Great info Peter! I had a question tho, I own the Tamron 35-150 and have been looking into a longer lens for nighttime football games. Are there any more affordable options outside of the Sony you mentioned that you have experience with and are decent in low light? I’ve considered the Tamron 50-400/150-500
i love my F4 macro. i've even used it in the cockpit of an airplane and it was so much fun to use. also used the 100-400 at an air show and it was insane. i think i still like the 200-600 more for aviation though
I have the sony a6700 with the tamron 35-150mm (which is my first zoom 😅) and I love it!!! After 5+ years of photography, I also wanted to start videography so I needed a zoom lens and thanks to Peter Sarellas I discovered this one and it's a killer 🤧❤🔥 And also so sharp for photography 💯 Thank you Peter! And thank you for inspiring me into sport videography! I'm learning so much from you ❤🔥
CORRECTION: at 7:50 the friction adjustment feature on the 100-400mm lens applies to the zoom ring (not the focus ring). I showed the right thing and said the wrong thing - my bad 🤦♂ Hope you enjoy the video!
Honestly I can’t make that call for you since the right decision will vary from person to person. My advice is always rent and test the lenses first then make a decision from personal experience.
what were the major differences you noticed between the 70-200 macro 1 vs the newer version. and if you're on a budget, is the extra money spent worth it on the newer version?
@@newheights4782 close focusing, lighter, smaller, better AF (not significantly). Wouldn’t rush to upgrade unless you really want close focusing/macro but personally if I were buying one for the first time today I’d pay the extra few hundred bucks and get the macro to future proof myself and keep my bag lighter.
I personally like using the 100-400mm for 🏈 because you’re able to move up and down the field with the play so you don’t always need that extra long reach of 600mm but the 200-600mm for ⚽️ with a second body that has a 24-70mm type of lens on it since you’re stuck in one spot and not following the action
Always worth watching 💯
I've been using a Sony FZ 28-135mm and I love it.
LOVE that 70-200 f/4 Macro - picked it up soon after it came out and it's become one of my favorite lenses to shoot on!
That completely makes sense - it’s a beautiful lens!
Vouch for 35-150 , best lens I’ve ever owned , especially on my a7iv I pop it in apsc mode sometimes for that extra reach .
Fr might be the best lens I’ve ever owned too 😂
@@petersarellasI don’t use it for video tho , I use the tamron 20-40

That’s amazing!! I’m so happy that lens is working out well for you and the videos are helping 🙌

I have the older Sony 70-200 mm version for my FX6 and ZVE1 and it works great for filming sport 🎥
Yeah that lens still rocks!
Can confirm the tamron 35-150 is heavier than a Tesla cyber truck
Gonna go pick up a Cyber truck to test this out
Hey! do you think I should grab the sony 70-200 f4 (first edition) or a tamron 70-180 f2.8 g2?

Is the tamron 28-75 also good to take sports photos with ?
Yes definitely. Depends on the sport and the amount of reach that you need obviously but I have used it for sports before and find it very handy.
Hi. Any concern for exposure to the elements when using this lens outdoors (when zoomed out)?
Which lens are you referring to?
@@petersarellas 70-200mm
What can you say about sigma 50-150mm
or 70-200 f2.8 dg dn os sport?
Haven’t used them so not much to this point unfortunately
For filming football would you suggest 100-400 or 200-600 on a fx30?
