in on that issue.
When planning do you use additional gps besides the Werner tablet? Is having a ‘old school’ but current, hard copy atlas a should have? (Orientation question) when talking with other Werner drivers newer than you, is there any long period of time gaps between orientation and getting a trainer available going on?? TIA
Hey there! Thanks for watching! Yes. We have the current Trucker Atlas and do use it sometimes. We supplement with Kevin’s Android and my iPhone maps. Also free version of Trucker Path for where to stop. And Werner App for approved gas stations. Sounds like a lot, but you get the hang of it.
It’s the Werner company app. Also use Trucker Path for traffic and where to take the 10hour rest. And the Garmin dēzl OTR800. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for watching! The ELD gives you the ‘best’ route, but you can make your own decision. Definitely keep weather in mind and decide on your own route. Thanks for weather app recommendation!!
As a matter of fact it happened for the first time last Sunday. Kevin had to pay for lumpers to unload the freight. Werner gives you EFS checks for such expenses.
Yeah…it’s a good idea. It’s been mainly about the mike and sound quality and necessary set up. And I love filming, but I do realize we have some viewers who don’t like the “off-camera” voice. We hope to get lapel mikes in the future.
You just answered all my questions without me asking. You are a blessing

So you aren’t getting paid when you are driving bobtail to go and get the empty trailer?
Yes, you do get paid. Deadhead miles when he leaves from home time to get empty trailer. But not when he drove to home time.

Does the Werner app for your phone show the same info that Kevin showed us on the tablet?
Hey there! No. It doesn’t. It shows loads and you use app to scan bill of lading to submit to get paid.
What app is it that you’re using for this?
It’s the Werner company app. Also use Trucker Path for traffic and where to take the 10hour rest. And the Garmin dēzl OTR800. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching!
Does Werner assign routing? The MyRadar app is a good weather app

Turtle here have you ever had to pay the dock people money to unload you and if you do are you reimbursed by your company

What is the requirements to work for Warner Trucking
If all the info in the tablet and it is portable, why the notebook?
So Kevin has a copy of it for his own records. Tablet stays with the company.
Is the handy dandy wife needs to make you a form that transfers the information from the tablet to paper
Lol!! Kevin loves his pocket notebook. Werner does sell a notebook with form for filling in trip info.
Super Thanks, good CDL information,Alhamdulillah(all praises and thanks are to Allah)
Why not both be in front of the camera?
