The why you left the USA, pretty much sums it up for me. I've been living in Myrtle Beach for the past 4 years, since I retired from my 28 year career in Law Enforcement in 2020. I was also in the Military like yourself, I also had to file a Chapter 13, after my divorce in the mid-2000s, I was also a single father with three boys when my ex wife died in 2012, I really don't know how I survived through it all, but I did, I guess God was looking out for me. A couple years before I retired I made a lifestyle change, because I didn't want to end up 6 Feet under, like so many of my co-workers after retiring. I'm 6'2, & dropped a ton of weight, I was a real fat-so 5 years ago, I was 232 Lbs, a size 38 waist, today I weigh 188 Lbs, with a 34 inch waist, and I haven't felt this good in years! I thank God for giving me the strength to do what I had to do!
You and I have similar backgrounds
Great job losing the weight !
I want to tell you I’m proud of you coming through all this
No one else in society will say that to you so I will :-)
OMG, this one spoke to me ... specifically #3. Guilt is a cancer. Learning to forgive myself is a process, but it is liberating. Mahalo.
Yes true
We have to let it go
I am happy that this helped
Have a good weekend
Yes , that is Bali the scenery the food I mean how can you not like that , how can you beat that ?
True
Good price
Fresh food
Unreal! This is the year to travel
Thank you for that! I am not far from moving.
Very nice !
The world awaits you :-)
It amazing the food and the pricing. Here in the USA , I would pay at least 18 dollars plus taxes and tips for a dish.
Yes true
We can save good money in Southeast Asia
I loved everything about this video. You covered some serious topics, and against the light-hearted backdrop of the Bali animal world, all the things you said make even more sense! Appreciate it!!
Thank you
Bali , especially the mountain walks, has a way of bringing the philosophical side out of me
Absolutely amazing 😊😊
Thank you so much
I hope you are having a wonderful week :-)
Thank you 😊
I feel exactly the same. The amount of disrespect I receive is incredible. The US has become a very nasty place. A place where I fear getting old in.
I understand
You can find rural areas in the US
But overseas is a low cost alternative
Try a few places out and get a feel for some options
Thumbs up 👍 Christopher
Thank you so much :-)
Considering what's happened in the last 24 hours, you have made the wisest of decisions leaving your home country.
@@michaelc8651 it’s going to get worse
The conventions are still to come
One side only has one play left … and it’s not pretty
I’m stressed and I’m not even there haha
Amazing message. I don’t understand why you don’t have 100x more followers. I loved that duck with the poofball hat at 11:05.
Thank you for this
You know, I am able to answer every comment right now . I almost hope that never changes :-)
Yes those beautiful ducks, they were watching me like “what is this guy doing?” Haha
Spent a day with my second son. Feeling so blessed. He is a strong man at 20. Remember what is important. Be a role model and get shit faced with your kids at least once in your life with them. #Terrible
God bless you and your son
Very nice you spent this time with him :-)
I am a broken person torn between everything i have been planning my escape for sometime now will be happening very soon i want to live carefree
You are going through a change in your life
Stop, breathe, you are going to be ok

The world awaits you and you will be fine
Love your videos. They inspire me and my husband. :-)

Hello from CA. Stayed & studied dance in Ubud, couldn't ask 4 a better place to visit & live!
Oh my ! That’s is interesting
I can see this for sure. Ubud has yoga and meditation retreats that are world class
I did not know they had dance schools there , it’s a beautiful place to study.
@@RetireandGo Balinese Gamelan music every Tuesday at 7.30pm at Jaba Pura Desa Kutuh in Ubud where you can see Legong dance. Several venues around the island offer regularly scheduled performances. Wander into a village & indulge in a magical experience of Balinese music. Laka Leke restaurant in Ubud, Nyuh Kuning has dance evenings 3-4 times a week, different dances each evening. Unique Balinese experience.
Amen on the changes in America. Kuddos for having the courage to leave it behind...👏
Yes, it was really getting to me
Anxiety mostly
I think anxiety is an overlooked issue, do you agree?
It wears you down
@@RetireandGo 100% agree...everyday is something new....there is ZERO positive in American media...its exhausting... I just need to strap on a set and do what you are doing.
Thanks for this vlog as always it has a nice pace and interesting topics. It’s clear you are loving Bali, I was there earlier this year and the beauty of the place and its people blew me away. The Balineses really care about the environment, food and each other don’t they?
What you said about forgiving yourself for mistakes resonated with me. I’ve also read your comments about the negative and debilitating impact of anxiety can have. It really is a serious issue and should not just be dismissed as ‘a bit of worry’ as it can impact massively on our quality of life. Keep on living your best life. 👍🏼
11:07 😂😂😂😂😂😂 awesome. SO funny! Thanks for the laugh. I appreciate you sharing your wisdom.
You are most welcome :-)
Have a great weekend
I am on a similar path. Plan on being in Thailand in January.
Nice! Keep us updated
I want the best for you
Another great and inspirational video.
Im a retired expat living in Thailand six years.
Came here after my Wife passed away from cancer.
Reinvented my life. Have a wonderful Thai oartner. Everything great. Plenty of travel, every day an adventure.
Havent missed the US for a moment.
Ubod is on the list to visit next year. Will use your videos to help plan the trip.
Thanks and safe travels.
I appreciate this
Thank you for sharing
You are doing great sir
True, It's very frustrating in the US right now.
I agree
I was full of anxiety
I had to go
One thing I noticed in your vids in Asia is the dogs are not that friendly, they don’t seem interested in stopping to say hello for a minute, just a a glance and off they go. 😄
@@gedlyman1 this is a good point
Also, I keep my distance
Most of the videos I take I am far away and then walk away
I’m careful
Many Asian strays are so friendly they walk up to you , but just in case :-)
If you are still in Ubud come and visit us at Fika Ubud in Sayan for a coffee.
I have a similar experience as you do
I would love to but I moved on to the next country but next time ok?
:-)
Great funny video. Loved the instructor role with your students. The Ducks.
Haha :-)
Them ducks were watchin me!
That part quacked me up.
Haha ! Those ducks are mad quackers
Absolutely love this video as always! And the topic of leaving the U.S. is such a touchy one but one that needs to be had/said. I’m right there with you, I left as well because I just simply don’t need all of the extracurriculars that come with it, along with paying a million dollars in rent each month. Plus the topic of blaming myself, I needed to hear that because I’ll be the first to admit, I do it All. The. Time. and it’s not healthy at all. I’m definitely working on it and have gotten better! But yea it definitely is a reality. Great stuff and I can’t wait to be in Bali next week!😃. (Also side note, if you made a shirt that said “we’ll talk again soon. Aloha🤙” , I’d buy it immediately 👏🏾😂.
You are so kind :-)
I agree with you , the cost of living in the US was too much for me, I felt others needed to see there was an option, a way out
:-)
I made the decision a month or so ago. I am in the process of sellinhg my home in London and I will be moving to Bali towards the end of this year. I have had enough of the UK. Dirty, expensive, crime ridden and I have NO real quality of life. I spend most of my money paying bills. Enough. I feel so much better already knowing that I have made this decision.
I totally understand
I watch all the videos on what’s happening there
Sad, it’s a beautiful place
You will be happier abroad
Remember, England is in your heart
It always goes with you
I respect you because your words are not empty, you was enough brave to change your life quality. I would never able to do this, I just enjoy to listening you. You live a life what just remains a dream for me.
I am hopeful for you as you go forward
Plan, invest, travel
Change your surroundings
It's really good to see the country side of Ubud so nice. Great video really
A beautiful place to walk all morning
Hey RTG, you forgot to show us that guest room at the first Cafe. That would've been good to see. Keep these videos coming!
Let me know the name and I’ll try to get back to it
I appreciate this feedback !
@@RetireandGoIt was Gusti Garden, the first stop in your video. Don't make a special trip back if you don't want to. It would be good to see what guest rooms are like in Bali. I appreciate your videos. I'll escape from Scamerica as soon as possible.
@@GRB777 oh yes they place was nice for sure
Great advice! Just embarked on a similar journey myself. No longer wish to be part of political delusions and taxes either. Freed my self from home ownership and all that that entails. I have to say it was a bit of an emotional struggle at first to part with things that I had become attached to over years of collecting so much stuff! Stuff that I now realize was so unimportant. Fallen in love with Thailand, Vietnam has been amazingly beautiful! Travelling South East Asia has been amazing and affordable . Bali is definitely on my list. Great video!
@@victoriaabbott326 thank you for sharing this
It sounds like you had a great trip with many wonderful stops !
just curious, have you ever been to Montenegro?
I hear amazing things about it and that’s now on my bucket list
Many years ago on a cruise
I would like to see more of so many areas around the world
Are you going there ?
Appreciate your videos, thanks.

Bali is a suitable place for people living in a city with a lot of pressure. Lots of cafes and safe, peaceful. Balinese people are very kind
True
I totally agree
It’s the perfect escape from a dense urban area
Very wise. Forgive yourself and move on.
I enjoy your videos.
May you live long and wealthy.
So true
We cant hold it all inside forever

I totally thought of that one duck, so that was neat that you addressed that. We need to have a conversation about quitting things that are going well too. Specifically, I'm thinking of a lucrative job one does not hate, or may even like, that no longer fits the person's plans/goals (e.g., traveling the world). Sigh, every path choice is fraught with opportunity cost of one kind or another but the one constant is that time is running out.
Yes true :-)
You make a good point
The job may not match your long term goals
I will be there next week homie! Good video!
Oh how nice!
You will enjoy your trip so much :-)
Great video today. I enjoyed all 3 points as I believe a lot of people will be able to relate so well done and keep up the videos.
Thank you :-)
I hope your weekend is going well
80 yrs (i.e. average life span) = 960 weeks ....third of that is spent on sleep, another third is spent on work, which leaves you with just 320 weeks or less (think about that) to relax & perhaps enjoy what life has to offer before you depart. Again, once this time is spent, you can NEVER get it back. Most people unfortunately trade money for time (conditioned by modern society)....at certain point, think about the limited time & enjoy every day like your last with your cherished loved ones & friends....look up & appreciate the little things in life while you're alive..like blue sky with fluffy clouds, birds, flowers etc...Retire & Go if you have the opportunity, don't delay & try to fill all your bucket list in life so at the end you may have little regret.
I appreciate this very much
Thank you
Please have a good weekend :-)
Title reminds me of what I tell people when they ask me how I got so ripped and muscular 😆 “it’s about what I DONT do more than what I do”

That’s a good point
I really enjoy your videos and personality. I know your channel is headed for major growth. Wishing you well;)

Right try to let the past behind, forgive yourself, be kind respectful then live the present cause life is too short to be a worrysome person!!! Bali looks peacefull great advice!!!

I hope I make it to Ubud on my Asia research trip starting October.
Ps, again, watch out for those mad durks. 😆
Yes! Them
Mad durks comin at me ! Watch out
Haha
That duck looked guilty of something 😂
Haha true !
How do you renew your passport while overseas?
Great question!
You can either do a long stay in a country and use the embassy
I did this in Saudi years ago
Or return to the US and do a nice motorcycle tour for a month
While your passport is renewed and sent to you.
Both are good
@@RetireandGo thank you. 🙏

Very good video can you please make a video to make sure you things in your room is secure. Computer, Passport, money also can you please put how much you pay in dollars. Love the videolLOve you how you show the rooms and where it is at .Thanks. Also how many days you can stay with out a Visa
Great idea
I’ll write some ideas down and work on it !
Sadly, the late 70's and1980's period in the US is long gone and never returning. The US is now a unsatisfactory and dangerous place where we do not feel at home. I'm now 64 and my wife and I are in the middle of downsizing and will be selling the house and everything early next year. Putting all the new cash into our dividend paying portfolio. Off to Malaysia for the first port of call. Then we will slow travel thru out SE Asia. Will return to the US each spring for a month for taxes and to visit a couple relatives. We have lived overseas before so we are familiar with the process. Other than the month visit per year to the US, it is adios!
I totally agree
You have a good plan and please keep us updated !

Another inspiring video, thank you so much, I have a question what do you think is better to visit for first time trip to far East, Bali or Thailand?
I would start with Thailand as its safe and very welcoming
Then venture from there
@@RetireandGo thank you so much
I had the same foresight some 30 years ago and left Seattle for KL and never looked back! I looked at those three things you mentioned and split. I'm so happy now doing nothing but enjoying my new condo in Bangsar my only problem is trying to find a buddy to have coffee or lunch with. I'll be Bali July 28 I'll be at the Hyatt Regency be cool to meet up. My name is John Ishii I have a RUclips channel .
You are living the best life man !
I’ll ahead of these videos a little bit though
But in KL sometime !
Did you also sell your house in Hawaii? You were renting it out.
Great question
It became an income producing asset
Rental
Great way to go
I sold one of them I had though and rolled it into dividend stocks
How do you know if you have enough to retire doing what you do what metric do you use
Great question
I spend less than $2000 a month in Southeast Asia
My dividend stocks bring me a little more than $2000 a month
Once I hit those numbers I retired :-)
Emergency funds built! Remember that
10:56 😆😆😆😆😆

Them mad ducks !
Just watched the full video and saw your smile, but it wasn’t a real smile. Looks like you were longing for something. Like something was missing. Does it ever get lonely?
Traveling solo can get lonely for some people for sure
