As a French 🇫🇷, I’ve always lived in a very old-fashioned environment, in houses older than the USA. Ancient stuff everywhere, broken and imperfect things, silverware… Seeing Kirsten’s home reflects my childhood and my very natural environment, I utterly love it 🥰
moiberyloup wrote "As a French 🇫🇷, I’ve always lived in a very old-fashioned environment, in houses older than the USA." You just put into words the reason I LOVED living in France and was "home" for the first time in YEARS. And as you pointed out: living in "houses older than the USA." That says it all. I spent the happiest years of my life in France and can't wait to return... lucky you to live there your whole life, and in a culture that appreciates and accepts the "petit defaults." Love everything about your wondrous culture and country that sees and appreciates beauty in all things!
@@catherinetodd Non wonder why many foreigners settle here, or have a second residency 😊 The French may not be the easiest people in the world, everyone has flaws ; nevertheless, I must admit our « patrimoine » (monuments, buildings, castles, vineyards, churches) is worth admiring. Thank you for your words, dear lady.
I can't wait to travel to France (and Europe in general) for the first time for this reason. Though I must say, my Italian is much better than my French, so I should probably work on that before leaving the US. Here in Wisconsin, our "old, old buildings" are typically from the early/mid-1800s. But overall, most people here want a new building because our older buildings (those that aren't museums or on the historical registry) aren't taken care of very well. Especially here in Madison, where the trend is to knock down the super cool Victorian and Edwardian houses that were split into quirky apartments and then build a poorly constructed, exorbitantly expensive high rise building in its place. That's something I love about Europeans; from my perspective, it seems like you guys try to do things right the first time and take care of it, rather than constantly tearing down and rebuilding as the poorly built structures disintegrate.
That is what is frustrating....in USA, we tear everything down and rebuild. We don't keep history. We don't have many landmarks that were man-made more than few hundred years old. We have beautiful mother nature sites, Grand canyon, rivers, falls but rarely do we keep the first church or school building of a town. In my city, I am very thankful for Heritage Park....quite a few homes, doctor's office, post office, soda shop, school, and few other items (i.e. a railway cart) that come from the beginning of our county's time. Beautiful park to walk through, allowed in houses/buildings on guided tour....I never get tired of going.
@@discogoth Italy is the home of everything OLD OLD. I go almost every year and in my country OLD is medieval, in Italy it’s millenniums old. When I went to the US I toured the north east coast and every historic thing was kept up too well. It looked Disney fake to me.

@J Ds jeez I obviously know that there are billions of different houses in LA, I was talking from a non-American viewer perspective. I was just pointing out that media such as AD tend to cover minimal chic design way more than this type of cozy rural style. I'm sure Los Angeles residents are not offended by my opinion anyway

I just love the personality, that she didn't go neutral on anything, and the history behind the pieces. Truly a gem of a home. Kirsten has always been a favorite actress of mine.
This home has soul. Whether the aesthetic is one you like or not, there is no denying it’s unique with presence. I wish she had the lady in oil droplets lamp. Cool collection!💛
If I was ever going to hire a designer, it would be this lady. I love how much she understands her client(s) and chooses things that are perfect for the home. I agree with Ms Dunst’s comment about not liking open concept, feature walls, or white kitchens, and I absolutely adore her kitchen and dining room. Each room has its own beauty, and I love that everything has a story.
I would watch a series following Kirsten and Jane discovering pieces they both love and then learning the histroy behind them. Any producers reading, happy for you to steal my idea 👀 Make it happen thanks.
Actually, the look is a bit Scandinavian cottage and log houses plus whimsical bohemian touch! And her mindsetting, as well, really reflects some of my Scandinavian friends. When I see the video and explanations, some people from the north would keep only things that attached the most for them. The upholstered chair shows it, the kitchen layout which I think very very Finnish and the shabby chic furnishings with mute colors with some prominence vintage furnitures really tells a lot of these style. She and the designer really appreciate art and how things were constructed by old-timer artisans - it's great mindset and something not so many people interest about around this hyper-modern home era.
I've watched a lot of AD videos and this is hands down my favourite in terms of the structure with the designer explaining key features, and the style and design of the house iteself. Even when other celebrities say they really wanted to pay homage to the time of the house etc, it hasn't felt as genuine as this. It's a truly unique interior design and so beautiful
I'm not sure I'd want to live in it, it kind of feels like an antiques showroom but I admire the distinctive taste and how interesting all these things are. One of the more memorable celeb homes.
Enjoyed the designer with homeowner format, wonderful to experience their relationship. Learning about the history of pieces chosen is so satisfying, especially Kirsten sharing her personal journey with her objects and design. Let's see more of this please! Well done teamAD
Off topic: but am I the only one shocked by Spider Man being the “first time she made (significant) money” 🤯 8 years after “Interview with..” and after a few years of being one of the TOP stars of “Teen films” 🤔 Crazy to think of how many iconic projects she may have been poorly paid for.
It's shocking but within the a marvel movie can mean never having to work again (unless you want to). Endorsements alone bring in millions, in addition to press, re-runs, swag, sequels, interviews events she would be paid to attend. She's fabulous and her success is 100 % deserved.
No, because any salary she got prior to this would have been more than you or I get in an entire year. It's reported that she earned $8M for Spiderman.
I loved this. The designer and client talking about the process of getting the house decorated is such a great concept. I loved the warmth of the house and all the antique furniture. Love her
This house tour surprised me in so many ways. So many Easter eggs throughout the house, the mice in the wallpaper next to the fox, the bandana in the kitchen tile, the screaming pitcher when you open up the china cabinet, and the list goes on. What lovely details!
I love Kirsten Dunst’s style. I don’t necessarily like everything in her house, but I like her individuality. Her NYC apartment from over a decade ago was fab!
I absolutely love this house! It's not about trends or ostentatious displays of wealth. It's filled with things that the owners love and have meaning for them. Just beautiful.
This is by far the most amazing home here. I've never been so jealous of a home and the furniture. Love your Home Kirsten!
this is as eclectic as it gets :). Not really my cup of tea, but you can tell Dunst has made a mark with her personality in the interior design, I respect that rather than other celebrities who get their house decorated without their personality in it at all .
I absolutely adore her home and style. So refreshing that she will cherish her curated home for a lifetime, as opposed to throwing out the place with the next trend. Perfection. I still have that AD (11/21) on my coffee table.

God bless her bravery for actually having her own taste! I'm also a fan of old things, actual ROOMS and living as you choose, rather than the way you're told is "updated".

I love the way this video was filmed/edited. Kristen and Jane just talking intimately. The house is stunning. The descriptions of the things/items and the introduction of the artists/designers was really interesting. Thank you x
I love their friendship. They’re both so passionate about this topic that they each have so much to say. It’s such a beautiful and special home. The best I’ve seen featured.
I loved watching this because Kirsten always seems like an enigma to me. I don’t know much about what she thinks because she’s fairly private and I can appreciate that. I will say she’s close to what I imagined her being. Pensive and a bit solemn but also kind and to the point. Ennis’s room is breathtaking. A literal tear brought to my eye.
I LOVE how they personify the furniture pieces. It's a beautiful thing to honor and cherish antiques. They really do carry the energy of their history in them in a similar way to people. Ugh, these ladies are old timey goddesses. Love it!
This is really one of the most beautiful houses I've seen on AD. It has character. It respects the history of the collected pieces. Not all shiny and trendy. Loved it!!!
Really enjoy this format vs the usual celebrity-house walk through. It’s great to hear the designer talk through the collaborative process as well as the provenance of key pieces. Well done, AD, and well done, Jane and Kirsten, on creating a warm, deeply personal house filled with gorgeous, unique pieces!
I loved Kirsten's opening line "I hate open concept!" This video was so refreshing and I really enjoying seeing a home different. The style and pieces were so beautiful but it really looked like a lived in home.
This is, by far, the loveliest Hollywood home I've ever seen. I've always adored Kirsten as an actress, and now I see that may be due in part to our appreciation of the less-than-perfect. The authentic.
It does look very „European“ in a way. Here in Central Europe we have many old houses and old farmer houses that look similar and have a lot of different old furniture and colors in them. When I imagine a typical American kitchen for example I‘m thinking about the description that Kirsten gave Jane Hallworth with the mainly „white open modern kitchen“.
This is so neat! I love that she invited her designer to do this with her! Everything in her home has a story. So different from the typical celeb home tour!
I love how personal this house is and how deep we get to delve into their collaboration- especially the tenure- over 20+ years! I will also take personal taste over generically "good" taste any day- so much more interesting.
wow this house is so beautiful, it's refreshing and actually has character, not like most celebrities who live in those huge hight-tech whatever houses, honestly living there would be my dream
This is the best architectural digest I've watched so far. Absolutely love the house and the chemistry between the two of them. They managed to create something spectacular!
Perhaps my favorite AD feature to date! Kirstens home is everything I can only hope to emulate when I have my own home one day. The rustic antiquated heart of each room equipoised by that faint brush of glamour by it’s details and very clearly - - heedfully chosen furnishings; makes this such a cool collaboration. I love the attitude towards it’s intention. It’s curated such incredible character that isn’t to miss for some of the more poorly essenced homes I’ve seen on here. It seems like there’s not one room that hasn’t been filled with warmth, and memories. Such a beautiful home!
To me this reflects our current state ....Looking for perfection in our homes reflects us...as well as accepting things as they are....with all its scars and battles....we are a work in progress constantly.....
I love this house even though it’s a bit too dark for my taste. I love antiques and I love that every piece in her house either mean something or reminds her of something. Most celebrities or rich people would just buy things to show there wealth, she actually built a home that has a soul and a story to tell. BRAVO!
Beautiful, absolutely beautiful. Personal, chosen, cherished, imperfect, whimsical and warm. And the relationship between Kirsten and Jane is just fantastic!
This is probably my favourite AD video yet! Please include the designers in future videos. It was so great to hear how the celebrity and designer built this relationship over many years and invested in building a home with unique pieces together!
I don't know what I expected Kirsten Dunst's house to look like but this wasn't it. Yet, watching the video it makes so much sense cause she seems so calm and grounded and that's the vibe I get from this house. It's not flashy but rich with antiquity.

I am SO happy there are celebrities like Kirstin. I am not a trend person myself. I am more of a classic, historical, elegant, traditional kind of a person. It's really reassuring to see successful people that excelled in their line of work/art and remained loyal to their personal styles.
An antiquer’s dream… she has taste though so it doesn’t look like a hoarder haven
I second the motion with Ms. Dunn: i don't care for the open concept and "Give me a room where I can shut the door", and good for her for buying at a young age art that she can enjoy for a lifetime. I remember a Barbara Walters interview with Bette Midler when Ms. Midler had become really famous. Bette Midler was asked what she purchased now that she had money and her reply was that she really wasn't buying much. "...books...records", worthwhile things to enjoy all your life.
open concepts only work for people that NEVER cook, i absolutely hate it as well!
@@leleprtk, you can always open the window when cooking 😉 don't generalise just because it doesn't work for you
@@leleprtk or it might be because rich people doesn't want to see their personal chef cook, most of the rich's house if they have an open concept kitchen, they probably have another separate kitchen for the real cooking.

This is imperfect perfection. True design. One of the only homes that I would not change a thing. More design of this caliber please. Kudos to both Kristen and her designer! Excellent relationship, layered, meaningful, personal design. Bravo!!!!
This is one of my favourite celebrity homes... The colours... The layout... The stories... And it actually looks like PEOPLE LIVE IN IT! Which shouldn't be as rare as it is. I also appreciated the way they were able to discuss the provenance of the furnishings without sounding incredibly pretentious. They really connected with everything they were talking about and it was so much fun sharing in that walk down memory lane.
There was always something about Kirsten that I loved. Now I see that I was right. She's a real down to earth human with class and great taste. ❤
Ive had this fantasy for years that we could be friends and this video only reinforced that delusion further. She's one of my very favorites :D
Too rustic for my taste but I love her anyway lol
Legend talking about a legend! I see what you mean. The only difference is that you would handpaint the wall motives yourself.
Beautiful home with so many personal touches. I love that they both agree on having objects that make them feel things because they are heartbroken. I've just started getting my 1897 house back to its glory, and this video has inspired me on a whole other level! Bravo!
Your new house definitely should be featured in AD too, Christine!
Agreed she is awesome
This is the best AD I’ve seen in a loooong time. It’s my dream to have this type of relationship with a designer. One that just understands my style and that is a true collaborator. And Kirsten’s personality and style is in every inch of the space. Well done!
Is it me, or the designer and client has an extraordinary bond of friendship( that's very hard to find in today's world)
They've felt each other's experiences, they know what the other person is thinking and they think alike too, they finish each other's sentences ...what more could one want in a friendship!!!
What is the name of the designer? Jane…
"Give me a room where I can shut a door! 🚪" is frighteningly relatable to me.. I was JUST thinking earlier today about how utterly displeasing I find an open Floorplan to be. It is antiquated for homes to be less open; but as an introvert, it is something I fantasize about! Love Kirsten! 🧡
"Give me a room where I can shut a door... specifically, the door that Jackie O used to have in her apartment, which I brought across from NY and reframed into this house."
What a refreshing home. Look's so comfortable and feels like a real family home. Good stuff. Impressive.
please KEEP THIS FORM!! This is much better than watching them go around the house. maybe throw in a bit of both once in a while but this form with the interior designer going through the process is perfect!!!
I agree.. but it seems this format was a one off😢
this feels like a house where lots of memories are created. heartwarming and welcoming. although it feels a lil bit weird to think that its LA situated lol
You must not have ever been to L.A.
@@chs75 and you're totally right. but every time I see a LA home featured in AD it feels like it's always so neat and polished and glam. not so much lived in. Didn't mean to offend
@@doyouknowaboutemmah I wasn't offended, just making a point. While many of the new builds are as you described, there is a vast array of architectural styles in Los Angeles.
I agree doesn't feel like LA. More like a rendition of what a scandinavian countryhouse would look like in the mind of an American. And I love it it looks great would live in that house (not LA) 100%.
I thought the same thing, would love to have her design my home.
I would watch a series following Kirsten and Jane discovering pieces they both love and then learning the histroy behind them. Any producers reading, happy for you to steal my idea 👀 Make it happen thanks.
Yes, id love that too. Just for ideas.
I think a lot of those were cult classics and didn't earn much at the time
She will have earned 200k+ on some earlier projects, but I think she means first film that got her a chunk of money to buy a nice house outright.
It's shocking but within the a marvel movie can mean never having to work again (unless you want to). Endorsements alone bring in millions, in addition to press, re-runs, swag, sequels, interviews events she would be paid to attend. She's fabulous and her success is 100 % deserved.
I was thinking exactly the same :o
No, because any salary she got prior to this would have been more than you or I get in an entire year. It's reported that she earned $8M for Spiderman.
I loved this. The designer and client talking about the process of getting the house decorated is such a great concept. I loved the warmth of the house and all the antique furniture. Love her
Yesss!! Their relationship is so sweet too!
As a Dane, it makes me utterly happy to see the Scandinavian touch in their design choice. This house is truly "hygge".

You also hated that bathroom, right?
I absolutely love this house! It's not about trends or ostentatious displays of wealth. It's filled with things that the owners love and have meaning for them. Just beautiful.
This is by far the most amazing home here. I've never been so jealous of a home and the furniture. I felt like I sat down across from you with a glass of white wine listening intently and taking in the beautiful home. My eyes feasted and my jaw dropped. Thank you for the marvelous storytelling.
I just love when people have really unique pieces that clearly speak to them. It doesn't need to be my taste.. I just like when people are excited about their own homes.
Love the collaboration with these two…you can see how much they like each other and how much they love finding nice pieces❤️
God bless her bravery for actually having her own taste! I'm also a fan of old things, actual ROOMS and living as you choose, rather than the way you're told is "updated".
After seeing her video breaking down her iconic roles, she deserves every inch of a fabulous house.
It’s haunting and enchanting at the same time. It reminds me of a Brothers Grimm folk tale.
I understand how someone could get emotional… all the history and stories that live in this house is overwhelming! It’s a cozy art history house museum! Loved that she choose to invest into home decor that can be passed on for generations to come
THAT'S IT. I can stop watching any other house tour because I have died and gone to heaven hearing the back stories and seeing her home. It's perfection.
This house is absolutely stunning. That kitchen? What a dream.

This is the best house I've ever seen on this channel. I was totally captivated listening to the stories and careful intention put into every piece. Incredible.
I love the way this video was filmed/edited. Kristen and Jane just talking intimately. The house is stunning. The descriptions of the things/items and the introduction of the artists/designers was really interesting. Thank you x

I've always enjoyed watching Kirsten as an actress but I enjoy her house even more. What a beauty!
@Matt Clayton Agreed. The current “in” form of interior design is shiny, new, simplistic. Everything looks the same so this was refreshing
I LOVE how they personify the furniture pieces. It's a beautiful thing to honor and cherish antiques. They really do carry the energy of their history in them in a similar way to people. Ugh, these ladies are old timey goddesses. Love it!
I love how her artistry and her old soul is being reflected in her choices of furniture and design of her home.
This is really one of the most beautiful houses I've seen on AD. It has character. It respects the history of the collected pieces. Not all shiny and trendy. Loved it!!!
Her home has so much character! It looks like all her precious things and stories are embedded in it.
This is when design is interesting. Whether it’s your style or not there is an exciting point of view. This home grew from somewhere beautiful - home.
Agreed.🔑
Really enjoy this format vs the usual celebrity-house walk through. It’s great to hear the designer talk through the collaborative process as well as the provenance of key pieces.
Well done, AD, and well done, Jane and Kirsten, on creating a warm, deeply personal house filled with gorgeous, unique pieces!
I loved Kirsten's opening line "I hate open concept!" This video was so refreshing and I really enjoying seeing a home different. The style and pieces were so beautiful but it really looked like a lived in home.
Hello beautiful Anna
Please can we talk ?
This is, by far, the loveliest Hollywood home I've ever seen. I've always adored Kirsten as an actress, and now I see that may be due in part to our appreciation of the less-than-perfect. The authentic.
I love reclaimed things like those doors. The open beams are lovely. Those steel windows are nice. The antiques and the decorating is beautiful.
I always wondered what Kirsten was like and her grandfather's ships threw me off in a good way.
She really put thought into buying things and collected them overtime.. this is how you design timeless home.
Fascinating house. Eclectic without being precious. I loved the dark colors and the stories behind the objects. Thanks for the smiles
This is so neat! I love that she invited her designer to do this with her! Everything in her home has a story. So different from the typical celeb home tour!
I like how they complete each other’s sentences. ❤️
I love how personal this house is and how deep we get to delve into their collaboration- especially the tenure- over 20+ years! I will also take personal taste over generically "good" taste any day- so much more interesting.
“I like things that make me feel things.” LOVE THAT SAYING!!!
Her house is very classic and traditional and she's got her unique touch for the design of the interiors with her helper. Amazing house
I think what's even more precious and beautiful than her house, is this sweet relationship. Two people bonding over art and culture is so delightful.
wow this house is so beautiful, it's refreshing and actually has character, not like most celebrities who live in those huge hight-tech whatever houses, honestly living there would be my dream
This home and Aaron Paul’s are the two best on AD. Originality. Design. Thoughtfulness.
I love this house even though it’s a bit too dark for my taste. I love antiques and I love that every piece in her house either mean something or reminds her of something.
I love how personal and soulful this home is.

This is an absolutely stunning home, this style to me will always be timeless. It reminds me of all my old homes and brings back so many childhood memories. Kristin and her designer have fantastic taste.
