I actually think charging with a cable makes more sense, rather than straight out plugging the pencil into the iPad, I’m always anxious about it to break and leave the lighting connecter inside. However no one should ever pay 9 extra bucks just for the dongle, not because it’s expensive but Apple at it again with their toxic profit strategy.
I did appreciate the fact that going forward, the 1st gen apple pencil will include the connector dongle. The added $9 is just for if you already have the 1st gen pencil and decide to upgrade to this new 10th gen iPad..it beats having to pay another $100 for a pencil just bc of the connector.

If they laminated the display and it was $399 starting, it'd be worth it and Apple would be getting a much better reception. Even with the stupid Apple Pencil situation, lol.
I love the size and the use I get out of it is exactly what it was intended for ruclips.net/user/postUgkxUGaHtKW8MwCql2fPyIm9-ftTqSMzKFFA . I use it mostly for taking notes in school and studying and it for the most part has replaced all my note-taking on actual paper. However, the screen is not as bright as I'd like. The lights in my class are super bright and I have to adjust my angles often just to see what I'm reading/writing on the screen. It could be my eyes, but I think a brighter screen would still help. Also there is no mute switch. This might not be an issue for most people but for me, this being my first ipad and being an iphone user, I'm so used to having it there. Everyone can hear when I'm typing with it in the library (probably just me overthinking) but I'm sure I can adjust that in the settings. Just kinda inconvenient. Other than that, I really enjoy it overall

Sounds like an excellent plan. I prefer the classic design of the basic iPad models. So, to replace me 6th generation basic iPad, I ordered the older 9th generation basic iPad with max RAM and the cell data option. Why? Because my 1st generation Apple Pencil works without a special adapter, and all my lighting adaptors also work great. In addition, I ordered mine off of Apple’s Veteran web site and saved 10 percent (smile…smile).

I agree with the idea that the 10th gen is worth it, IF you do not use the Apple Pencil. I also think that if you don’t have an Apple Pencil and still want to take notes on this thing that the Logitech Crayon is probably the way to go… Idk about art though. That might be more of a 9th gen if you want cheap or an Air if you want new design and great quality Pencil experience.

I can only assume that the Pencil support is purely to just have it, and it’s not the intended use case for this iPad. Just the iPad and the keyboard, seems a good legit system.
I’m getting one so my Dad can have my iPad Air 3 to replace his older model iPad Mini! Having to hook up my Apple Pencil 1 using an adaptor does look cumbersome but I can live with that, definitely beats selling a kidney to afford an Apple Pencil 2! My guess as to why they have this iPad use the Pencil 1 and have you hook it up with an adaptor is that this is a transition and they’re doing this to clear out all their Pencil 1s before switching fully to Pencil 2 for the iPad 11!
Apple made THE strangest design choices for this iPad and this generation of iPads in general. This new iPad is so head scratchingly weird. Why would they go all the way back to a first gen Apple Pencil???? The landscape camera feels like an experiment just to see how folks will take to it before porting the design to the rest of the lineup. All of the iPads are starting to cannibalize one another. There are far too many options in similar price points with similar sizes and specs. Keep the two pros. Keep either the iPad Air OR regular iPad, but not both. And make the mini a more “pro” device by at least offering 120hz refresh rate. It doesn’t need an M1/M2 processor.
I think Apple is running out of things to do lol Plus they know if they make accessories that will go with everything they won’t make money. Any little thing Apple can find a way to charge you they will.
I think the outrage is a little blown out of proportion. Most people are going to go to Walmart, and get a stylist for under $20.00 anyway. Budget minded purchasers will probably stick with budget purchases.
Yellow is so popular. I want to see the blue one. I’m not buying 😂😂 I just bought my 9th gen. I agree that this generation is a waste of money for upgrades.
The price is 450$ - for base line iPad that is too much! Why not just buy iPad Air? Then you can use 2nd gen Apple Pencil. Or 9th gen iPad for 329$. This iPad is just nonsense.
At first I thought you were trying to say, In order to use the apple pencil you have to have it plugged into the Ipad, and I was like wtfff, Then you unplugged it, and used it and I was like much better.
Do you have to charge the Apple Pencil plugged into an iPad or can’t you just use the little cube that came with your iPad and the adapter on the eye pencil and plug it into the wall?
Yeah but I use a 9th gen iPad and I can charge my pencil fully in like 20 minutes by plugging it directly in. I don’t have to carry a cable with me; and I’m sorry that is a regressive fail on Apple’s part.
You need to attach it to the ipad once to pair the ipad and the pencil. After that you can use a wall brick or you can get one of the chargers designed specifically to hold the pencil and cap and plug into a usb c cord.
@@BreckThePanther I completely disagree with you. I've heard some real horror stories about pencil into ipad charging breaking things off and that's a hard pass for me.
Don't get confused, apple want you to go for Ipad Air gen5 , they want you to pay extra just for chip. Samsung fe+ is much better but no durability and also have lag issues in normal usage. Ipad 10 gen is now at 30k : no lags, •best display - its non laminated but you will never notice. •Durability- easy 3 to 5 years •Pencil- buy a amazon pencil ✏️ you will never regret If you want to do gaming then buy a ps5 , do not go for ipad air 5th gen , m2 chip is great but on ipad it doesn't worth it just for gaming or editing. Its apple marketing, hope you get it, any company will want you to pay extra to earn more profit. Ipad 10 will never have lag unless high end gaming.😂
I think Apple want you to use the pro models or similar to use Apple Pencil. Doesn’t really matter to me as I don’t use the pencil, so I will consider this model to upgrade my current iPad to.
You are confusing apple and the youtube tech community. If apple didn't want people using a pencil with the device, they could easily have decided to skip pencil support in its entirety. And given the reactions I've seen, I feel there are many in the 'buy an air, stupid' sub-sector who would have supported that.
they shoulda done 3gb of ram and make it round 420 bucks. if it had apple pencil 2 then it be pretty great at that price, especially the 350-400 ud see it on discount at third partys. but they just had to fuck it up
Ehem fix all those problems with buying cheaper stuff like dupe pencil and just normal Bluetooth keyboard and stylist. Save money. I doubt any of us r like artist or something needing any of those special features.
Hey there! I have a question. I'm a student and I would like to buy me my first Ipad with keyboard and a pencil. There's just one thing and that is the price... I really do want the whole experience but I don't want to spend a lot of money. So my question is which ipad should I buy the best now? Should I go for 64gb or 256gb?
Why Apple made the IPAD 10 in this configuration is because almost all companies are cutting corners so they can still make a good profit but it is us the consumer that gets the shaft so can you say hard times and crazy inflation prices !!!!!!!!!!!!
Received mine today. I love it. Bought the original iPad on its first day. Have yet to use an iPad pencil or keyboard since the day the original came out. Based on that, the upgrades on this iPad are well worth the money. BTW, I got blue and the color is way more vibrant than on apple's website. It looks incredible. If you are confussed about this beauty, it's probably not the iPad for you. I had the iPad 9th Gen and got $195.00 on trade in and bought it through Apple's Education site which dropped the price an additional $30. So for roughly $200 i got a product that should make me happy for years.
I won’t buy it simply because there is no headphone jack. I have very very nice corded headphones that I use with my 2nd Gen iPad Air They weren’t cheap so... I do need a new iPad because Apple doesn’t support my old one but I’m going to pick up 9th Gen iPad because it still has the headphone jack and the home button
Apple purposely capped the CPU and limited features on this iPad so as to prevent it from take the iPad mini and iPad Air out of the market shares lmao. Watching from my iPad 9 and I Zero reason to upgrade
bought this at a discounted price 😁 . for gaming . and surely not gonna buy that ..cable/adapter 😂😂 you can check out ..that how i got at a cheap price
No I have it a blu one and it’s good and expensive and that means it’s good and don’t make uthers feelings hurt because what if they have the ipad that your talking about and then they think they got a worst iPad but accchuly they got the best one ok
If they had the iPad pro 12'9 in that hot pink I would have been SOOOOOOLLLLLDDDDDDDDD!! instead I just purchased an iPad pro in rose gold with 256 gb for $259 at Walmart and will throw a hot pink case on it! Lol in my katt Williams voice I think I made a pimp decision 😂
Till a few days ago, I too was thinking along the same lines of how weird this iPad is and Apple have messed up here. But after trying it in the store a couple of times and comparing against the other iPad models, I now feel that this is a very well though out design. It all depends on your use case. One of the target consumer is obviously the schools & students (not college students) and maybe older people who need an iPad for very limited things. But even if you are a working professional and looking for an iPad mostly for content consumption and Zoom meetings then this is perfect for you. Plus you could just go for the 64gb model which is quite affordable. And although more expensive than similar older models, this has the landscape camera which sets it apart and makes it x times more appealing. Now, its 64gb model is perfect for the above use case and you don't need the pencil or keyboard in that scenario. But the moment your use case involves the pencil & keyboard, you would rather buy the iPad air (or wait for the next-gen Air which could have the landscape camera).
What the hell is the big deal about the damn pencil in the half millimeter gap????🤔 this is all every forum talks about that's been reviewing this tablet on RUclips and in the comments. All everybody talks about is that damn Hansel and it's awkwardness. The iPad wasn't designed only for a pencil. Unbelievable it's simple. Just don't buy it and move on.
May be you can connect an "USB C to lightning" cable using the old adaptor (included) for Pencil1. May be apple can¨t put a magnet at the same side that they put the new camera on landscape mode tu use Pencil2. May be. I think that this new iPad it s great. Expensive...but great.
If this was my first iPad, I would have no problem buying the new 10th generation basic iPad. However, for myself this would be my fourth basic iPad (I always buy the version with the max RAM and the data cell option) and, I just prefer the classic basic iPad design with the home button, headphone jack, lighting connector, and simple support for the 1st generation pencil (smile…smile).
A solid way to try one out and see if you like it. I would recommend researching them in general and being sure that what you are buying and what you want to use it for line up. Good luck.

Why don’t you just plug the first generation Apple Pencil into a IPad 9 ( or earlier) power cable? That’s what I do with mine.
I only use my Apple Pencil for digital planning.
They binned the chip as well its A14 but a SLOWER A14. Get the iPad Air 4th gen for 100 less
Do you recommend buying it if I’m not going to use an Apple Pencil with it? I just want it to watch RUclips and Netflix
I have an iPad 9 gen should I upgrade? I need more storage what should I do?
I think the outrage is a little blown out of proportion. Most people are going to go to Walmart, and get a stylist for under $20.00 anyway. Budget minded purchasers will probably stick with budget purchases.
The keyboard looks almost exactly like the logitech keyboard for the iPad 9. Except it has an Esc-key which is better imo.
Yes, you are correct. Just picked-up a 9th generation basic iPad and, I have been checking out the keyboards models from Logitech (smile…smile).
Let’s be honest. Apple have screwed up here.
Lets be honest you need to learn better grammar😂
everyone has an opinion.. mine is the pro is for people who want to run cad design on the go or something
Guys can anyone tell me the exact price of the 10th gen price with 256gb Wi-Fi only I’m trying to find price it’s so hard to find for me
Yellow is so popular. I want to see the blue one. I’m not buying 😂😂 I just bought my 9th gen. I agree that this generation is a waste of money for upgrades.
Will kingone stylus pencil be compatible with the 10th gen ipad?
The price is 450$ - for base line iPad that is too much! Why not just buy iPad Air? Then you can use 2nd gen Apple Pencil. Or 9th gen iPad for 329$. This iPad is just nonsense.
The camera placement is where the webcam components are, so there may not be space for the Apple Pencil 2 magnets.
At first I thought you were trying to say, In order to use the apple pencil you have to have it plugged into the Ipad, and I was like wtfff, Then you unplugged it, and used it and I was like much better.
would this be ideal for a nursing school student ?
Perhaps using the USB-C capable Logitech Crayon instead of the first generation Apple Pencil is the answer.
I am never going to complain about my tab s8 again....😄
Don't get confused, apple want you to go for Ipad Air gen5 , they want you to pay extra just for chip.
Samsung fe+ is much better but no durability and also have lag issues in normal usage.
Ipad 10 gen is now at 30k :
no lags,
•best display - its non laminated but you will never notice.
•Durability- easy 3 to 5 years
•Pencil- buy a amazon pencil ✏️ you will never regret
If you want to do gaming then buy a ps5 , do not go for ipad air 5th gen , m2 chip is great but on ipad it doesn't worth it just for gaming or editing.
Its apple marketing, hope you get it, any company will want you to pay extra to earn more profit.
Ipad 10 will never have lag unless high end gaming.😂
I want to know when will this ipad release in Malaysia😢
The IPad Mini 6 is the best iPad as far as I am concerned.
Can the pen still be used while charging and connected? That’s at least an improvement if it can lol
Nope 😂
@@tom_foolery93 just got to that bit hahahah, there’s literally no positive 😂
The apple pencil thing does not bother me for I never use it anyway. I have one for my other ipads and literally never use one
Why Apple made the IPAD 10 in this configuration is because almost all companies are cutting corners so they can still make a good profit but it is us the consumer that gets the shaft so can you say hard times and crazy inflation prices !!!!!!!!!!!!
Why wouldn’t they do set a USB-C male connector on the Apple Pencil ?
Genuine question. U can't charge the pen with a wall adaptor?
I needed a new iPad...I opted for the Gen 9. This iPad doesn't make much sense to me.
Hi. Can it be used by a student (with the magic keyboard) like a "cheaper" version for a macbook?
Any possibility to just reprogram iPad 10 to use pencil gen 2?
No, they need to upgrade the display in the 11th gen.
It is funny, even change to Type-C, but speed is still same as Lightning USB 2.0.😅😅😅
I have very very nice corded headphones that I use with my 2nd Gen iPad Air
They weren’t cheap so... I do need a new iPad because Apple doesn’t support my old one but I’m going to pick up 9th Gen iPad because it still has the headphone jack and the home button
Charge $450 for USB C with 64gb storage. Rip off. They will probably upgrade to pencil 2 next year for an additional $50.00.
Hi Greg. The Apple Product Team must have been listening to Whip It by DEVO . It’s logical!
Apple is running out of ideas and how to do Apple Jonny need to return and shake things up.
I have stage manager and I have the iPad Pro before they went to the M1 chip….
Oh... there's a cord! Oh it's an ipad 2022, Thought it was a Landline phone. 😁
Apple purposely capped the CPU and limited features on this iPad so as to prevent it from take the iPad mini and iPad Air out of the market shares lmao.
Watching from my iPad 9 and I Zero reason to upgrade
There is a better solution. I bought a 3rd party pencil with usb-c in the first place.
Thanks for review I just want simple iPad for clash of clans and clash of royal, Pokémon go
Finally a reviewer that is not whiny, who cares about that bullshit pen, watching this on my newly purchased ipad 10th gen and didn’t buy a pen at all😂
I guess I can use my old pad as a pencil charger.
It’s Gold
bought this at a discounted price 😁 . for gaming . and surely not gonna buy that ..cable/adapter 😂😂
you can check out ..that how i got at a cheap price
You have to charge the Apple Pencil for 5 min to get an hour worth of usage … c’mon, we can live with this arrangement.
The Apple Pencil solution on this iPad, it’s called… courage!
the iPad line up is confusing
No I have it a blu one and it’s good and expensive and that means it’s good and don’t make uthers feelings hurt because what if they have the ipad that your talking about and then they think they got a worst iPad but accchuly they got the best one ok
No aux port, there goes music production on it smh 🤦♂️ iPad 9 for the win 🏆
If they had the iPad pro 12'9 in that hot pink I would have been SOOOOOOLLLLLDDDDDDDDD!! instead I just purchased an iPad pro in rose gold with 256 gb for $259 at Walmart and will throw a hot pink case on it! Lol in my katt Williams voice I think I made a pimp decision 😂
Thank you for this review, very helpful.
👍👏
I’ve never owned an IPad. Should I go with an 9th Gen?
A solid way to try one out and see if you like it. I would recommend researching them in general and being sure that what you are buying and what you want to use it for line up. Good luck.
Crap upgrade crap Keyboard...Accountants in control of Apple now sell ur stock!!!!
The Apple Pencil 1 is the worst UX ever and just laziness on Apples end.
I just watched this same review on another youtube channel... interesting
11:25 lololol can’t even use it when charging. Why Apple? Stupidest design ever got even more stupid.
