- In this episode of Open Door, iconic fashion designer Michael Kors takes Architectural Digest on a tour of the Greenwich Village apartment he owns with husband, Lance LePere. The NYC apartment has been fully customized down to the hidden sliding doors that allow it to morph from open and loftlike to fully compartmentalized. Plus, it’s wrapped by a lush terrace beyond which lie unobstructed views south to the World Trade Center, west to the Hudson River, and yonder in every direction.

He certainly appreciates art. He lit up just talking about 2 sticks. lol Every piece in his apartment was picked out with a lot of care.
Yes! And even if the place is over the top money he seems not to take it for granted but enjoy all of it, which is how it should be. He worked for it, why shouldn’t he have a beautiful home filled with objects that he and his husband found together and love? I mostly watch videos dealing with small space living, I find the storage and living solutions endlessly creative and interesting, but every now and then it’s nice to take a break and spend time where money and space constraints are not an issue.

Used to work at one of the Michael Kors shop in duty free and had the pleasure of meeting him. He came in, thanked us all and shook our hand. He’s such a a pleasant guy and really humble as well.

This is the appartment of a real artist. It's full of meanings. Plus he has an adorable personality.
You'd expect rich people are so used to their space that they don't appreciate it as much but every single one I've watched,has expressed gratitude and appreciation for their home.

To a New Yorker, this is the equivalent to a country estate - and probably costs more. This kind of property in Manhattan is VERY luxurious and only for the ultra ultra rich. I'm not exaggerating when I say that most apartments in this area are about the size of Kors' closet - and still costs an arm and a leg.
For a guy who can own an estate he seems down to Earth and really passionate about his collections to me.. which is something I didn’t expect from him. I’m glad I watched this

I can listen to Michael Kors talk about anything all day, he just has a casual but informed way of speaking that puts me at ease.
I love books and one of my favorite categories is biography. I'd like to go to Michael Kors' home and look over the book collection.---What a neat idea to have a bracelet on display in the sitting room AND to have the bracelet in a photograph on the wall in the same room.
The decorating and collections in their place are amazing. My jaw dropped several times.

I always feel so sorry for people who live in NYC. Being proud about having a small patio and paying several fortunes for a smallish penthouse. Especially not wealthy people who live in slums and pay ridiculous amounts of money.

I’m actually a bit surprised at how normal and relatable this guy is. He’s one of the most famous designers in the world and could afford a super luxurious apt in NY full of expensive art but yet he chose moderate furniture and photos of people that mean something to him. Very cool.

Well, I have seen a lot of these house tours but no one has surprised me as much as this man. He is AWESOME! All that bowl and photograph talk is making me want to go out and buy a MK bag- either that or put a tree bark over my fireplace (pretty cool). I'm thinking the bag might be more versatile.

He appreciates his space and feels a real energy and memories form his belongings, even though things may look a bit soulless or bland or stark to some of us. There's pride, yet also respect for the beauty and energy of the place..... I really liked him on Project Runway. No sun glasses there.
