Wants this BS to stop? LEAVE. Don't sit there and wait. If the broker said 10am and its not ready and they're not paying you, LEAVE! Don't accept this BS. If you leave, the customer will get on the broker because they don't have a truck to take their freight. All it would take is for truckers to refuse to deal with this BS for 1 week to stop all tbis BS
I think we collectively have WAY more power than most of us think we do.
We can move mountains if we all stick together on it.
Tried n failed
I'm inclined to agree here, but it should be done in careful manner. You don't want to give them ability to lie, arguing that you were a "no show." Driver needs to wait a reasonable time then establish record that they were onsite and ready but shipper failed to load. That proof might be tough to accomplish.
But I agree if other parties aren't "punished" by say, leaving, this abuse will continue.
@@McGyverPilot Yup.
I like how everyone is forgetting that this has to be a team effort. Meaning a bunch of random people who don't know one another will say no. I can guarantee you that there will be at least one person that will need it/say yes. As much as we all would like for everyone to decline, not everyone can. I've tested something similar, and there will always be that one person who will take advantage of the "no's" especially if it's one of the better deals they've gotten in a while.
Realistically, this will never be possible
they get away with it because drivers let them….drivers always say they’re gonna do this or they’re gonna do that but the brokers all know drivers are just crying and will always do what they’re told
You are exactly right the brokers THINk they control the driver but in reality they don’t the driver makes or breaks it
Till I don't. I'm built different
@@Sir_knight_troopersit down
I'm confused about all the folks not getting paid detention from brokers. When I work with brokers, if detention occurs, I get paid 🤷♂️
lucky!
@@NorthAmerican-Trucking-News relationships with them maybe? I try to limit how many brokers I work with and do my best to work with only one point of contact at each
Is it lucky? Not being a wise guy here. I'm just thinking it's clear(er) communication/understanding up front. Agree to 100 per hour detention. First time they break that, leave. Lots of brokers. Good ones will pay for reliable service. No?@@NorthAmerican-Trucking-News
I was about to say this ima fleet manager/dispatcher
That’s why you call the shipper and ask them what time the load will be ready.
This is exactly why you don't need brokers absolutely useless waste of time F ALL BROKERS & THE COMPANIES
These loads on this lane is paying like 900-1000$ on the market right now… 2500$ yea, but maybe in 2021
You answered your own question. You waited.
This is why I am a company driver. Way less stress and the take home is about the same in the end. My wait time is paid and my dispatch is great.
Yeah fuck trucking!
When I was growing up in the 70s all I wanted to be was a otr truck driver.
That dream never happened. I became a chef instead.
Watching your videos answers that what if question for me. I could never deal with crap like this.
Not much longer. Brokers be going broke and FMCSA is closing in like sharks.
This game it’s gonna end very soon!
Tell em $100 an hour wait time non negotiable..
So be delusional? That's your solution?
@@Dyils you are right. Tell them $200 an hour for waiting. Time is valuable and sitting is wasting time
$2850 is totally amount for the load...... Be lucky if you get $25 per hour.
All you can do is suck it up take the time to start looking for a new Brooker......
What I use to say "all this free time I got now going give me plenty of time to look in the help wanted section. Really should throw in a extra $50 for lunch keep me busy"
Is it? If original driver splits, the risk factor of not having another truck there puts the broker in a sh!t pickle with the consignee. Besides, it never hurts to threaten/er ask.@@Dyils
@@godawgzsicem So double down on being delusional. Gotcha. Why aren't you a millionaire mate? Just walk into your bosses office and tell him, 500k a year or I walk. In fact, why stop at 500k?
While waiting for the 1pm load, call your other brokers and try to get loaded elsewhere. If a load comes through before 1pm, agree to it, sit on the 1pm load until 1:01pm, then scoot.
Sorry, but 2 hr load/unload is stantard if your pulling a box. And expect to wait 3 hrs on a good % of loads. The worse is when they tell you 9 am and shupper puts u in a door but doesnt load you until 4pm. That when demurage and detention should deff come into play, pick you battles, work woth a 1-3 hr wait. If you get stick wating for 6 hrs then have a good relationship, and broker will ne much more willing to work with you if you dont psester them constantly for 1 hr of detention on every other load, youll move down on his list of trucks to call if your "that guy" its frustrating. What can you do? Logistics is as logistics does.
I have been held up at a shipper to the point I would be late on delivery goes on my delivery record and I'm charged for late delivery or even load rejection for a few days only God has given me the strength to not do what should be done to those people 💯
Next time take the load and just go home, let them wait
When the shipper start paying detention so will the brokers……. If I am the guy asking for detention on every load they will stop sending me business,it’s the unfortunate truth. Best way to have a good relationship between both parties. Because a shipper will always drive down the price. I’m not saying I’m blameless but where are all the videos on drivers being late, or not tracking and holding loads hostage mid transit?
Like trailer transit you get 70 percent of what they tell you they got, lolol my boss called them to haul a load it was 7 bucks mile. My biggest per mile load with TT was 2.25 lolol
You got good acting skills l😂
happy you think so!😆😆
Fcfs usually do not pay detention.. only for an appt.
If 2500 is actually a good rate, wait. Rather than take 2000 +waiting time
That’s when you drive away.
Only job that I can think of where you are technically working but aren't being paid.
Flight attendants too
If u working as a server for a slow restaurant
Otr is scam
Wait staff, trucking, certain fast food positions will have their managers deliver food without that being part of the job description and no compensation (at least in my experience)
We truck drivers the only industry that don’t get paid for all the work that we do waiting to get loaded and unloaded. It’s working and for the first two hours sometimes even four hours we don’t get paid.
Should be $3500 plus detention and lumper fees
That's a shit rate for that load
Sounds like a pretty darn good load for the money... worth waiting on. If it's not just cancel and waste your own time waiting (and hoping) there's another load in the area.
Just like C.H Robinson
Makes me think of being a flat rate mechanic at a shop that just doesn't charge adequately
Companies with no hearts are sadly the common
So that means on EVERY SINGLE LOAD, youve gotta setup waiting pay and let your dispatcher know "if im gonna be sitting i need to be paid and you're gonna have to figure that out before I take this load"
This is every Broker load, EVER!!
Gotta make it clear to them upfront you charge $250/hr to wait at the customer, get it in writing. They refuse to pay, sue them.
This is why truckers don’t stay and saying do you want fries with that is a better job.
Go to the nearest truck stop and chill . Arrive back to the shipping 15 minutes early
Freight brokers are a pain
If the broker pays 88% of gross that means that he's independent O/O & using his own truck, fuel, insurance etc.
Send the broker a nice present! Scope it out!
The entity that imposes waiting is responsible.
👍
That load is worth waiting for till tomorrow
687 miles at 2500. I would wait. Lol 3.64 per mile that's a great load
Cancel the load......
It is easy for you to say that but cancelling a load without knowing where and when the other load is may not be economically feasible for the driver.
@dookoonu2741 that's why you make sure you have tools and bilt relationships and bilt a book of business so you have options.
And this is why truckers need unions.
First come first serve no appointment needed was a dead giveaway that you would be waiting
It just occurred to me after these discussions that the moment what we consider "fairness" starts occurring in this industry, the industry will simply counter that by lowering their mileage payouts across the spectrum, thus, they win again.
😮💨
Being on growth page does not take away your ability to charge the tension time. Remember the guy who makes these videos is also a broker, he is invested in making sure that you don't know what things really are alike. Ask james best
Dispatchers get paid for every working minute of their day but a driver/oop gets fucked out of money half of every day. THIS AIN'T RIGHT!!!
no trailer is needed at time, they can pay you for showing up and get you a new load or add 500 more.
F that
Tell the broker to cancle it. Call his bluff
Wait until 1. Then leave because you spent that waiting time finding a different load
Is there like a bid site for this kind of stuff? I feel like there should be a site that people can post shipment requests and truckers and browse and bid. Does something like this exist?
That's bs. Federal oversight no more brokers
What are you referring to exactly?
If everyone said forget yall and not wait when they try to pull this than you wouldnt have to
You're way too calm for that situation. Find the guy's office and feed him a sandwich
Sounds like a plan
I would leave the shipper and find another broker
I mean.... if you get 88% and they get 12% then it doesn't seem too bad. But if they do this all the time maybe switch broker?
You triggered my siri
Cancel the load and look for a new broker, If a broker plays games with your time once they'll keep doing it.
Wait til 1, then leave.
the plan!
He should of said “ first come last serve” 😂
☹️
Why are brokers lying?
Shouldn't lost time be tax deductible?
Imagine turning in w those lost wages hours man that would be ideal that might be the way we get paid ima going to write my local political affiliates about this
With that we would almost always get a big refund
🤔 hmmm where's all the truck drivers at? good job ruining trucking brokers 💯
They will rip u off,I only say that because I have 30 years experince!$$$ 😊
Smh how they treat us
☹️
Sorry if I'm there, I'm getting paid or I leave and go home. I can stay home for free.
That's truck driving!
Sure is
22% for answering a phone?!?! 😮
I got a roladex 🎉
This guy is full of red flags…
All those wasted hours 🤦♂️
😮💨
Then they dock you for being late with the delivery because you had to wait to get loaded.
Im no expert. Im not even ameircan. But why dont you guys unionise? These brokers are having your pants down.
Sad what they are doing to the trucker !
i know right
I’d not use a broker I’d charge them or leave he’s keeping the demiragge
Wouldn't this be one the plant and notbthe broker?
ATL to Ch for that money.... 99,99999% never happened. Mb in 2021 in the last century...but i understand it's for a video as an example. :)
Yeah he also got there in 4 hours from Atlanta to Chicago.
Soon they won’t be getting way with it
hmm
I always went home bro. Who gives a shit.
Truck ordered not used!!! Say no to cheep freight and bad brokers!
😮💨
@NorthAmerican-Trucking-News seriously, though I don't have time for the nonsense, and there is still good freight out there. I have no problem charging a broker or customer for truck ordered not used. Will there be exceptions sure we all have regular customers that have an off day. I will make that call once I. A while to let something slide for a good customer or one that's new and while working out the logistics. But I compensate my drivers or owner opperators. I'm not afraid to tell a customer they are getting charged or a broker. I'm also not afraid to dead head to a better area instead of playing games and I have closed my doors and had customers back down or beg me to take the load when the truck is leaving. I also have had brokers say you got a killer rate and say there is nothing left but then compensate for a room or pay extra because they said the load was ready and wasn't.. these are the times when you find out who is reputable and who isn't and who is willing to take care of their customers and also there trucks! It's one of the reasons I love the trucking industry but it can also be one reason the frustrations make it hard. I love your content you make this industry fun thank you for putting out fresh content I know many of us really watching enjoy you and your crew in order to get this great of content you really have to be in the industry and really know it well and have a love for it and the good people in it! I once had a really good load from STEVENS I couldn't wait to work with the broker again she really was a good honest broker to deal with. The next time I got the chance to be in her lane and work with her again I called. And although I did get another load from stevens it wasn't from her. I came to find out she was a victim of domestic violence and was murdered 💔 I haven't thought about that in a long time but I do when I deal with stevens or Reminisce about good brokers. My God rest her soul and bless her family this holiday season I don't know them but I have no doubt they still miss her she was a good one who went out of her way to do what's right for anyone she worked with and probably ever met. 😢
@NorthAmerican-Trucking-News seriously again thanks for the great content love you guys your crew is great! Merry Christmas!¡
Typical... Don't complain about something and keep doing it.
Can truckers unionize? Boy if we were all together on the bs it…everything stops if we stop
Yes there used to be unions for trucking but they too got greedy 💯
Do you do Toronto?
Is this what you do to your drivers
So how much in a month can u make trucking I don't understand the pay so he's gonna get 2500 for the load and can get another for less and so on
Youll make about 20K a month gross. And you'll take home about 7K. Fuel will cost you around 6K, tolls around $400, truck and trailer payment around $3600. Youll spend around $700 a month on food and drinks on the road and around $1500 a month on maintenance for your truck and trailer. And then you have some expenses like insurance and putting money aside for registration and ifta and highway permits... youll be left with roughly 7000. And then you gotta pay taxes...
Until that gross number grows to $30.000 a month honestly its not worth it. Hopefully next year we'll see a better market.
@@dejanjovanovski168684k a year take home? Sounds pretty damn good to me.
That’s amazing
That’s crazy that’s your situation I make 6k a week run 1,800 miles a week 3loads from Atlanta to Savannah Georgia load up load back 3x a week Monday Wednesday and Friday Tuesday Thursday I unload loads from Savannah in reload for Savannah for next day $1,200 in fuel truck paid for trailers paid
@glennorr1541 my situation is not crazy youre just bad at math. You make 6K a week GROSS. After 3.5 weeks youve made 20K. I suppose you wanna go home for a rew days to raise ypur kids every month so you dont make money those days. On average you make 20K a month. GROSS. Not net.
Bs these guys gets away with it stop working for them
Big deal. Just wait
Don’t be mean it’s not nice and you’re not gaining anything from it. Don’t say God and Jesus Name in Vain it’s a sin. God and Jesus Loves and Bless you all in Jesus Christ Holy Mighty and Powerful Name we all Pray Amen🙏❤️
Negotiate B 4.....SMH....don't be a sucker
GOD has a special place in hell for broker's
It's like UBER
Just go home, if everyone stoped takeing there bull no one would have to right?
🤷🏻
Is there such a course to become a freight broker?
not from a driver
Creepy lazy greedy truckers are gonna be greedy lazy and creepy.
You must be a broker or a Democrat 😂
Can't u be ur own broker? I mean, u have the truck. Can you find where people need what and arrange the price, etc wtf u need the third-party losers?
😂😂😂
Unpopular opinion. As someone new to trucking. Seem like truckers complain about lil stuff. 3hr wait? Take a effn nap..read a book ..do some yoga.
Come back in a couple years and let us know if your mind ever changes about what is minor and major to complain about!
