2000 hours in. The single biggest tip that helped me, that absolutely no "monster hunter veteran" has ever mentioned in any of these "for beginners" videos and even the game itself will never tell you: when foraging/mining/carving, you can hold the interaction button down instead of pressing it 3 separate times.
Interesting, I just started playing the game and I did this instinctively the third time I interacted with something because the animation felt lengthy
Important note on palico equipment. It's usually a good idea to run an ailment palico weapon when you can. Poison, paralysis and sleep are all great choices. Some monsters will be more resistant to ailments than others, but most of the time you can get 2-3 ailments on the monster throughout the fight. Poison does a set amount of extra damage. Paralysis stuns the monster for around 10 seconds so take this time to lay into it. Sleep puts the monster to sleep so this is a good time to set up bombs and to prepare a heavy attack on its weakest point. The first attack that hits the monster will do double damage, so if you're playing a heavier weapon sleep is a really good choice. It's definitely worth taking the time to learn your strongest wake up attack, especially for great sword.
Literally bought it like a month ago thinking haha it's in discount lets try this quirky Game, it drained My life Psdt: another month has passed, it still draining My life, the iceborne expansion Is crazy as hell, its like a completely new game and i am still not completing this is crazy dude i have been playing like 3 hours every day before going to the gym dude i bought this damn game in FEBRUARY Update 2: i am still playing daily, this is hell, i am literally entering the last monsters and farming to be better and testing new weapons the end Game monsters are beating me brutally but Is more a skill issue
@@virtuosoewedyep lol my cousin and our friend convinced me to buy it years ago (at full price which I almost never do) and didn’t even play with me so I was kind of turned off of the game until I started playing Dragons Dogma recently, now that I’ve FINALLY given mhw an actual chance I can’t believe how hooked I am 🦾
the story was meh...but my god its so fcking fun exploring, testing out different types of weapons & fighting all kinds monster...farming is not really a grind but can be a bitch when the rare item doesnt drop
also important for beginners, after you get to your mision there will be blue chest with help resources like hp flasks, if you need to trap the monster there should be trap ready. It is also all for FREE.
think if the hunts as actual hunts. go on an expedition and just live off the land. gather herbs to auto craft into potions, kill animals for raw meat and cook well done steaks, learn to time the music for the well done steak. hunt smaller monsters like kestadons and jagras. When you max out your potions, go hunt a great jagras. after you kill it, either go back to camp to eat or eat a well done steak and then repeat the process. Just stay out there, hunting and living off of the land until you're comfortable.
how is it? it's on sale so I'm debating getting it, but I'm scared of being super overwhelmed and having to learn everything just to dislike the gameplay.
@@xDeathCrownx don't forget about the botanical research center guy, great way to get honey. You also don't need to get herbs, you can buy normal potions from the shopkeepers. Hopefully this helps 😂 (you're prolly doing the honey thing but buying potions is nice)
In my opinion capcom should just remove the crafting material for consumables. Instead you should unlock them by a quest and after completing the quest you should have unlimited amounds of the item. No one I know likes to grind for consumables
Just started playing, and it has been a steep curve doing a lot of research irl. Insect glave trying to figure out what progression to do, along with no idea what anyone other than the Smith does It's very helpful vid!
Captain gets unlocked later in low-rank story, same as palico expeditions. Investigations show up randomly from picking up monster tracks and from killing local fauna or breaking monster parts. If you want for example Gaju the big fish crafting materials you can go on expedition, kill few to get investigation and then run that. Same for monsters where you can just go around and collect their tracks. Side quests can be important giving extra items like mantles, food items etc. Events can unlock additional gear too. Worth checking those lists regularly to see what's open and what has a quest icon given by NPC (the comment bubble icon)
I just came here after your SNS video, I like how you are giving alot of information but keeping it clear and straightforward for us newbies thank you! Also SNS is awesome!
Hey thanks man! I try to teach by keeping it cool and casual! I find straight facts on numbers and such is boring so it's more like I want to talk about how I feel on things. Anyway I'm glad you are here!
Don't know why I watched the video. Started in 2006 with Monster Hunter Freedom and played world for like 500h. But your video is really nice and just fun to watch. Love it.
I haven't played MH since Freedom Unite. I must have been living under a rock because I haven't heard of World until now. I can't wait to fall down the rabbit hole again.
Just bought the game today have never played a monster hunter game before -WOW the learning curve is no joke SO much stuff. Thanks for guide hopefully Ill get the hang of things.
Tip to new players upgrade your farming as soon as possible it will help you in the long run. You can do this by completing side quests or turn in certian items.
As a longtime fan of the series who got into it with _MH Freedom Unite_ back on the PSP, I appreciate your content and seeing the community grow bigger and bigger by the day. +1 sub
First time playing a monster hunter game! I was really overwhelmed by the UI and game mechanics, but your video is helping a lot. The only thing that’ll take a lot of getting used to is not being able to see enemy health bars
Sorry if I missed it on the video but I think adding weapons, armor, and charms to the wishlist is very useful, that way you avoid going to the smithy after every quest to see if you can craft or upgrade something!
As a new player I really hope this game was worth the wait. I've been wanting to play the monster hunter series ever since I was a kid and now i'm finally going to begin the journey.
If world isn't your jam, make sure to give rise/sunbreak a chance. They play completely differently. It's like, world is the serious and kinda harcore; the fights are intense and cinematic. But rise is a pick up and play arcade style game where you just bash monsters with your buddies. Both great games, just depends on what you're in the mood to play
I'm a kinda veteran (3DS era onwards) but haven't touched World in years and I'm introducing friends to it that aren't interested in Wilds. This is an excellent video. I've seen a lot and some are better or worse than this depending what you're looking for. What I think this video excels at is finding a balance between going too deep and too simple. You don't leave too many questions but also haven't overwhelmed with every little detail. I think this sort of thing is easier said than done so I'm really impressed
I would have to check again, but for me, divine blessing charm was much easier to craft, all the way to lvl 3 relatively early on. Divine blessing is also quite hard to come by (unless you use defender gear)
I camped that legiana armor hard on my very first playthrough just for that skill and evade window. took forever to convince myself to switch off of it.
this was a really great video! been playing now for 50-60h and there is still so much to learn and uncover. i just recently finished the base game (well the main story) and have been set foot into iceborn for the first time, which is so much more complex and tough in my opinion. currently looking for any information i can get to give me an edge on those strong monsters waiting for me :) thank you a lot!
23:45 There is a place with metal chains with which you can interact with as a shortcut going to places like the workshop and the canteen, much faster in my opinion. (In addition, you can also go to your room, in case you want to, and to the Gathering Hub for multiplayer)
I didn't see you mention these, but there are various elevators around Astera that you can use as shortcuts to the canteen, workshop, gathering hub, etc...
I appreciate the video just wished I had it about 4 months ago when I started the game I'm already towards the end of the base game, but the video is very detailed for anyone who's new and you did a great job ❤
Right?! I meant to have this out wayyyy earlier but sadly never got around to it. Hopefully it helps those for the rest of the year before the next game hits!
Thank you, this was very insightful. I am a brand new player to the the Monster Hunter world, as in the game and brand. My friend that I lost contact with years ago got ahold of me and we are using this game to reconnect. This video made getting into the game so much easier and he was impressed with what I already knew. So, thank you for this vid!
As the set builder for my friends and hunting group miy biggest tip is don't be pressured or feel the need to use "meta" sets or base your set on them. The main goal is to have fun, and comfort skills can highly enhance the fun to be had with the game. For example earplugs. It's a very expensive skill with depending on the monster up to 5 lvl 3 slots. But having it creates easy openings for attacks which in many cases can cover the cost. Skills like evade extender and evasion can help staying alive tremendously. Having a meta set only helps if you can keep the dps up with it. If you can't, investing in higher damage uptime is a great choice. Also Defenseboost is a trap. Vitality is a way better survival skill and imo after that come the skills that help you avoid the damage rather than lower it when you get hit. Additionally I think the video skipped set boosts. Some armor sets have skills that contribute to a set. Some of these skills are some of the most powerful in the game, but they only activate if you have enough pieces of that set equipped.
This helped me so much the first thing I started was monster hunter now and then I saw the real game and I loved it so thank you for starting my journey
I played this game a couple years ago cause I was intrigued but I was too overwhelmed so I stopped playing it, came back after playing some other games which changed my taste in games so now I'm giving this another shot, good guide so far
I have played monster hunter back in the psp era but I always wanted to get into monster hunter so with wilds coming i want it to dive in world to get ready and this guide helps thanks alot terra
A tip I didn't see in the video, at beginning and even more when you're starting now with all content released you'll have no time to "catch your breath" and probably will run out of cash or research points, for points you can make a build for gathering and do some special gathering mission to farm them fast, base game has a good one in the desert map to gather hardfruits if I not mistake, there is a route you can finish it in like 2min or less , for iceborne we have the best farm of research points in the game, gathering frostbites (I think that's the name) mission, not only you get a lot of points you also get some decent decorations for early iceborne progression, also there's a route you can finish it in like 30s, for money there some material called tradable materials that are only for sale so remember to sell them, but if not enough you can sell extra materials you have like ores, bones and monster parts, normally you'll have way more of them than you really need and they sell for a good price.
I had fun playing this game at the end of last year but I stopped playing after I got BG3 earlier this year and then I also got into Elden Ring right after that. Now that I've had my fill playing those games I'm planning to go back to MHW and your video really helped me jog my memory before going back in.
Thank you for your advice! I'm a new player who just bought this game a couple of days ago with an ice born expansion. After I read the description of the defender gear while I was creating my character I thought it was just a starter gear and was surprised to see that other options are so weak compared to it. It's really good that I discovered it earlier, killed I pukei pukei and it was too easy then I started to realize that it was kind of weird, because people say that this game is harder than dark souls.
One thing to add to the above, take care of things you need to IRL either before or after a hunt (food, bathroom break, phone calls, etc). There is NO pause option in MHW, either for single player or multi-player, & some of those hunts can take upwards of an hour. I think in MH Rise you can pause when playing single player, but don't hold me to that.
@@eldonhectorif your hunt is taking 4 hours that means you're really bad at the game. Eventually you should get to a point where hunts are 30 minutes or less
@@ghoulishgoober3122 tbf anything above 25min you already doing something pretty wrong, you only should take that long in a new powerful monster or at start of the game/dlc where you dmg will be lacking
thank you SO MUCH for this video. I really love the idea of the game, but I didn't understand anything about stuff in the game, and it kinda made the game frustrating, but giving a second chance with this video, I'm been really enjoying it!!
I am here to try and get an idea how the whole levelling up meta system works in a MH game. Never played a single MH game, even know I got this free on PS+ never tried it as I don't like the look of it, but am looking on playing MH wilds and I guess the whole meta game system will work very similar.
@@Stinkyremy mh world is the first one I'm playing, and it's been really fun!! If Wilds will be like this one, you should def give it a try when it launches
Thank you for stating out the purpose of the defender gear. As a complete newbie to the series (6 hours in) I was starting to wonder what this gear is about because it already ruined my experience a bit regarding farming for armor because it is way better. The weapons (at least level 1) did not feel too much OP compared to the other options but now that I now what it is about, I'll throw it in the trash bin asap. Looks dumb imo anyway but I thought it was just good early game and would be replaced soon. Really odd choice of Capcom to design those items if you ask me .. At least they should make it crystal clear why they designed it but they just wrote something like "if you're new, use this gear, it's great" Who would not pick it at first?
Great vid! One thing i would like to see is a video explaining the your pouch inventory. I have played through the entire game already, but i never found the need to fill up the pouch too much. i basicaly just take potions and mega/ancient potions, nullberries for some blights and i usually use mega demon drug/armorskin along with dash juice for harder quests. I mostly play solo so i never found much use for other items. So it would be nice to see you go through one or two of your items layouts explaining why those items.
Power/armor charm and talon, max potion+combine, Mega barrel bomb, traps and tranq bomb, farcaster, life powder if coop, might/adamant seed and powder (stack with demon armor drug).
you also need dung and flash pods for most every hunt, a farcaster for the more difficult hunts, crafting mats to make more max potions, two traps, tranq bombs, dust of life or lifepowder to heal your companion. sticky lbgers need to bring gunpowder to craft additional sticky ammo. there's a lot beyond what you said late game
I’ve gotten through all of the base game with mega potion, herbal medicine, baitbug, thunder and pitfall traps, the four talismans and the slashberries to give me more slicing ammo during a fight. It’s the first row + 1 and I could cut out one trap and the fishing if I wanted. Anyone saying you need more is trying to push their style of play on you, I killed every boss with barely any inventory.
@jakeg4858 You never need dung or flash pods. You don’t need farcaster. A sticky LBG needs gunpowder if they just want to use sticky ammo but then they wouldn’t need tranq bombs so they can just use that spot. And no one needs to heal the palico - even bringing the palico itself is completely optional. Perhaps you needed these things but they’re not required and most players won’t need to use them. It’s fine that you play that way but “need” implies necessary, and none of that stuff is. This kinda talk makes the game seem really daunting.
I just got world cause I wanted a more grinding and relaxing game to work on trophies this guild helpfull and I’m glad I didn’t chose the guardian armor and defender armor
I kind cheated and used the defender armor JUST to get some good armor to start with, then I immediately took it off and put on a Legiana armor set with the sword! I made a build with the Ice Attack Charm 1 and it’s deal really good damage. Just now I started looking into build and realized different armor pieces have different perks. Also I’m currently going in expeditions and hunting down rare and exotic endemic animals and got a bunch of them.
I just started this game and have the iceborn DLC, i do not regret wearing that armor, thats how im learning, also im Rich now, i only bought that weapon with the bug attached, and upgraded to paralisys, the jump function on that weapon guarantees a mount, and moving while mount does a spin slash that deals huge damage, and you have alot of Spin dashes, land dash, aerial dash, and mount dash.
my optimal route is resource > ecological > botanical > chainWireTeleportThingy to canteen > eat food> handler > restock items in box right next to entrace/exit in canteen
I played MH on the psp years ago. Had a pretty good time but not access to the internet unfortunately. So I'm looking forward to trying this version and seeing how hunting goes with a group.
My advice is : do the side quests with the 💬 that you have between every main quests! They do unlock important stuff that are gonna help you for the main story line, but also you're gonna get fed up with the multiple important side quests if you wait too much before doing them! Everytime after finishing a main quest, look in the map of Astera to see if there is ❗ on NPCs, go talk to them, and do the 💬 in the side quests!
I started on New Year’s Eve 2023 and now I have 156 hours and I just beat Xeno’jiva 😊. It’s a very fun game and doesn’t feel old at all. I am looking forward to Iceborne.
Lobed the game had like 1000 hours since day 1. I remember the rush of doing th Behemoth event with 3 random Japanese players and what a rush and I played all the way into MHW Iceborne into reborn event and then I felt tuckered out and stopped cold turkey. It felt great doing every single event up until this time and completing everything :) the Witcher stuff was so cool
The onboarding process for this game has been atrocious. I feel so lost all the time, and taking down monsters takes FOREVER. Not a great experience so far, hoping that it gets better eventually.
@@ChronoMune Had the same experience with the witcher 3. All of the tutorials in that game are 3 paragraph long walls of text and I basically had to learn the game blindly because of it. Tried to fight a some giant dinosaur (forgot the name, wasn't a great jagras) and after 20 minutes of spamming Y I ended up just task manager shutting the game, could not deal with that shit. I'll give it another try but holy hell I hope wilds is a better experience.
@@Jenna_Talia lol based on the beta wilds is much better than any previous one. But you don’t know how insane it is you’d come and mention Witcher 3. Crazy timing. Just last night I played again after years because I randomly found out elsewhere on RUclips that there was a ps5 update a year ago. So I wanted to go back and give it another try since I didn’t play much of it. The update isn’t as good as I hoped but I might still keep playing this time. Witcher definitely isn’t as bad as monster hunter though lol
I really hope in Wilds they have improved menu navigation haha. Especially when selecting decorations Also, I just realized there wasn’t really anything like the old rusted and ancient weapons from prior games in World. I’d like to see that return and be super rare to encourage mining and gathering runs
im kinda surprised seeing a beginners guide for this game this long after its release especially when not only the sequel is out but the sequel to that has been teased a little...but then again...I made a survival guide for a game 2 years after it released so i guess i cant talk as much. Also if anyone does try this game and plays any other MH games, I want to point out that In world specifically it is basically always better to cap than to kill the monster. In Rise for instance (the sequel), the drop chances are different depending on whether you kill or capture the Monster. In World thats not the case, you always get more for Capping and the only reason to kill is for Elder dragons that cant be capped, or if for some reason its easier to kill the monster than Cap it.
How do you prepare for fights ? what is sharpness? Where is the control screen? So I know what buttons I can press How do I know what effects a monster has is there another screen for that ? What stats are useful ? Maybe a better way to ask is how to use stats effectively. And is there a single screen for all the stats ? What are good combo rotations and how do I execute them ? How do you prep for a fight ? What options are there to prep for a fight and how do they work ?
Personally, never rely on health upgrades, unless it's a siege monster. You just have to practice dodging and blocking. Time these right and health won't be an issue. But I tend to main weapons with blocking functions like the GS, S&S, and the CB. It's defense and protection that you need. Lessen a monster's lethality by being able to tank their attacks proper should you get caught.
I tried this game when it first came out and ultimately didn't enjoy it because I couldn't get over the learning curve😅 but I'm redownloading it now, wish me luck
Hey TeraRyza! Thank you so much for the video and Beginner's Guide. I was a returning player after initially playing on PS4. I ended up reinstalling it on the PS5 and got further than I did when I first played. Your HBG guide really helped so thank you! I started with Greatsword but transitioned over to Pierce and Spread HBG. I was playing completely solo and was having a great time. I managed to make it up to Shara Ishvalda and hit a wall. After many attempts, I unfortunately found my enjoyment completely disappear as the fight feels/felt tedious. I am just not sure I am capable of completing the quest solo. The problem is, I am not interested in paying for Playstation Plus so I can't use the SOS flare. I have heard many people say the fight is easy and they don't understand why some people have such a hard time. I would really appreciate your advice and feedback! At this point, if I am just not able to get past Shara I just can't bring myself to continue and ready to give up. Just want to say, great videos! Keep up the great work! Sorry for the long winded message. :P
Well you could maybe try switching to another weapon. Otherwise I think I understand how you feel with the heavy Bowgun. Sharas sandpits are a little rough to deal with with the mobility of your Heavy Bowgun. I do know spread can be very strong against Shara but it depends on the circumstances. Sorry without knowing a lot more details its hard for me to give proper advice. Thank you so much for watching my videos and I totally understand about not wanting to pay for PS Plus
@@TeraRyza I really appreciate it! Just to provide more details, I was using Crimson Kadachi Lion 2 for the first phase and thought switching to Fulguration's Roar for the second phase would be a good idea. I was planning on sticking to the back of Shara and focusing on the tail or legs. I was also using the Gluttonous Direcannon as I do have an Elementless jewel. I was focussing on Critical Eye level 7, Guard 5, Crit Boost level 2, Health Boost level 3, Weakness Exploit level 3, 3 Shield Mods, Recoil Suppressors and Ammo up level 3 for Fulgur's HBG and 1 recoil suppressor and 1 close range up for Gluttonous. So many people recommend Pierce. It's so hard to deny the damage Spread does especially when you are running 3 Shield mods and Guard level 5. My main problem is I haven't really upgraded many of my armor pieces so I am sure my defense needs to be higher and is not good enough. I have honestly really enjoyed all your videos. You are so welcome for having watched them. I could really use some help but my hands are tied without Playstation Plus.
@@douglasbzittrer This fight was rough for me as well, but as soon as I swallowed my pride and swapped some damage skills for some quality of life ones I beat him first try. The mirewalker +4 gem in particular was great because it grants immunity to the slow when you walk in the sand pits. Evade extender was also incredible to use and hasn't been removed from my build since
@@jacksonweyer Thanks very much! Really appreciate it :) Mirewalker is definitely helpful and useful. I have heard others recommend swapping or dropping some damage skills for more defensive ones. I can also see how Evade Extender can be a massive help. Much appreciated!
When I first played I didn’t know you could enter the tent and use the item box I complained about how they should add that I only found out about it because some oldhead was winning about it
Yeah, the defender armor definitely fucked me over long term. I never had to worry about planning through base game. The moment I needed to the learning curve of traps, gathering, and general prep hit me like a truck and the game became sooo frustrating
So i started mhw few months ago, only played for about 5-10 hours. Then i quit the game, came back few days ago cause i really wanted to like this game. tried all the weapons for about 2-3 hours and landed on SnS... Now im hooked on the game..I just had to find the right weapon for me
first perk you should want early and have the entire time is 3x mushroommancer... if you played the game one time with it.. you will never want to use potions again
Thank you for the guide! I just got back into MHW since it originally launched. Played the game to platinum on ps4 and wasnt motivated to buy for pc. Been having a blast and your video helped me remember a lot. I wanted to ask too what was the white armor you used in the video at around 26:54
I mained insect glaive on release, got stuck very infrequently, I'm back now and while I only have a couple hours on this new character, I have been using the guardian alpha armor and defender weapon. I kinda got the feeling it would give me the space to learn charge blade, and that might be, but I'm gonna switch to a crafted weapon ASAP and when I start getting comfortable with it, then I'll switch to some mid low-rank armor (prob a few sets to have the elemental defense I need). 250 armor and 250 elemental defense still doesn't make your first anjanath in years easy though 😅
I am a brand new player who literally started this week and I have to say, this video is fantastic as a brand new beginner coming into this franchise. Both me and my fiance picked the game up and have had fun starting up over the weekend and helping each other out on quests. So…yeah! Thank you very much for your contribution! It is super helpful for helping us complete newbies get started!
I'm kinda sad that I'm just now getting into Monster Hunter World with Wilds coming out so soon. I wish it would've clicked with me sooner so I could've really taken my time with it
I have about 3 months experience in monster hunter, but have been out of it for almost 10 first time i played it was in psp, then when i got my switched i bought monster hunter rise
A word of defense for Defender armor (pun intended): I have an old friend who initially drag me into the MHW, but quickly fell off, when monsters started to actively cart him while evading his combos. Typical newbie hunter experience. I, as a Souls veteran, was much more used to dying and git-guding so it was not a big problem for me. Recently I managed to talk him to try MHW again and Defender armor (alongside with weapons) was available for him despite the fact that he didn't buy Iceborne. I quickly described how it works, he chose to use it and this time we actually successfully cleared main game storyline together. I hope he'll agree to get Iceborne when it'll go on sale. So in the end, Defender armor CAN help you if you struggle with MH's combat, delaying the moment when monsters will actually punish you, giving you more playtime to adjust, I guess.
Tbf, you doubled the difficulty by trying to beat the game multiplayer. So, the Defender gear is more balanced in that concept. Solo, the Defender gear is super OP and trivializes the base game.
@@thedarkemissary not really doubled. Multiplayer scales monsters HP, but the rest becomes easier. Palicoes are still with you when you're in 2-player party, monster has more targets to switch agro to plus I can use stuff like Life powder. We actually progressed thru Iceborne's story and dude I've mentioned dropped off again after Furios Rajang. Oh well.
You didn't mention armor forging. I've never played before; I just bought the game put on the Guardian armor mot realizing it just breaks the game. Now I'm trying to make my own armor from the monsters I kill but for some reason I can't use armor spheres on any armors I create only the base Chainmail/Leather or the guardian armor, not really sure how to upgrade the armor made from monster pieces.
Complete green hunter here (30+ hours). I've people discuss cap vs. kill, where some say you get more rewards for capture and others say you just get different rewards. which one is it? :)
Thanks for the guide. Are you planning on making a similar guide for iceborne? I out in 900 hours years ago but finally picked up ice borne after Monster Hunter Now got me hooked. And I wanted more. Getting back into it was really hard. I forgot a lot of what you mentioned here. Will you do more advanced guides like for the elder milder?
Trying SnS and dabble with the Lance but most comfortable with the DB and looking forward to your Lance guide!! thanks for the amazing video! Im now grinding to reach HR29 for the next quest.
I dont understand what armor to use. If not using Defender armor, what should I use? If going buster sword, should you always use mail? When to use leather armor etc. No idea. Any links to a guide on this?
Extremely overwhelming for me. gosh , can i just hop on and start to hunt monsters without having to look at all these menus and reading so much txt as work irl is already full of these.....
I’m pretty new to the game and I have tried all weapons and it is between long sword or sns. What do you think is better in higher rank activities and even iceborne.
Hi, every weapon in this game is good with practice. Dev team made an amazing job balancing them. For me Longsword is easier to use and also the more you play with it, the better you become thanks to the parry. Sns can be tricky to get used to the lack of range and the fact that you can use items holding block without sheathe however is very fun and has a lot of combinations. Pick which you like most or even use them both.
600 hunts with Hunting Horn, and maybe gonna add more to that soon. Every weapon is viable, but that doesn't mean a weapon that is the best for you does not exist. Try them all out more and really figure out what you like.
ive been avoiding using the defender armour since it seemed very strong and i wanted to learn a bit better, but is using defender weapons the same thing? currently it just feels like it speeds up fights while i still have to dodge, heal, and resharpen (a lot less often than normal). thanks in advance for any advice
The defender weapons are more okay in my book for learning! It's exactly as you said! If you were to get hit all of the time using defender armor you can still complete a quest eventually. But you don't learn how to fight the monsters imo
I have never played a monster hunter game and this is my first experience. I have played 3 hours and I’m mostly flustered. Can we get a menu hunter beginners guide. Why can’t I skip cut scenes, and why are there so many tutorial pop ups . They feel more like phone game adds
I just started monster hunter last week and equipped the defender armour. Guess I have to take it off🥲 I also didn’t know what to prepare and stuff so I just went in empty handed with some heals. So thanks for this

Honestly depending on weapon the best use of sleep is probably a free walk bang.
It's really important that your Palico has a nice outfit that coordinates with whatever you are wearing.
Not true at all, sleep ailment is the perfect time to keep flying around like a frickin helicopter and get a 15 damage hit when it falls asleep
@blackyvertigo Honestly, you're probably right. I'm a hammer main and charged big bang should absolutely do more than it does.
@@fartdonkey8290best part is when it sleeps and your extracts wear out at the same time. Kinsect drill hits like a wet noodle
It's actually crazy how good MHW is. I started in 2024 and it's eating my time and I have no regrets. These guides are extremely helpful!
Literally bought it like a month ago thinking haha it's in discount lets try this quirky Game, it drained My life
Psdt: another month has passed, it still draining My life, the iceborne expansion Is crazy as hell, its like a completely new game and i am still not completing this is crazy dude i have been playing like 3 hours every day before going to the gym dude i bought this damn game in FEBRUARY
Update 2: i am still playing daily, this is hell, i am literally entering the last monsters and farming to be better and testing new weapons the end Game monsters are beating me brutally but Is more a skill issue
I spent 7000+ hrs on this games. With the right group, this game is so great.
@@exoz6771 monster hunter was never about story. you might as well as never mention it. for story you have monster hunter stories 2
also important for beginners, after you get to your mision there will be blue chest with help resources like hp flasks, if you need to trap the monster there should be trap ready. It is also all for FREE.
I started playing yesterday and felt pretty overwhelmed. Thanks for this guide!
Are you still playing the game today?
think if the hunts as actual hunts. go on an expedition and just live off the land. gather herbs to auto craft into potions, kill animals for raw meat and cook well done steaks, learn to time the music for the well done steak. hunt smaller monsters like kestadons and jagras. When you max out your potions, go hunt a great jagras. after you kill it, either go back to camp to eat or eat a well done steak and then repeat the process. Just stay out there, hunting and living off of the land until you're comfortable.
@@texpatinpuertovallarta4288 so, how do you save in between then? I mean it sounds good. I'll try it.
how is it? it's on sale so I'm debating getting it, but I'm scared of being super overwhelmed and having to learn everything just to dislike the gameplay.
one of the more overwhelming parts starting out for me was all the consumables, when to use them and how to craft everything
Ugh dont remind me I need to farm more honey and more herbs 🌿 to make max potions 🧪 😅
@@xDeathCrownx don't forget about the botanical research center guy, great way to get honey. You also don't need to get herbs, you can buy normal potions from the shopkeepers. Hopefully this helps 😂 (you're prolly doing the honey thing but buying potions is nice)
@@nebula8893 yea but when a rarity 8 nergi HBG cost Z 57,000 kinda made me broke lol so now i not just need to farm but get more money also lol 😂
In my opinion capcom should just remove the crafting material for consumables. Instead you should unlock them by a quest and after completing the quest you should have unlimited amounds of the item. No one I know likes to grind for consumables
Im so happy theres still a good community after so long even with the game being finished theres still people playing what an amazing game
Love it.
I went to Monster Hunter blind. Really enjoyed my experience. But its useful to understand what these various things mean in the game
I haven't played MH since Freedom Unite. I must have been living under a rock because I haven't heard of World until now. I can't wait to fall down the rabbit hole again.
MHFU fan let’s go - good old PSP days
Just bought the game today have never played a monster hunter game before -WOW the learning curve is no joke SO much stuff. Thanks for guide hopefully Ill get the hang of things.
Tip to new players upgrade your farming as soon as possible it will help you in the long run. You can do this by completing side quests or turn in certian items.
As a longtime fan of the series who got into it with _MH Freedom Unite_ back on the PSP, I appreciate your content and seeing the community grow bigger and bigger by the day. +1 sub
I just bought the game with my brother, thank you for the information you've given us.
Bro you couldn’t have started playing at a perfect time. You got World, Iceborne for now and Wilds coming out next year 🔥🔥🔥
World is a Ok MH to beginn with.
Is rise not mention worthy?@@datgio4951
So far, MH peaked with World/Iceborne.
I camped that legiana armor hard on my very first playthrough just for that skill and evade window. took forever to convince myself to switch off of it.
this was a really great video! been playing now for 50-60h and there is still so much to learn and uncover. i just recently finished the base game (well the main story) and have been set foot into iceborn for the first time, which is so much more complex and tough in my opinion. currently looking for any information i can get to give me an edge on those strong monsters waiting for me :)
thank you a lot!
im a new player to MHW and this guide really help me so much to understand the basic of the game as a beginner

There is a place with metal chains with which you can interact with as a shortcut going to places like the workshop and the canteen, much faster in my opinion.
(In addition, you can also go to your room, in case you want to, and to the Gathering Hub for multiplayer)
He explains that near the start
I just started playing the game again and once again I’m hooked.
I didn't see you mention these, but there are various elevators around Astera that you can use as shortcuts to the canteen, workshop, gathering hub, etc...
It's at 07:20!
@@TeraRyza ah, my bad. Totally missed it.
I appreciate the video just wished I had it about 4 months ago when I started the game I'm already towards the end of the base game, but the video is very detailed for anyone who's new and you did a great job ❤
Right?! I meant to have this out wayyyy earlier but sadly never got around to it. Hopefully it helps those for the rest of the year before the next game hits!
with all these new games being released, except a few, this is still the few games that you buy and thats it, all the content is right there
Just found your video, It`s really good!
I`ll share with a friend that is starting, tkx for it!
Thanks for this guide I just started playing today and got to the 3 star rank things I’m having fun using the hammer
What would a combat guide look like? This was incredibly helpful even without a combat guide and I’m glad I found your video!
1 hour is so casual I was expecting 4 hours hunts lol
@@eldonhectorif your hunt is taking 4 hours that means you're really bad at the game. Eventually you should get to a point where hunts are 30 minutes or less
@@ghoulishgoober3122 tbf anything above 25min you already doing something pretty wrong, you only should take that long in a new powerful monster or at start of the game/dlc where you dmg will be lacking

At least they should make it crystal clear why they designed it but they just wrote something like "if you're new, use this gear, it's great"
Who would not pick it at first?
Wow 10 mins into the guide and I have learned so much
The advice to skip the Defender armour might proove the best advice. I like the habits a player should develop. Seems like a logical way to go trough.
I’ve just come over from rise. I love how everything looks more realistic. The game feels more grounded, less cartoony.
Boomerang is used to set the bomb barrel explode. I played mhu but i am a beginner now in mhw. Thanks for the tips
The onboarding process for this game has been atrocious. I feel so lost all the time, and taking down monsters takes FOREVER. Not a great experience so far, hoping that it gets better eventually.
Did you end up loving it or what
@ I did actually! Took me about 15 hours or so to figure out just one weapon type though. It really is rough for newcomers
@@KommandrKody yeah kinda ridiculous how there’s so many tutorials in the game yet they kinda mean nothing lol

@@Jenna_Talia lol based on the beta wilds is much better than any previous one. But you don’t know how insane it is you’d come and mention Witcher 3. Crazy timing. So I wanted to go back and give it another try since I didn’t play much of it. The update isn’t as good as I hoped but I might still keep playing this time. Witcher definitely isn’t as bad as monster hunter though lol
Best guide I've found! Thanks!
Binoculars should not take pouch space like why would I waste a slot with that maybe in wilds it’ll be useful
I really hope in Wilds they have improved menu navigation haha. Especially when selecting decorations
Also, I just realized there wasn’t really anything like the old rusted and ancient weapons from prior games in World.
In World thats not the case, you always get more for Capping and the only reason to kill is for Elder dragons that cant be capped, or if for some reason its easier to kill the monster than Cap it.
first time watching this guy and i just bought the game i like these types of games but have not played one since my 3D's back in like 2012 lol
How do you prepare for fights ?
what is sharpness?
Where is the control screen? So I know what buttons I can press
How do I know what effects a monster has is there another screen for that ?
I've heard this game is grind but man just looking at all the tips I'm getting already overwhelmed
Now im hooked on the game..I just had to find the right weapon for me
Best guild and the best tip was to not use the defense armor it makes a difference and easy the game on the beginning but later is a problem
first perk you should want early and have the entire time is 3x mushroommancer... if you played the game one time with it.. you will never want to use potions again
Thank you for the guide! I just got back into MHW since it originally launched. Played the game to platinum on ps4 and wasnt motivated to buy for pc. Been having a blast and your video helped me remember a lot. I wanted to ask too what was the white armor you used in the video at around 26:54
I just found out this morning you can use a monster as a battering ram and knock another monster out with a clutch mount
I've been playing since Freedom on PSP and NEVER used any charms, jewels, or decorations lmao, I have to learn how to use them before wilds LMOA
You forgot that you can fight the monster again if you capture it and get more matirials from it
A word of defense for Defender armor (pun intended):
I have an old friend who initially drag me into the MHW, but quickly fell off, when monsters started to actively cart him while evading his combos.
Oh well.
Everyone knows never add to wishlist dude 😂 the game rng will know you want it and not give it to you to keep you playing
i started yesterday wish i watched the part to not equip the defender armour before hand sob
You didn't mention armor forging. I've never played before; I just bought the game put on the Guardian armor mot realizing it just breaks the game. Now I'm trying to make my own armor from the monsters I kill but for some reason I can't use armor spheres on any armors I create only the base Chainmail/Leather or the guardian armor, not really sure how to upgrade the armor made from monster pieces.
i startet world watched taht right now lol u did good budy:D
Just started this game. I feel bad for my 9 month old son. dudes never gonna know his dad. RIP.
Complete green hunter here (30+ hours). I've people discuss cap vs. kill, where some say you get more rewards for capture and others say you just get different rewards. which one is it? :)
Typically you get an extra reward depends on the entry. But capturing for sure gets you a better chance at better materials
@@TeraRyza Thx for clarifying, perhaps I will start capturing more (if I can control myself)
I just started playing MHW and I'm really enjoying it but I wish I could find people to play with and go on hunts :(
Thanks for the guide. Are you planning on making a similar guide for iceborne? I out in 900 hours years ago but finally picked up ice borne after Monster Hunter Now got me hooked. And I wanted more. Getting back into it was really hard. I forgot a lot of what you mentioned here. Will you do more advanced guides like for the elder milder?
friendly reminder that you can capture the monsters instead of kill them
i am anew player to monster hunter and i just realized that i am fucked because i have been using the defender armor
Trying SnS and dabble with the Lance but most comfortable with the DB and looking forward to your Lance guide!! thanks for the amazing video! Im now grinding to reach HR29 for the next quest.
Have fun with that quest i would use ranged on that one. Same when you hit the HR 49 quest. Bow would be good since it shares skills with duel blades.
I started 2 days ago and force quit it as it was a bit confusing
I dont understand what armor to use. If not using Defender armor, what should I use? If going buster sword, should you always use mail? When to use leather armor etc. No idea. Any links to a guide on this?
Returning to world and man do I need help, have yet to get to icebourne
