I have been fitting these to all my bikes for years, they are a great add on!
I had them on my old Gen 1 KLR .
I put them on because my throttle hand would go asleep from the vibration.
The foam sleeves fixed that .
Much more enjoyable to ride.
Bill,
Thanks for the comment. From the many miles on my KLR, I could see how these would have helped.
Thanks for watching.
I didn't know about these until riding a buddies bike that had them. They are VERY comfortable...............especially if you've got larger hands.
I just added them to my Goldwing before heading out on a 250 mile run. It enhances any twist on the throttle so you have to learn a little is more. Nice enlargement of the grip.
They fit my grips without cutting. I put them in a bowl of hot water for a couple of minutes . It was a couple of minutes of pushing and pulling but they went in fine.
Made that harder than necessary 😂
I went straight over to eBay and got some! They're Grrrrrrreat! Thanks for the idea. They work fine on my KLR.
lol watching you put them on dry like that really put me on edge man
Love them. Commute 40 miles daily, comfortable.
Thanks for the review Tim. I'm going to order a set for my Super Tenere. BTW, really nice garage you have sir.
Thanks Christopher.
Use alcohol hand sanitiser to lube and will slip on easy. Made a nice difference.
add a little dawn to water Easy to install, love them on my BMW 750GS
I’m sure you’ve heard of it but just in case you haven’t.. I’m a huge fan of the “Cramp Buster” For me.. having the beemer buddies and the cramp buster made all the difference in my long and even short trip riding comfort. I had a throttle lock type cruise control but with this setup I rarely needed to use it..
Thanks Supertrucker (cool name). I've seen the Cramp Buster, but never used one. The cruise control on this bike really helps on long boring highway miles. But I still rarely use it. I'm just old school and like having my hand on the throttle.
- Thanks for the comment!
I use them and like them, but I go through a couple sets each year! The tend to wear and split pretty quickly after light to moderate use. Buy extras!
Man you went from a klr to a gsa. What an upgrade!
Great vid Tim, appreciate the production value. What's your hand size? This looks like a great product, how do they compare to the SMARTSKIN™ Original Beemer Buddies Comfort Grips? Thicker, thinner, durability or about the same?
I see the KLR Owners group is here checking on this product. 👍 4 hours riding that beast numbs my hands. I am hoping to help that issue with some of these Puppies.
Hi Tim, can I recommend ‘L’ORÉAL Studio Pro, Lock it, extra strong level 5’. This idea I got from an American biker on his RUclips channel. I was replacing the rubber grips on my 2003 GSA.Z. Great care is required as when you start removing the original grips, the very fine heated grip wire become visible and are super easy to damage. Worked like a treat, the new rubbers slid on effortlessly, with no detrimental effect to wires or new rubber grips. A supplementary story to this comment is I sent my wife to our local Superdrug Store to get the spray. Unbelievably, the assistant, without any prompting said to her, ‘Ah I see you are fitting new grips to your motorcycle’. My wife almost collapsed and immediately came home accusing me of setting up the assistant in the store 🤨🤔😂🤣😂🤣. This is a true story and I am not sponsored by L’Oreal. Kindest regards from Bonnie Scotland. Joe.
Thanks for the tip Joe.
I used a similar product for my old gs called “Beemer Buddies “.. they’re made in New York and worked awesome for my bike. I don’t have a gs anymore but they lasted for a few years and still we’re in great shape when I sold the bike.. Might be worth looking into. Just thought you’d might be interested..
Hey, thanks for the info.
I used them on 1200gs, I liked them.
Thanks for the comment and for watching.
You can apply a few drops of oil to slide it in
I like to know what brand seat sheep cover you have.
I used an air compressor to install, crazy easy.
me too, I could not believe how easy it was with air. literally took 5 sec, it went on like magic!
what about after using them after few months.. does it go shapeless?
I have had them for 10 years on my LT due to its stiff throttle spring. I like them, but they are a little big. I wish they were about 1/2 as thick as they are so that the overall diameter would be about halfway in between my current grip puppies and the stock grips. The good thing is that over the years and yearly 75,000 miles, the grips have compressed and worn to pretty much fit my hand and the diameter is a little less than new. Certainly, well worth the cost and the hassle of installation.
And, yes a little soapy water made installation much easier. And the water and soap solution will dry and leave the grip puppies well adhered to the grips.
Thanks for the info LT. You have done a long-term test already. Good info.
Thanks for the feedback and for watching.
LTVoyager...Agreed. Wish they were thinner. I put a pair on my bike and found them too fat, so took them off after a week or two. Vibration still a major problem so I'm putting them back on for now, and will try to persevere.....
MajorTom Like Glenfiddich, they get better with age.
soapy water. nuff said
I am a metric guy and I aprove this video.
Thanks for watching Alfredo.
Used some dishwashing soap the grips went on in a second
few drops of soapy water and it slides as breeze.
purchased these as was told by BMW to replace my heated grips with OEM grips would be $750AUD, or $545USD, as only option they have is to replace entire assembly, rather than just the grips. screw that.
7:20 to 7:30 Yeap. that sexy slideshow footage of less than 20 fps. lol I did thumbs up the video ftr. Cheers.
Thanks for watching.
Tad of soap on finger to rub the inside of the puppy before installing will ease the slide on process.
Hey Mike, thanks for the tip. I did try a bit of water on the second grip and it was easier, so I can imagine that a little soap in there would really help.
Thanks for the comment and for watching!
Windex lets that slide on, and dries later.
Windex FTW!
Not sure if there is anyone out there that get hand cramps. Would be nice to know if these grips help remedy this. Thanks for the video.
Although I did not get hand cramps, the Grip Puppies do allow a more relaxed grip and my hands are more comfortable on long rides.
If other can comment, please do.
@@Tim2Wheels just ordered a pair. Worth a try.
Fitted these to my 03 Aprilia Mille, used them for 30 miles then stopped and made the final fine tuning adjustments.....
sliced them off and threw them away. TAT.
Hopefully, 41 mm, not cm. 😂
Heh! Yes, mm was what I meant.
Hairspray.
read the instructions next time lol
Yep, I have that problem quite often! :)
Hairspray works
