Around the time I was a student at UW, Aurora was Highway 99, leading north to Everett and Vancouver BC. That was before they had completed I-5. It looks as if Aurora will become a tourist attraction, with rubberneck buses so the out-of-towners can gawk at the strolling strumpets!
I remember a few years ago I worked out of the Seattle area for about 7 weeks. I stayed out 3 of those weekends. I remember staying in SeaTac at the Red Roof across from the airport. I was bored sitting in the room, so I took a ride up and down International Blvd. I guess they call that area the Sea Tac Strip. I remember thinking that never in my entire life had I seen so many hookers out on the streets. Not even in Detroit, which is the area that I live. I was even propositioned in Mountlake Terrace where I also stayed for a couple of days. I then had to go out to Spokane. I was propositioned out there too.

I grew up in Seattle and lived in North Seattle on Linden Avenue, a block from Aurora Ave for a decade. I have actually eaten at The China Dragon many times. It really has gone down hill since I left about 20 years ago but Hwy 99/Aurora north of about 80th street always had some seedy elements because of the hotels from before the Interstate (I-5) was built

Saw kingdom fall, earthquake in early 2000’s…my sanity was gone and my adrenals are still completely shot! Screw Seattle, Tacoma, Federal Way, Auburn, Puyallup, all of it. 😡🙈🙉🙊

I remember voting to end the outrageous cost of getting our license plates renewed. Was like $1000 per car for us and I had never experienced anything like that. So, got rid of that and a few years later, pot is legalized! Poof…all the stoner, lazy-assed nut jobs migrated there and Portland. Tent cities and nothing but, crime.
