I did this yesterday with under leveled people and it’s a completely different fight (only did the first battle haven’t done the rematch yet) The extra challenge is really fun I suggest doing it. No items and no auto switch ins.

Id argue agaunst that. Hgss red had no of the mechanics like the companionship thing, and playing in set mode without legendaries or items makes the fight significantly harder, as well as the lsrge level gap between the lest gym leader and Red.

Rewatching this, I realize that a good idea would be to keep Metagross in when Garchomp came in, and use Magnet Rise turn one, so it can avoid Earthquake. This way it can be immune to Earthquake and Poison Jab, and since Dragon Claw will only deal 0.5X damage, that could give you time to chip it away before using Staraptor to Endeavor/Quick Attack it. Then again it can have it’s flaws.
Next time don’t use the Switch Battle mode. I think is fair if you can’t change the Pokémon every time you defeat the Pokémon of the other trainers. Put the battle on “Set” mode and show us your real skills.
Yeah I stopped using Switch mode years ago to make the games more challenging and it is so fun. Now you can't easy switch to an Intimidate user or a mon with a super effective move to get the advantage. It's even more fun if you restrict yourself to no items in battle.
I was really worried about the announcements for these remakes because in the previous tittles over the recent years, Pokémon games have become super easy with the default EXP. Share and basically hand holding throughout the story. I was incredibly nervous because I really thought they were gonna nerf Cynthia (the greatest champion of all time don’t @ me) but they did the complete opposite!! When I first saw her Garchomp had Swords Dance, I literally lost it I became even more petrified because I didn’t think it could get worse and boy was I wrong 😂
Cynthia reclaiming and establishing herself once again as the Strongest Trainer of all! I made an excel spreadsheet comparing a few of the Strongest trainers that I consider across all games, and she is statistically very well backed up as the strongest. Her highest level Pokémon is Lv88, which ties with Red' Pikachu in HGSS. HOWEVER the average level of all of her team is 85.5, higher than HGSS Red's 83.67 and Let's GO Red's team of 85. She also uses items on every member of her team, giving her an extra layer of difficulty added. I still need to work on the average stats of all her team, but it should without a doubt be very high
The rematch is far tougher for sure , I know from experience I feel this elite four was tougher than original diamond I owned but nonetheless eventually I won

I made the mistake of letting set up sword dance on me and it swept my team
I was lucky my choice scarf jolly sceptile was faster and that both stealth rocks and ampibom's attacks chipped her (played on set too)

I just noticed that the ending jingle after you beat her has the same motif as her battle theme.
Rewatching this, I realize that a good idea would be to keep Metagross in when Garchomp came in, and use Magnet Rise turn one, so it can avoid Earthquake.
This way it can be immune to Earthquake and Poison Jab, and since Dragon Claw will only deal 0.5X damage, that could give you time to chip it away before using Staraptor to Endeavor/Quick Attack it.
Then again it can have it’s flaws.

Next time don’t use the Switch Battle mode. I think is fair if you can’t change the Pokémon every time you defeat the Pokémon of the other trainers. Put the battle on “Set” mode and show us your real skills.
Yeah I stopped using Switch mode years ago to make the games more challenging and it is so fun. Now you can't easy switch to an Intimidate user or a mon with a super effective move to get the advantage. It's even more fun if you restrict yourself to no items in battle.

I was really worried about the announcements for these remakes because in the previous tittles over the recent years, Pokémon games have become super easy with the default EXP. Share and basically hand holding throughout the story. I was incredibly nervous because I really thought they were gonna nerf Cynthia (the greatest champion of all time don’t @ me) but they did the complete opposite!! When I first saw her Garchomp had Swords Dance, I literally lost it I became even more petrified because I didn’t think it could get worse and boy was I wrong 😂
I hope one day they improve their game AI

Cynthia reclaiming and establishing herself once again as the Strongest Trainer of all! I made an excel spreadsheet comparing a few of the Strongest trainers that I consider across all games, and she is statistically very well backed up as the strongest. Her highest level Pokémon is Lv88, which ties with Red' Pikachu in HGSS. HOWEVER the average level of all of her team is 85.5, higher than HGSS Red's 83.67 and Let's GO Red's team of 85. She also uses items on every member of her team, giving her an extra layer of difficulty added. I still need to work on the average stats of all her team, but it should without a doubt be very high

Having your settings on 'switch' instead of 'set' really makes it alot easier...
