I have yet to hear Sturgill not kill it. Got into him because he tore it up on SNL. Stayed because every single song is pure and true. Even when he does a song for a movie, it's gold.
I am a 40 year old woman diehard to the core metal fan, but holy shit! Sturgill Simpson is literally one of the best musicians I’ve ever heard in my entire life. Absolutely love him!!
Dank Santa - I just saw the movie and I wanted to post that, and I'm absolutely serious. The movie had many elements from typical zombie-type movies yet those elements don't come together into anything resembling a complete movie and many of those elements weren't even complete. This song will be remembered more fondly than the movie it was featured in.
I love how the movie was practically just one long music video for this song. It was weird and all over the place but a very unique and funny idea for a film 😂
Yeah... one of those films that draws a cult following over time. If time goes on being regarded by anyone at all. Never mind the day coming up in glory anymore for now on... I suppose when my life is over all I will have left is a few cool dreams and memories to dwell on for all of time. (Thats what the script I saw said)
There is so much truth to these lyrics. So many folks that are alive are dead souls inside. So many of those who have passed that we need back. It makes you think.
I fell asleep with the TV on woke up about 3 in the morning to this song playing at the end of the movie. I instantly had to get out of bed and find out who what where when and how. This man can sang
I usually have a speaker connected to my phone and listening to his entire country music album while i take long rides on my electric bicycle. It does miracles to my kilometer amount on my clock.
He's by far the best pure musician, singer songwriter. Hell just plain badass artist that's come around in awhile. He kills everything he does. Every genre.
Really enjoyed the movie and the tongue in cheek humor of this song being continuously reintroduced. Lots of stars and rock singers. Never heard of Sturgill Simpson before but now I'll never forget him!
Incredible. I don't think Sturgill could put out a bad record if he tried. His voice is as iconic as the rest of the country greats. A modern day Merle.
I’m glad someone said it. He’s already on that Merle, Waylon level. He’s that good and he’s made that much of an impact, already. Give it time. People will look at him in the light they should soon enough
Oh the dead don't die anymore than you or I They're just ghosts inside a dream Of a life that we don't own They walk around us all the time Never payin' any mind to the silly lives we lead Or the reapin' we've all sown There's a cup of coffee waiting on every corner Someday we're gonna wake up and find the corners gone But the dead will still be walking around in this old world alone After life is over, the afterlife goes on There'll be old friends walking around in a somewhat familiar town That you saw once when you looked up from your phone Nobody bothers to saying hi, you can save all your goodbyes Stop trying to pretend that we're all not at home And the streets will look so empty in the morning There'll be no one out at night for the lights to shine down on But the dead will still be walking around in this old world alone After life is over, the afterlife goes on Hearts break when loved ones journey on At the thought that they're now forever gone So we tell ourselves they're all still around us all the time Gone but not forgotten, just memories left behind But the dead will still be walking around in this old world alone After life is over, the afterlife goes on After life is over, the afterlife goes on
Jim is just the kind of guy who makes good art. Art is subjective and you won't hear the same opinion twice. But as long as we've got people like Jim, art won't ever die.
Sturgill really captured and nailed, banged, those country music/county folk songs from the 60s and 70s (I mean generally all do too in this genre). but I kinda really like that huhh, Really catchy and calming. And I like that piano mixed in. I now know on what favorite genre I would like too
It's Christmas and I stumble upon this song. It reminds me of my grandfather. We were not able to celebrate Christmas with him. He's sick and have we known what could happened. He died peacefully after Christmas. Can't help but to cry a little.
It's 2024, and people are leaving this planet at an alarming rate, and I can feel their pain for those who have lost loved ones. Now, I can imagine if a zombie outbreak existed and the dead start rising from the cemeteries and I need everything to survive it I would be listening to something like this song. But the movie like The dead don't die was a great movie. This should be a theme song for zombies.
Sturgill has just been on a roll since... well since he started making albums. He's one of those really rare artists who I can't name one bad song they've made.
Waylon Hank and haggard would be proud of you mate. Thank you for keeping old sound alive. The pop music they play today is awful. Old country is the greatest. Stay up Mr Simpson.
