Chears mate. That's how I got into youtube really. Was filming the end results and putting it on Facebook. Then I thought this is fun and started RUclips lol. Let's just hope the customers still have some money to spend on there houses in the next few years. Hay lol way it going👍👍👍
It’s a long time since there was a concrete pool where Tim liked to jump with both feet 😁😂 It’s a very nice job guys, the stones are superb, the whole extension is superb! you can be proud of yourself ! 👍👍
The stonework is a credit to you 👍🏼👍🏼 All our ridge tiles have overlaps rather than butt joins. I’ve never really worked out how to get them to stick well to the bedding mortar. Also we have an acrylic premixed coloured mortar product that’s used to surface the bedding mortar. You can get it in many colours. It sticks like shit to a blanket and easy to use. Far more consistent and durable than mortar mixed on site to finish off the surfaces. A bit tricky to use on hot days but it’s doable. All roof tilers here use that now.
Cheers aussie. Sound good the acrylic stuff minght be over hear soon. Most of out Ridge tiles now are held together with plastic clips and screws. But don't look as good as cement. That's probably why you don't find many lapted tiles now just the old buildings 👍👍👍
Thanks pat. That stone was a great choice by the customer. Matches the house really well. Good to see that it's nice and straight too. Bit worrying you carnt tell till the scaffolding is down can you lol👍👍👍
@ Thank you. They also called it Mortar. What is that? Seems like a mixture of sand+cement+lime. Is it true? Is it a pre mixed powder?? Can we get it from Bunnings?
@@markhep But what is the lime thing? Is it calcium hydroxide? White wash lime?? How much do I need to put it into 4:1 ratio of sand and cement? Which type of sand should I use ? Sorry for many questions 😅
Hi Paul. Not this type of tile. You just have a joint these ones . It's usley the triangle ones that lap on to each other 👍👍👍cheers Yere I am well over the moon how its come out 👍👍👍
Everyone seems to use the dry ridge system saving time on bedding on the ridge tiles. Do you not like that or is there a reason you done it the old school way
@@neiljefferies501 hi Neil. Yere all new build are dry Ridge now. Yere I like dry Ridge. We did the carport in dry Ridge so it would not crack when the oak dry out. We did the extension with sand and cement to match the original building 👍👍👍
Is it not a requirement for ridge tiles to be held down mechanically (screws) and either be dry fitted (with appropriate tape etc) or mortared? Or does that only apply to new properties?
It's just new builds.i think .I always ask the customer what they want .and on extensions they ask me to do it the same as rest of house .if it was a house near a pavement.i would definitely screw them down with plastic dry fit .but I mention this to my customers and they .never want it .unless I am re doing the hole House to match 👍👍
@@nigelsmith1198 probably should start doing it my self then .I always look at spec on plans and never says .but yere I should probably do it anyway.👍👍👍
Came out proper tidy like, Mark. That extn is the size of two houses in some parts of the country. Not related to your (excellent) work but the window sizes and layout all look to cock. Despite the size of the building I personally don't think it looks attractive.
Cheers mate. I really like the big ones on front. The side ones ended up like that just with the different lay out of the rooms. Yere I was saying to Tim it's like building a pair of semi detached houses lol👍👍👍👍
You don't use a spirit level to install ridge tiles, especially if the roof is not level. I use my little fingers to gauge the mortar and go with the level of the roof. Its not cement , its mortar. If you are going to make a tutorial video then teach correctly.
@@thomasrall7422 seriously lol I just put a load of muck in on the joints .only were you taking old ridge and got tiles already up there you pack .you know the score if you a roofer lol

Great job 👍, you wouldn't have thought it started out a swimming pool!!😉😂
Thanks Ian 😂😂. I know was a bit worrying that was just as we started lol 😂

Hiya Mark , looks a treat mate.
I normally use a pair of ridge runners with batten between, holds the mortar in a treat.

Thanks Tim. how's it going you managed to get back into work a bit. I seen a few do it that way on youtube with batts. Minght try it one day👍👍👍

Smart that mark, in a job this week with that kind of stone work
I like it, better than the usual half bond
Thanks Stephen. Yere it's much better looking than half bond I like the look of random. Takes 4 times as long tho build though lol 👍👍👍

Which cement/grade cement do you use for this job?? Thanks.
4 grit sand one cement better than building sand 👍
