When I did this fight, I didn’t have a huge amount of trouble with her other mons but as soon as her Garchomp came out HOLY SHIT. When I saw Swords Dance I nearly had a heart attack. 12:24 That is so in-character, and the reason why she's the best champion. She is elegant, honorable and took her defeat in grace and she's a bit of a clutz too which is very lovable.
PSA: You can't arrive at this levels without grinding, if you play the game just by challenging trainers you will be wrecked by Cynthia like the first time
The moment the music to the battle started my heart started pounding. The new generations of trainers will not know the original fear that came with fighting this champion...nor her dreaded rematch. The constant inventory control and berry holds. The screaming at the DS. Lets not forget spending half the time hearing the "you're gona die" sound.
And thus she keeps the title of best Champion ever. Cynthia always was something else in the Pokémon World. It's not just about her team, she's beautiful, smart, friendly, and holds the first female Champion in the Pokémon history. I think her S Tier Champion ranking will never be challenged. The remakes have proven us we weren't wrong about her superior Champion material.
Personally,I think cynthia is becoming one of the fan favorite champion, by design wise, theme song wise, and team comp wise. Most importantly, memorable, because most of young pokemon players back in the day faced her proper team. I really like that she becomes the first female champion introduced and with her garchomp as an ace, compared to overated pokemon, charizard whom used by many trainers already (also chomp is DPP native).
@@vegaaltair8478 I agree with all that. And also, her team is so well balanced. I played both Diamond and Platinum during the DS era. Back then, I was 17 and already a well seasoned Pokémon player (I've been around since Gen 1) and I must admit she always had been a serious challenge to me. She is not just some pretty girl with the Champion Title. She is a true Champion within. In my opinion, a Pokémon League Champion needs not only to be strong, but also smart, friendly, wise and knowledgeable. And Cynthia fills all of those qualities, even more so in Platinum. Add her beautiful appearance and her badass outfit, and you get the true essence of a Pokémon League Champion.
@@vegaaltair8478 I wish Diantha was given as much respect as Cynthia. In terms of her Pokemon alone, Diantha's team is pretty tough but their movesets leave much to be desired and her Pokemon don't hold items, apart from Gardevoir's Mega Stone. Seriously, why don't Aurorus and Gardevoir have Hyper Voice to activate Refrigerate and Pixilate respectively? Why doesn't Gourgeist use Leech Seed and Will-O-Wisp? And why does Tyrantrum have Head Smash without Rock Head? I also don't like that Diantha uses Goodra because that should belong to Drasna. I'd have Diantha use Blissey instead. Maybe she caught her whilst filming a movie in another region since she isn't available in Kalos. If Diantha uses Goodra at all, save it for rematches.

I just beat Cynthia yesterday and I felt so proud, she was truly so difficult to beat. This is only the second Pokémon game after Sword that I’ve beat so she was a way different experience from Leon who I beat first try. I was under level with my highest level being 61 and the rest 57, but I somehow managed to beat her with my Mamoswine taking out Garchomp with one Ice Beam after he tanked an Earthquake. This was my second attempt so I was shocked. The first time I got through okay but lost at Lucario because he was too quick for my already hurt Pokémon. The second time my shiny Luxray took Lucario out with one Thunderbolt from all of his Charge moves against Milotic before. It really helped to bring him out the second time instead of my Empoleon the first try since everyone on my team was weak to either fighting or steel except Luxray who had already fainted the first time. This battle really makes me want to play Pearl too just for Cynthia again. My full team for this battle was Luxray, Empoleon, Altaria, Gardevior, Mamoswine, and Houndoom.
@@lubbo5261 But 3 Champion fights who make all other Champs look like random Gym leaders certainly does, especially considering that even the E4 already dunk on most Champs in other games.

I honestly think swords dance is better than Dragon dance on her chomp, It's ridiculously fast already, There isn't much out there that can outspeed it, After a dance, In the first battle, It has 522 ATTACK. THATS NUTTY.
I literally beat Cynthia my 3rd try! Using my Kadraba’s Trick Room to slow down Garchomp’s speed which helped me. I finished Garchomp with my Empoleon’s move Ice Beam 💯
This battle was very difficult. I had to use a X-Sp defense on my gardevoir for her to survive a shadow ball from spiritomb, then I just calm minded until I was on full sp attack and sp defense. It was pretty easy to sweep all of her team, until garchomp came out. It killed almost all of my pokemon, so I needed a new startegy. I started swapping between my staraptor and luxray to drop garchomp's attack until it was weak enough for me to survive a hit, but swords dance made this much more difficult. I was almost out of revives and cynthia used up all of her full restores, so I needed to act. My staraptor and torterra were left, and garchomp could outspeed and kill both of them. So I decided to brave bird it to see what would happen. Garchomp got on low yellow, and at that point I already accepted defeat, but for some miracle, Cynthia got cocky and used Swords Dance once more. I used this chance to attack once again with brave bird, and it managed to kill garchomp without dying from recoil or rough skin. It took me several attempts to finally beat her. Also, milotic could survive a six special attack psychic from my gardevoir and mirror coat her to obblivion, so I waited until the burn from the flame orb got her down to the hp I needed to finnish her of.
Those EVs, IVs, Items are scaring me. I have to plan alot. This is probably gonna be run killer for most nuzlockes. I'd probably would ban myself from using Gyarados and X items.
I recently beat the Elite Four and Cynthia a second time. My strategy was type effectiveness in terms of moves and use as much items as possible. I remember when I took down her dreaded Garchomp with my Floatzel by having my Floatzel use Ice Beam 🔥
This battle was crazy difficult for me but I won. Cynthia's Garchomp was powerful. It had Poison Jab, Dragon Claw, Earthquake and Swords Dance. Its ability was Rough Skin and it held a Yache Berry. I had to use so many Hyper Potions and Revives until its PP ran out. It was an amazing battle I had. She's way better (Princess Tutu for Super Smash Bros.!)
My first fight with Cynthia in this game was actually a really smooth experience. I had a gardevoir with dazzling gleam so i one shotted the spiritomb (i trained before the league since bertha killed me off the first time. So all my Pokémon are in the 60's). I expected her to be torturous but she was kind of underwhelming. I was well stocked up on heals, had good planning and had fun. Although her garchomp absolutely abused earthquake which my mew handled like a fuckin boss. Mew was the only one on my team who could tank it a few times without biting the dust. Good thing mew also knew avalanche. Garchomp was no match. All her other Pokémon either died in one hit or 2-3 after a full restore. Fun fight, cant wait for a more challenging rematch
When I first got this game, I was worried they were gonna nerfed her team. Boy I was glad that was not the case. It took me 4 attempts to beat her. I had alot of fun battling her than I did battling the other champions from the latest games.
I mean, he's fairly overlevelled, plus he's playing on set. Any hard-core nuzlocker is going to have a hard time. Not to mention the amount of friendship boosts that kicked in, like clutching from an aura sphere, healing from a burn, landing crits and so on. In a real, competitive, fair battle, Cynthia would have won
Just battled Cynthia in shining pearl last night. It was such a hard battle and I only came out on top thanks to my Torterra hanging on because of a friendship boost. When her garchomp came out last, mine had already fainted. I had Rapidash on red, Torterra on 1 hp, Luxray (with only crunch affecting ground types), and gastrodon. So I sacrificed my rapidash to heal my gastrodon and luckily my gastrodon was tanks enough to take a hit and destroyed it with two ice beams. I've never had to struggle this much for the main story so it was a welcome surprise, especially since the gyms were ABSURDLY easy with exp share. I didn't even need my eyes open for it just spammed the same moves.
Well, Cynthia now terrifies me even more. She has items on every Pokémon, she switches, she replaced her Togekiss with a tanky Gastrodon, and she can somewhat predict switches.
Been playing pokemon for over 15 years. After breezing through the gyms and being overleveled throughout most of the game, I was worried in this remake that the Cynthia battle would be a breeze, unlike the original. I must say, I genuinely struggled with this battle. This improved Cynthia is by far the strongest champion I've faced to date. The perfect stats, abilities, items, moves, all of it was so well done. Keep up the low health sounds Nintendo 😂
She would have even beaten me if I didn't use full restores and revives. I mostly was gonna lose because of the yache berry but I was able to clutch it with 2 more pokemon.
"Just a few minutes ago, you were the most powerful challenger. And just now, you became the most powerful of all the trainers." Words that will go down in history for a 10 year old.
Cynthia's sprite, her battle animations, and the insane power she packed in her Garchomp, what more could I ask for? Probably the best version of Cynthia we'll probably ever receive...
I came prepared with a Togekiss specifically for her Garchomp, but on my first attempt it OHKOed my Togekiss with Poison Jab... So on my next attempt I paralyzed her Milotic with my Luxray and then swapped into my own Garchomp and set up 3 swords dance and used an X Speed. I KOed her Milotic then OHKOed her Garchomp with Dragon Claw. This battle was such a slap in the face after breezing through the rest of the game.
Lol I used a Togekiss too,I knew Garchomp had poison jab so I swapped in my luxray to intimidate it a few times and then went into Togekiss to KO the Garchomp
Mixeli: _switches Luxray with Staraptor after Luxray hits Gastrodon with Fire Fang aftwr Cynthia withdrew her Milotic_ _The opposing Gastrodon used Rock Tomb!_ Darn she's 200 IQ Though now her AI is programmed to always send out Garchomp last unlike the original where she mercilessly sends out Garchomp as soon as you KO one of her pokemon with an Electric type Pokemon like Lixray
So, Mixeli, is it harder than the original? I know the original one was extremely difficult. EDIT: I won on my 1st try. And the piano theme hits different after playing Legends Arceus.

I went in with my team at L65. Defeated her by keeping my Weavile alive vs Milotic until I maxed out Hone Claws. Finished the rest of her team in 1 hit. That was after 4-5 attempts.
4 of the 6 Pokémon i already knocked out. The battle against her Milotic was 20 minutes long because she kept spamming Recover or a Full Restore. After that I got crushed with her Garchomp with +4 attack swords dance + Earthquake. So I got a blackout again even after 15 years of training.

Sent out togekiss since I figured its immune to half Garchomp's moveset, and I could use yawn and just wail on it from there, although fully aware that it'd be another turn before it fell asleep. Garchomp used swords dance, outsped togekiss next turn with a swords dance assisted poison jab and one-shotted me, but fell asleep immediately after. Empoleon got off an ice beam, but Garchomp's yache berry weakened it just enough to avoid triggering a full restore. One more ice beam finished the fight off. When I did this fight, I didn’t have a huge amount of trouble with her other mons but as soon as her Garchomp came out HOLY SHIT. When I saw Swords Dance I nearly had a heart attack. Her Garchomp wiped out everyone on my team so I was forced to rely on my Gastrodon who had Ice Beam and my own Garchomp that I had grinded out to the same level as hers.
My Gastrodon SOMEHOW managed to survive a hit and BY THE GRACE OF GOD got the freeze with Ice Beam. So I swapped to my Garchomp and landed a Dragon Claw for the win.

PSA: You can't arrive at this levels without grinding, if you play the game just by challenging trainers you will be wrecked by Cynthia like the first time
You mean by skipping trainers? And just wild battles?
@@lethal6973 Skipping trainers will just make your whole party faint within a minute
Nah, if you battle every trainer your team will surpass Cynthia super easily, I am surprised how they thought nerfing her would make the game better
Except if you’re me and manage to poison spike and then stall for long enought that they all just die
You can easily get by with just battling trainers, just need to make sure her milotic doesn't stall you out with flame orb and marvel scale
Right this theme gave us old heads chills

If they really wanted this on hardmode, they would have given her Garchomp Iron Head to destroy all Ice and Fairies.
Garchomp doesn't even need to use iron head to kill fairies/ice. Earthquake alone already has 150 base power (because stab) which is basically the same as the 160 (super effective iron head)

Too bad the game kinda sucks
Everyone: BDSP will be the easiest game because the Exp Share is mandatory!

She's way better
(Princess Tutu for Super Smash Bros.!)
Wow, you made it look very easy! Amazing!
When I first got this game, I was worried they were gonna nerfed her team. Boy I was glad that was not the case. It took me 4 attempts to beat her. I had alot of fun battling her than I did battling the other champions from the latest games.

This was the first time i was struggling with a champion fight, i only survived because of the power of friendship.
I mostly was gonna lose because of the yache berry but I was able to clutch it with 2 more pokemon.
glad to know she still incites fear into people's hearts 👍
