I am a greatsword main. I eat glue and remove tails and other pesky body parts. I harbor no malice towards any weapons you choose to bring. I will share my glue with hammer mains tho.
Ah yes the pattern continues. Non-Charge Blade mains will forever think the Charge Blade is some ridiculously difficult to play weapon while Charge Blade mains are cursed with the knowledge that once you know how to charge your phials and shield, it is actually very unga
Coming from a previous charge blade user. Not long but about 30 hours of it. Less about the charging more about timing with monsters. It’s very unforgiving when going up against faster monsters. I love the charge blade but traded it for the switch axe I feel you get a bit of the same play style and feeling but like a 50% increase in mobility of course the trade in is the big damage
I mean the reason why it's a difficult weapon has nothing to do with the actual weapon functions itself of charging phials. It's guard points and the long wind up and commitment to high damage attacks.
It is not about phials it's when you utilize them without wasting since you're stuck in a big animation lock. It's not he hardest weapon but author just doesn't know much about the game since he put SnS in easy which is wrong
One thing to take into account when choosing a weapon, its the decorations. Some weapons are straight up worst without the right decos. Specially the stamina consumption ones like bow or dual blades
I remember unlocking Kinsect Slash at the start of Rise Sunbreak and immediately trying to use it for a full aerial IG playstyle and thinking "wow, this sucks. I never have enough stamina". I hadn't played much with Bow or DB at the time, pretty much just mained IG all through Worldborne and Rise base game, so low stamina wasn't an issue I was used to having with my grounded IG playstyle. A couple hunts later, I decided to completely change my Armor and Decorations to give me Constitution 5 and Stamina Surge 3, and suddenly Kinsect Slash/Diving Wyvern aerial IG was clearing hunts faster and safer than I had ever done before in Rise. Completely changed how I played the rest of the expansion. Obviously, I know now that this is just a pretty strong playstyle overall, but had I never changed my build, I probably would have finished Sunbreak spamming Tetraseal Slash into every monster and not even know how good aerial IG is in Sunbreak. That was probably the day I learned how much your build actually matters for a playstyle.
I never mained Lance or Gunlance but I follow some CCs. The amount of skills required for these weapons to feel decent is insane. Sharpess, Block, Evade Window and Extender then you can go for DMG.
Yep this is why i think bow is THE hardest. You gotta waste so much deco slots on forceshot, spread/powershot, bow charge plus that my only "defensive" skill is constitution, otherwise you're leaving so much damage
Same here brother I love light bow guns management play style I feel like Batman preparing my ammo and taking account reload speed and recoil and if a certain gun affects ammo differently Tho early on forgetting ammo and not having enough resources was annoying
its also about investment, i consider bow easy cause its been my main weapon throughout most of the series, and im new to hammers so i consider it hard, its about learning the weapon and timing of the monsters, the only thing we all can agree is if you use longsword try not to stagger your allies
@@idkwatimdoingtbh SnS will always be on the backfoot sadly just because of what it looks like. The first impression is just too important for most players (casuals) so they would rather play a big sword or a weapon with cool effects. All we can hope for is for the stigma of the SnS being a beginner weapon and the Hunting Horn being a Support weapon to subside.
Maybe the weapon picking guide (dialouge with Alma) at the start of Wilds will alleviate some of that preconception as the SnS will probably no longer be the default. All depends on how the weapon is described in game though xD
He put S&S in easy, EASY! I swear the skill ceiling for S&S is extreme and dps on the weapon in World is insane! (I'm actually worried wilds won't bring it back to its glory like in worlds. :(
there are two wolves inside me: One is a hammer main, who attacks only the head in reckless abandon, regardless if a few people get upswinged. One is a Lance main, that will never un-scheathe his weapon, and just keeps charging and countering against anything thrown at it
Bow is very hard because people watch Bow speed run and think this guy is button smashing while dash dancing. Let me do it. As you described, bow has half melee part where you wait for monster to do an action before smashing any button.
At least for base world, I found how being one of the best weapons. It got me through all of the arch tempers with minimal effort. Dragon pierce did soooo much damage on xenojiva.
@@matthewharrington420 I think there is also a difference in difficulty for some weapons between "hunting successfully" and "playing optimally/ fast clearing". I see bow in a similar place to SnS in this. SnS is pretty simple to understand and be successful with (i.e. higher margin for error) but playing at optimal DPS is very hard due to all the tech you can use to squeeze out the last 5% damage potential. Bow is similar, as playing at optimal DPS requires heavy stamina and range management to ensure constant uptime. Dragon Piercer for example is very high damage but actually one of the lowest dps attacks the bow has (apart from coconuts), because of the long wind-up animation. That doesn't matter though if you're not going for speed. That's what I like about the bow. Also dashing around attacks while managing attack levels looks just so elegant, I can never get bored watching it.
Lance is love lance is life. Perfecting the lance literally makes you undamageable. It makes most hunts four to five minutes long with the right build. Constant counters, constant damage, and probably the most uptime on damage out of any weapon.
call me crazy but perfecting Lance it’s basically playing dance dance revolution, following the rhythm of the fight 😂 or maybe it’s because my main is HH (Lance is secondary) and my brain only works in melodies by now 😂
@@OhjiiGlacier you don’t play it apparently because you can counter everything clutchclaw counter is just a bonus that was added with iceborne and you don’t even need it unless you need to tenderize a monster 5 guard, 3 offensive guard and 1 shield jewel literally makes you unkillable and you attack one to 3 times between blocking /countering attacks from the monster
@@Lv1Jolteon you miss read my friend; the only thing that guarantees damage ON A LANCE MAIN is the clutch counter. While tenderizing; if the monster is doing another attack after the one you just countered, you can't do nothing but take the hit while you're clutched
SNS is prolly the wierdest in its low skill floor with it's easy mobility but executing a perfect rush is actually fairly complicated. Flicking the joystick back is not easy with the camera angles. I dont see many players in myltiplayer even know how to perfect rush from neutral guard backhop or from slinger burst. It takes the sns from corner healing tier to highest melee dps for freestyle speedruns in iceborne.
SnS is so insanely rewarding to get good at. What got me into trying to play the SnS at a higher level is watching an Alatreon speedrun and seeing the backhops and PRs that deal more dmg than a TCS haha
I wish it would look less pathetic in comparison (visually). I just can't take a needle as a sword and a shield that can barely block anything serious.
You clearly havent played any MHW ... the highest meele dps in the game is HBG ... Spread ammo makes u be closer inside the monster than 80% of the other weapons ... change my mind
"The weapon which I'm pretty sure has an actual cult following behind it: the hammer" Yes and in case any of you newcomers are interested to join the cult you have to use a hammer and unga the bunga. Pretty straightforward if you ask me.
Another nice thing about Lance that many people don't know is that it can do either Blunt or Slicing hitzone damage, the game choosing the stronger one. So it always has good weakspot damage multipliers; go for the head or tail, doesn't really matter. It still counts as slicing, no KO or Exhaust, but it still adopts the damage multipliers. I think they call it "piercing damage" iirc.
@@TeraRyza gotta do what you gotta do, i just got back into the game and thought to try some new weapons that i never used before, and i picked all 3 of the very hard ones without knowing Lol
CB is easy. There are only 2 things that make the weapon difficult. Animation commitment of AED/SAED and head sniping with AED. The rest doesnt really make the weapon difficult. You simply need a bit of setup thats all. Not difficult but takes a little prep. Like IG for example with collecting buffs.
I absolutely love how balanced the weapons in this game are. I've only tried out the Great sword, Hunting horn, long sword, charge blade (but I still suck so much with this weapon), and the insect glaive and I love all of them. I find that in most games I end up just sticking with one or two weapons after trying many out, but so far there isn't a weapon I don't want to play anymore after trying it out for at least a few hours. Great tier list, I agree with the rankings for the weapons I've tried out!
As a CB main, I feel like the CB is often overrated on it’s difficulty. It’s a very complex weapon and is very hard to explain, but it is much easier in practice than it is on paper. You can completely ignore things like guard points or savage axe mode and still be a competent CB player. And the rhythm of charging phials is a lot more intuitive in an actual hunt. Still one of the more difficult weapons but not the insane difficulty some people make it out to be.
As a fellow CB main, I agree. It isn’t as hard as people make it out to be, though it is difficult to pick up on initially, as panic pressing will definitely get you killed with this weapon. However, though I agree on ignoring guard points, I have to disagree with ignoring savage axe mode, as I believe that has to be your bread and butter go-to.
Yeah, people who don't really play much CB always think it's super difficult but really it's just slightly complex. Once you know the basics of charging your phials and shield it's actually pretty unga and flowcharty
@@wiltmarlonelao im kinda of the opposite as in guard point is actually very important to keep you comfortable with cb and ignoring savage axe is perfectly fine cuz you can just guard point into AED spam. That way your sharpness doesnt depleted like water and phial management is alot less.
I think a lot of what makes a weapon easy or hard is just how often you get the chance to reposition or block. Therefore slower weapons need more experience to set up their heavy hits reliably. But I think a lot of this changes in iceborn, once you really have some skills and cool armor to play around with.
@@bangad8722 I actually disagree with SnS having the lowest skill floor. The basic combo is extremely weak and you are not even supposed to block. A new player would definitely have an easier time with Hammer or Greatsword. Even Greatsword really only needs the draw attack to get started with as a new player.
@@kawkawshi775 well with sns you have mobility + can use items while unsheathed. So yeah for me, sns is the easiest to pick up. Tried it a few times with end game monsters (fatalis, alatreon etc) very high dps and uptime compared to gs and hammer.
As a lance/hammer main I have to say it: Lance is way easier than hammer . Yea, hammer is unga bunga as hell, true... But bro, lance have 1 combo to atack, 1 combo to counter and the most OP shield of the game. Soooo easy.
As an insect glaive main.. It's possible to solo the entire game with the insect glaive. It's the most mobile fast hitting and rappid hitting weapon there is. You just need to know how to use it to its fullest.
Regarding weapons i played heres my take on difficulty: S-Tier: Greatsword, Switch Axe, Frostcraft Long Sword A-Tier: Charge Blade, Gun Lance B-Tier: Long Sword, Hammer, Insect Glaive, Bow C-Tier: Dual Blades, Heavy Bowgun, Light Bowgun Some weapons between B and C-Tier could be switched around like hammer and bow but overall i think this reflects aspects of: - complexity of the weapons - knowledge requirement for Monsters - Timing - commitment These things result in the ease of use of a weapon. The S-Tier weapons require a great deal of timing (iai Slash, hop dodges, TCS) and knowledge of monsters. The A-Tier weapons require some setup (phials and the GL blast thingy). CB has quite some commitment which is the actual reason its in A-Tier. Whoever argues with guard points is a joke as GP are very easy to use. Especially since 90% of the time you use the easy axe one which has a huge window to use. I actually think HBG should be a tier higher up as well as it has quite some ammo managment.
@@strateks9611 the list only contains weapons that i personally played. I dont have much knowledge about sns. Some things that could be difficult is a) range b) execution regarding perfect rush. However i really dont know much about it. I think i also touched upon the fact that this is only weapons that i personally played.
As a charge blade main, its a lot eaiser than most people think, so for newer players who like the flashiness but are intimidated by its reputation, pick it up and try it out!
I’m the only one who plays SnS among my friends and everyone who tried it told me that SnS is extremely hard for them. Mostly bc of its short range and if you don’t know how to properly choose what moves to use and when to stop when smashing the buttons, you’ll always put yourself in a very dangerous situation
Bow's a weapon you can get really good with but you can never stop getting better with if you commit to it. No matter how good you already are, if you look at your gameplay you'll find something to improve at, even if just slightly, and continuously pushing towards that skill ceiling and watching your DPS continue to go higher feels so satisfying
I think some of the difficulty of SnS comes from timing back hops for i-frames. this allows us to keep up the damage and opens up windows of attack in places you just don't expect
For me personally, easiest to learn for me was Longsword and it was the easiest to "master" aswell. The hardest to learn was the Charge Blade but the hardest to master for me was the Bow. SnS is actually hard to master because it requires you to master the back hop
Of course I knew you would place it in its right spot, but when it comes to other creators, the first thing I always check in difficulty tier lists videos, to see if the person knows what they're talking about, is where they place Great Sword. If they put them in the easy/beginner weapon tier, then I know they actually don't know a lot about Monster Hunter.
HH main here literally the only weapon I have used so far lol, I found it fun to pick up and the ability to apply buffs is cool. Also being able to switch the horn around for different buffs makes it a ton of fun IMO
One fact is that some armore are linked to specific weapons whether we like them. While some other weapon are more free to use almost all armores. Heavy or light bowguns or even Bows requiere specific armores to get those specially abilities active.
The charge blade is difficult/ complex narritive needs to end. After barely playing it couple years ago i started a charge blade only run less then 2 weeks ago and learned it. Its no wheres near as difficult as its made out to be. And yes it is versitile but managing phials and charges is not that difficult. Id say high difficulty to learn at first but once you learn it, it stops being difficult and flows extremely well. Only weapons ive never touched is hammer and hunting horn at this point and sure charge blade is difficult compared to most of the roster to learn at first but its not complicated. Had alot harder time learning gunlance and sns tbh. That being said full agree on my other 2 main wep placements on dual blades and lance. Argueably the most easy to learn wep is the dual blades and lance does have some things that take some time to get use to
I think you argue Hard to Very hard for the LS yes it has fast and relatively easy attacks to land because of the reach, but the amount of monster knowledge you have to have in order to actually be good with let alone amazing at it is INSANE. Its not just about hitting that spirit helm breaker over and over there is so much more that goes into the LS that some people don't realize because they don't have the time spent on it to learn it.
I see a lot of comments kinda going to town on each others weapons but let’s be real, its not always the weapons fault, it’s usually the player behind it. Can’t tell you how annoying it is to try to stagger a monster using the appropriate weapon and a hammer yeets you, a Longsword user trips you because slapping a flinch free deco can make certain builds crash. Or getting repeedtely poked by a lance user. Some peeps just rush hunts expecting to end well.
I might actually try out every weapon in Wilds. In World I didn't like the feel of weapons outside of Insect Glaive, Gunlance, Long Sword and Switch Axe.
The SnS Starts as a good beginner weapon but If you want to master it, it is one of the complex weapon in the Game To put it in easy is Just wrong and Shows that you dont understand the weapon at all
SnS is really deceptive weapon. It feels really simple and easy when you pick it up but when you start to get deeper into the rabbit hole you start to notice it needing to have good spacing as you have a really short range and almost all of the good attack string require to to face in the right direction and you have to master that or you are going to swing a lot of air xD. Same thing with the s and how to get the maximum out of the weapon. Yes easy to spam and use but the skill sealing to go to the top is just crazy. I am no means a good sns player but even I have fell in love with the complexity this weapon brings to the table. I like all the weapons that have lead me to be SnS main and I like the fact that it combines many of the benefits of the earlier weapons that I have used. From greatsword to insect glave to lance. Sword and shield can be a mini version of all of those weapons and I just like my small butcher knife and buckler :)
SnS main here, completely disagree with you. Your comment shows that you don't understand what type of video it is. You sound a little insecure and focused on what other people think about your main weapon. But you should just drop that insecurity, it's okay to like an easy weapon. Because more importantly than easy, it's *fun*, which is why I main it too. And even if it was a tier list of end game difficulties (which it isn't), it still wouldn't even make Hard tier, it's more like Moderate. So for a tier list like this, Easy is just fine. Because if you really don't see why SnS is easy, I don't think you actually understand the weapon either. There's a good reason why it's so popular with beginners.
Charge Blade Main here. Loved that weapon and went 300% investment in learning this weapon. I switched to insect glance recently too. Took a lot of practice but I got it somewhat. Staying in the air is fun but some low to the ground enemies you don’t get that luxury. Just gotta use that enhanced combo move set lol.
1:12 ik this is about weapons tier list but how you get the bonus damage, the one that when you hit the bar goes down but when you seathe it it starts to recharge? Im searching where i can do that for a long time its because of i want to use it to kill fatalis on my own
came here to check the sword and shield for OBVIOUS reaasons... update: -main weapon -saves the best for last -underrated hope you live a happy life, wish you the best
LS is only easy once you know monster paterns. Do a blindrun with LS and get frudtrated as you dont get one single counter. Once you know monster patters its easy, but like many other weapons like hammer, db, glaive..
one of the few lancecannon here :) once you get ahold of it, it's not that hard as it seems to be, just manage right your charges / harpoon ! and... don't forget.. EXPLOSIONS ! :')
As someone who has as someone who just recently started using bows I don’t really think they’re hard to learn Sure the stamina is a pain but like … just build You get constitution and stamina surge and you’re all good Also to those who watch guide on bows Don’t listen to them about not using the arc shot and the Big Bang shot I’ve been in multiple games so far with a bow and I haven’t seen anyone having a problem with the arc shot and the arc shot is by far one of the bows best abilities The stagger potential is really good and could probably be on par or better then the hammer stagger And the Big Bang shot It’s easier to get a straight body shot than you might think and also its genuinely just fun and very satisfying seeding it hit Also is one of the only things you can use to cut tails off with so yea… apart from piercing pods of course and the bow slinger ability is just so good Its stagger is insane Damage is high And the possibility of breaking parts is really good as well Honestly bow is probably one of the best weapons in mhw And if you can’t be bothered fighting normally then just use the arc shot alot XD They get staggers and exhaust really fast and sure the damage might be 1-7 7i think at max idk but that’s a content 1-7 about 2-3 times in a second and you can spam it meaning it’s 1 damage x5 or so in a second now Obviously that damage is extremely low and will take forever to kill something with but hey It’s a really safe option XD Anyways I wouldn’t say bow is at an extreme learning curve I would say probably moderate-hard
I would say for Switch Axe, it should move to at least Hard due to what you said about the hops, and having to monitor the sword gauge to prevent the automatic switch.
Hello, do you have a guide for pc controls on this? I just bought it this weekend for the sale and the pc controls is very unusual and foreign. If it’s more practical to get a controller, I’ll pick one up but if KB&M works in a certain configuration or tips i’d love it!
i disagree with the charge blade and switchaxe placements. charge blade is daunting for newcomers but once you learn its moveset its very easy and linear to use. both saed and savage axe are very simple playstyles and id argue have a much lower skill ceiling on damage uptime than something like switchaxe, which in the right hands has some of the highest damage potential in the game. switchaxe requires IMMACULATE positioning and monster knowledge, very similarly to greatsword, with the added different forms and axe and sword buffs to upkeep, i consider it to have a MUCH higher skill ceiling than unga bunga charge blade saed playstyle. nothing against CB users, i just think its very overrated in the "difficulty" department. to me its equivalent to the insect glaive in that once you learn how it works, it becomes a very easy weapon to play and doesnt require much thought. just my thoughts tho
As a Charge Blade main in world, I agree. The CB is very simple that I feel is seen as a very hard weapon to learn purely because it’s kinda over explained when learning it by the game and RUclipsrs. I have a friend who wanted to learn it but never did because he always believed it to be a really complex and difficult weapon to play. It took me like 5 minutes to teach him everything and in the process it made him realise how easy it truely is.
@@Gwa-Senpai respect for being honest. charge blade is awesome, and its sad that it gets a reputation of being an "extreme difficulty" weapon, and ends up scaring off alot of players who might try it, when in reality, 5 minutes of learning it is really all you need, the rest is just practice, and that is the same with every other weapon. cheers.
@@Gwa-SenpaiSame, told a friend "charge the sword by doing THIS, charge the shield by doing THIS, then when opportunity presents itself blast all that I it's face with THIS attack. See the attack patterns u have? Mix them up and see what u like, but always work towards the big attack". Dude tested it on Pukei, and went straight to Alatreon.
@@Gwa-Senpai CB main here and I 100% agree, CB has a lot of moving parts that allow for developing your own unique playstyle and that’s what I love about the weapon but when boiling it down to its primary gameplan it can be described as deal damage to charge phials -> charge shield -> deal damage to charge phials -> slam the monster with whichever flavor of axe damage you prefer. It obviously goes deeper as your playstyle develops but the idea that CB is this incredibly deep weapon that takes a ton of skill to use is kinda funny when SAED spam is debatably just as unga as something like hammer
@@Gwa-Senpai it has a high skill floor and leaves a lot of room at the top to become better and better. timing 3 y's to fill from yellow to red perfectly in time for a guard point to block a roar or attack is not easy. compared to other weapons its easily one of the most difficult to master
Lance is such a fun "easy to learn hard to master " weapon. You CAN play it like you would in Dark Souls. i.e. attack when it's your turn, block when it's not your turn, dodge grabs, but we both know the lance can be so much more. It's a challenge. A challenge not of how well you can survive (it's the lance, you're not going to die) but a challenge of how aggressive you can be without getting hit. You have more than enough tools to never stop attacking, the real question is, can you do it?
As someone who played mh rise with dual blades, I can definitely agree it's an easy weapon and I'm glad I was introduced to the series with it. I feel like I'm graduating moving to world and trying to decide between longsword, switch axe, and insect glaive as my next weapon to learn
Hey, love the videos. Haven't caught you live yet or in game. Hopefully one day. Hopefully you see this, (I'm sure many people do this I'm sorry) I had a unique idea for a monster hunter video that after I looked online haven't seen anyone do it. Could work between streamers/content creator or to an extent with your viewers. Lmk if you're curious.
I really want to get into Monster Hunter as a series and 'get good' before Wilds drops. What I really need is a defensive / safety tier list. Shield HBG got me to High Rank, but I still keep feeling like I am "playing wrong" somehow...
well you can beat the game with all 14 weapons so there’s not a wrong way to play. also they all have a skill ceiling, good players can make all the weapons look impressive. maybe try a melee weapon instead of ranged to learn the combat a little more? Hammer is pretty simple & the blunt damage is satisfying when you get KOs. Also gunlance has a shield and the attacks are flashy and pretty cool, maybe try that
if you really want some perspective on how the game works I'd try something completely opposite to what you are used to, probably something like hammer or longsword, I'd say bow but that one is tough to learn I beat the game only maining longswords and had a lot of fun but not too long ago I started the game again and decided that I'd try a little more variety so I've made a different weapon for each element and I've learned a whole lot about the different weaknesses and strengths they have, granted I'm a veteran of the series but in worlds there's no wrong weapon choice, they are all great so trying them all out gave me a lot of perspective and made me fall in love with 5 weapons, not just the one, it's a bit more upkeep for your brain trying to master multiple weapons at once, but weapons like the hammer are just a blast to play with and simple to learn So maybe it'd be better if you didn't just switch to a different weapon with a shield but instead learned monster's attack patterns by having to dodge them and stuff like that, it'll for sure make you better at the game overall
Just started mhw last week. Got 25h in it rn. Stuck on nergigante. Had to stop trying the quest and start farming sets. Done kadachi bow to farm legi bow for b.diablos/azure rath set. Stuck on legi farming cuz damn claws wont drop. Also done like 10 juura for that stupid 1 aqua sac. Im having fun with bow. Its the coolest weapon imo. Especially rank 7 upgraded kadachi and legi bow looks really good. Looking forward to kulve/kjarr when i unlock them later
I think you have one of the most legit rankings as you had to get good enough with every weapon to be able to solo fatalis with, so you have actually played all weapons to a competent state.
HH should be swapped with SA in difficulty. The only really hard part with HH is minding your song uptimes. Its good mobility, long reach, and simple attacks make it easy other than for when you need to do a recital/encore.
Here's a tier list from someone who has actively studied each weapon like his life depended on it (I have no life). Hardest to easiest being 5-1, from left to right 5: HH, CB 4: GL, GS 3: SA, L, IG 2: LS, H, SnS, B 1: LBG, DB, HBG This takes into consideration a lot of things like skill floor and ceiling, armor skill tax, mechanical difficulty, monster knowledge requirement, etc etc. Too long to really go into detail
Comparing thumbnail to end results (+/- tiers of difficulty) GS: +1 tier LS: -2 tiers SnS: -3 tiers DB: unknown in thumbnail HMR: -2 tiers HH: +1 tier LNC: -1 tier GL: +1 tier SA: -1 tier CB: +3 IG: unknown in thumbnail Bow: unknown in thumbnail LBG: unknown in thumbnail HBG: no change Final results: HBG was only correct position in final video CB and SnS tied for least accurate representation of final ranking All unknowns stayed in their respective tiers (1 in very hard, 1 in moderate, 2 in easy, none in hard) Final tier difference: 15 tiers
For fun, I figured up the max tier changes possible if the unknowns were shown in the thumbnail. For this, bow and ig would have to have been easy in the thumbnail, with lbg and db taking their spots in any order. This would result in a total displacement of 9 tiers. Minimum displacement would obviously be if they all were shown in the correct spots. Adding this to our base gives a total tier displacement of 24, fairly clickbaity
When this game came out i mained insect glaive and got through the whole game, only getting stuck a few times (teamed up with randos and we always crushed it). I had my gameplay loop down pretty well and knew where the three buffs came from on almost every monster, so I was very infrequently attacking without being supercharged. But its been years since ive played so im trying out charge blade, and I dont have home internet so I cant get bailed out at any point lol
I started with mh rise and I only used SNS in that game And how I’m playing world and im picking up the GS and I’m having a blast I have a question Does my armor matter at the beginning of the game?
I'd actually put longsword in first place for how easy it is to play, its a literally perfect weapon, no downsides whatsoever and the only thing that could possibly challenge a player is to time iai/foresight.
I would say timing the counters is really hard and finding the right time to do helm breakers is a little tricky, other then that it’s really fun, but I do think it has a really high skill ceiling, it’s like when I watch people like peppo that stuff is so hard to replicate
@@chinnerchilla Iai is hard to get because the timing is hard to get the hang off but not foresight, foresight has a very large window. Helm breakers are really hard to get if you don't wait for a good opportunity. Players like Peppo predict what the monster is gonna do, which makes it way harder to land, crazy stuff really. I'll always go for a prediction rather than an opportunity, it just feels cooler and makes you get better at them.
dude really said the weapons are balanced. did you ever see how much of a gap there is between any ranged and melee weapon? and even within melee weapon some weapons are much weaker, like Lance vs Dual Blades for example.
I played World and IB 2 times. Besides the Horn, lance and bow used every other weapon depending on the monster. This is what I love. Favs are LS, Axe, IG, LBG
Only one hard disagreement on GL. The only suitability is to know that you have a different playstyle depending on the shell. But past that, long and wide shell are just a joke (shell-poke x3 for wide, 3x charge shell for long, recharge at the end for both and repeat). Only normal shell got a combo to learn, but contrary to CB where you have variant of combo + guard point + changing stuff depending on SAED or savage axe playstyle (if you want to optimize the playstyle), the GL combo is 3-4 movement to chain repeat. So... Nothing crazy. Only the mobility is a problem but that where heavy shield come into play. Beyond that, I'm mostly fine, maybe just a tier for some weapons, but that easy to disagree with my personal feeling.
Insect glaive should be in hard difficulty tier. Since you gotta learn the monster cause different parts give different buffs from the kinsect. You also gotta be careful with going airborne as a lot of monsters could just easily swat you of out it. And with some kinsects you gotta position yourself and the monster correctly in order to output damage.
As a newbie I want to pick up lance, I don't like the non-existant damage uptime on GS, but I've heard that without some skills you can't even block some attacks, so I dunno when should I pick it up
Lance is not a beginner-friendly weapon. It is fairly easy to pickup if you have progressed significantly, but before the start of endgame it is frustrating due to lack of necessary resources (Guard-up, health-steal) . When you block, you are subject to knockback and chip damage. Guard skill reduces both and is very easy to obtain from the start. Some attacks are unblockable, unless you have the skill Guard-Up. This becomes available at around the half-point of the game and by the end becomes very easy to obtain. Either way, prior to endgame, these attacks are infrequent and can be dealt with by sheathing your Lance and running/evading. Then there are other attacks in end-game that cannot be blocked, even with Guard-up. The worst aspect of Lance is the chip damage, actually. Even if you play perfectly, you will be forced to sheathe (which is long and annoying). At end-game you have access to health stealing weapons (actually augments) and that is when it starts to shine. GS with draw attack playstyle (no charging unless the monster is CCed), is much easier tbh.
I agree with your assessment. Hbg is the best weapon. Ive never been a bowgun user, out of curiousity made an end game spread build and with 0 skill started killing kushala and teostra in sub 10 minutes with minimal effort. Also tons of other monsters became super easy.
Heavybowgun is flawed though, what's the use of the wyvernsnipe & wyvernheart when clutchclaw & normal, pierce, spread builds got more dps after iceborne release?🤣Lol, they kinda forgot to update the damage values.
Im a bow main i am honestly surprised I didn’t have trouble with it on my first time playing monster hunter i kinda just vibed with the bow unlike the other weapons
I am a greatsword main. I eat glue and remove tails and other pesky body parts. I harbor no malice towards any weapons you choose to bring. I will share my glue with hammer mains tho.
Thx for the glue bro, do you want some crayons?

I know there's only four of us, but glue is quite a delicacy in the switch axe community as well

Ah yes the pattern continues.
Non-Charge Blade mains will forever think the Charge Blade is some ridiculously difficult to play weapon
while Charge Blade mains are cursed with the knowledge that once you know how to charge your phials and shield, it is actually very unga
The same with HH
charge blade -> pretend to attack -> charge blade -> attack unga style -> repeat steps 1-4 till monster ded
This is arguable given that you don't even unlock decorations until high rank.
Ngl, never needed stamina skills for dual blades.
as Hunting Horn main yea its a cult that most of the player denied our existence and we only appear when needed the most.
Hunting horn mains unite.
Best thing about HH for me is I can bring my own earplugs. Get a lot of free damage through roars.
That feeling when my 3 favorite weapons are all in Easy. LBG, Hammer, and SnS.
Look. Im a simple man. I like fighting the monster, not my own weapon.
Regardless of difficulty or skill ceiling, all weapons are amazing
Same here brother I love light bow guns management play style I feel like Batman preparing my ammo and taking account reload speed and recoil and if a certain gun affects ammo differently
Tho early on forgetting ammo and not having enough resources was annoying
its also about investment, i consider bow easy cause its been my main weapon throughout most of the series, and im new to hammers so i consider it hard, its about learning the weapon and timing of the monsters, the only thing we all can agree is if you use longsword try not to stagger your allies
I want more Sword and Shield love from the MH community in general. It might be considered the starter weapon but the skill ceiling for it is insane.
Sadly i doubt we'll see more SnS players in Wilds because it doesn't look like it got anywhere near as much cool stuff as the other weapons.
I love and appreciate every weapon type that comes by for a hunt or two.
He put S&S in easy, EASY! I swear the skill ceiling for S&S is extreme and dps on the weapon in World is insane! (I'm actually worried wilds won't bring it back to its glory like in worlds. :(
there are two wolves inside me:
One is a hammer main, who attacks only the head in reckless abandon, regardless if a few people get upswinged.
@@matthewharrington420yeah I used now all the till I started ice borne now I’m using twin swords and it is phenomenal
Constant counters, constant damage, and probably the most uptime on damage out of any weapon.
call me crazy but perfecting Lance it’s basically playing dance dance revolution, following the rhythm of the fight 😂
or maybe it’s because my main is HH (Lance is secondary) and my brain only works in melodies by now 😂

Only thing that guarantees damage on lance is the clutch counter; but a simple health augment can counter that completely

CB is easy. There are only 2 things that make the weapon difficult.
Animation commitment of AED/SAED and head sniping with AED.
The rest doesnt really make the weapon difficult. You simply need a bit of setup thats all. Not difficult but takes a little prep. Like IG for example with collecting buffs.
@@Corey91666With that reasoning, every weapon is easy 😂
@@NieR042 it's just that people make the cb seem way more difficult and complex than it really is
Gunlance, my beloved.

Charge Blade is my first choice, and it made me a Monster Hunter fan. Such a deep and rewarding combat system just for that weapon.
Switch Axe is only moderate once you equip EW5 and EE3 for defensive options, otherwise it is hard as hell! But once it clicks, it WRECKS
I think a lot of what makes a weapon easy or hard is just how often you get the chance to reposition or block. Therefore slower weapons need more experience to set up their heavy hits reliably. But I think a lot of this changes in iceborn, once you really have some skills and cool armor to play around with.
SNS has the lowest flooring but also the highest ceiling! Pick it up, all! You'll love it, I promise.

@@marshallbrooks2371 literally lowest skill floor. But mid-high skill ceiling
@@bangad8722 I actually disagree with SnS having the lowest skill floor. The basic combo is extremely weak and you are not even supposed to block. A new player would definitely have an easier time with Hammer or Greatsword. Even Greatsword really only needs the draw attack to get started with as a new player.
@@marshallbrooks2371 Give a new player a Charge Blade and watch them bounce on every single attack. Definitely not the hardest weapon to pick up.
Regarding weapons i played heres my take on difficulty:
S-Tier: Greatsword, Switch Axe, Frostcraft Long Sword
A-Tier: Charge Blade, Gun Lance
B-Tier: Long Sword, Hammer, Insect Glaive, Bow
C-Tier: Dual Blades, Heavy Bowgun, Light Bowgun
Some weapons between B and C-Tier could be switched around like hammer and bow but overall i think this reflects aspects of:
- complexity of the weapons
- knowledge requirement for Monsters
- Timing
- commitment
These things result in the ease of use of a weapon.
What about SnS?

SnS speed eat, wide range, recovery up is how i carried my first SoS fatty run. Very fun
I think this is the first tier list I agree with 100%, especially the reasons why they're placed where they are.
The feeling of dancing with the monster is so peak when playing longsword
Of course I knew you would place it in its right spot, but when it comes to other creators, the first thing I always check in difficulty tier lists videos, to see if the person knows what they're talking about, is where they place Great Sword. If they put them in the easy/beginner weapon tier, then I know they actually don't know a lot about Monster Hunter.
As a Lance main, I'm still in shock that someone actually referred to the Lance as a perfectly viable weapon lol

Easiest weapon to learn was the switchaxe on monster hunter tri for the wii, using the nunchuk controller of course

Evade extender HBG has some of the most deceptively amazing mobility in the game
The SnS Starts as a good beginner weapon but If you want to master it, it is one of the complex weapon in the Game
To put it in easy is Just wrong and Shows that you dont understand the weapon at all
I’m an SnS main as well & I agree with you.
I will admit that the SnS isn’t a complicated weapon to get the hang of but as all weapons in MH, it does take some practice to master nonetheless.
Nah SnS not that complicated its a good weapon takes good skill but not that hard im a greatsword main
I love perfect rush
Charge Blade Main here. Loved that weapon and went 300% investment in learning this weapon. I switched to insect glance recently too. Took a lot of practice but I got it somewhat. As someone who has as someone who just recently started using bows
I don’t really think they’re hard to learn
Sure the stamina is a pain but like … just build
You get constitution and stamina surge and you’re all good
Also to those who watch guide on bows
Don’t listen to them about not using the arc shot and the Big Bang shot
I’ve been in multiple games so far with a bow and I haven’t seen anyone having a problem with the arc shot and the arc shot is by far one of the bows best abilities
The stagger potential is really good and could probably be on par or better then the hammer stagger
And the Big Bang shot
It’s easier to get a straight body shot than you might think and also its genuinely just fun and very satisfying seeding it hit
Also is one of the only things you can use to cut tails off with so yea… apart from piercing pods of course and the bow slinger ability is just so good
Its stagger is insane
Damage is high
And the possibility of breaking parts is really good as well
Honestly bow is probably one of the best weapons in mhw
And if you can’t be bothered fighting normally then just use the arc shot alot XD
They get staggers and exhaust really fast and sure the damage might be 1-7 7i think at max idk but that’s a content 1-7 about 2-3 times in a second and you can spam it meaning it’s 1 damage x5 or so in a second now
Obviously that damage is extremely low and will take forever to kill something with but hey
It’s a really safe option XD
Anyways
I wouldn’t say bow is at an extreme learning curve
I would say probably moderate-hard
I would say for Switch Axe, it should move to at least Hard due to what you said about the hops, and having to monitor the sword gauge to prevent the automatic switch.
i taught the same as switch axe main its sometime really really hard to dodge i find hunting horn alot more easy
@@Gwa-Senpai respect for being honest. charge blade is awesome, and its sad that it gets a reputation of being an "extreme difficulty" weapon, and ends up scaring off alot of players who might try it, when in reality, 5 minutes of learning it is really all you need, the rest is just practice, and that is the same with every other weapon. cheers.

I am a dual blade main, I like speedy attacks
Bow main since 2018, LETS GO
Hey, love the videos.
I like the thought put into the chapters startpoints
I really want to get into Monster Hunter as a series and 'get good' before Wilds drops. What I really need is a defensive / safety tier list. Shield HBG got me to High Rank, but I still keep feeling like I am "playing wrong" somehow...
There's a possibility that shield hbg wont be good in wilds so try out more weapons. If you like a defensive weapon then try the lance
there's no wrong way to playing the game dw
well you can beat the game with all 14 weapons so there’s not a wrong way to play. also they all have a skill ceiling, good players can make all the weapons look impressive. maybe try a melee weapon instead of ranged to learn the combat a little more? Hammer is pretty simple & the blunt damage is satisfying when you get KOs. Also gunlance has a shield and the attacks are flashy and pretty cool, maybe try that
You're thinking too hard.
if you really want some perspective on how the game works I'd try something completely opposite to what you are used to, probably something like hammer or longsword, I'd say bow but that one is tough to learn
I beat the game only maining longswords and had a lot of fun but not too long ago I started the game again and decided that I'd try a little more variety so I've made a different weapon for each element and I've learned a whole lot about the different weaknesses and strengths they have, granted I'm a veteran of the series but in worlds there's no wrong weapon choice, they are all great so trying them all out gave me a lot of perspective and made me fall in love with 5 weapons, not just the one, it's a bit more upkeep for your brain trying to master multiple weapons at once, but weapons like the hammer are just a blast to play with and simple to learn
So maybe it'd be better if you didn't just switch to a different weapon with a shield but instead learned monster's attack patterns by having to dodge them and stuff like that, it'll for sure make you better at the game overall
As a greatsword, hammer, switch axe, and S&S main I love big numbers and crayons. 4K GS hunts on world.
I got clickbaited when I saw the thumbnail had Charge Blade in the very easy category 🤣
I think you have one of the most legit rankings as you had to get good enough with every weapon to be able to solo fatalis with, so you have actually played all weapons to a competent state.
How are the bow and gunlance considered very hard weapons? I beat the game with them, but struggle with the supposed easy ones!
DB and Bow are my main weps. I’ll definitely bring them to wilds.
I always run Guard and Evade skills on SnS. Tack on Stun Res and Divine Blessing, and my Hunter is an absolute tank.
I just slap a guard up jewel on and that does everything I need, personally
HH should be swapped with SA in difficulty. The only really hard part with HH is minding your song uptimes. Its good mobility, long reach, and simple attacks make it easy other than for when you need to do a recital/encore.
Here's a tier list from someone who has actively studied each weapon like his life depended on it (I have no life). Hardest to easiest being 5-1, from left to right
5: HH, CB
4: GL, GS
3: SA, L, IG
2: LS, H, SnS, B
1: LBG, DB, HBG
This takes into consideration a lot of things like skill floor and ceiling, armor skill tax, mechanical difficulty, monster knowledge requirement, etc etc. Too long to really go into detail
Comparing thumbnail to end results (+/- tiers of difficulty)
GS: +1 tier
LS: -2 tiers
SnS: -3 tiers
DB: unknown in thumbnail
HMR: -2 tiers
HH: +1 tier
LNC: -1 tier
GL: +1 tier
SA: -1 tier
CB: +3
IG: unknown in thumbnail
Bow: unknown in thumbnail
LBG: unknown in thumbnail
HBG: no change
Final results:
HBG was only correct position in final video
CB and SnS tied for least accurate representation of final ranking
All unknowns stayed in their respective tiers (1 in very hard, 1 in moderate, 2 in easy, none in hard)
Final tier difference: 15 tiers
I started with mh rise and I only used SNS in that game
And how I’m playing world and im picking up the GS and I’m having a blast
I have a question
Does my armor matter at the beginning of the game?
Are you saying ranged weapons are weaker ?
Charge Blade will definitely be my main in Wilds and as the secondary I’ll take either a Sword’n’Shield or Switch-Axe
i agree with it but kinda feel like chargeblade is prty easy to learn then most people think
I played World and IB 2 times. Besides the Horn, lance and bow used every other weapon depending on the monster. This is what I love. Favs are LS, Axe, IG, LBG
I cannot take this dude seriously with the body pillow and the rent a girlfriend banner at the back
Only one hard disagreement on GL.
Hardest part of gs is learning that you dont have to ccs every. Single. Time.
During the switch axe section what layered armor is that?
Im a bow main i am honestly surprised I didn’t have trouble with it on my first time playing monster hunter i kinda just vibed with the bow unlike the other weapons
