I finally got to play Mage Knight after years of watching your videos. 3p Coop Conquest at a convention. Started at 9pm and we stopped after 3am, defeating only 2 cities of the 4. We would have won, but it would have been another hour or three. What a neat game, but sheesh it can drag. I can see why solo seems to be the most popular format. Thanks for sharing it again. PS> I loved the peasants in my play. The ones you said were boring. :)

Don't forget that with Mazes you could choose to do a Labyrinth and fight a dragon instead. Risky but far better rewards of course. I always choose the Labyrinth with max movement whenever I can. Something else I like to do for variety is to mix the core tiles up with the frontier tiles instead of just putting all the core tiles at the bottom of the pile. Makes for some interesting maps and gets elite units out sooner. One of the reasons why Mage Knight is so amazing is that you can do things like that with the game and it's just as valid as the normal rules. Much like using the deck building rules where you can pick some extra advanced action cards to add to your deck after every odd round.
@@MeetMeAtTheTableExactly. Unlike other board games Mage Knight lends itself to a few changes like that without it breaking or reducing the challenge. The unpredictable nature of it means that even getting better units sooner doesn't mean you will just steamroll thru things. There's no guarantee you could even get them after all. You can use a dice roll to randomly pick what tiles to use as well. A d20,d12 and d6 work really well. That way you really won't know what's coming up.
52:00 im very late to the party, but you could have asigned one of the attacks to your guardian golems. The rules state that a resistant unit may only block one attack without taking damage, for every instance of combat, meaning that you were free to use them to block again.

A question for you: would you happen to know of any online communities where I could clear out any questions I may come up with as I explore the game of Mage Knight? I know BGG exists, but I wouldn't mind knowing about other communities where to ask for help or guidance. If you are curious, my current question is: If you destroy a target enemy using the empowered effect of the whirlwind spell (tornado) during the attack phase, as stated on the spell's effect, do you still gain the fame associated with that unit as you remove it from the game? I couldn't find a conclusive answer on the rulebook, nor anywhere online.

@18:11, wouldn't the incinerate blow top half be enough for the attack, and the red die isn't needed? You would have ranged fire attack 4 and reduced armor from 5 to 4. Thank you for the Mage Knight video, I wish I could just dedicate a whole table to permanently have it set up. Love the custom tiles and character.
Love your Mage Knight videos! Looks like you placed the red city core tile along the coast, which isn't allowed for wedge maps. It's one of my least favorite rules. Great playthrough nonetheless!
That rule is just silly I don't know how you can even tell! Really only matters for competitive play to ensure you don't make it impossible for the other mages to get there!! Thanks so much for watching!!

56:23 You moved your character into the monastery before revealing the new tile so when the tile was revealed and that draconum spawned you would've been adjacent to it meaning you wold have provoked an attack from it when moving to the monastery.
@@MeetMeAtTheTableI mean that you generated movement, moved to the edge of the revealed map, used 2 movement to explore a new tile and before revealing the tile you moved your mini into the monastery because that was your plan. But if you hadn't preemptively moved your mini before revealing the new tile you would've been adjacent to the draconum.
Still fine because you only provoke an attack if you move FROM an adjacent space to another adjacent space to the rampaging enemy. I moved away so that works!

Cool that there is a new character but of course even after going on Esty as soon as you put this up it's sold out. Probably be hundreds of dollars now lol. Amazing that though that there is a new expansion. I'll watch Paul Grogan right after this. Is it coming out this year or not? I see they took some hints and made a campaign. Speaking of that you still have to finish The Betrayal campaign. Looking forward to seeing more.
You should message Dobromir! If it says it is sold out he will make more just let him know you are interested and you saw it on Meet me at the table! He will give you the 10% discount I think and will produce more of them. I am excited for the expansion (official!) but that won't be until Q1 2025, so likely Q2 to Q3 of next year. I am not sure on the Betrayal Campaign due to the different channels, haven't decided if I am starting over or just not doing. Jury is out on that one!
Ok thanks. I'll keep an eye on the expansion for sure. You should just start over on The Betrayal. Play someone different or change it up. It would still be cool and actually relevant now that they are breathing new life in it.
@@MeetMeAtTheTable Also Colin Dobtomir makes special wound cards you might want to try out. They are pretty cheap but add a lot of variety to the game. Sounds do different things when you mix them in with normal wound cards. Some good,most bad. Really expands the game.
Just started playing this game thanks to you. Beat a solo conquest with just one city the other day. Trying for a full conquest now! Do you highly suggest the expansions, or does base game scratch the itch just enough?
Oh this is great!!! I do think having the volkare expansion is really nice as you can have epic fights against him and it works great for solo. That is all you really need though to enjoy this game!!

I'm very curious about your impressions about Lazarus. Did you enjoy playing him, were all his skills were understandable and did you like his story? Also, why You isn't się on first dungeon (1day) a Rapid Assalaut with Concentration with green mana? You have then 5 Range attack so You use just two cards to defated Minotaur and dont need Block.

Hi colin awsome game as always :D I cant remember and might be wrong but doesnt iceblock work better against fire attacks? or its just when a hero play them that way reguarding your attack at the first castle since the castle guy had the ice shield. That said I am not as comfortable in this game as in Arkam so Its possible that i am in the wrong here. Thanks in advance.

This is great. Your playthrough on One Stop Coop helped me a lot when I started MK. I just finished lv.22 city two weeks ago an after this playthrough. I want to play it again.
That was my first lv22 city. TBH it has a lot to do with luck and I'm not confident that I can defeat it again. I was fortunate enough to have Banner of Fear, Mass Expose, Into the Heat and a few other power units in my arsenal and Sparring Power was left until last night.

I feel Megapolis can be beneficial in a certain situation as you might be able to explore the 2 cities next to your Keep/first city because one of them is on the edge of the tile.

For the soul gem you can gain that 2 times a turn, I certainly could have missed that as that is specific to this mage! If I take down a city I only can obtain 2 of them though, and I do believe I remembered doing that? I will make a note a 1:03:54 about the dragon!

I am of the opinion your use of the red and green indicators for units is backwards. If the unit is ready the red square would be covered thereby showing a green square. This is so at a glance you can see a "green = good". Additionally, in game design theory it is natural for something to begin in a left position and advance to the right for a majority of the world's population.
I was just going the post the exact same thing 🙂(but checked to see if someone posted it already ... as you did). Put the indicator on red, so green is showing. Is also consistent with what 'future Colin' showed about using the indicators that when removed show your current level.
I know I let you down! :( It's just so much to record even one! If I did this with 2 mages would likely take 3 times as long! One of these days (maybe when I am reitred?) that will happen!! thanks so much my friend for watching!! LOTR is next!!

I think that is only a fire attack 1 on top, I needed at least 3 damage to take down that token. Thanks so much for watching!!

Was chatting to Markus about Euthia being a "Mage Knight Lite" which isn't meant as a derogatory statement.
MK would melt my brain! lol
I should probably get the Star Trek version of MK to fill that niche and get Euthia as I don't really have an adventure game.

You moved your character into the monastery before revealing the new tile so when the tile was revealed and that draconum spawned you would've been adjacent to it meaning you wold have provoked an attack from it when moving to the monastery.
I'm not sure what you are saying? The draconum it's not by me at this point?
@@MeetMeAtTheTableI mean that you generated movement, moved to the edge of the revealed map, used 2 movement to explore a new tile and before revealing the tile you moved your mini into the monastery because that was your plan. But if you hadn't preemptively moved your mini before revealing the new tile you would've been adjacent to the draconum.
Still fine because you only provoke an attack if you move FROM an adjacent space to another adjacent space to the rampaging enemy. I moved away so that works!

Great to see you play this again Colin. Feels like years. Lol. I've been bugging you for awhile to get back into it. Cool that there is a new character but of course even after going on Esty as soon as you put this up it's sold out. Probably be hundreds of dollars now lol. Amazing that though that there is a new expansion. I'll watch Paul Grogan right after this. Is it coming out this year or not? I see they took some hints and made a campaign. Speaking of that you still have to finish The Betrayal campaign. Looking forward to seeing more.
You should message Dobromir! If it says it is sold out he will make more just let him know you are interested and you saw it on Meet me at the table! He will give you the 10% discount I think and will produce more of them. I am excited for the expansion (official!) but that won't be until Q1 2025, so likely Q2 to Q3 of next year. I am not sure on the Betrayal Campaign due to the different channels, haven't decided if I am starting over or just not doing. Jury is out on that one!
Ok thanks. I'll keep an eye on the expansion for sure. You should just start over on The Betrayal. Play someone different or change it up. It would still be cool and actually relevant now that they are breathing new life in it.
@@MeetMeAtTheTable Also Colin Dobtomir makes special wound cards you might want to try out. They are pretty cheap but add a lot of variety to the game. Sounds do different things when you mix them in with normal wound cards. Some good,most bad. Really expands the game.

Just started playing this game thanks to you. Beat a solo conquest with just one city the other day. Trying for a full conquest now!
Do you highly suggest the expansions, or does base game scratch the itch just enough?
Oh this is great!!! I do think having the volkare expansion is really nice as you can have epic fights against him and it works great for solo. That is all you really need though to enjoy this game!!

I'm very curious about your impressions about Lazarus. Did you enjoy playing him, were all his skills were understandable and did you like his story?
Also, why You isn't się on first dungeon (1day) a Rapid Assalaut with Concentration with green mana? You have then 5 Range attack so You use just two cards to defated Minotaur and dont need Block.

I cant remember and might be wrong but doesnt iceblock work better against fire attacks? or its just when a hero play them that way reguarding your attack at the first castle since the castle guy had the ice shield.
That said I am not as comfortable in this game as in Arkam so Its possible that i am in the wrong here. Thanks in advance.
So the first guy was an Ice attack, I used fireblock which is efficient against ice attacks. Does that make sense? Is that what you are talking about? Thank you so much for watching!!!

This is great. Your playthrough on One Stop Coop helped me a lot when I started MK. I just finished lv.22 city two weeks ago an after this playthrough. I want to play it again.

That was my first lv22 city. TBH it has a lot to do with luck and I'm not confident that I can defeat it again.
I was fortunate enough to have Banner of Fear, Mass Expose, Into the Heat and a few other power units in my arsenal and Sparring Power was left until last night.
Luck or no luck it's a feat! So dang cool! Did you do just a single city at lvl 22 or a megapolis?

It was Megapolis and I posted the log of city assault on Mage Knight FB group.
I feel Megapolis can be beneficial in a certain situation as you might be able to explore the 2 cities next to your Keep/first city because one of them is on the edge of the tile.

1.03.54 is when you killthe dragon and dont get a red mana token. Do you also get them for killing the city? (I've not watched it beyond that yet)

For the soul gem you can gain that 2 times a turn, I certainly could have missed that as that is specific to this mage! If I take down a city I only can obtain 2 of them though, and I do believe I remembered doing that? I will make a note a 1:03:54 about the dragon!

I am of the opinion your use of the red and green indicators for units is backwards. If the unit is ready the red square would be covered thereby showing a green square. This is so at a glance you can see a "green = good". Additionally, in game design theory it is natural for something to begin in a left position and advance to the right for a majority of the world's population.

I was just going the post the exact same thing 🙂(but checked to see if someone posted it already ... as you did). Put the indicator on red, so green is showing. Is also consistent with what 'future Colin' showed about using the indicators that when removed show your current level.
