There is so much beauty in this song . First heard this on mushrooms. This whole album is dedicated to his son . I find it very bittersweet because I lost my son in his first few months of life and discovered Sturgill not long after and this song makes me think of all I could have taught him about life, love, and God and how will never get to, but with a feeling of hope that I will be more prepared and dedicated to teach for my future children these things. I actually listen to this song now as if my son Jacob in heaven is speaking the scared child inside myself who never grew up that is full of doubt and fear. That he now is teaching, guiding, and comforting me in my journey through this upredictable and terrifying life. That he is doing for me what I did not get to do for him. That may not make sense to any of you but Sturgill Simpson's music touches the depths of my soul and has helped me grieve and cope with my loss. That right there is priceless and I hope to one day thank him personally for the beautiful music that has helped me though the most difficult thing this life has yet to throw my way. This is what artists do, they use their work to express themselves. This is the way he feels, and you don't have to agree, and you also don't have to listen or watch. I think it's wonderful that a somewhat country esq. musician is brave enough to make a point like this. Also, beautiful song, that's what I really came here for.
"brave enough to make a point like this" Hahahaha, mate like 75% of the world population has bitched about Tuck Frump. There is nothing "brave" about making a statement like this, nor is it original. Good song nonetheless. Good album overall.
I mean brave for an American COUNTRY singer... Meanwhile there are American popstars, like Taylor Swift, who haven't said a word about anything political. One of the most powerful things about being a celebrity is being able to use their voice to share their opinions on issues like this, especially to do so in an industry that is mostly considered to be conservative ( more so the fan base than the artists). So yeah, I think relative to other rising country singers, he is being brave.
+shannon lyons murphy Taylor Swift is an atrocious example as she can hardly be considered a country singer. Sturgill Simpson himself can only be considered country by proxy. "Alternative Counrty" if you will. His music has such strong influences from a broad range of genres, it's extremely hard to lump him together with the stereotypical country singer, given that his style is anything but stereotypical country. That alone should be a dead giveaway that him having an opinion that differs from the stereotypical "country" opinion does not come as much of a shock. But to play the devil's advocate here; let's say he is the "stereotypical country singer". He voiced (if you can even call it that, it's just vague symbolism in a music video) a political opinion that veers left of center. This may upset the following of his conservatives/right winger fans, sure, but think about it for a minute. The opinion he voiced is extensively supported by the media and the bulk majority of America. How is that brave? How is it brave to voice an opinion that you know will be supported? Face it, liberal opinions are the status quo. If anything, he's going to get a lot more liberal minded fans by pulling a move like this. He's going to get a lot more media exposure from liberal outlets and bringing his music to people that would have otherwise written him off because they think he's just some "racist country singer". He'll lose some conservatives blinded by identity politics (just like if the roles were reversed) and will keep those who were just in it for the music in the first place. I wouldn't call it brave. I'd call it pandering. It's stupid to put artists up on a pedestal for voicing political opinions because it alienates fans of the music. Not only that, it causes people to stop thinking for themselves because their "favorite artist" holds similar views to their own.
I think Trump may have won because too many celebrities (who most are part of the 1%) supported Hillary. Celebrities endorsing candidates makes the candidates appear elitist and ignorant to what everyday middle class American workers go through.
Stugill Simpson sings from the heart! What a true musician. I don't know why Older People such as myself don't get to listen to him. True Country I beleive he replaced Walon an all time favorite. Keep up the good work Stugill I'm a loyal fan. Your awesome and deserve more recognition.

My Mother died last October and I every time I here this song I can feel her presence with me. The second verse touches my soul. This song helped me through so much. Thank You Sturgill.
Blending the pedal steel and the horns, the production on the recording is incredible. With the rich traditional country character of his voice and the soulful sound of the horns gives you something new to listen to even after repeated listens. Sturgill and his crew continue to move Country/Americana music forward while somehow not losing touch with their soul.

This is a beautiful and powerful song and video! Everybody say love. If you look at this from the perspective of a father singing to his son (which is what it is, as the album is a love letter to his baby boy), the imagery makes sense (at least to me). We live in rocky times right now and and to me this is him telling his son that he is always with him and as his son moves in the world to choose love and kindness and not hate. I feel the imagery is just reflective of our current environment. As a mother I completely understand and relate to this song. I have been a fan of Sturgill's for a while and I wish him continued success. He's worked hard and is super talented. His success is very well deserved!
I loved his song Turtles All The Way Down, that is what brought me here. This song made me bawl like a little baby, but in a great way 💗 I appreciate the universal wisdom Sturgill put into his music. Music can be Medicine for the soul🌬🎼
Heard this song today for the first time and never even heard of Sturgill Simpson and I'm a big time listener to country music. Love the sound of this song. You are a super star.
Sturgill Simpson speaks the truth... the ugly and the beauty..he moves us because he "ain't talking no shit"and he and his band are talented enough to remove us all from the ordinary, the drudgery for just a few moments and it's so pure that it transforms you for a bit if you let it...otherwise if you don't get it..you just haven't lived enough...but you will
He’s the most solid proof of what the music “industry” is... just an industry I thank whatever/whoever is out there, that we in 2020, have some influence and power to help give someone like Sturgill the credibility and exposure he deserves. I hope he continues to transcend music into the more universal realm that we all understand
Sweet Melody in my ears, Thank you for sharing this Sturgill! I'm happy you decided to leave that railroad car career and take a chance with your music! Thanks to your wife for supporting your passion as well!

Pollywog worked for me because it was pure sincere emotion. I can't name an artist this year who was able to capture such pure emotion without it appearing corny.
In this day and time, heros are sorely needed. Thank you, Sturgill Simpson, for singing what the majority of us feel and helping us remember the real value of America.
If I was in a pub, and this song was playing on the jukebox, I would do what I have done many times in the past. I would move to the middle of the empty floor, close my eyes, and rock my hips to this rhythm. I would pretend I was alone. Maybe put my hands behind my back and 2-step in a wide circle.... We don’t need partners to dance. Just do it. It’s really liberating. (I have a dozen or more dance trophies but nothing feels as good as when I am dancing to music and lyrics that are viscerally haunting)
What a beautiful song, strictly "real country" swing heartbreak and joy from the opening notes. And such a simple story told in a muted, almost hand-colored B&W video. Wonderful. Thanks for uploading! Plus a great saxophone! We need a super-hero kid right now to push the war machine overboard, and let love shine. Says a lot about our current political climate. We need more singers like Sturgill to take a stand in such a profound way. His message can't be denied.

All Around You
Sturgill Simpson
There will be days
When the sun won't shine
When it seems like the whole world is against you
Don't be afraid
Life is unkind
You can let go of the pain if you choose to
'Cause time slips away
Skies fall apart
It ain't too hard
A universal heart
Glowing, flowing, all around you
There will be nights that go on forever
Like you're long-lost at sea
Never to be found
Just know in your heart
That we're always together
And long after I'm gone
I'll still be around
'Cause our bond is eternal
And so is love
God is inside you all around you
And up above
Glowing , showing, you the way
'Cause time slips away
Skies fall apart
It ain't too hard
A universal heart
Glowing, flowing, all around you

@@laurencezemlick1979 I have two other Sons that live here that I would have had to take away from their family and I couldn’t do that to them. Luckily my Son moves in with me permanently next week. I now have all 3 of my boys! 🥲
@@mattkeith1180 this makes me soooo happy .. what a relief brother .. no better feeling in the world .. I have two sons .. one is 16 and the other is 27 .. they are my everything.. no better bond then a father and son
Just know in your heart, that we're always together. And long after I'm gone, still be around. Cause our bond is eternal, and so is love. God is inside you. all around you and up above. Knowing, showing you the way.
Precisely!
This guy is phenomenal! Sadly, I've been missing out! Just discovered Sturgill and OMG! I'm in love with his music!
So thankful there are still real artists out there like Sturgill, Tyler Childers , Colter Wall, and some others . Wonderful Song!!
Love love love the Van Morrison influence❤
One of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard.
When music is more than a rhythm, more than a lyric it becomes medication this is medicine for a weary soul
I loved his song Turtles All The Way Down, that is what brought me here. This song made me bawl like a little baby, but in a great way 💗 I appreciate the universal wisdom Sturgill put into his music. Music can be Medicine for the soul🌬🎼
Such an amazing talent
Which of his songs is your favorite?
“God is inside you, all around you and up above” ❤️
This man writes life changing music.
the absolute frigging truth....
Nobody sould out live there kids...my respect. This guy...this tune...beautiful
More people should listen to this song now more than ever.
The words of this song are pure power. He has IT, his voice, his music and his whole attitude is everything!!
Was just listening to the bluegrass version . This is such a beautiful tune . This guy is so talented . Just what we need during these difficult times
I love the bluegrass version so much.
Wait, there’s a bluegrass version!? Must check it out. I love this song. It’s going to be our dance song at our wedding.
The bluegrass version is everything. I came here to read comments though because they're turned off on that version for some reason.
Heard this song today for the first time and never even heard of Sturgill Simpson and I'm a big time listener to country music. Love the sound of this song. You are a super star.
Sturgill Simpson speaks the truth... the ugly and the beauty..he moves us because he "ain't talking no shit"and he and his band are talented enough to remove us all from the ordinary, the drudgery for just a few moments and it's so pure that it transforms you for a bit if you let it...otherwise if you don't get it..you just haven't lived enough...but you will
Beautiful!!! Thank you for voicing the light and love in our hearts whose time has come to be acknowledged.
No idea how this song didn't get released as a single. It's amazing.
He’s the most solid proof of what the music “industry” is... just an industry
I thank whatever/whoever is out there, that we in 2020, have some influence and power to help give someone like Sturgill the credibility and exposure he deserves.
I hope he continues to transcend music into the more universal realm that we all understand
This man is the GOAT...or I just love his music that much.
Brandi Creech arguably the best singer/songwriter in the States right now. Just underrated
@@95roadie hahaha he's good, but not Springsteen good. And last time I checked Bruce personified America.
Dave O I never said anything about Springsteen
I didn't say you did, I was simply letting you know who the "Goat"is.
So effectively you did mention him.
Sweet Melody in my ears, Thank you for sharing this Sturgill! I'm happy you decided to leave that railroad car career and take a chance with your music! Thanks to your wife for supporting your passion as well!
And so is love
God is inside you
All around you
And up above

As of right this moment. There are. 486 people who hate all things good apparently. One of the greatest singer/songwriters...ever. love his sound and artistic capacity. Making Kentucky proud Sturgil. And I'm from Tennessee lol
This song is telling the story of my recently diseased ... "deceased" ... deceased cat sending me a message that we will always have a bond that can never be taken away.
Beautiful!!!! Close your eyes and his voice just takes you away......
Who's still here for this in 2024 ❤

This song plays every 2 hours at my local Starbucks. I take my headphones off and listen whenever I hear it come on over the loudspeakers while I'm studying. Go Sturgill!
Sturg, you and the boys have got me through some hard times. Thanks for being who you are.

Such a beautiful song sung with a relaxing voice
All or Nuffin yalll❤❤❤
Powerful visuals to an incredible song from an album that is an absolute masterpiece. Never let them pigeonhole you.
"All Around You"
There will be days
When the sun won't shine
When it seems like the whole world is against you
Don't be afraid
Life is unkind
You can let go of the pain if you choose to
Cause time slips away
Skies fall apart
It ain't too hard
A universal heart
Glowing, flowing, all around you
There will be nights that go on forever
Like you're long-lost at sea
Never to be found
Just know in your heart
That we're always together
And long after I'm gone
I'll still be around
Cause our bond is eternal
And so is love
God is inside you
All around you
And up above
Cause time slips away
Skies fall apart
It ain't too hard
A universal heart
Glowing, flowing, all around you
Writer: John Simpson

Awesome song!!
Best song on the album!
I personally prefer 'Welcome to Earth' the instrumentals on that song are amazing, but this is a close second.
Pollywog worked for me because it was pure sincere emotion. I can't name an artist this year who was able to capture such pure emotion without it appearing corny.
agree
'Keep it Between the Lines'
I haven't heard a song by him that I don't like. Damn he's so amazing and I can relate to so many of his songs. Also very easy on the eyes.
I love this album… for years now.
After Dwight left us thank God for Sturgil.
Thank you for this song Sturgill. It helps with the healing. Bless you.
Well that was cathartic.
One of the best singers I’ve heard in along time
Greatest artist of the century
Dammit son!! I agree 💯
Lost the love of my life a week ago. This song is now on replay. Makes me feel better
Love this so much
So proud that he is from my home state of Kentucky.
I'm not from Kentucky but I understand. And this is so awesome. I've been with my wife for 13 years and this whole album fits. Fn priceless.
So is Billy Ray Cyrus .......lol
sing it Sturgill...you music get's me right in the feels.....
