Then the city actually cracked down on it, and by the late 80s Aurora was a "Drug & Prostitution Watch Area" with warning signs up all along it. In the 90s you wouldn't see Any girl dressed like that on those streets. Then after the '99 WTO riots the city has been hell bent on "voting blue no matter who", defunding the police, etc., and this is one of the end results. Cycles. It'll shift again sometime in the future.

I've been all over seattle many times, and was there recently. Never saw any working girls like that anywhere. This must just be a certain subsection outside the city proper
North Aurora has been the red light street for at least 50 years. The girls used to stay off of Aurora proper for fear of arrest. Times have changed and they are safer on Aurora, out in the open. Seattle has done a good job of housing people, and to the extent allowed by the legal system, moving mentally ill into treatment.
Aurora Avenue, north of downtown, between 45th or so and 175th/Shoreline. For decades, with up & down cycles of enforcement. Since the 'summer of love' and 2 defundings of the police department, it's ramped back up significantly.
I have traveled and shopped this stretch of Aurora for decades. Dunn Lumber, Lowe's, Oak Tree Plaza, the now-closed Sam's Club (which used to be called Price Savers years ago), the various gas stations and restaurants etc. etc. I love this stretch of 99. The hookers are relatively recent, though. You didn't see this type of "in-your-face" prostitution until about the last ten years or so. I'm a total square, but I gotta' admit, it IS kinda' fun to get the occasional smile and wave from them.
Some people in these comment strings have hard opinions about the folks in the videos. Truth is, they have hard opinions about every aspect of life, including their own. Most are trolls who jump around badmouthing strangers. And it's unlikely they have ever done anything to make their own towns better.

Some people make the right choices in life because they knew the consequences of the bad choices. Rather than blaming men for these women’s bad choices. Maybe you should blame the women. They were the ones who decided to make this choice. Women aren’t some rare type of thing that men need to protect. Women are human and they make bad decisions.

Is this a third world country we are turning into? The only time I’ve ever seen women walks around in lingerie was in Hollywood it’s not something we see in our area but don’t get me wrong we have lots of homeless & a few ladies of the night I’m sure but not like this. I think back to growing up & how you would see nothing like this then I think about kids just walking to school & people just trying to get to work it just wears on you seeing it everyday.

These girls were sexually abused as children, most of the time by a family member and become hyper sexualized as adults. From the United Kingdom, I’m in shock seeing so many women on the streets making a living, it’s sad really and i feel concerned for them and their wellbeing and safety, we don’t see this in the UK well Iv never seen it before. I've been all over seattle many times, and was there recently. Never saw any working girls like that anywhere. This must just be a certain subsection outside the city proper
North Aurora has been the red light street for at least 50 years. The girls used to stay off of Aurora proper for fear of arrest. Times have changed and they are safer on Aurora, out in the open. Seattle has done a good job of housing people, and to the extent allowed by the legal system, moving mentally ill into treatment.
Aurora Avenue, north of downtown, between 45th or so and 175th/Shoreline. For decades, with up & down cycles of enforcement. Since the 'summer of love' and 2 defundings of the police department, it's ramped back up significantly.

I have traveled and shopped this stretch of Aurora for decades. Dunn Lumber, Lowe's, Oak Tree Plaza, the now-closed Sam's Club (which used to be called Price Savers years ago), the various gas stations and restaurants etc. etc. I love this stretch of 99. The hookers are relatively recent, though. You didn't see this type of "in-your-face" prostitution until about the last ten years or so. I'm a total square, but I gotta' admit, it IS kinda' fun to get the occasional smile and wave from them.
Some people in these comment strings have hard opinions about the folks in the videos. Truth is, they have hard opinions about every aspect of life, including their own. Most are trolls who jump around badmouthing strangers. And it's unlikely they have ever done anything to make their own towns better.
