- This welding job was one of the most grueling ones I’ve done to date. It took everything Mr Clean ,Cricket and me had to get it done. With over 26 hours of raw footage and 500+ cuts the edit was just as grueling. I completed this job in January and just got around to sorting through all those hours of welding and fabrication. I hope you enjoy this one and maybe pick a welding tip or too up along the way. I poured my heart into it.
Here’s some of the welding gear I used-
Black stallion FR Jacket -amzn.to/3OtDYWc
Black stallion 1611 welding gloves - amzn.to/3Ir5aB1
Welding neck bib- amzn.to/45eFdi9
Smith

Mr Clean running the 2 stroke saw with no saftey glasses and no respirator 😂
He’s a savage
For sure
@@MeltinMetalAnthony A savage now, lung problems later. Please help him know that and hand him a dust mask.
At first I was like "damn these stairs don't even look that bad" but as you tore into it I realized how done they were!
My welding company is doing stairs and rails at a college campus. We got sick of people walking through our shit, so we coned and tape them all off.
That also covers your ass from getting sued.
Put a land mine next time
Anthony always finding us the choice job sites 😂
Just a tip when cutting brick or concrete , have someone dropping water slowly to reduce dust
Anthony you’re the IC weld of stairways.
Watching you work makes me glad I'm retired.
Rad video. Thanks for the shout out. my man Cricket out there Shining. 🤙🏼🤙🏼
Bobby out here keeping shit gre-eeee-heasy!!!!!
🧡🧡🧡
What l like about videos of this type is that folk in fabrication or looking to get into onsite welding jobs should consider these an education and advance warning.
Education in how tricky jobs can be done and,
advance warning of what you might find when you start a job that you didn't see whrn you first looked at it.
Another fine installment young man!
Thank you sir!
So much lovely silica!
On the flip side, seems like a pretty efficient/effective crew.
Orange shirt dude's lungs are packed full of that goodness.
I appreciate you sharing this job, I can only imagine how hard it was, plus recording it on top makes it that much harder thank you and God bless. 🙏🏻
Thanks for watching!
@@MeltinMetalAnthony big fan as well, i really enjoy coming home from work and seeing someone take on monster jobs XD
Thank you for posting videos like these. I've been doing small fabrication work on my own just to get better at it, one including building a custom exhaust system for my truck. Your videos really do help a lot with understanding what to do and you always manage to show something that I haven't seen or learned before so really Thank you Anthony!
No problem brother ! People like you keep me going
Wow , that's a lot of work guys ..
NICE TO SEE YOUR BACK!
Thank you brother!
Big 'ole bite of reality demo & fab work. Nicely done and no animals harmed in the making!
*Wow that was a big job. Immersive experience was so good I was already regretting bidding on it before I realized this was your shoot and I was just having a bad dream, lol*
Who is the fool in the orange sucking in all that brick dust 🤣one of your professionals 🤣.Duck tap Anthony and the Goonies WHAT AN OUTFIT .
Mesh goes in concrete. It’s what it does. Fiber isn’t in every budget.
That’s a hell of a torch!! 🔥
Nice work man!
Thats the same place you and big Tom welded the railings!
You have inspired me to NOT take on a side job that is pretty much identical to this ….. In an apartment complex that is being lived in ….. Thanks!!
This looks like a 1970;s Goverment spec school building. Clearly some one liked to over build lol
Nothin wrong with over built remember code is bare minimum
Overbuilding- or building to last a century
I have the same 90 amp Century welder. Works great for small jobs where 220 ain't available.
really enjoyed this longer video andrew, keep them coming!
Great work and content as always
Hell yeah, good job getting it done guys 🤘
Good job. Needed to be done, but as rusty as it was i guarantee you these stairs would have been safe to walk on for probably 20-30 years before it actually collapsed. Youd be surprised how little metal it takes to hold weight up. I remembered years ago i guy i worked for had a lowboy and one day after an oversized load he tells me to grease it(i never used it but it was a rainy day), so I'm under there and the ubolts on thr bsck axle are literally 90% gone and it still was abke to hold a 80k lb excavator.
Awesome work
Really great work, Sir. Thank you for letting us follow along.
Century FC-90 FTW......I love mine, super handy around the house and it punches well above its weight class with .035 wire. My only complaint is they should have given stick leads as well to run 3/32 rods. But it still gets alot of work done.
Another amazing job 💪💪💪
0:21 mrclean needs a safety mask
Loved it man great job and as always love the outro
This was cool to see. I've only been a welder 9 months and haven't been taken out to the field. Hard to get a visualization of what it all looks like installed from only welding caps on the ends and welding angles on the channels.
What’s the best welding job to start out as when I graduate next year
I am currently an ironworker and do the same type of Jobs and have found to make life easier to cut in tight quarters where your cutting disk has a high probability of jamming to cut material top down and leave a 1/8th of material then wack it with hammer or use a Sawzall and a Diablo blade. also for the welds in the back corner of the pans to use a torch to feather the welds off , less cutting disk dust and noise. Speaking of the dust for concrete and metal cutting/grinding use a mask 3m 6503q quick latch respirator so you can speak when you want too and not have to rip it away from your face and less black boogers and hacks in the shower after 😂
Also use Caution tape or pilons and yell at guys who run on stuff that your working on , if they get hurt that's on you , give that guy some shit and have less liability on your end , we are steel workers and we know whats safe and when it's not safe from experience, some people have no clue , oblivious people man 😂
MAN ARE ALL THE RAILING JOBS YOU DO PAINTED BLUE, THIS IS SEEMS LIKE THE SECOND ONE , SEEMS LIKE IT NWAS A SCHOOL, HELL TOO LONG AGO, KEEP'EM BURNIN
I'm glad it was you doing those stair pans and not me that is my least favorite job 1 pinch tighter than its supposed to be and you figured it out it don't that get the grinder that's why I don't like stair pans I let someone smarter than me do the install I just think I am alright in the prefab shop that's my day job actually but like I said before I got a mobile setup and I like what your helper said 6 ft that's the cap smart man
really good job bro, greetings from Poland
Im diein to get on/do jobs like this your an inspiration!
Always learning the good shit from you, thanks bro!
Looks good job well done
“I’ve had women bigger than that” 😭😭😭 I was dead when he said that
😉
Even some rosette welds!
Legit vid bud! Heck yeah.
im not mad at the mans take at the end, 6ft thats the cap. no cap
4:43 “It’s just like floating” 😂😂😂 I died laughing
Damn, in 24 hours almost 15,000 people watched you do your weld repair. That’s crazy
Let's get that playlist
Gonna work on them more!
What a nice team effort. Cheers.
Love the video, this is the kind of shit I want to do. This video helped alot visually, thank you.
good video
Absolutely fantastic work and video looked like a nasty job but you sorted it 👍 and had a laugh with some great blokes that makes all the difference in a crappy job.👍👍
At least you guys had a good time, that makes a world of difference on any job 👍 and fuck it’s about time you used a little wire feed lmfao 😂
Chris is gnarly with them safety squints
🤣 he is Gnarly for sure
You gotta get the 12 vs wire feed it’s fucking awesome, rods are always easier than lugging that around but in situations like this that’s what i would use
anthony this is great :)
Parabéns ,
gosto muito de seus vídeos, são de encorajar e serviços tops. sou Ricardo do Brasil. sou serralheiro aqui.
abraços.
Thanks Ricardo! Hello from Montana!
@@MeltinMetalAnthony Você acredita que ja soldei como turista ai em new Jersey kkkkk. já fui para seu pais e maravilhoso me contrata que eu vou ate Montana kkkkk
Hopefully Mr. Clean was wearing some type of respiratory protection!
Hey dude I love ya! but stairs should never be level.... need the water to run off... make it a lil off
Level side to side they are, front to back we do 1/16 -1/8 that’s the code
Use you PPEs Boys. 👍
I did 😮
@@MeltinMetalAnthony not your friends or partners . 😬. Great videos buddy. 👍.
@@EC20121protection is gау! Raw for life brah
School money. Nice. How do I get a gig like that.
There are a lot of .... eh hem .... "fabricators", that would not take on a job like that.
Ya gota have the aptitude for "dirty work"
💯
😂😂😂 don't eat the forbidden chips!! 😂😂😂
indeed, people do like a free chicken sandwich. makes them come back for more! Good shit dude!
Awesome💯💯💯💯
It's always great watching Anthony's videos! By the way, how do you quote big jobs like this?
Stairs is easy work once you get a few under your belt. You'll get there
I got hundreds 🤣 what’s not easy is fucked up demo
@@MeltinMetalAnthony You not lying, demo is the worst.
That was a bit of an epic shit storm on how to remove over engineered stairs .. especially buried in concrete ..liking the prefab idea and yup bitch when it goes smaller in the bloody middle as your trying to work along it .. goes to show that remedial work and replacement work always throw a spanner at ya at some point . As you say long days into nights but it's done and dusted and a very enjoyable video 2 great guys to work with makes a great team. Humour and great work ethics makes it a good job . Great video cheers fella .
Great video dude. The way you edit told a story in of its self . It flowed nice. I dug it. And you filled in some bits with talking letting us know whats up.
The step pans, do you stitch weld them or do they get welded all the way around?
Rad video dude.
Gotta stitch weld them of you’ll warp the stringers like I did anyway lmao
Gotta stitch weld them of you’ll warp the stringers like I did anyway lmao
Just standard old staircase with expanded metal an a poured staircase
Like the longer videos more
Why not an heavy duty impact drill for the bolts?
Meltin Concrete Anthony
safety ,safety
Hey man! Just found your channel and been binge watching it haha. I really enjoy your content. I’ve been doing steelwork for about ten years now. A lot of structural and ornamental stuff. I was just curious why you guys didn’t put up stair pan brackets? The other thing I wanted to ask was if you fabbed the pans yourself or if the contractor had the fabricated and you just assembled. I’m trying to take more work on for myself in my spare time and insight would be great. Thanks in advance man! Keep putting out great content! Best Regards from Boston Massachusetts!
Hello brother! I don’t use brackets for these pans because I have so much weld surface, just extra work for me. Also they are made from 1/8 so plenty strong
I would love to do that job instead of fabrication shit man I'm a welder but I love to demolish shit with a big hammer or crowbar
It's always like that on 1 offs
Those steps you were talking about you never seen used on stairs like that are called "Precast Concrete Treads" and they suck pretty bad to install as well. Especially if its multiple runs up multiple floors carrying those treads one by one. And fabricating and installing the stringers and pans suck too everything about those types of stairs suck.
keep cricket around
So far he has
Just curious whats the size and gauge of the c channel and where’d you get the stair pans?
What type of commercial insurance do you need to do mobile welding like this? Great content 💯
Anthony did you do a risk assessment using cutting torch under stairs?
Bro I know how you feel... I did this wood deck for a lady last summer, just a little 15 foot by 10 foot back patio, 2x6 decking, and 2x2 raillings, and a 6 step stair. She wanted it gone, but i figure we just power wash the wore off latex shit paint off of it and stain it properly and shell be good as new!
Well fuck me sideways i show up there saturday morning 7am with a rented 4000psi pressure washer, a brand new set of tips i just bought and the paint aint coming off AT ALL. Turns out theres like 3 coats of this shit and the old lady is starting to give me the side eye. So I pack it in and go get the only other thing i can think of, my 35 gallon, double head, 400lbs monster of an air compressor.
I plug the beast in with my welder plug adapter where her stove plugs in the kitchen and try my portable sandblaster, LOL NO, im just eating away the wood and making an absolute mess of sand all over this lady's yard and she aint havin it.
Its like 1200 at this point, so i go to RONA and get me a 4 inch makita belt grinder, my full face 3m, and extension cord and like the whole stack of 60 grit belts and i go to town on this deck bro. I had to take all the raillings off, old 2x2 dimensional lumber, and rip all 4 sides on my table saw to keep them nice and square, did that 57 times ( i remember how many cause I had to buy a couple extra when i threw them in my van out of anger lol).
In the end, took me until 9pm on sunday to get it sanded, stained twice, and pack up all my shit in my van and my truck. But i made a 2k profit in the end, and im still doing jobs for that sweet old lady.
Stay safe buddy, and when you coming up North to see how the real men do it???
a little tip if you care to learn from guys with more experience. You should add angle clips for each step to rest on and/or simply and quickly just draw out where each step will be on the stringers using a framing square. would take a couple minutes on each stringer to draw out and not much more to add on angle clips if possible/ allowed in the bid, and you'd FLY through the steps part. Stairs is all math. Once you got the math down the rest is a breeze. Well besides the heavy as fuck stringers
I'd love to do a staircase with you in the future. I hang stairs in New York and New Jersey in a union environment. When labor costs are high, technique and preparation are tantamount. Take things out in one piece. Bring things in one piece. Sheetrock carts, furniture dollies, nylon straps, aluminum picking beam.
Yo been following for a while. This stuff you can’t learn in school , who put you on ? If you don’t mind me asking.
Well a bunch of people. Not a easy ? To answer. I’ll make a short at some point
Urban community.
Was that a flux core century welder?
Yes
@meltinmetalanthony so I just started my LLC if I were to repair stairs and other things on a stairwell railing etc. would I need a CWB (take a welding structural test)
My guy please please get head band or chest rig for the phone or go pro that would be sick pov irl shit
Tried I break them and it’s too much work as it is
Doesnt heating that bracket anneal it?
How much did you charge for the project Anthony? 4 days total?
I gave them a deal because they have given me lots of work. 14k with everything
90amp flux core Welder for that metal? Isn't that way to small of a welder!!?
Mr clean does not believe in ppe lol
Read that tape measure correctly boy.
Seriously
16:23 you're not supposed to eat that....... =/
Love my black stallion welding gear love this channel and love your work dude always learn a lot specially with gasless flux core everyone mocks me for using gasless flux core mig but I love it I just tell them to get f$#cked lol
Those little welders are super convenient
How do you end up bidding these crazy jobs?
I honestly did this really cheap. But this school has given me lots of work so I’m ok with it. It was just under 16k
@@MeltinMetalAnthony They got a good deal.
@@MeltinMetalAnthonycheap af! I would've charged 25k. I know fence companies getting 10k to install like 70 ft of fence lol
