CORRECTIONS: 17:30 - Clarification: Reputation modifiers only affect influence totals when you interact with locals, not necessarily every time you use influence. 57:07 - I could have used our 1 Siege Ice damage skill to defeat the Fire Golem without using Rage. The Fire Golem efficiently takes Ice damage, so only 1 is needed.
the greatest teacher meets the hardest game to teach. FINALLY! ive posted this tutorial in several discords already. love the way you explain games Jon.
Thank you for this. MK has been a favorite for a long time, and I always need some rules review before I play. And as a bonus, you give the back story, which I didn't realize even existed!
I see you've added most of the corrections I noted. One small thing with the new stuff: 57:10 There was no need to play the Rage card here. You have 1 Ice Siege attack from your skill which the golem is not resistant to. In this case, now that you have reduced it's armor to 1, that skill alone can defeat the golem without you needing to play any cards. Unlike what you say at 57:30 you don't need one more attack. It means you would have activated Planning for once... except you only have two cards in your deck so it still wouldn't have mattered😆. Great video as usual! Mage Knight is probably my favorite solo game (though Voidfall is currently giving it a run for its money in that regard) and the TTS mod is very, very good. I highly encourage it for anyone looking to give this game a try! There's a reason this game is the beloved of so many.
Ah, yeah you are right! I think I'll add a comment in the Klingon subtitles for this one. I didn't want to change the cardplay in this fix, so that I could maintain continuity with the rest of the video. Spoilers for anyone in the future seeing this, the video here is a second edition after a bunch of errors were corrected from the first version :P Thanks again for the detailed notes!
Great video as always! Thank you for helping expand the Mage Knight community! It is of course not complete (as it would take ages) and there are very little mistakes and missing rules, but I believe this will help tons of new players approach the game❤
Yeah, I intentionally glossed over the medium/hard intricate rules and situations with this video. WizKids wanted the video to be approachable, and if it was comprehensive it would have been two to three times as long!
I have played this game along with the Star Trek themed version many times. This game more than any other I have played would benefit from a digital version and I wish WizKids would have one created.
I’ve had this game collecting dust on my shelf for 2 years because I just couldn’t bring myself to learn the rules. I played it once, thought it had a ton of potential, but never played it again. Maybe I’ll try it again with this tutorial.
At 17:23 it’s explained how reputation affects influence. It’s important to note that the reputation modification only occurs when you interact with locals. It’s incorrect to say that reputation applies any time you use influence. For instance, there are some action cards that use influence outside of interaction. Those are not affected by the reputation track.
This, along with many other higher-complexity mechanics, was omitted for brevity in the video (despite the video still being quite long). My hope is that this video gets people interested in the game, and they can tackle the more intricate mechanics as they play deeper into the game.
I would say: "Learn difficulty" pretty high, but much lower after following Jon's playthrough 😜 "Difficulty to win game" pretty low. It is more a matter of "was it a marginal win, decisive or epic". You count your victory points (== reputation) and try to exceed 100, then you try to exceed 200. I got close to 300 once, but you have to get a decent amount of luck (the right cards at the right time) for such scores.

You are one of my favorite rules teach in the internet, Jon. You have taught me dozens of games through the years! Thank you so much for everything!
Thank you so much for the kind words :)
the greatest teacher meets the hardest game to teach. FINALLY!

Perfect description in one sentence! Love it. And of course, I totally agree.
Wow, you made me blush with this one. I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
Yes!!! Love Mage Knight, sorely needs updated youtube tutorials. Can't wait for new coop campaign expansion.
Which expansion are you talking about?
My first game Ever and a milestone none can even comparate with!!
Thank you for this. MK has been a favorite for a long time, and I always need some rules review before I play.

It's a pretty cool backstory! Glad you enjoyed this.
Thank for the showcase for this classic. I think we have so many good old games that are buried in the pile.
A classic masterpiece! Whenever I look for a new adventure game I always compare it to MK.
exactly! and stil unmatched, no matter how many "GOAT" games that appear on top bgg like gloohavem, mage knight is on a another level

I've watched so many tutorials for mage knight, im happy to have yours to reference now as well!
1,5 hour , alright im going for it! About time i started watching a playthrough / tutorial of this game.
Great video as always! Thank you for helping expand the Mage Knight community!

Wow, this is a pretty massive undertaking, good job
Brilliant! I need to pull this back out again.

Check out Paladin's Oath, it's essentially an adaptation of Mage Knight (albeit with different names and terms)
Again, great teach!

This just made my day....
More love for Mage Knight! Yes!
Nice video.

That's a great clarification, thank you. I've added a correction to the video and the corrections comment.
The madman has actually done it
Ha, I kinda feel the same way. This one was a big undertaking (including a detailed re-film to fix a big blunder that hopefully no one notices now).
It would be good to have an explanation for combat with multiple enemies at once.
This, along with many other higher-complexity mechanics, was omitted for brevity in the video (despite the video still being quite long). My hope is that this video gets people interested in the game, and they can tackle the more intricate mechanics as they play deeper into the game.
I hope we will see another sponsored video for the Apocalypse Dragon expansion!
I appreciate that, but I do think it's unlikely I'll make another Mage Knight video.
Hi Jon,
You sound sick, pls take care.
This was early 😂
Is this a game or a full-time job?
🤣
Rate Dificulty learn?
Rate dificulty win game?

Average to learn well (not overly difficult, nor particularly easy) - difficulty to win? who are you playing against? How long is a piece of string?
still confusing...
