As a native of western kentucky I can tell you the reason for the admission fee at the bison prairie..... People were being mean to the animals so the nominal fee gets rid of some idiots and preserves the beauty of LBL❤
If you ever get back to western KY, you really need to visit Patti’s 1880 in Grand Rivers, which can be reached by going north on the highway going through Land Between The Lakes. It is well worth the visit with Badgett Playhouse there. Nice video.
I grew up just north of LBL. I go thru there and see the signs, places I have not seen since a kid in 4H. Thanks for showing these places. LBL is a step back in time
My wife and I discovered your channel about a month ago and have since been binge watching your videos. We certainly enjoy your storytelling and style. Thanks for sharing!
As a member of the 101st Airborne, I was stationed at Fort Campbell, KY. Spent many weekends at Kentucky Lake. Found memories of Western Kentucky. Your travel home to Florida has taken you through my home area and other familiar places. You must remember how you have enjoyed yourself but have not had sufficient time to see it all. Be safe. Yes, Ben Franklin wanted the turkey to be our national bird.
We visited the LBL a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it. We toured the Homeplace 1850's and even got to help them make wooden shingles for the roof of one of their buildings. Another good video!
Hi Bri and TJ. My mom and dad had a lot of bison encounters when they took a trip up to Montana 21 years ago and the wildest deal was is that they documented the whole trip on video. Hope you guys are doing well and we love you guys. Much love, The Gore Family
I think TJ is one of the most handsome men I can think of...unassuming, smart, genuine, skilled, witty, and quiet...reminds me of my husband. Good choice Bri; you are treasured, I can tell. ❤
Thanks for the video of the LBL. I used to live pretty close and always loved visiting. Even tent camped there once and saw an eagle flying over as we camped on one of the lakes. Happy travels and stay safe.
Well that is so nice to have a sanctuary for these animals to keep on living if they can't go back they're giving them a home that's so sweet my grandparents were born and raised in Cadiz Kentucky I was always in cadiz but lived in hopkinsville ky now CALIFORNIA IT was my second home
You two are so cute. We loved TJ’s bird dance! Lol. We’ve stayed at Hillman Ferry many times. We’ve always been in the T loop that has outdoor showers. There is only a wall around the shower house but no roof! It looks like you missed that!
Welcome to my backyard LBL atv trails at turkey bay and yes need to visit patties and walk the pier have a blessed day oh yeah there is a white Buffalo you must have missed it lol
I took the $5 Bison and Elk loop and guess what I didn't see? Bison or elk. Nada. I did see a couple turkeys, that's it. I still loved LBL. The big campground has full hookups and it's huge! 360 spaces? I looked at the "dispersed camping" but the roads in looked too gnarly for my trailer. The little grocery in the village near the top of the LBL has the best potato salad I've ever eaten!
It's really amazing to see some of this amazing area through someone who didn't live there's eyes. I'm kinda sad that we took so much for granted while we lived there. It's amazing and stunning I just think we were too wrapped up in life to really know how lucky we were in our 30's. One of our Kids still lives on Kentucky Lake with her Hubby and Sons, now we love it!
I grew up near the South entrance to LBL, Dover, TN. I have aunts, uncles and cousins who lived in LBL before the government forced them to sell their property and move off the land. There are miles and miles of off roads for jeep riding and also Turkey Bay with offroad trails for folks with dirt bikes , side by side, and jeeps. We enjoy riding our Harleys along The Trace. You would have loved The Homepage had it been open, really takes you back in time. We are Wintering in TX, so glad to see a part of our hometown stomping ground. Really enjoy your videos. Dennis and Donna /Double D from Tennessee , said they have met you guys. We are in TX together for the winter.
Great video. Thanks for coming to play around in the LBL. Hope yall get to come back and enjoy more of the 170,000 playground. I see the mtbs in the van, did ya get to ride any of the Central Hardwoods Scenic Trail?
We knew it!! at the end of your last video, we recognized where you were headed. Awesome job! We didn't see elk on the wildlife loop when we were there, but a glad you did. Wish you could have spent enough time to do some mountain biking, the single track was excellent, but we get it---sometimes you've gotta keep moving to get there.
I was just there and thruhiked the North South Trail. I think the only thing that has a fee there is to get into the buffalo range, and to camp at certain camp grounds
glad you enjoyed that part of my home state!! went there for a "day trip" and really enjoyed it! your video brought back that time!! and just think it's off season!!!
We love animal sanctuaries! Always so educational and feel good (went to a realty cool sloth sanctuary in Costa Rica). And I had no idea there were bison in Kentucky...
We discovered the Land Between the Lakes in 2001. We stayed at a lodge at Lake Barkley State Park. It was fun to swim in the pool overlooking the lake! I love this area and want to go back.
At the end of the year, we’re purchasing a truck and trailer, and thinking of starting a RUclips channel. Just wanted to say I love the name of your channel.
We spent 3 weeks there spring of 2019. Great place to camp. We stayed in two of the Forest Service Campgrounds a long Kentucky Lake. Did you hear the wolf man story while you were there❓😬
Great video! Great area. We love camping in the LBL area. In fact, we were in the campground the same exact time as you guys! We were in a Casita molded fiberglass trailer on a loop just past you guys on the left, LOL! Next time you are in the area, check out Patty’s Old Time Settlement for lunch or dinner.
We have been through Bowling Green and Nashville several times but never knew about this spot so thank you for putting this on our radar for the next time. Safe travels.
We live about 2 hrs north of the LBL in Indiana, been there several times have camped on the Lake Barkley side many times, too bad you didn't get to see the Barkley Lodge it's a very nice wooden structure it has many rooms to stay in and a large marina, also camping fairly close to the lodge, travel safe..
Hi Bri & TJ, nice to catch another of your videos. This must’ve been before we saw you at Cloudland Canyon. You missed some good pot roast & spaghetti & meatball cooks. Hope you had a wonderful holiday season w fam in FL and are back on the road livin the dream. Safe travels!
LBL is not far from where I live (1 hour) and I have visited many times over the years. I also went to college near by and spent lots of weekends at Ky Lake camping, swimming and such... Almost forgot. That area before the lakes was formed, had a area known as Golden Pond. Famous for moonshine if I remember correctly.
I live in grand rivers little town at entrance to lbl. Land between the lakes is a national forrest owned by tva(Tennessee Valley authorities) research the history of it it's pretty entertaining.you missed so much there is complete towns underneath the water.in the summer the church is visible.look up hotel California it's a abandoned mansion in the woods you can hike to.there is complete abandoned town in the woods you can hike to.i grew up in lbl and have been running them hills since I was a child
When Benjamin Franklin suggested the wild turkey as our national bird, he obviously noticed its fascinating characteristics and appeal. Although the turkey lost by just one vote to the bald eagle, its keen senses make it one of America's favorite game birds.
The Bald Eagle, while more majestic in appearance is a much less intelligent bird than the Eastern Wild Turkey. I hunt them and they have incredible eyesight and speed. If they see you, they are GONE! It is said that if they could smell like a deer, they would be impossible to hunt. The eagle is OK with me, but check out the fan of a turkey tail. Absolutely beautiful. BTW there are four species of turkey in the US: Eastern, Osceola, Rio and Merriam. Have been to LBL and it is beautiful. They dug a canal between the two to connect them at the extreme northern end. Safe travels!!
Very pleasant. I thought from the “crazy” title that something weird would happen. Note that some of the Amazon links lead to discontinued products FYI but alternatives are available.
Ben Franklin wanted tge turkey to be the national symbol. Also did you know Land Between the Lakes, LBL to us locals, is the largest inland penninsula in the country. Great video!
TJ, you were commenting that you were traveling to get home for the Holidays, its mid February, which Holiday are you talking about, 4th of July ,,,,,,,,Thanksgiving ??????????????????
TJ's got good eyes he seen The White Buffalo I believe his story you're right we do learn something every time we watch one of the videos you guys take care of yourself see you next week
Land Between the Lakes is a really cool area. Thanks for showcasing it. The Bison/Elk prairie and the wildlife center are right up my alley. So interesting that the turkey was suggested as our national bird! This gives me more ideas for a longer stay. I stayed overnight once at Barkley Lake in Eureka Campground, a COE campground that was very nice. Check out my video on that!
Yall must have made this video in the late fall, i live just 50 or so miles south of here and right now i got 7 inches of ice and snow on top of my rv..LOL LBL is a cool place to explore. Tons of stuff to see and do. Also a huge off road area for atvs and off road trucks. The next time you visit LBL make sure to get a nice boondocking spot and look up some is the stories of the LBL creature! The monster of LBL! Big foot! 😉 LOL Anyways yall be safe and keep up the good videos.
Loved TJ’a comment on the Owl and Tootsie Pop. I often wonder how many people catch those quick comments or understand what the reference is. Another great video, Thanks!
They have the worst chigger in the whole country, we got covered with bites by just walking down a gravel road. We knew th grass would have them but the road? The lock and dam to the lakes is really impressive how high they move boats and barges, too bad you miss it this time.
I live in LBL at the end of Birmingham point in Marshall county, Benton/Fairdealing, I've lived all over Kentucky and had most animals here. He's right my coyote and bobcat were very polite, they turkeys wern't LOL and she is right they decided to go with the bald eagle instead of the turkey supposably because the eagle is more majestic and we didn't want to be called the nation of turkeys LOL. Profanity is very common here everywhere, you apologize too much, not necessary, we're not as sensitive here as most.
As a native of western kentucky I can tell you the reason for the admission fee at the bison prairie..... People were being mean to the animals so the nominal fee gets rid of some idiots and preserves the beauty of LBL❤
You need to check out the best of LBL there been people that turned up missing there from early 80s to just over a yr ago
Yup, Ben Franklin wanted the turkey to be our national bird.
glad that didnt happen cause turkeys are really good to eat!!! LOL
For sure shouldn’t be a buzzard like the bald eagle that eats garbage but maybe again in today’s political environment a eagle fits

The nature center hosts an awesome hummingbird showcase in August. Hundreds of humming birds and you can sit among them. Really neat.
My wife and I discovered your channel about a month ago and have since been binge watching your videos. We certainly enjoy your storytelling and style. Thanks for sharing!

Yes, Ben Franklin wanted the turkey to be our national bird.
Great video. It's nice to know there are facilities that take care of wounded and injured animals.
We visited the LBL a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it. We toured the Homeplace 1850's and even got to help them make wooden shingles for the roof of one of their buildings.
Another good video!
HI, Have you seen any dogmen? Many have, in the LBL.
Hi Bri and TJ. My mom and dad had a lot of bison encounters when they took a trip up to Montana 21 years ago and the wildest deal was is that they documented the whole trip on video. Hope you guys are doing well and we love you guys.

Should be on a tshirt or coffee mug. 😀
My wife and I love the land between the lakes.
My list of places to visit from watching your videos is getting really long. 😃. Another cool video. Travel safe.

We knew it!! at the end of your last video, we recognized where you were headed. Awesome job! We didn't see elk on the wildlife loop when we were there, but a glad you did. my grandson told me first pickedc turkey foe our bird last minute picked balled headed eagle
