These cars were known for excellent steering and handling. It's very precise on my 87 GTA, I wonder if there is an issue with this car the owner doesn't realize. You shouldn't have that much play in the wheel

I’ve always been a sucker for low-mid budget mini-series and made for tv movies from the 90s. “Dune”(2000) has been a go-to of mine for a while. It pairs nicely with SyFy’s tendency during the 90s to run the V mini-series every summer.
Obviously you guy’s have never driven a classic muscle car! Common guys, you can’t be comparing this car to a modern one. It would be good idea for you to begin with the oldest cars and work you up, you will get better insight and appreciation and it would be not as much pain to listen to you two.
Pre 90’s cars will still be able to be driven 30 years from now. Especially cars from the 60 and 70’s. Todays cars will not because they will be unrepairable. Both because of unavailability of electronic components and lack of ability for the average owner to fix them. I think this is something that escapes both these guys.
Dang guys, Glad the owner was good enough to trust you with his car. Plus, you knocked the heck out it. You both need drive more rides in something other than whatever you've been tooling around in. Do you see Ferrari as an everyday car for a comparison? How about one from the late 80's that's still a different league? I'm glad you did get some smiles out of your drive. Good to see it wasn't all pain and misery. Oh, that mullet stuff and the 80's. Back then the folks who bought Trans Am's like the one you were driving had paid a lot more than what Joe dirt was willing to come out of pocket. Might take away some of his beer money and smokes.
As far as bringing a car to the channel, how about an 03-06 Evo VIII/IX? Love those too 😎 If you can get your hands on an Evo RS, they are super raw. Absolutely no driver aids and you are the ABS 😀
I really wonder if there was something wrong with the car. An 89 Turbo TA isn't floaty with bad handling and brakes. I mean, it might be compared to a brand new Ferrari, but compared to a normal car they are pretty good if it's properly maintained.
you guys are really right on...........i enjoyed your smiles as you drove my prom car.. yep.. wish i knew what i had....ive had every bird and i still feel neglected....
Holy trinity…Syclone and Typhoon had a Chevy 4.3L V6. You are riding in the fastest Trans Am ever made you do realize that right? Coil near plug distributorless ignition and sequential fuel injection not modern at all is it. Vette sized 4 wheel disc brakes to haul it down from the 153 mph top speed. The f body was second behind vette in handling for US cars
There shouldn’t be any play or “middle vagueness” in the steering. I have an 89 GTA & the mechanic adjusted the “backlash” on it & there’s no play at all.
I'm going to guess that the guy with the beard, is used to driving BMW. It just seems that he is so far out of reach of American cars. Pontiac T/A's were known for their great handling and yet this guy says it floats.? And he's scared to turn the wheel. If your going to review cars for your RUclips video, you might want to take an aggressive driving course, to actually learn how to drive instead of letting the car drive you.! Oh, and it's not originally depicted as a screaming chicken, it's a Phoenix. But, as bold as it was, people made fun of it and screaming chicken was a humorous pun.
Believe it or not, BMW is probably the brand we’ve least driven haha! Also, funny enough, we’ve both been on track taking performance driving courses. Your assessment is correct however, pre-2000s American cars are not exactly Evan’s forte. As we have more opportunities to drive such cool cars, I’m sure that’ll improve. Thanks for the feedback! Fun fact about the chicken btw!

Bolt into a '68 Dodge Dart with a 426 Hemi and talk to us about the '89 T/A being crazy after that. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Keep after it fellas! Entertaining AF!!
Thanks!
These cars were known for excellent steering and handling. It's very precise on my 87 GTA, I wonder if there is an issue with this car the owner doesn't realize. You shouldn't have that much play in the wheel
Maybe worn rag joint
Need to adjust the backlash (what my mechanic called it). It removed that issue for mine. Steering is laser precise.
I was thinking the same here. That steering and handling should be very precise and quick. Something is wrong with that steering. I currently drive my 1990 formula to work and love the handling of this car.
You have to tighten up the worm gear on the steering box after 30 years. It takes 5 minutes and night and day difference. I've owned my TTA since'91
These guys 😂. They know nothing about this bad ass car. Kids 😅
LOLZ! I enrolled them in AUTO SCHOOL 101 already..I doubt they will attend!
They don't know much period.
My TTA I've owned 22 years since High School is pretty quick. 10.0s in the 1/4 on the stock 16" wheels
thats a brutal et,i guess you run stickies on the crosslace rims and must have a huge turbo now
@@trillrifaxegrindor4411 Hoosier dr2 and small cast 6157 turbo
Interesting interpretation of a big old muscle car.
Way more reliable than today's vehicles!
Still own a 89 TA GTA…the 80s were the best❤
I waited 4 months for my Turbo T/A ..It comes all brand new The only issue was a torn leather bag for the T-roof glass Many of chats before, During and After with the salesman His brother done custom leather work for horse saddles And stamp work etc They make me a camel brown leather bag with " Turbo Trans-Am " stamped on it ....The only one with a color matched real leather bag
Next I was driving home from work (Longweekend) In a rush I had thrown on the T-roof windows However did not latch one proper Driving quick to beat the rush hour traffic A guy in a V6 mustang was under the idea i wanted to race as i past him ..Next thing i know he is behind me about 5 car lengths I go over train tracks that are on a slight hill (30ft) And i hear what sounds like a low flying aircraft Which is common as i am near the airport I look up quick And low and behold....My Roof window is dancing in the slot with the front of it in the air I go to grab it ...Floooooshh It go's skywards All i hear is brakes locking up And a smashing window into a million shiny cubes...I had so many things running in my head...do i go back? what do i do? ..Screw it ..Next traffic lights the guy in the mustang stays 200 feet back and in the other lane........I think to myself...........Bond......James Bond Im sure he thought i did it to get him And i had one more lol
Hilarious (& tragic) story. The thought of smashing one of those T tops makes a chill run up my spine.
@@NinjaRunningWild Back then you could get another one fairly cheap (82' And up) You needed one with keys for mine as some did not come with locks And a coat hanger could open one ....I ended up at a scrap yard $120 i think i paid back then Or $780 from a dealer Another story (Shorten) off duty cop at a bar was bragging about his 87 Iroc outside ..5.7L Lowered a inch ! lol And his buddy that was the salesman with him This thing will eat anything stock on the road ! Mustangs Trans-ams I smirked And he seen it Hey there...what do you drive? ..A trans am ...Oh? Yup Whats under the hood a 6.6L V8? ...Nope a six banger...HA ha ! and you smirk at the idea ? ---The sales guy go's out and sees the badging ...Hey gary come take alook at this...they both go out 8 mins..."nice car!" Thanks...ahhh you ever track it?...Ya 1/4 13.4....It was my first time..Salesman looks at him...see i told ya He was pretty quiet afterwards ...I did afterwards have it reprogrammed and tuned with a few mods And a final 1/4 12.5 I miss casper
I’ve always been a sucker for low-mid budget mini-series and made for tv movies from the 90s. “Dune”(2000) has been a go-to of mine for a while.
It pairs nicely with SyFy’s tendency during the 90s to run the V mini-series every summer.
They were closer to 300bhp but pontiac understated it purposely
Obviously you guy’s have never driven a classic muscle car! Common guys, you can’t be comparing this car to a modern one. It would be good idea for you to begin with the oldest cars and work you up, you will get better insight and appreciation and it would be not as much pain to listen to you two.
Thanks for the feedback!
Thanks for the feedback? Thats a nonsensical answer....call his bluff and review one right here and now fellas!
@@manual-motion TRY A SYCLONE
That’s an awesome idea! We know someone with an EVO X actually. We’ll inquire :)
Thanks for the suggestion!
Those cars came with left over Buick GNX engines
Excellent!!!! 👍
Watching him struggle to figure out how to use the key to start the car yikes
The Syclones an typhoons can't with the 4.3 turbo not the 3.8
I really wonder if there was something wrong with the car. An 89 Turbo TA isn't floaty with bad handling and brakes. I mean, it might be compared to a brand new Ferrari, but compared to a normal car they are pretty good if it's properly maintained.
There was the Typhoon also.
you guys are really right on...........i enjoyed your smiles as you drove my prom car.. yep.. wish i knew what i had....ive had every bird and i still feel neglected....
I'm a big muscle car guy, and the 3.8 V6 is a huge V6. Hahaha so the 4.3 is a monster V6 ???? You don't know what you are talking about.
To me the true triple threat would be
1) Yenko camaro
2) Baldwin Motion camaro phase3
3) Nickey Chevrolet camaro
MY GOD 2024 AND FOOTAGE THIS BAD? IS THIS A GOPRO 1?
Holy trinity…Syclone and Typhoon had a Chevy 4.3L V6. You are riding in the fastest Trans Am ever made you do realize that right? Coil near plug distributorless ignition and sequential fuel injection not modern at all is it. Vette sized 4 wheel disc brakes to haul it down from the 153 mph top speed. The f body was second behind vette in handling for US cars
🤩🤩🤩🤩
The 3.8 v6 is in no way a big motor
Big power !
There shouldn’t be any play or “middle vagueness” in the steering. I have an 89 GTA & the mechanic adjusted the “backlash” on it & there’s no play at all.
its called driving experience, one with car. no computer
Syclone is a 4.3 turbo not a 3.8
Why didn't they include the Typhoon.
Screw all of that exotic BS!!
Why didn't you actually floor the car to show it's potential! I own a GN!
ILL TAKE THEM THRU the streets of METRO manila at a high rate of speed and watch them scream like babies! and do this in a tiny 4 Cylinder Chevrolet with VVTI and no turbos and i promise you they will appreciate the WS-6 Suspension this TransAm has to offer!
BTW Metro Manila has ZERO OPEN passing lanes hahah!
It probably has steering issues that need correcting. They just don’t know it’s not supposed to be that way.
I think after they change their diapers and blow up a few engines / destroy a few cars and rebuild said engines and cars, then they can actually talks sense!@@NinjaRunningWild
It's a shame they offer more color choices outside and inside. Still nice though.
You guys are clueless. You have no idea what you are driving.
70-71 Monte Carlo.. not a Buick…. Big like a Buick though!!!😂😂😂
Senior year of HS... a white 1977 Trans Am, loaded with T Tops and a 400! and... and a brand new Honda CB750f cafe racer!
l'm sure these two have no clue how American Muscle often aided a young man's right of passage?... and... were often directly responsible for Generation X ‐ without whom, video game playing Millennials would never be here?? When's the last time a vid game did that?
It's a phoenix or firebird...not a screaming chicken.that is a stupid nickname.
It's an absolutely beautiful car! That said, the guy(Evan?) In the Red Shirt commentary was unacceptably rude, disrespectful, and condescending!
I have Pontiac Firebird SE from 1986 and know exactly how it feels to drive. It's nothing like he described.
I have no problem with the other host, but due the snide and overt display of ignorance of the Red Shirt. Two Thumbs Down!👎👎👎👎😠
Thanks for the feedback!
These guys have to be millennial, they are sooo lame.
Looked like a M.C.
240 HP my ass.
🤣
Itt was actually 350 plus fellas! common knowledge to REAL TTA and TTBuick fanatics, the low to mid 13s was no joke either!
They really need to stop giving the keys to cars like this to the wussy generation .
This guy's wants traction control 😅 that's a man's car not a kids just like the older muscle cars from the 60s They don't have the experience to drive these types of Machines because technology has spoiled them
These guys are jokes next time. Get some adults to do it.
Big car ? A 1977 T Bird is a big car, these cars are not big and they take corners like your on rails. You have never driven a big car obviously.
Wow guys a car that you have to drive without lane assist rear camera and radar cruise. I’ll take this all day long over the new crap they sell now.
make s me want to barf because i had one in possesssion. for about 4 . 7 days......... i
Typical GM garbage interior 😂😂😂😂
