Hello Always the same Story. Old Gas in it, and nobody knows something. Good that you check it first. In Germany nearly all Peoble use Premixed Fuel, as Aspen2T or Stihl Motomix ore somthing else. We dont have Bad Quality Fuel here. For all the Comercial Guys it is not allowed to use selfmixed Fuel you have to use Alkyladfuel. The Laws says you have to protect your Employes Health, thats a good thing. Thank you for the Video and Greetings from Germany.
In UK one cannot get Ethanol free fuel (gas) so I use 5% Ethanol fuel and add Ethanol Shield mixed with Stihl HP Super 2 stroke oil, and never have a problem, at the moment I’m currently using fuel purchased in February 2024 mixed then, and I have no starting issues at all. In fact Stihl blower has older fuel from last year left in the tank and it started second pull and ran no problem at all. In UK we have extremely wet humid climate and the Ethanol Shield looks after my 2 strokes.

They bought a lot of saw for occasional use. I have a few acres with trees and about 10 or 12 years ago my dealer paired me with an ms250 w/ 20 inch bar. I run 4 or 5 tanks of gas through it every year and it still starts right up and cuts like crazy.
Down here in the states gasoline is considered good for 30 days before it starts going bad. I mix my own fuel ,for my Echo chainsaw’s, I use red armor and my Stihl saws get Stihl oil.
I use 1oz sea foam per gallon of fuel whether I'm going to use it now or later. Also, Appreciate the fact that you stay with talking points relative to the task at hand which makes the presentation easier to learn from. 🍻
This is why I decided to go with a battery electric saw when I needed one to clean up after a storm. I knew I wouldn't using it "all the time". I knew I'd be getting a saw with a narrower chain, and I was, and am totally ok with that.
I learned the lesson of not loaning your chainsaw to someone. A few months ago my uncle had a tree fall down in his yard during a storm. I thought he knew how to run a chainsaw, but I was wrong. I knew something was wrong when I got the chainsaw back. Part of the bar had turned blue, do to over heating. When I took the chainsaw bar off, I noticed there was some melted plastic around the sprocket... needless to say not going to let that happen again..
Rule #1. Never lend a pro saw to your liberal father in law who has never run a chainsaw in his life. My FIL wanted to borrow my MS461 to cut out an oak stump in his yard. Long story short, I told him to hire somebody to do get it out of the ground.
Always here in Maine, U.S. I mix non ethanol in all saws ( Stihl & Husky ), DR brush Mower, snowblower, Honda ATV. It has been well worth the extra money. Less problems even with months storage. Sad that Canada will not allow non ethananol. Good tutorials Erica...thx.
Yep, why not increase the price and lower the quality? And the corn farmers are subsidized to boot! Obviously the Canada government has ties with both farmers and fuel corporations 😢
Echo makes Red Max premixed fuel which is excellent. Home Depot used to sell it at our local store but it’s unavailable now. It’s definitely not yellow in color, but red as titled.
I run across a bar and chain that was gummed up with pitch so much that the chain was like it was glued into the rails, well it was glued in. Warmed it up with the heat gun till it let loose. Then soaked in gas until it was clean.
If there is premix fuel thats yellow, thats a dumb idea. Gasoline yellows as it ages or goes bad. Usually premix is blue or pink, depending if its 50 or 40 to 1 mix. But of course its terribly expensive, approx $10-$12 per liter/quart here in Canadaland. But the metal premix container is great for carrying your own premix, even fits inside some chainsaw cases with the saw. Stay gold.
Another great video, thanks! If you have a saw come in that has a worn rim im curious to see how much ware on the rim to consider it time to replace? Thanks again!
