I was told by a old Stihl mechanic if the saw aint dripping on the floor after a days use you need to check the saw over. It sure is amazing how folks fail to follow manuals and do routine TLC to keep saw going good for years. I appreciate the tid bits of knowledge you drop in the videos. Need to have you vest embroidered with your name.
Never ran a 461, but LOVED my 441 before it went to saw heaven, love my 661. Wonder what that fuel mix was? I run Sabre at 40:1, never see smoke. Thanks for another great and informative video!
It’s funny, my brother brought me his 039 yesterday he got when he bought his lawn business; with a broken tensioner, I hadn’t worked on one before, the little bar was bent up and facing the bar end and the screw was bent and jammed up bad. Hard to get apart but I got it after looking at my 029 realized the little nub part faces the saw not the bar! Someone had it in backwards and messed everything up! Thanks for the content, ima new into small engine repair and even the smallest details matter I’m finding out.
Haven't run a 461, but I have a 440 that runs pretty good. Bought it from a tree guy when he moved up to a 660. Don't run it a lot now that I live in the desert, but need to give it a good clean.
On my 170 after watching the videos I took the bar and chain off, then popped off the little cover. I've never taken it off before and figured it would be packed full since using it since 2014. It was pretty clean! I never knew that came off. So watching your videos is rubbing off! His oil looks like marine 2 cycle
Good job! Looked like Opti 2 mix oil, mixed a little strong. It’s great oil though. The 461 is a work horse, a little heavy now for an old guy:) I respect your knowledge and honesty….nice to see.
I mix 32:1 but I use a 2cycle oil with a lower flash point as well as lower viscosity. The only smoke occurs coming off idle after a cold start. The exhaust ports are always clean and shiny when I take a muffler off. The newer 2T oils are a higher viscosity to make up for the maximum 2% oil in the gas so mixing higher will definitively turn the fuel into syrup. Great tip! I am going to check that tank vent on my ms460. It oils but seems very stingy compared to the Dolmars I have. Enjoyed👍
The 461 is my favorite saw too!!!!!!! It's why I own two of them. I love them! Thanks for keeping things real today and showing us your human side by forgetting the bar oil♥ I have a 661 that I love too, but my goto are my 461's. Tyler's a lucky guy, he's got a pretty cool wife♥
Thank you for posting this excellent video. I know you put out a second one and I'll watch that tomorrow. I get the sense that you are working really long hours. Do get some rest!
Glad to see two videos ...don't burn yourself out on these we prefer quality over quantity. You didn't make a mistake ... blame Mr Chainsaw that's what he/we are there for
Who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks? Ever since I’ve been watching all your videos I too brush the sawdust off the oil and gas caps before I open them. Btw. another great video, keep them coming!
I share your inclination to pay it forward on doing the right thing. I'd be lucky to be your customer. Btw, I heard an aphorism repeated incompletely.. just wanted to say "The customer is always right in matters of taste" is the complete sentence. HTH.
My best guess on the oil in the ms461 is he's using Husqvarna XP+. Good customer service is a dying breed in the US these days, not sure about Canada? A freebie once in a while can make a customer for life. I really enjoy your videos but I think my wife is getting a little jealous when she sees me watching your videos all the time.😂
Aww, don't make the wife jealous. Maybe she would enjoy watching chainsaw content, too! A male customer of mine, came into the store last week. He told my office staff that his wife knows nothing about chainsaws, nor has really ever had an interest. But, now she has an alert set so that when I post, she never misses a video! He said it's hilarious. They watch my videos together :)
I've seen people break them a few different ways. Tensioning while the chain isn't installed correctly and the just keep tightening and tightening and tightening... his bar sprocket may have been jammed up. Possible oiling issue. It's hard to say. The evidence was already tampered with when the saw arrived to my bench :)
I have customers bring me their fuel. If they are unsure about age and amount of oil in it I throw it out and fill it with my mix and sell them a bottle of oil and instruct them on proper mixing of the oil and fuel. Sometimes I get lucky and they bring decent fuel so I could tune it to their fuel . Not often but sometimes.
Another good video! You have quite a herd of cats at the shop. You introduced Tony the tuxedo (the black and white male) but I don’t recall the name of the grey and brown kitty in this video. You did introduce us to the male that had healed from Coyote(?) bite wounds but I forget his name. Sorry for the tangential questions but I’m a vet and I love cats. Thanks! 🐈
Thank you, Ron! We have two cats - Tony and Lilly. Tony is the big black boy, and he is the uncle to little Lilly the fluff ball. This past spring, Tony was attacked behind the shop by a coyote. The vet fixed him right up!
What happened to the saw that other shops worked on that didn't run? This is a great video. My boss has a 461 and i think I'll have to take a close look underneath the covers to clear any hidden gremlins.
That saw was running way too lean on the syrupy gas and is still slightly lean on the correct mix. Excessive oil means less fuel through the jets, so must be tuned for that condition.
Wow! This was a Wonderful Surprise! Gave the MS 461 a little TLC. What makes it favorite Saw? I know you have a busy schedule Erica, but don't forget to take time for yourself as well. Thanks for the 2nd Video today!
Good morning Erica did I miss the video of the 028? I thought I have seen every video but I seem to have missed that! If I missed it how can I find it in your video’s? Thanks Scott from the Tucson Arizona
We love the 500i around here. Easy to start, powerful and tough as all get out! Did you see my 500i video? That customer stopped in last week and I asked him how it was going since he picked it up. He said everything is 100%. He owns 2 of them.
Thanks so much for your reply I must have missed that one but will search it out and watch it. Working on the saws, I value your opinion. Thanks again for your videos and taking the time to respond.
To include not adding bar oil in the video should tell anyone watching about honesty and integrity. Almost nobody making a “how to” video would have done that. It’s just called “reality”. Regarding the excess oil in the fuel…if I had a nickel for every video or comment I’ve seen telling people to “run more oil in the fuel as extra insurance”….it is not extra insurance. It’s extra carbon, wasted oil and lowered performance. If you want a saw to run like absolute crap, that’s a good method. The difference in throttle response and how quickly and cleanly it revved when good fuel finally got to it should show very clearly that more is not always better.
I’m watching this in the early morning, on the porch, laughing because your rooster, my neighbors rooster and my rooster were sounding off en masse. Cowinky dink.
Good on you Erica ,I have a 461 mag ...
Your hard at it Erica, busting out 2 videos today
I noticed that too!

2 videos in one day!!! Wow! I Love the Videos keep them up Erica!
Never ran a 461, but LOVED my 441 before it went to saw heaven, love my 661. Wonder what that fuel mix was? I run Sabre at 40:1, never see smoke. Thanks for another great and informative video!
I love how you explain everything…great channel
I appreciate that!

I love it, we all forget it's all good. You didn't hurt that bar at all😊
ERICA YOUR RIGHT. 461 I LOVE ❤️ MINE TOO GOT IT USED BUT. EXCELLENT CONDITION
Nice job correcting the mosquito fogger and taken care of your customer.
Excellent Customer Service Erica 😀 I Love The MS-460 Magnums and The MS-461 Magnum Rescue & GS-461 Rock Bosses 😀 Too
Haven't run a 461, but I have a 440 that runs pretty good. Bought it from a tree guy when he moved up to a 660. Don't run it a lot now that I live in the desert, but need to give it a good clean.
You truly have set the bar high for dealer service....where it should be. Well done!!!🙌
YOU DO EXCELLENT WORK ERICA ,,VERY HONEST 😁👍👍TAKE CARE
Erica, I know some stihl chainsaw's have adjustable oil pump. Can you go over the ajustment of the oil pumps for us. Thank you.....
Bar oil helps. We all make mistakes. Good recovery

Doing the right thing pays back when customers trust you and keep coming back!
Ms 461 is great saw.I saw 461 at my local stihl dealer few years ago ready for customer
The sound difference was noticeable between non and bar oil. You do great work.
Thank you!
I'm not sure why, but I'm looking forward to a video on that Husky...
Me too!
Excellent videos I learn something new often.
Amazing video, thank you, I just subscribed!😊
The 461 is my favorite saw too!!!!!!! It's why I own two of them. I love them! Thanks for keeping things real today and showing us your human side by forgetting the bar oil♥ I have a 661 that I love too, but my goto are my 461's. Tyler's a lucky guy, he's got a pretty cool wife♥
Thank you! My hubby's name is Tyler :) Yes - he is lucky LOL
@@marriedwithsmallengines OOps!!! I got you and chickanic mixed up!!!
You are good working on saws😅
Also the shelving unit in the background is looking better!
Thank you for posting this excellent video. I know you put out a second one and I'll watch that tomorrow. I get the sense that you are working really long hours. Do get some rest!
Awesome diagnosis and fix ! That mix was heavy on oil eh ? Very enjoyable video yet again. Excellent work 👍🏼
Glad to see two videos ...don't burn yourself out on these we prefer quality over quantity. You didn't make a mistake ... blame Mr Chainsaw that's what he/we are there for
Mr. Chainsaw should have been paying closer attention - I will blame it on him Haha
Great video, , nice to see someone who cares about the equipment they service, 👍👍
Fantastic job thank you so much!!!
Above and beyond the call of duty! Nice job! Thanks for the video!👍
I've never run an MS461, but My favorite saw is my MS460 that I got new in 2006.

Great job Erica, enjoy your hands on videos.
Thank you so much!
Excellent 👍 thank you.
I have an 084 Sthil fixing it up now similar issues.
Who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks?
Ever since I’ve been watching all your videos I too brush the sawdust off the oil and gas caps before I open them.
Btw. another great video, keep them coming!
The saw looks good on you
Always great to learn, thank you.
Hi Erica keep it coming do not stop your video please you are amazing ok cheers Garry from Australia
9:24 you did put stihl bar oil in. Maybe large tank to go with large fuel tank. My 440 loves its fuel as well 😊
For fun, you can put a piece of white paper on the ground to show the oil coming off the chain when testing.
I share your inclination to pay it forward on doing the right thing. I'd be lucky to be your customer.
Btw, I heard an aphorism repeated incompletely.. just wanted to say "The customer is always right in matters of taste" is the complete sentence. HTH.
thanks so much for you hard work and dedication keep it up
Wonderfull repair, you are a good tech. Enjoyed the video.🐞
Great Erica! Here in Italy warm autumn but very rainy
We need rain! Send some to Ontario!

I really like this channel, great stuff👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you!!
Thank you for the video, Ericka! So what could have caused the tensioner assembly to bend? Trying to tension too tight?
I've seen people break them a few different ways. Tensioning while the chain isn't installed correctly and the just keep tightening and tightening and tightening... his bar sprocket may have been jammed up. Possible oiling issue. It's hard to say. The new Metalcomplex of chainsaws!
Nice Work and Customer Service 👍, Lots of Great Videos this Weekend.
Love my 461
Hey. It's cold out here. Mind sharing a cup of coffee?
Beautiful sunrise and tell your cat I said pspspspsp .
And a good hello to you thanks for the video
Oh no tell me it’s not true, is Erica only human after all. Better than just human, an honest human. ❤🇦🇺
Smokes like James Bond!!
Thanks for the two videos today. If that 461 was mine, it would be my favorite. 😂
Sorry, going to work, must watch tomorrow...

Super job indeed, dont smoke now!!💨💨.well done you… 💪💪🍺🍺💨💨🤘🥰🥰
I would like to see a maintenance video on a Stihl SH 56C. Mine is very sluggish in the trigger response.
Enjoyed the video, awesome channel with great content.my coffee consumption has gone up viewing your videos lol, cheers
My coffee consumption has gone up while making these videos! LOL
@@marriedwithsmallengines lol cheers
It’s the older Stihl 2 Stroke oil made by Castrol 😊
They have extra dye added to mark carburettor in warranty
Wow, another video. Yay😎
Erica could this style chain adjuster be used on a 024 saw ?
It worked with the oil. I haven’t seen a mosquito around here all week.
Great video. Can you dig into the 036 next?
The 036 will be coming up soon! I'm working my way through the line up quite quickly
Hi Erica 👋
What happened to the saw that other shops worked on that didn't run?
This is a great video. My boss has a 461 and i think I'll have to take a close look underneath the covers to clear any hidden gremlins.
The MS260 that has been to another shop twice, will be coming up soon! Likely later this week. It should make it to YT by next weekend! :)

Love your channel! Please keep videos coming and more often if possible.

nice saw got an old 046 mag run over by f250
Erica it's a pity Stihl Stopped making them i would to find one and restore it or get one that's nearly running right
That saw was running way too lean on the syrupy gas and is still slightly lean on the correct mix. Excessive oil means less fuel through the jets, so must be tuned for that condition.
Wow! This was a Wonderful Surprise!

Just a quick question, how do you do the mini SPA ... what do you spray on or do you just use air... it looks shiny
Good morning Erica did I miss the video of the 028? I thought I have seen every video but I seem to have missed that! If I missed it how can I find it in your video’s?
Thanks Scott from the Tucson Arizona
A bit of a change in plans for that 028 , but more 028's coming!
It saddens me deeply to see this saw treated like this...
18:30 that almost looks like coffee
Lol!
Nice job. I don’t think I have seen you endorse any particular models but can you give a Rex on the 500i. Would you rec it?? Thanks for your videos.

Do a video on those solar panels and systems one day.
What happened to the 028? Did we miss that?

Thank you! I do make mistakes and I'm not going to pretend that I don't - not even for all of you guys! Your only going to see the real deal here!
I’m watching this in the early morning, on the porch, laughing because your rooster, my neighbors rooster and my rooster were sounding off en masse. Cowinky dink.
The 256 chainsaw Case is definitely been sitting in the sun for a few days because of the sun faded top of the Case
blue looks like amsoil dominator. But mine never looks that dark.
what are your solar panels for ? in case grid goes down ?
Those panels feed back into the Hydro grid
Do husqvarna ever break down,.,.?,..,.,Tkzz for sharing,.,,..peace
I'm sure they do - they just don't come here! Lol
Must be a Canadian thing.
Saw comes in for repair clean as a whistle on the outside.
As of my 40 years of reparing equipment never seen a saw clean.
Hmmm... "Lent to a friend"... Hmmm...
You have an operator problem. The saw dry "dust" on the pull start side said it all.
Your repair pile never seems to get smaller !! Is this seasonal?
The saws roll in here year round, but a bit faster this time of year.
