I am a fitness influencer and this thing is a PERFECT secondary camera to my a7iii + 85mm for photos. When it comes to creating shorts/reels in the gym, easy vlogs for my RUclips, and the ability to track myself in gym videos is ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING. I had the Sony zv-1 and took around 3 takes to simply setup the right angle where I am in the middle everytime. Now I don’t have to worry at all about that and it takes all effort and worry out of it. It’s more discreet, lighter, and better quality (at least to me).

I got mine about a month or two ago for family trips and let me tell you I don’t regret getting one. Besides being a good camera is small and compact easy to use and record video. Now I can record my family vacations. Love the DJI pocket is awesome! I did buy the warranty just in case since it’s small it is prone to get damage. Also we went to a Harry Potter forest event obviously it was at night in the woods and switch my pocket to low light. The video came out amazing and the video was well lit for the little lighting there was.
Solid commentary Terry, thanks. The coolest Portrait Mode hack I've seen is to start in Landscape, press the gimbal lock button and then rotate your arm to turn the camera on it's side and then you have 4k in Portrait mode.
Finally a review I can understand and relate to! I ordered the Pocket 3 creator combo yesterday and watching your review was just what I was looking for! ~Subscribed!
I just picked up one of these to compliment my main cameras of a Canon 5Dmk4 and XA75 camcorder. A lot of places I go don't warrant taking the full set of heavy & expensive equipment, and I wanted something pocket sized to use in both more casual (and more dicey) environments. Great points and a terrific jam-packed video. THANK YOU! As they say, the best camera is the one you use, so I love my P3 because it is always ready to go with the fast charging, form factor, and great quality. I hope DJI hears you about the ultra-responsive (too fussy) screen. It just reacts a bit too fast. I enjoy color grading, so am very pleased with the DM log output. Have you tried a black mist filter? I love/hate the results, so need to keep experimenting with when to use it. Always appreciate your channel. Best to you, Bob

Just got mine delivered today. Looking at videos to see any tips that I've not yet come across. One thing if I hold the camera, mine makes that castanet sound. So I don't think you have done damage dropping it, not that you want to do that. Out of all the DJI products, this item is my first Care Refresh, hopefully that is just a precaution. Best Dave

Okay a different opinion here. I'm a filmmaker and I purchased this and played with it for a week - I sent it back. I didn't need a vlogging camera and wanted to use it more for narrative work, the crop on the vertical setting is a real pain because of a lot of work being for social media. I also have the new Iphone Pro Max and the camera on that is just as good, in fact - I graded the Iphone footage better than I could with the DJI footage.
I was using gopros as my 2nd camera when traveling, usually for vlogging, but the small sensor has always been a downside, this camera really solves this problem to have a proper small vlogging camera for traveling ❤
I plug in a usb-c to 3,5mm to my headphones to monitor the audio. Works good. A bit annoying with the adapter though. But comes in clutch when your out and about.
@@tumbleweedfarmyeah. There is a delay for shure. I used it for interviews. So it kind of worked out. But monitoring yourself is messed up with that delay
I haven’t seen much about it besides it looks like a go pro with a flip screen. I’ll look more into it but it appears to be more of an action camera if I’m not mistaken?
My Pocket 3 is brand new and it has that little shake sound yours makes after dropping it. I think it may be some kind of internal counterweight, so I think your Pocket is fine
You are great!! I think you said very right things, even though I haven't bought the Pocket 3 yet. I was impressed by how it works in the dark. A friend shot a video in Venice with a Sony Z90 camera and her daughter was shooting with the Pocket 2 which was less noisy and had a more vivid image. I don't know whether to buy just the camera for now, as I already have the tripod and the radio microphone. Thanks again, greetings from Venice, Italy.

I agree with most of the things you’ve mentioned. I do find myself being super careful and I’m not dropping it because it’s not that durable. Hopefully the next version can be the one. Dope video. 💪🏽
Most dslr cameras do not like being dropped either. It has to be treated like a dslr, not an action camera. I doubt whether a tough gimbal camera will ever be made.
Excellent review, I 100% agree with the overblown "the sensors not great!" comments because at the end of the day, for what it is, at the price, it's a killer camera for what it's meant to do!
Fwiw, my old 2012 sigma sport zoom has a rough clunk in the stabilizer when it starts and stops, but it still seems to work fine. Time will tell how well the gimbal and stabilizer hold up here. Thanks!
Do you think this is something that a real estate agent could use for property tours? Is the lens wide enough when touring homes to capture a good amount of the rooms etc?
Its great and sincere review! Another important point: LIVES! I bought it with the intention of having a quick live camera, but the mimo app is rubbish, the live options on RUclips only work if you have more than 50 followers, the live option for Facebook doesn't work and in the end you need to configure it manually for each live the RTMP key from RUclips or another server to be able to transmit. And for this you have to spend about 10 minutes to configure it manually, so the lives have to be planned, it's not like the on/go/live as advertised.

One thing you didn't mention aside from how cool and functional the camera is. Is how if you live in the US, the mimo app that is used to update firmware for this product is banned here for Spyware. This is the only reason I returned this product. Dji will have you do a walk around with this product through downloading it outside of Google store. However, the app will still not work! I believe this is very important for you to mention since you are talking this camera up.
I do quick two people interviews at events, so until they sell a pack with two mic2 or sell the mic2 individually its not much good to me, as I cant fully take advantage of the internal receiver. Plus - not sure if its possible, but a zoom attachment for say 40mm would really help a lot.
Went hiking out in the desert recently with this, smacked it against rocks by mistake, knocked it out of my pocket going down into a wash. This thing is honestly a tank, and maintains amazing footage. I'm not too worried about the build of it, because that was a good test!

Wonderful video, I thank you to share it. I need to askl a question please. I only take 4K videos. I'm going on a trip soon and I should take some shots of rituals inside homes. Not at night but during the day. I would like a small camera that works well in 4K (if it also works well in AUTO, it is even better). I think with Action 4 you get better video quality than Pocket 3 (maybe) but I think Pocket 3 is more versatile for filming in travel, even if I don't film myself. I never will use Action 4 in sport time or or diving. What would you buy between DJI Osmo Pocket 3 or DJI Action 4? I'm afraid Pocket 3 is too much delicate if I want to take it to Africa during my travels. I thank you.
Dropping a travel or blog camera happens ALL the time. Imagine the audio on your camera with the wabbling sound! I had the same issue with the magnetic clip of my DJI Action 3: Wablling and clicking sounds on the video.
So my guess if I guess it will have a shelf life of three years before they release a new one. Which DJI tends to lose support after they release new products a year later. I am curious which camera is better the one on this or one of the ones on Insta360 products? Granted you lose the Gimbal functionality with Insta360.
Great video!! Just wondering can you use the mobile app and monitor the audio with a earphone connected to your phone? I know it's a bit cumbersome to use a phone to monitor the audio but if it can be done at least it's something lol.

An important point at time of filming.... The Transmitter/Mic 2 is not available for sale separately, so keep that in mind when deciding which version to buy.....and go with the Creator version so you get it included. You won't regret it then...

@@roughmzin2510 you usually have to get to through the dji after-sales department. I just contact their live chat services on the website when I need a replacement part from a product. It was about $100 for a mic replacement for the dji mic kit. Got a replacement magnet and magnetic neck strap which aren’t sold separately too. Probably too much info already haha. I want to get the P3 soon too.
I think it is pretty amazing. I would love it if they make a version that zooms are maybe has like three focal ranges like our phones - wide, medium, tight and now it is my main cam for weddings

that rattling sound you made by shaking the cam was caused by the lens focus system sliding in and out when it's not powered. you can even see it with yiur eyes. that sound does not appear when the cam is powered on. no reason to worry about it.

I buy nearly all new action and small cameras when they come out going on 6 years now and before that every year was upgrading gopros. I nitpick and share flaws all over the internet. The pocket 3 is no joke the best camera of 2023. Its freaking amazing how well it exposes, tracks, has audio receiver built in... They actually fiture proofed it a bit so it lasts 2-3 years like the last model did.
I agree with your opinions of the Pocket 3 - Its a powerhouse of a little camera. You are absolutely right about access to exposure/shutter controls - It seems like it needs a clickable wheel that would allow quick access these basic controls. I know that DJI is keeping it simple but that simple addition would give users much better control. You are also right about the need for Slow-Mo mode to be in the video menu. At The end of the day the Pocket 3 is a great little camera and heads- and-tails better than previous Pocket cameras. I really appreciate your videos.
Yes, I don’t see anybody talking about it but is a problem indeed. I like the bokeh effect and the pocket 3 doesn’t offer that. Hope one day... It will be a game-changing
Have they updated the firmware so that you can film in 4k 9:16 yet? Because that's the only deal breaker for us rn. As we mainly share our content on Instagram.
Can i ask. Do the ND filters for the mini 3 pro drone, fit this Device? Only the gimbal and camera look the same size and so given i have the ND filters for my drone, i could possibly save some € Gracias!
Im really interested in buying the LUT pack for the Pocket 3. I know how to import and choose the LUT in Premiere Pro, but I still dont really understand the basic function of a LUT. For example I have Pocket 2, DJI Mini 3 Pro, Insta360 X3 and DJI Action 2. If I buy the LUT for the Pocket 3, are they then designed to just work for that exact sensor/color mode/f-stop etc etc, or could I use the same LUT and with the same great effect on footage shot with all my other cameras if I shoot on corresponding D-log type of mode?
I'm guessing it still does a good job as main camera even if it's for stand still content creation like filming an interview/podcast or just a youtube video talking to the camera? I'm not looking to get super deep in to video/photography and need something fun/easy to handle all forms of content
This thing is f'ing crazy. Gimbal, 10 bit, D Log. All the things you mentioned........Sheeshhhhhhh. But Every time I hold it, I literally feel like I gotta not bump into a butterfly or the thing is going to tilt the wrong way and die. And if it did. I would buy it again. That low light performance is some of the best i've seen and has even been on par with my lumix S5 especially after I created an PPro preset to 99% match vlog. =O
Excellent video. I too am a bit concerned about the fragility of it, in general. My Pocket 2 had some issues when I dropped it a couple of times. That said pocket 3 is probably the best on the market for vlogging at the moment. I do hope they don't realise the Pocket 4 in 5 months time as they did with the Action series 😂
I am torn between the pocket 3 and the Sony ZV10 Mark ii. I plan to mainly do timelapse videos of mt embroidery machine, as well as tutorials and embroidery product reviews. I am leaning towards the pocket 3 tho. what are your thoughts?

10:45 - it does have a headphone jack, and you can monitor audio. You need a USB C to 3.5mm adapter. The USB is the headphone jack.

I could hear a bit of delay when I set it up this way. Works great for checking a level, but messes with you if you're the one speaking.

My OP3 has the same rattle and mine has been babied, turns out it is the tilt access that is pivoting when I shake mine. Might be the same on yours.
Dude what do you think about the new insta 360 ace pro? 🤔 I'd love to see you check it vs the Pocket 3 for general use and in low light.

USB-C headphones for audio monitoring, as a pro, I use this for b-roll mainly. I have used it for TV pieces and more. It has more uses than vlogging.

The rattle when it’s off is the lens inside missing power for focus control. Turn it on and the coils grab the lenses and the rattle goes away.

Surprising to hear. I saw another comment where someone said simply repeatedly putting it into its case is causing failures in the field.

Wonderful video, I thank you to share it. I need to askl a question please. I only take 4K videos. I'm going on a trip soon and I should take some shots of rituals inside homes. Not at night but during the day. I would like a small camera that works well in 4K (if it also works well in AUTO, it is even better). I think with Action 4 you get better video quality than Pocket 3 (maybe) but I think Pocket 3 is more versatile for filming in travel, even if I don't film myself. I never will use Action 4 in sport time or or diving. What would you buy between DJI Osmo Pocket 3 or DJI Action 4? I'm afraid Pocket 3 is too much delicate if I want to take it to Africa during my travels. I thank you.
Dropping a travel or blog camera happens ALL the time. Imagine the audio on your camera with the wabbling sound! I had the same issue with the magnetic clip of my DJI Action 3: Wablling and clicking sounds on the video.
So my guess if I guess it will have a shelf life of three years before they release a new one. Which DJI tends to lose support after they release new products a year later. I am curious which camera is better the one on this or one of the ones on Insta360 products? Granted you lose the Gimbal functionality with Insta360.

Great video!! Just wondering can you use the mobile app and monitor the audio with a earphone connected to your phone? I know it's a bit cumbersome to use a phone to monitor the audio but if it can be done at least it's something lol.
I found out you can monitor, you just plug a pair of headphones into the USB-c to 3.5mm

An important point at time of filming.... The Transmitter/Mic 2 is not available for sale separately, so keep that in mind when deciding which version to buy.....and go with the Creator version so you get it included. You won't regret it then...

If you contact dji you can usually buy spare parts of their items separately. I’ve done with with the. Dji mic kit.

@@roughmzin2510 you usually have to get to through the dji after-sales department. I just contact their live chat services on the website when I need a replacement part from a product. It was about $100 for a mic replacement for the dji mic kit. Got a replacement magnet and magnetic neck strap which aren’t sold separately too. Probably too much info already haha.

I think it is pretty amazing. I would love it if they make a version that zooms are maybe has like three focal ranges like our phones - wide, medium, tight and now it is my main cam for weddings

that rattling sound you made by shaking the cam was caused by the lens focus system sliding in and out when it's not powered. you can even see it with yiur eyes. that sound does not appear when the cam is powered on. no reason to worry about it.

I buy nearly all new action and small cameras when they come out going on 6 years now and before that every year was upgrading gopros. I nitpick and share flaws all over the internet. The pocket 3 is no joke the best camera of 2023. Its freaking amazing how well it exposes, tracks, has audio receiver built in... They actually fiture proofed it a bit so it lasts 2-3 years like the last model did.
I agree with your opinions of the Pocket 3 - Its a powerhouse of a little camera. You are absolutely right about access to exposure/shutter controls - It seems like it needs a clickable wheel that would allow quick access these basic controls. I know that DJI is keeping it simple but that simple addition would give users much better control. You are also right about the need for Slow-Mo mode to be in the video menu. At The end of the day the Pocket 3 is a great little camera and heads- and-tails better than previous Pocket cameras. I really appreciate your videos.

the biggest problem with dji pocket 3 is you can't unblur the background. sometimes it is necessary to keep object and background clear.

Yes, I don’t see anybody talking about it but is a problem indeed. I like the bokeh effect and the pocket 3 doesn’t offer that. Hope one day... It will be a game-changing

Im really interested in buying the LUT pack for the Pocket 3. I know how to import and choose the LUT in Premiere Pro, but I still dont really understand the basic function of a LUT. For example I have Pocket 2, DJI Mini 3 Pro, Insta360 X3 and DJI Action 2. If I buy the LUT for the Pocket 3, are they then designed to just work for that exact sensor/color mode/f-stop etc etc, or could I use the same LUT and with the same great effect on footage shot with all my other cameras if I shoot on corresponding D-log type of mode?

I'm guessing it still does a good job as main camera even if it's for stand still content creation like filming an interview/podcast or just a youtube video talking to the camera? I'm not looking to get super deep in to video/photography and need something fun/easy to handle all forms of content
This thing is f'ing crazy. Gimbal, 10 bit, D Log. All the things you mentioned........Sheeshhhhhhh. But Every time I hold it, I literally feel like I gotta not bump into a butterfly or the thing is going to tilt the wrong way and die.
And if it did. I would buy it again. That low light performance is some of the best i've seen and has even been on par with my lumix S5 especially after I created an PPro preset to 99% match vlog. =O
Excellent video. I too am a bit concerned about the fragility of it, in general. My Pocket 2 had some issues when I dropped it a couple of times. That said pocket 3 is probably the best on the market for vlogging at the moment. I do hope they don't realise the Pocket 4 in 5 months time as they did with the Action series 😂

You can monitor the audio. Just plug a headset into a 3.5/usb-C adapter and plug it in the charging port. :)
