Nobody does it better Jon! Always appreciate your videos. This is probably my 10th video about AE and this is by far the most clear and gives the best feeling of how to play. Keep up the great work. I wish you had a playthrough for every game, it’s always the first thing I look for lol
After watching this playthrough, I can safely say Andromeda's Edge is a far superior gaming experience to Dwellings of Eldervale. This game definitely goes onto my list. Thank you, Jon, for your awesome playthrough and content!
This is such a great playthrough. Clear, concise and entertaining. To be honest I've come to expect no less from Jon but this makes what could seem like a complicated game, very simple to understand. Superb job!
52:25 The klingon subtitle correctly clarifies that you lose points for each damaged module regardless of type, but other playthroughs I've seen and the draft rulebook say that it's only 1 point per module. (It's -2 points per damaged module at the end of the game.) Also, the klingon subtitle has an error: "So green should Blue should have lost..."
Great tutorial, as usual. You do a much better job explaining Andromeda's Edge then most of the other videos that give overviews, etc. on the game, since I rather see the game played and rules explained good in the same video to decide if it's a good game or not. I can't decide if a game is good if I'm hearing overviews saying "this game is a X improvement over this game" with the rules not explained and barely seeing things such as pieces being placed on the board through an example game or something. Anyway, if they release a 3rd game in the Dwellings and edge gameplay style by the same designers, I hope you'll cover that at the time. Maybe if Edge becomes popular enough, the designers might make either a sequel to the game or an expansion with more factions that's not in its current Kickstarter-type campaign.
Been watching your tuorials for a good while now; think the first one I watched was Maracaibo. The way you play really teaches the game well; thanks for all the work.
This was an incredible tutorial. I've watched two playthroughs (Quackalope channel), and still had quite a few questions about the nitty gritty. This video completely answered my questions. You have earned a sub from me good sir.
I really do not understand the appeal of Eldervale at all. I was hoping this next game would give me some clue, but, alas, the appeal is still eluding me. Oh, well, this is the beauty of different people, opinions and likes. Great video as always, cheers!
I enjoyed this tutorial. It is well paced and detailed. This is my first video I've seen from you. The audio was really low. I had to watch it at full volume to hear you. Hopefully that is an anomaly, or something you can fix in the future.
Great job Jon. Was hoping you would do a video on this game. I was on the fence with this game. You are still the best out there when it comes to actually letting the viewer see if the game is right or wrong for them. Keep up the good work.
Checked other content creators, did not get the feel how this game plays, the game flow. This is by far the best tutorial and playtrough video for Andromedas Edge 🎉😊
As the days are getting closer, I am rewatching all of the older content. It's been great having access to your how to play. I have watched once and listen without watching today. Thank you again and I will see you at the Edge! Backer #365 #ToTheEdge
Yeah. The official how to play went straight into the details without explaining the purpose of the game, how you win, or an overview of what you're trying to accomplish. It was really bad.
Hello, Error at 47:50 => Wrong location => Immediately reveal the top planet tile from the stack and place it in the next empty space on the board (in left-to-right, top-to-bottom order).
Dammit, Jon! Convinced me to back another game after I promised myself I wouldn't put myself through that any more. Going to start sending you my credit card bills. Great run through though. Played Dwellings and liked it but didn't love it, but this seems better and more interesting to me. Time to make room on the shelves again...
Fantastic tutorial! Clearly articulated, great camera work, great flow of digestible rules with content. If I could offer one supportive criticism for future videos, limit your use of “as you can see” filler; a minor, but frequent blemish that became distracting in an otherwise professional & thoughtful presentation.
Usually I prefer other channels for tutorials/playthroughs. Most of the time you are talking way too fast in comparison, which makes it hard to learn new rules… But this time you nailed it for me. This is honestly so far the best AE Tutorial out there! It made me back the deluxe edition „unfortunately“ (my poor bank account). ;) thanks! Will there be one for Scythe Expeditions too?
While I enjoyed Beyond the Sun, this game seems to put a greater focus on what was an afterthought in BtS (space travel/battles), while maintaining what was too much of the focus in BtS (research/upgrades). In the end, this appears to be the game I wanted Beyond the Sun to be.
That is a strange comparison, to me… This game is a re-theming of Dwellings of Eldervale - with connected progress tracks, in space. Another comparison which I would make, from a mechanical standpoint, is Gaia Project. It also similarly has the mechanism where you can continue advancing on the progress tracks and get stuff, which helps connect it to the rest of the game. Whereas, Beyond The Sun is a known as the tech tree game - you are going through them. But there are also other games with tech tree mechanisms - for example, although it is only a portion of the game - the journaling action in Wayfarers of the South Tigris is those kind of tech trees (from BtS).
@J.J. The Great I will admit that my boardgame playing is still in its infancy compared to some, and I've never played Dwellings of Eldervale. I looked into Dwellings after seeing similar comparisons as you make. It's likely I could play Andromeda's Edge and say "whoops, nevermind, this is nothing like BtS". From the playthrough, coupled with my limited games rolodex, I saw some parallels, even if they are distant ones. Appreciate the feedback and always love learning more about this hobby and community.
1:14:40 So one thing I'd say that I think is a possibility, is instead of having the ion storm raider strike you, go on the offensive and it can't trigger its effect or when entering the active region to damage ships. If you actively go to the region it's in I mean
What are your thoughts on combat? It seems pretty random between dice and tactical cards? Otherwise thanks again for explaining and showing, your channel is proper quality content!
I never actually played a full game of this vs other people, so I can't really give an informed opinion of how it feels when playing. Mechanically I thought the targeting system was quite interesting.
Hi there. Thanks for the video. Why does a battle not take place when players put a transport down on a planet next to another player? (Around minute 29 for reference)
I'm on the fence about this one. I just got Dwellings and it's great. AE looks like it's too much, and some repetitions from Dwellings. I guess if someone doesn't have Dwellings (which is impossible to find btw), AE is a great alternative. Otherwise, I'm not sure it's worth. It's just my POV anyway, the game looks nice and we can see Luke has put a lot of effort into this new game.
planed to pick up the game in essen this year. but it got stuck in the customs. i been waiting so long now. and finaly go the shipping tracking. seeing this video just makes me whana play to more.. great game. alot happening
This game is reminding me a lot of Dwellings of Eldervale, especially the combat mechanics and triggering special abilities when you collect workers. Is this a reskin?
Your tutorials are great and I'll definitely come back and watch this one, but I really wish you would turn up the audio of this. A lot of your videos are very quiet it's a little hard to hear.
I had the same thoughts as you, too. I hope Jon gets a new mic in the future since I always have to turn my volume on my computer higher just to hear him.
Good feedback, thanks. I haven't heard this from others, but they may just not be commenting. In my opinion its better to be slightly quiet vs slightly loud, I don't want to surprise anyone and hurt their ears. That being said, I've just bumped up the volume in my template, so hopefully it'll be slightly better in future videos. If they continue to be too loud then feel free to mention it again and I can keep slightly tweaking it.
@@GettingGames I'll keep an ear out for future videos and I'll let you know! I want to watch this one. Just need to do so when I have a quieter truck LOL.
Revisiting this video since I'm going to play it tonight. At 13:15, the green player gains the intelligence market module. It has a red icon in de corner, shouldn't it come into play with a damage counter? You only explain this at 46:50. You might want to add a Klingon subtitle that you explain this later? :D
Great tutorial as usual. Just curious on your thoughts comparing this to Dwellings of Eldervale. It seems very very similar just a space theme and a variable buildings. We live Dwellings, but kind of think this would just be too similar to own both.
Unfortunately I can't really speak to the comparison, I have never played a real game of Andromeda's Edge. I played as much as you see here, then packed it up and shipped it to another youtube channel.
Great video Jon! Do you think this game is for heavy gamers? I enjoy games like Gaia Project and Anachrony, and concerned this game may be not heavy enough. Thoughts?
I like the visual of this game, but some iconography should be changed (if it hasn't already since the video)... E.g. the titanium resource on the moon token. When you said "two titanium" I was like "dude, there are 4 on it".
Honestly what I need, to step up to becoming a Newb, is HOW to SET UP the game properly...Initially took too long just to figure out which are those "six orphaned moons"
Sorry I don't provide setup instructions in my tutorial videos. The goal with these videos is to get the viewer into a "playing the game" setting as soon as possible.

Thank you, Jon, for your awesome playthrough and content!
im all in. at least now i can see how its played lol. you're the best Jon!
Amazing overview Jon. You're the best at game plays. Period.
Thank you Jon! Very clear and well done!
I feel confident now about the basics of how AE works. Thank you so much for all your efforts. I am all in, backer 365 to the edge!🚀🚀🚀
This is such a great playthrough. Clear, concise and entertaining. To be honest I've come to expect no less from Jon but this makes what could seem like a complicated game, very simple to understand. Superb job!
Thanks for the kind words :)
Honestly, this channel is great, you give a fantastic description of how things work, I always click your videos first on KS campaigns.
Thanks for the kind words :)
Hi Jon. Thank You for a great tutorial. I wasn't sure if I should back this game. But now I am All In. :-) all the best from Germany.

(It's -2 points per damaged module at the end of the game.) Also, the klingon subtitle has an error: "So green should Blue should have lost..."
Yup, event effects are a -1 for damaged modules. The -2 comes into play for end-game scoring
Great tutorial, as usual. Jon you are the best boardgame teacher ever 👏🏻👏🏻 ! Your explanations are so clear and easy to understand.
Thank you ❤
Iconic. Just like as always
Great as always. Would like to watch the extended play through if there was any. "Blink blink" ;)
Just watched the official how to play and was left scratching my head. You absolutely nailed this, couldn't have been clearer 👍🏻
Completely agree. That guy did not even start by explaining the theme of the game and what you were trying to accomplish!
Yeah. The official how to play went straight into the details without explaining the purpose of the game, how you win, or an overview of what you're trying to accomplish. It was really bad.

Ah, good point!
This game is reminding me a lot of Dwellings of Eldervale, especially the combat mechanics and triggering special abilities when you collect workers. Is this a reskin?
This game is designed by the same person, there are certainly many similarities but there are also differences.
Amazing! and keen.
Thanks Jon. Amazing video. The game looks good but it’s too bad the planets are just copy paste jobs with different colors (blue, red, green etc).
Appreciate their coverage, Jon.

Hi, great video, as always. I just didn't get, if you can build more buildings on a single tile? Can an opponent build on such tile?

I believe that you have all the leaders upside down based on the symbols on the cards
As I immediately restart the video you flip them to place in the factories 😂 so nvm

23:49 The blue player? Looks like the green player, to me!
The blue player just built the factory. The green disc is stacked ontop of the blue disc, but he was explaining blue players turn and scoring.
Im finding the 'planet' artwork very distracting making it not easy to make out some of the iconography.
40 to 200 minutes is a big range 😂
