We usually rooftop tent but recently we bought a 30 foot class c motorhome, which is how we found your channel. We live down the road from A&H farms and we saw your rig there and thought "what a great setup" next time you are in the area we would love to meet up. You have turned us on to Harvest Host and can't wait to start adventuring. Thanks for all the great videos!!!
Happy New year and look forward to all your adventures I too am traveling with my F250 6.7 and my new freedom Express 192 trailer...and my black lab Piper......
There's no place like home! (sorry, I just can't help these Wizard of Oz references!!) It was a beautiful drive through the rolling flint hills and grassland. Thanks, Tom 😊
Another great video. My wife and I like watching your video because you keep them real. Being full time rv’ers isn’t all good times. You always show us the off the beaten path attractions. Thank you for sharing your journey.
Great seeing this video showing the highlights of Kansas! I live about 30 miles west of Cottonwood Falls and we are always excited when people take time to explore the beauty that Kansas has. The Chase County Courthouse (shown at the end of your video) is one of our hidden gems. Thanks for stopping through!
Sure would like to see more of you guys. I love watching you as you go through your RV journey. I was born in Kansas. Moved to California in 1958. Retired to Oregon in 2006.
We try to post weekly but have admittedly missed a few, sorry about that. Absence makes the heart grow fonder? 🤷♀️ We sure appreciate you coming along on the adventure!
Fun fact: If you want to see the best Wizard of Oz museum in the country, take a trip to Chittenango, New York located in Central New York about 30 minutes outside of Syracuse. L. Frank Baum was born there in the 1850's and they even have a yellow brick road sidewalk that will take you right to the museum. There's a whole bunch of neat stuff to find in there and the Chittenango area is some of the prettiest Central New York has to offer. Don't forget to stop in New York's wine country called The Finger Lakes Region South of Syracuse for some of the best wines you'll ever taste. Cheers!
Bri, you are absolutely beautiful!!! TJ is such a lucky guy!!! I so look forward to your videos. Ya'll do such a fantastic job!!! Thanks for all of your efforts and getting them out as best you can!!!
The wizard of oz was my very favorite movie as a child.. Half of the movie was in black and white and half in color. Loved the museum and you always add interesting details. 😊
If you find yourself back in the land of Oz - make your way to Topeka - a few interesting sites to see - the Evel Knievel museum at the Harley dealership, the Combat Air Museum at Forbes Field and the Kansas History Museum.
Happy new year! Thanks for sharing another really interesting video. The Embracing Detours family looked like it was going to get larger when B saw that kid 🐐!!!
Been there may times, Strong City is where my wife's family lives. The Flint hills are awesome. Cottonwood falls is nice along with the court house. Drive up to Council Grove they have a nice lake that has RV parking along the lake with good hook ups.
You guys always have some interesting facts you put out on your channel! Some of the places you go we put on our places to visit. Thanks for putting out such useful information! Hope you two have a great year! Safe travels! Chris and Barbara
That baby goat is SOOO adorable!! I WANT one!!that quilt in the museum of oz was amazing! The whole museum is actually! There is a tall grass prairie reserve north of Tulsa,& Will Rogers' birthplace & home at Oolaga,ok
I have been really enjoying your videos and appreciate all the interesting facts that you post. Makes me want to pack up and follow some of the routes you have taken. Have a safe new year.
Were you able to see any STONE fence posts? Due to the lack of trees on the plains, farmers made fence posts from actual stone, and many of them can still be seen as you travel through Kansas.
We are so adding the Oz museum to a must stop! Can’t believe they were going to cut Somewhere over the rainbow from the movie- Joel has never seen the movie and it will be a good reason to make him watch it- (Deb) Chasing RV Sunshine ☀️ Joel, Deb & 🐕 Maya
Glad you were able to stop at the Tallgrass Prairie Preserve. 1. Did you play any disk golf while you were at Swope? Two free courses for your entertainment. A regular course and a Kids Course. The kids course is more fun. 2. Glad you at lease showed a picture of our court house. I hope you took a few minutes to walk around inside it. 3. Since US 50 is a diagonal road you drove within ten miles of our place twice. You were about ten miles east of us at Elmdale, and ten south of us at Clements. I'm sure you took notice of both towns. NOT! 4. On your wind blown days, the drive south on K-177 to the Kansas Turnpike and return offers some really special views of the Flint Hills and cattle country. (Yes I know you're already well past Kansas by now.) David
Liberal, KS has the Dorthy House and there is a Wizard of Oz museum in the KC metro too. The New State Nomads just post their visit to the Museum a couple weeks ago.
Manhattan is close to Ft Riley where military base is or used to be i think. My brother was stationed there awhile & we went to visit. It's great having smart TJ who is good mechanic, among other things necessary!! You're blessed!!
I found your fantastic channel today, and you visited my neck of the woods. I love the Wamego Oz Museum. I need to plan a trip and walk the Tallgrass trails. I have a lot of videos to watch as I catch up on your adventuress& detours.
Wow! awesome job with this video!! We stayed at A&H also on our way east and they were having a fundraiser that night and we got to partake of the festivities. Really nice folks! Did you see the pumpkin chucker he built? I'd add the link to our vid with that in it so y'all could see how cool it was, but I think it's agains the rules ;-_ We are sad though we missed the OZ museum!! Y'all find the most unique stuff! Thanks for always being such an inspiration to us! Dave and Lorrie
Thank you, Dave and Lorrie!! Small world that we've stayed at the same Harvest Host in the middle of nowhere Kansas! Not sure if you had the same experience as us, but those young girls where quite the sales people telling us all about their various products... but if I'm being honest, it was the baby goat that made the sale for me 😍 We missed the pumpkin chucker, you're welcome to post your link here 👇 Regarding the Oz Museum, when we miss stuff we like to say it leaves us something to come back for! Thank you so much for being here, all our best 🤗
@@EmbracingDetours Thanks so much!! You guys are awesome! And true that, we have so many places on our list to visit again. We just do our videos for fun and to keep in touch with family and friends so please excuse the quality on this one in particular, but the link to our video with A&H is ruclips.net/video/C_vDfQPcTfk/видео.html Y'all take good care!
Army hubby and I lived in Junction City/Ft. Riley, KS, 1967. Planned to move to Manhattan but when Detroit, MI riots broke out his Army helicopter unit dispatched there so we weren't able to move as planned.
Great video! We love the subtle things like when Google lets you know when you’re in a new state! We ❤️ Wicked and have seen it a handful of times. Can’t imagine TWoOZ without Somewhere over the rainbow. We’ve read about Tall Grass and it looked beautiful 🤩 🙌🏼
I was kind of surprised to see another Swope Park. I grew up in the Kansas City area, where they have the Swope Park Zoo, which is what I first thought of.
There is actually a small, crossroads of a town in northwest Indiana called Toto. The writer was from that area --thus the character name "Toto." Looking forward to this year's adventures. Thanks guys.
I see upon doing some searching that it is the solenoid for the glow plugs that is more prone to failure then the actual glow plugs in that vintage so at least it was a fairly easy fix, well aside from TJ probably having to stand on his head to work with the limited space of a van engine compartment. Its a good thing its working again as that 60 degree chill off the Florida coast can be brutal LOL. I was marvelling at those old buildings and all the stone work and the stone fence, someone sure broke their back building up that farm.
Stop in Lucas at the Garden of Eden. Cosmosphere in Hutchinson. Oik & Gas museum Great Bend. Ulysses adobi Museum. Ulysses is famous for moving the town to avoid a debt. Also my hometown. The Cimmaron Grasslands Park in the southwest corner. Lots of stuff to see in Kansas.
So you nearly got caught up in Dorothy's tornado, huh? How perfect for Kansas! Thanks for another excellent introduction to a part of the country we've never seen but now find very interesting. Hard to imagine an area devoid of trees - we're enclosed by trees and hills here in Ohio. Thanks guys - safe travels!
That was a really cool little county park to stay in. We found one in Sayre, Oklahoma that we stayed one night at. It was a lovely little park. Water & Electric and I think it was also $15/night. Thanks for sharing your journey. Safe Travels!!
Good Video! I would recommend a trip to the Kansas Cosmosphere in Hutchinson, KS. It's not that big. But it has a LOT of space history people would not expect.
Happy New Year to you both from Wiltshire. We are in total lockdown again and can only make.one trip out a day. I took holiday this week which was bad timing but Netflix and cooking are getting me through.
Too bad you weren't aware of the most incredible ice cream that is made at the College of Dairy Science at Call Hall on the campus of Kansas State University in Manhattan...16% butterfat and absolutely delicious. Interesting that you visited the Tallgrass Preserve. My profession was teaching children who are blind. In August of '96 I completed a project for the NPS to electronically map the Preserve so that people who are blind can walk the trails receiving audible directions and information about the traveler's position in space from gps devices that are available from the visitors center. The Flint Hills is the land of sublime beauty. Great place!
Off to see the Wizard! Thank you for sharing this video. We are going to plan a summer trip there to see the museum. I so love that movie. Hope it's ok if I ask but what do you use to get your hair that blonde I just love it.

You were only thirty minutes or so from me and you didn't even respond to my last comment when you were in Omaha and headed to Lincoln. Do you guys ever respond to your subscribers? I've been to that Wizard of Oz museum several times it's kinda pricy though for a small town. I just wished I knew that you guys were in this area I could of showed you some neat things. The author of the books, when telling the story, and the kids asked what the name of the land was, he looked at his filing cabinet and saw O to Z, thus OZ was created. I wish I could remember the movie name that tells the story. There is another movie that has a very unique look at OZ called "The Tin Man", you should check it out.

The house at the Tall Grass Prairie is SO neat to tour. It is very elaborate and in the process of restoration. So neat you visited a place near me.
It's a beautiful house, we wished we could have toured it but unfortunately it was under construction and closed during our visit. Thanks Doug!
Glad you made it to Kansas our home state. Traveling down KS 177 is a beautiful drive through the Flint Hills, hope you enjoyed the drive.

Wow that was a cool museum looks like TJ got the van fix the dogs look good you guys take care see you next week
The dog went on to “appear” in movies four more years. I think appear vice act, was the word you were looking for.
Love to see a TJ video on essential tools he carries for working on the rig and van.
