I like that this actually feels like a home, and not just something taken straight from a interior design magazine.
Agreed!!

Exactly.
You should look at interior design magazines because this is exactly what's inside the pages. Mix of old and new. Eclectic. Interior design 101.

true .. but it's their place with their history which makes it personal and warm rather than a manufactured style inserted .. at least i m o
Not a celebrity house. A real home. Love them both. Amazing actors.
well, they are celebrities.
@@TunaStrata indeed this is brooklyn the houses here are expensive and only celebrities houses in brooklyn look like this. Normal people live with roommates in brooklyn.
Expect it costs like $5mill
Fantastic actors...I will agree! I had no idea they were together!!
i didnt either, love Peter!! Hes such an underrated actor
I'm sure this house is extremely expensive due to its location, but it just feels so normal and not excessive, warm and lovely.
Maggie is amazing and very down to Earth I'm not at all surprised her home is so lovely, cozy and "normal", not like one of those celebrity houses that look like a hotel. They have a rescue cat as well
You have to get to know them as a person I think we all have or can be pretentious without realizing . What a beautiful home.
Her equally successful brother Jake is very lucky.
@@tyrese3745 ofcourse he is, but this is about her now.
@@myselfme767 Just saying, that’s all.
They’re somehow down to earth yet pretentious at the same time.
Haha spot on. I don't know why I have an immediate distaste for people that use the word "bespoke" regularly.
thank you! it was irritating.
Lol if this doesn’t describe all people who live in Brooklyn then I don’t know what does 😂
And was it just me or did she tend to talk over him a lot? He would start a sentence and she would talk over him and finish it. Oh well. Maybe that's their thing. Obviously he's used to it, they've been together awhile
Rich DIY
How refreshing. Not my style but this is their home and they can talk about why they love it normally celebs just talk about how wonderful of a job the designers did.
Cole Rowbotham Exactly! They actually seem to have a taste of their own!
snj prl nice way of saying that they have no taste.
I found them and their home pretentious.
bailando74 well they are actors... 😅
snj prl haha! Their design sense may be better than their acting.
That cat drop was the best piece of comedy I've seen in this series.
I was cracking tf up lmao
Was worried for the cat. It seemed mean but I’m not a cat person so maybe I’m wrong?
@@karendensmore8040 the cat is okay! Mine can jump off a 6 foot fence with no worries 😊

What I love about this is you can see they've communicated and collaborated on it, and they haven't rushed it. Its really cool to see them create together

Yeah, it is actually part of their maintenance, drop them once a month to keep their pawn in shape
You do know that cats don't take fall damage, don't you?
Gyllenhaal and Sarsgaard. What a Scandivanian marriage. For a second thought it was Skarsgard.
Me too ! Bc of Alex Skarsgard

I always say Skarsgard, its so similar.
Isn't it nice that they threw five families out of that home so they can buy it up and renovate it and make it all their own !
@@aldofhister6859 yeah sure. I'm sure they did that. Got proof?
Every celebrity on AD: This ... made by good friend....
His voice is creepily soothing, and I absolutely adore her.
Yes, a la The Killing.
Plenty of "we" and "us" instead of "I" and "me". That is a great sign!

This is such a tasteful home. Especially in love w the first bathroom!
That teak bathtub...wonderful.
a tub made in teak, original and exquisite!
I'm throwing up. Like they say money doesn't buy taste lol
@dave wtf dude
It’s like they are a Portlandia parody of how actors act in real life.

Omg dying that’s so funny. Now I can’t watch it without thinking that
These two really strike me as the folks that will be together forever. So nice to see successful entertainers who show you who they are really are.
❤ A warm and lovely home but, even more lovely is that as their home was being toured, I also sensed the warmth and love between the couple. Their home feels lived and loved in, practical and beautiful, again, just like their union. Thank you, AD, for this piece and to the wonderful couple for a sneak peek into what makes a house a home. ❤
How the hell is no one mentioning that they were 2/3rds through Shrek 2
They have kids.
They have kids and yet there's no sign of childhood anywhere. My kids have their stuff all over my house!
@TheKitkat825 True, but I clean before people come over too, and there is still evidence of children in the home. It's just interesting.
I was not allowed to have my toys and junk laying around outside of my room... Not every family lets there house get taken over by children. @@MamaGypsysCaravan
MAMA GYPSY'S CARAVAN mine don’t have stuff all over. They’ve some art stuff in a cabinet in the living room and that’s it.
This AD series is better than MTV Cribs.
I like sweet digs!
mtv cribs just lots of arcade games in the basement 🤣
I completely agree with you. MTV cribs was more about flexing what you have whereas AD appreciates the work that goes into designing a home, it’s very relaxing to watch

Cribs just grew up and got classy.
Beautiful home. Strange that the thing i loved the most was the fact that they rescued that beautiful cat. 🥰

They are such a perfect couple, even with their tastes with their home. What a match. And the fact they both work in Hollywood. How brave, how smart. I wish them nothing but happiness and joy.
This is the funniest episode of Portlandia I've ever seen!

Brooklyn is widely known as "East Portland" :-P

Love that show. Keep it weird!
*drops cat* "why do it any other way?"
Ok, for some reason that made me laugh out loud.
Haha I
Same here... it was like "look we rescued this cat, it's the only way to get a pet"-::literally throws cat on the floor like trash:: 🤣
Hilarious
Did he just praise himself for rescuing a cat only to drop it on the floor so cruelly? Wow, that says a lot about him.
Linda Brodney cats are ridiculously agile and I’ve seen them balance and jump distances most people couldn’t even imagine. He landed on all fours 100%
Linda Brodney trust me i have a cat and even if you’re holding them like he was or holding them super high they’ll wiggle out of your hands/arms and land on all fours without caring how high they are. the cat was fine 😂😭
Shes fine.. cats isn't fragile.. plus he's introduced her in a video..
They're such a good pair.. really like it... the house has a lot of character and looks classy and warm and cozy all at the same time . It's nice too that they adopted a cat in need, just love that!
I was not expecting them to be so down to earth. I appreciated that even more than the touring and also the info for their house..
The close up on the cat’s face after he dropped it 💀
Yeah, I didn't like how carelessly, borderline roughly, he dropped that pretty cat!
@@LoveLady-wn3eg Trust me, they can handle it 🤣 It wasn't abusive. Very pretty cat though.
@@becca2938 It's no a point of abusive, it's dismissive. He never held it close; held it at a distance and quite awkwardly as if he didn't have a clue or a care about handling a cat. And if a cat means anything to you, you don't just DROP it on the floor like a piece of garbage. It's all in the body language. Methinks it was rescued just so they could say "Oh, look, we have a rescue!"
@@jaylineff yeah, that's the vibe I got. It was dismissive and awkward. I'd never drop one of my cats like that. It's not how you treat a living animal that trusts and depends on you.
They just loved telling everyone they rescued a cat. It's a prop.
@@jaylineff i think it was digging it’s claws in his hand a little bit which might have been why
So, it takes the combined income of two successful actors to buy a decently comfortable house in Brooklyn...
@L Lieber yeah, I was born in Queens and my old neighborhood, Forest Hills, is getting nuts too. Not like Brooklyn, but still real expensive.
@L Lieber 2 million would be a steal.. actually would be something very wrong with it. The range is $3 million and up now
@L Lieber absolutely!
Charles Peter Parker, is that you?
Brooklyn has become incredibly expensive. Two bedroom apartment in my neighborhood go for 4,750- 5,000 per month.
It's not my style decor but I love how they do it, piece by piece. And it's all beautiful. My people are Scandi, too so I am all about the simple teak and fireplaces everywhere, meaningful art and used candles.
WARM and COZY...a reflection of two brilliant actors. LOVE THEM...

Such a lovely home, I love that they have tried to restore whatever they could and add their own layer to it.
Can't help thinking there is harmony in that family; nice warm voices and demeanors. I like the fact they are not obsessed to have all things color-coordinated... all posh or white/light colored. The house interior seems very warm and cozy.

howbout BROOKLYN SYNDROME(movie)
I love how their house doesn't look like they are flexing with their money
Maybe you just aren't cultured because this was a huge flex

This is flexing in Brooklyn lmao!!
We built and we Built... and we built and refurbished and recycled...yeah right . I can not stand 5 living and 7 bathroom mansions with iced out watches but this is the opposite extrme. All artisan stuff you found on the skip which actually costs a fortune.
i agree with the OP, this isnt flexing your money in the sense of flashy, gaudiness some people with money can be.
"So many cats need to be adopted" ...SMASH 😂🤣
You know that cats literally jump up to 2 meters right...because they are anatomically built to do that... everyone in the comments loosing it lol xD
@@annetta5738 loool I do that to my cat all the time. People who don't have pets look at me like "am I next?!" looool
So true!!! There are all kinds of shelters and rescue efforts for dogs but not cats. I have rescued so many over the years and just rescued two little brothers that were found on the side of the road that someone had dumped out. I live in south and couldnt resist naming them Rambo and Gunner ...LOL ..Gunner is a hunter and loves to play Rambo is the lover and just wants to be loved. I wouldnt take a million dollars for my other cat Sumo that I have had for 10 years. He has saved my life. I use to have these frequent seizures and he would alert me about 10 or 15 min before the happened and I would take my meds prevented the episode to be worse. He knew just by the change in my heart rate and would climb up in my lap and start pressing on my chest as if to get my heart to beat correctly. He is also a rescue cat. Bless you for taking an interest in cats!
@@boondocks8002 That"s a beautiful story. Cats and dogs are such lovely blessings.

Love how they would finish each other's sentences; true love. Chill, they work well together, both amazing actors. Lovely, lovely home.
That ginger cat was saying....."help me".
Big time. But one never knows who people really are--just because they have all the trappings.
he was blinking 'help me'
I love the fact they consider how comfortable their house would be to host guests, and how many people they could have sleeping over. Growing up with a big Asian family my mum always considered that in mind, we would constantly have our cousin's staying over for the holidays and making sure there was enough space for people to sleep was super important.
Ohh put a fkng lid on it will ya?
They really come across as humble and kind people. Their home compliments that.
That Péle and Ali photo is absolute gold ✨🙌🏾
You can tell this house is based off of their personality and I love seeing that in a home.
Is it my style? Unfortunately not but hey to each their own! They have to live in it not me haha.
Why unfortunately?
I don't like it either. :)
Its far better than everything being plain white and looking like a hospital
Of all the celebrity homes featured by AD, this is my personal favorite, because it shows characters and feels like those people actually live and entertain in this house. Many LA homes are like for catered parties only - all the designs would be just for show. But this house, you can tell that the owners actually enjoy the rooms and every little things are hand picked.
The fireplaces, the teak, the teak bath! WoW! This is one of the most beautiful homes I've seen, FULL of character.
I love their home. I wouldn't change a thing. I love Maggie Gyllenhaal and now seeing where home makes me love her even more. So warm and cozy.
Is Maggie Gyllenhaal turning into Annette Bening?😨
Yes she is, assuming Annette Bening was in a terrible accident causing her face to get smashed so she now resembles a pug.
I was thinking the same thing.
Is there something wrong with looking like Annette Bening? I remember her as being very beautiful 😁
Very perceptive, and now that you mention it .....
Yes please
I love how they finish each other's sentences. Rich, artsy, eccentric but with a hint of normal... interesting couple.

Love their house!! It has so much love and character. It seems like they have a great relationship.
I adore this house, so many books and so welcoming and down to earth
This house is now listed for sale for about 4 million. Do people only agree to do this to sell their house?
Oh wow!
Lori McElveny yes
They got a divorce I believe

They are probably moving back to California. Those winters are getting to them.
I love this couple. Great actors in their own right but they are so in tune with each other - they finish each others sentences. Thats a good sign. I believe they are soulmates - it shows in their eclectic home
Somehow this made me relook at these two with more respect. Nearly every other celebrity on this AD series has homes that feel so far removed from my simple life that they just feel ALIEN.
But these guys, man, their home just felt pretty normal, and the deeper into it the more cozy and sublime the place became. That dark den is way better than our dark den! I adore their "rich"(as someone else called it) DIY.
I love the fireplaces and the wooden basement room! Looks so cozy
Love it. A house well lived.
That cat drop was 🤣🤣😂😂🤣🤣 I can’t stop laughing. Yes I have a cat and I still found it funny.
I swear he actually held Dina up by the neck and then threw her to the ground. 👀 🙈

Clayton Brown calm down. The animal wasn’t hurt. Geez I have 2 dogs and a cat. If it was malicious I wouldn’t have found it funny.
Vegan Roxy
Oh I didn’t realize you were so qualified. Listen, there was nothing funny about it, of course the cat is OK but he still threw the cat and the cat looks scared in every scene he was in. But really the point is, this wasn’t funny, the scene with the cat getting thrown.
Clayton Brown coming from the “expert” . Please! Like I said funny.
That wooden tub was everything!!!
How the natural daily light is combined with residential occasion is amazing.
I got to love Peter's voice. It sounds so sweet and cozy.
This has to be by far one of my favourite AD famous person houses! So warm and genuine. Other celebs can learn a thing or two from Maggie and Peter.
Nothing seems warm about this house.
Love the video, and I love them old houses with all that character, it's just so beautiful! love it.💯👏🏻♥️
I love the mix of rustic and city styles combined.
I love the way this house is put together -- to live in not to show off. Some beautiful furniture, details and art, but with a seating plan designed for comfort and shelves and tables that hold practical things as well as some collectibles. Warm and inviting.
But please, Sargaard, stop dropping that cat like that.
Yeah wth as soon as I read your comment I saw him drop the cat.... so odd
It’s quite normal to „drop“ a cat like that. You don’t hurt them at all that way. With other pets such as dogs it’s different, you have to be more gentle. If you have cats you will know what I mean ;)
They don't fall any different when they push away from you. Plyable bodies. With force, no no no!
Lmao my cat hates being carried she’s a tubby calico lol so when she starts struggling she kinds plops down out of my arms
@@unfabulouslyfabulousI'm not a vet and all of you may be right. Clearly, Sarsgaard loves that kitty.
My perspective comes from years of living with cats (including senior cats). I know they can jump from and even fall from heights without getting hurt. But I figure anybody, even a cat, needs a little warning to properly get their feet under them and suddenly being dropped seems careless. I may be overly sensitive having been dropped unexpectedly by dance partners. Even when it's not far and to my feet, it can be painful.
“I like the idea of being on a boat and everything having it’s own little place.”
