These videos are pure gold. You should be payed by the creators of mage knight. These videos enable many people to play the game properly. You are really good at explaining and make people understand the different topics. I wish all the video tutorials were close to this quality
Watched the hole series in one go! Man, I have to say it's the best explanation series I ever watched. Such a nice and calm voice, very good animations and very clear instructions. Relly good job, so three times thumbs up!
Seriously I bought the mage night ultimate edition a couple years ago and still haven't played it because I couldn't find a good explanation but your series here really helped out and is a lot easier to learn with the way you presented it
Well, your bookshelf in the background is the answer to why it's hard to remember the rules. So it's definitely a YOU problem. But thanks for the tutorial!
31:00 this is a rules misconception by many players. In fact, Grouped enemies do Not share their resistances. Rather it is that attacks of that type are inefficient for the grouped enemies. This is an important distinction as it means that non-attack/non-block effects of cards of that resistance colour can still be used on the indiviual grouped enemies that do not have the resistance themselves on their enemy token. Great video, thanks!
I really appreaciate your camera movment and zooms. Also your voice is clear and the words you use leave no doubt about the mechanic your are explaning. I would be so happy if you would continue this Mage-Knight series :) - cause this is exactly what I was looking for!
This is one of, if not, the best explanation of the combat system in Mage Knight. Just bought the Ultimate Edition and despite I've watched about 6 hrs of game play on RUclips so far, your video just explains it best! Condensed and precise without any detours that distract from the topic. Thanks!
I totally agree. I am coming back to MK after quite a while and went straight for a ‘how to’ reminder about combat 😊. I’ve watched so many videos over the last few years on MK. This is really excellent and I would recommend this to any new players. Thanks very much for the effort you put into the making of this and into the script, Ronan
Great summary of the combat phase =) A tip I've seen on the threads on BGG to simplify the process for the taking direct damage to the player: For each unblocked attack, divide the total incoming damage by the current armor value, then round up. This gives you the number of wound cards to take into your hand. =) Cheers!
Wow! Such a great video for new and old players. These close ups and various examples are so great to see. A format I wish more tutorial videos would use. So thorough and easy to digest. Amazing job.
The absolute videos! Just got my MKUE and took me one day to read rules and watch videos. Just finished first round and going smoothly! Really thankd for your effort sir! Boardgames community owes you!

@@ModernTablegamer update: ive been addicted to mage knight and already ordered all expansions. The game is very complex and these videos were integral to get me to jump in and enjoy it without being bogged down by the rules

I'm new to the mage knight, just brought it a week ago and try to figure out how to play it. This series is the best MK tutorial I ever watched. Thank you for sharing with us! well done!
I have always struggled to understand why you would fight and take damage (unless you got surprised). I love the idea that I may choose to get hurt so I can take someone down. Thanks for your video! Brilliant!
@Tim Rourke it is an interesting mechanism to use in battle. One I find you have to use when up against and enemy with swift or with an attack you don’t have an efficient block against. Maybe thematically this could be la decision you make about just taking the wound or having your shield destroyed by a fire blast :)
The video was excellent. I have watched all three while waiting for my copy of mage knight to deliver. You do a great job of explaining the mechanics and I feel I can hit the ground running when I receive the game.
I have been using this series to help me on my first play through; honestly feel like I've had to study these rules longer than most of my courses in school!

I think I FINALLY understand this! Yeah! Thanks so much. I've only gotten to play Mage Knight once so far, but was completely mystified as to what I was looking at when it came to the enemies.

This is fantastic! I just got Mage Knight and took one look at the icons on the enemies and the rules for combat in the rulebook. I was almost ready to put the game back in the box haha. This is so informative.

Thanks much for making this series in such an easy to understand and digestible way!

Awesome series, tyvm. Great refresher after not playing for a while! And honestly I think I never used the rule for units with resistance propperly. I always just treated their resistnce as twice as much, and would apply wound even when the damage was below the resistance treshhold.
These 3 videos were really great. Well done and informative. I'm about to play this game for the first time very soon. This made me look forward to it even more (if that's possible..) Thank you!
At 33:56 when assigning the werewolf's damage you decided to take the remaining 3 damage on your hero taking a wound card, however, it seems to me you could've assigned that 3 damage for free against your Guardian Golems since they have physical resistance - was there any reason why you wouldn't just do that?
Thank you for taking the time to make these videos! I feel ready to play now, just a little fine tuning in the rules and i will be good to go. Very nice!
you sir are awesome, I`ll say it again.. u are awesome! Love this! Havent played in like 9 months but im gonna teach my girlfriend now and we are not gonna play anything else.. theese are our dubbel dejts now thanks to you! :D
At 13:25ish you say "Remember, you have to wound units first". While this is correct (you have to wound units BEFORE you wound the hero) it can be interpreted as though you MUST wound units (and do so first). Just to clarify, you don't HAVE TO wound any units at all if you want, you can also assign all damage to the hero.
At 27:37 you show unit Guardian Golems powered Fire Block 4 to block a 3 fire attack from a Fire Golem. You needed an blue mana instead to power the Ice Block 4 for an efficient block or to show an extra 2 block from somewhere else.
Great video! Watching it I realize that the block and the resistance it's quite confusing. In block we use opposite elements, but resistance is resistance of the same element. When I play a feel combat with elements was going strange. You helped me to find the problem. Thanks for the explanation full of good examples ❤.
Thanks for the feedback. Some nights editing was a bit crazy where I would go to bed dreaming of using the keyboard shortcuts for my editing software lol.

Love the video. For the last battle it would've been better to assign the 7 damage to both the Forresters and Golems. Let the Forresters take first 4 damage then the Guardian Golems take the remaining 3 damage with no wound.
Good point. Anyone who reads through these comments, heed this advice as a better option to absorb damage in the multiplayer example. Thanks for the feedback!
Fantastic video! My copy of MK is arriving tomorrow and I’m learning the game through yours and other great videos. Question at 34:00 why did you not use the Golems to block? If the Forester blocked 4 of 7 leaving 3, the Golems have physical resistance so they take zero wounds leaving zero for you. So the total wounds issued would have been 1. Is my strategy correct?
