Nashville has really changed a lot since I was a soldier at Ft Campbell in the 70's. After 40 years of driving a truck out of Dallas/Ft Worth, I'm headed back to Nashville(the area) since I recently retired. Lookimg forward to visiting the "new" Nashville. Thanks for the tour guys!
Nashville is such a fun city. It is very loud. If you get to go back to the Grand Ole Opry the backstage tour is worth it. Angela is a huge country fan and getting to stand in the circle was a bucket list for her. Before COVID you could get tickets and be on the stage for part of the show.
The Grand Old Opry in Opryland and instead of a shopping mall it used to be attached to Opryland Amusement Park which was country music themed.. And no Broadway is not music square.
There is a Cooter's in downtown Gatlinburg in the Great Smoky Mtns N P. too. Great video! Last time we were there, we went to Dierk Bentley's restaurant and he was actually there eating dinner. He did a photo op afterwards. So we got a selfie with him.
If you're ever back this way, you should take time to check out the Bicentennial Mall -It a park built to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Tennessee's statehood. and features an ampitheatre, a history wall, numerous sculptures and a 95 bell carillon.
I'm with TJ - The Dukes of Hazzard was my favorite show growing up. In the late 70's I refused to get into the family car unless my mom rolled down the window so I could crawl in like the Dukes. That came to an unfortunate end when I tried to slide across the hood and put a big dent right in the center. That move is not as easy as it looks on TV for a 7th grader...
Next time you're in Nashville.... (since you gotta eat anyway)... Get tickets to the Bluebird Cafe for a performance night. And have breakfast at the Loveless Cafe.
I had to chuckled at your comments about the noise. I've lived in Nashville since 1992. When I came here there was music everywhere. It was loud but so lively and interesting. Since Nashville has become a popular place to move to, the new residents have been very successful in restricting and reducing where music can be played due to noise. I don't even recognize this city any more, it's just generic.
I was so awestruck when I went to Ernest Tubbs record shop in downtown Nashville, it’s where a lot of old timers started, Loretta Lynn, Roy Cuff, and many others. I would stare at the steps to the microphone wondering how many famous feet had been there nervously performing. An amazing yet expensive city. 👍🏻
We spent time in Nashville for our anniversary in 2019. We didn’t do as much in downtown as you did. We visited the Hermitage and Cheekwood Estate. I also wanted to take photos of some of the artwork on buildings around Nashville. It was a lot of fun. We didn’t take our trailer - but stayed in a hotel. I really wanted to walk across the pedestrian bridge but we didn’t have time enough for that. We did enjoy the downtown mall going from the museum to the Capitol. There is a market there that has awesome food! Glad you had a good time in Nashville. I would agree it is expensive in Nashville. Looks like you went down 24 past Nickajack Lake. You weren’t too far from us. Safe travels.
We visit Nashville frequently to visit our daughter. It is an amazingly easy city to haul an RV around, well marked highways, super long ramps. Next exit south of the Opry is Two Rivers Park. Huge dogpark, great hiking trails and a pedestrian bridge across the Cumberland.
I took my RV to Nashville and stayed at the Holiday Inn and walked or took a Motel shuttle to the Downtown area about a half mile or so away! The Ryman theater the Original Theater was a great tour with a good story! The woman that basically built the music Business in The Grand Ole Opry needs a movie mad about her!
We live about 3 hours from Nashville and we have only been once several years ago. The pickers place looked cool. The time we went Alabama was playing a collage game, they had the red bull flug tug, and we went to a NFL game. I went to the Grand Ole Opry when I was a kid .That was in the late 70's
Nashville is a MAJOR tourist destination.....you pay accordingly and traffic is always busy.....but it's NASHVILLE!! find a place just a few miles outta the downtown area next time and save $$$... Downtown is very close se to the fairgrounds
The wife and I made a pass through before the crisis. We made it at the start of the Christmas season, Wow. It was an Amazing visit. I will be back for a longer stay. KOA and take the shuttle, save on parking. Many Thanks, Much Love 💕
Bree havent you heard the sayin "the one that dies with the most wins"??? LOL i really need way more stuff!!! thanks for taking us along for the ride!!
the "circle" at opryland was cut from the stage at the ryman. music at opryland sucks, compared to a show at the ryman. emmy lou harris was behind the renovation of the ryman, i've seen her there 3 times and johnny cash once in 1968. shows at the station inn and the bluebird are the best small venues to hear music. i live north of seattle, the trip to nashville to hear music is way better than driving to downtown seattle. thanks for the brief tour.
Had never heard of your channel until I saw you pull into the Nashville fairgrounds "campground". Been enjoying your videos ever since. We were with the Travato group.
We had Opry tickets for March 13, 2020. Should have heeded the warning signs.... Friday the 13th. Lol. Show was cancelled about 4 pm that day and we knew COVID was really here. That was the start of the big shutdown. Didn’t ever think it would still be so impacting the world a year later. I’ll get back to the opry some day.
Glad to see ya'll in my hometown. You all are gettin to old if you didn't hit some of the country music shows at night. 3rd & Lindsey on a Monday night has Vince Gills side band the Time Jumpers--They are great to listen too--there are many other small shows that are fun to hit. You did hit Frank and Mikes spot--I still haven't seen that one...see you all wasn't to impressed so I may wait and visit the location in Iowa. Need to comeback to Nashville and hit the Bluebird Cafe and Eat Breakfast at the Loveless.
Enjoyed the video. I like Nashville. I live in Atlanta and visit Nashville 3 or 4 times a year. It is expensive. Parking near Broadway will run you around $30/day. Most of the bars have live bands all day and night, most are very good. I usually catch a show at the Grand Ole Opry - 2 or 3 well known performers will put on a 2 hour show, but it can cost around $100. The circle in the floor is from the Ryman. Stay safe.
Nashville isn't just an expensive place to visit if cost a lot to live there and traffic can be a challenge. Have family that lives in the area. You got some of the good tourist spots. Great video, really enjoyed it. In all of the videos I watched of you two that's the most excited I've seen TJ get!! Safe travels.
Music is my religion, and Johnny cash is one of the best at delivering messages. I quote his music a lot in life. I very much enjoyed this episode. And, yet again, you guys found places I had to add to my dream list of places to visit. Ps: today 2/26 is his birthday. He would be 89 today.
Glad you guys had a good time in Nashville. There is so much to see. We are from just outside the Nashville metro area and are about to start heading out on some long RV trips. We certainly enjoy your journeys and hope to run into you sometime. Safe travels.
If you ate still in Nashville and want to see Jonny Cash sister look up the cowboy church behind Cooters. She and her husband are the pastors. A great Nashville band is Organic County we have seen them dozens of times at The Score Board. Also right behind Coopers. You will this group.
There is an Army Corps of Engineers campground about 13 miles outside of Nashville (Anderson Road CG) that is one of the best we've ever stayed at. Highly recommended, but tough to get reservations as they fill up quickly.
I feel your traffic pain TJ, we just did a weekend of urban camping in Bellevue Washington so we could take our kids to tour 5 brand new playgrounds. I quickly realized the pain of trying to navigate and park a full size truck in a major urban city.
@@EmbracingDetours it was the perfect first trip of 2021. We almost went to the newly renovated Lake Sammamish state park playground but all the state park play structures are still closed due to covid... This is my most favorite episode you’ve done yet. I’m subscribed to your channel with another account and watch all your shows (well almost all.) but this was my favorite one yet. I too love the Fall Guy, Dukes of Hazard, Smokey abs the Bandit, etc.... I hope we run into you two sometime. Keep up the good work.
Look for " Winding Stream". A short movie about the Cash /Carter connection. Best I've ever seen about the roots of country music and the evolution of Johnny Cash. I watch it every month or two.
Well it has taken me about 2 weeks to watch all of your videos. We live in Minnesota so no camping here till may. We bought a new Rockwood Travel trailer in 2020 and are planning on traveling 3-4 months a year once covid is over. I love your videos, very informative, and well shot and edited. Also like the good and sometimes the bad things that happen and you try and record it. (even if TJ does not want to talk about it) I'm like him, just leave me alone and let me fix it in peace!! Thanks for doing what you are doing, and hope that you are both doing well. Maybe we will see you out there some day! Boone
I realize y’all are probably already heading down another road, but just 2 hours south is a community called The Shoals made up of 4 cities that would like to invite you to visit. We have an artisan feel with strong music and historical roots. From Helen Keller’s birthplace to the Alabama Music Hall of Fame, as Mayor I promise to give you the grand tour. By the way, my name is also Kerry Underwood. Come see us!

Sorry, but when the wife and I go rving, it is to get away from cities and people! Hats off to ya if you RV to cities, but it is not for us!! Good day!!
Planning is where it's at. Nashville has brought the players who know how to steal, not unlike Colorado Springs. I can't stand the traffic. But, if you camp in a tent in Tennessee State Parks, and they are everywhere, it was $7 a night a couple years ago and it was peaceful. The people from the millennium want to pay hugely to get fat .Libbies.
I sympathize with you TJ; couldn't get my wife to understand either, that you don't get rid of 'it' because you may need 'it' later. Why don't women get that?
This is one of the best episodes yet. American pickers is one of my favorite shows. Even met an delt with Frank a couple times.
I saw Johnny Cash in concert when I was a teenager. It was AH-MAZ-ING. Great video. Thanks for all you guys do.

👍🏻❤️
Nashvillian here. Gosh, you only went to the touristy spots that locals totally avoid. We never go to Broadway or any of that.
Been to nashville 4 times, back when the real country music singers were alive
Now its not for me
