Personally, I love the 35mm look in both video and photo, so the 35mm 1.4 GM lives on my A7M4 while the 70-200 2.8 GM II lives on the A7R5. I may get some flack for this, but my 16-35 2.8 GM II lives on the FX30, but it still looks great with the APSC crop! I couldn't afford the FX3 but the FX30 is doing me very well! I just sold the 20mm G and Sigma 24-70 because the 50mm 1.2 GM have pretty much covers those ranges I need. I think I'll sell the 135mm 1.8 GM prime because the 70-200 GM II is just that awesome!!!
In the beginning I was buying a lot of lenses but now I have a better sense of what I like and what I shoot regularly, that was a big challenge for me.

Funny, I don’t shoot video yet I own all the Sony and Zeiss Batis lenses you own. Unfortunately I own even more since for me the fun I like in my stills shooting is the different looks I can achieve by adding in a lens like 35/1.4 GM or 40/2 for street and the 135/1.88 GM for portraits. This of course doesn’t count other lenses I own for landscape, wildlife, and birds in flight. Really enjoy your videos. Thank you and take care.

    Peter!
To be honest... 20mm or 24mm... or 16 or... It's not as important as the 'story' or the knowledge you share. Maybe lots of people look at your videos because it's you?
When I film, I also look a lot at my camera gear. It's because I want to make it good. The comments we get is never about how we film or about video quality. It's only about what we are sharing and that it's coming from our honest heart if you understand.
    Keep up your good work.

    What do you think about the 70 - 200 f4 G macro mk2 instead of the 90 mm f 2.8. I'd pair that with the 20 - 70 f4 g for travel and have a light and versatile kit that covers 20 - 200 range.

Great information, so thank you! I was pleased to know that of the four lenses I have now, three of them made your list: Sony 24mm f/1.4 GM; Sony 50mm f/1.2 GM, and the Zeiss 85mm f/1.8 Batis. The other lens I have is for event photography, not video, and is the Sony 24-70mm f/2.8 GM... so it serves its purpose well. Currently, I'm looking for the next video lens to purchase, and figured it would be in the 35mm range (prime), but surprisingly that focal length didn't make your cut. So, I will have to explore the 35mm elsewhere, but will check on the 16-35mm... but I'm a bit worried about the 2.8 max aperture for video. Would appreciate anyone's thoughts... I mainly video interviews and people talking (not at distance so I don't need a telephoto lens as a high priority).

Don’t mean to be negative, but these videos can be very misleading. You TOTALLY don’t need a G-master lens period. The gain in quality and performance is so small that the viewer won’t notice it. Punting these lenses only gives brands more reason to overcharge for them. They will also purposely limit certain functionality of 3rd party lenses which proves, it’s just business for them. Focus on the art.

Love the Zeiss 85mm, but my last one was decentered :(
Looking for a new one, but that is difficult.
Another great Lens is the Tamron 35-150mm F2-2.8
Had a Fashion Show where i needed the Complete Range of up to 225mm (Crop Mode)
And this Lens is an absolutly Workhorse :)

I've seen most of your gear videos, but this one is probably the most comprehensive one yet as it gives better insight in what you use it all for 🤘 The top four you chose at the end was very nice, although I wouldn't have taken the 85mm 1.8 as that look is pretty much covered by the 50mm 1.2 in crop mode. I'm purchasing the 85mm 1.4 GM II which is rumored to be released next week. I currently have the 24mm 1.4 GM and the 35mm 1.4 GM. I prefer the 24 over the 35 because of smoother rendering, and the 35 has an annoying weakness which is the focus breathing. It's not even completely eliminated with breathing compensation turned on. Glad to see you back and love the new studio.
I pretty much have the same lenses as you shared except the 70-200/2.8 v2. Waiting for it to go down or getting the f4.0.
What do you use for personal travels. I find myself using 16-35/4 (since the 16-35/2.8 v2 took forever to release) for the wide end and the 24-105/4 for the tele end.
The 14/1.8 wasn’t used much but lately when I use the ZVE-1 and dynamic stabilization, I get 18. So for primes, I use 14/1.8, 24/1.4, 50/1.2, and waiting on the update to the 85 and 135.
Since you like the 16-35/2.8 so much, are you planning to add the v2?

Would a 24mm Sony GM 1.4 give me the same colors as the 35mm Sony GM 1.4, 50mm Sony GM 1.4, 85mm Sony GM 1.4 and the 24-70mm Sony GM II lens? @@PeterLindgren1 It is lighter than to carry a 35mm, 50mm, and 85mm and 70-200m with and you never have to swap lenses. I think a 16-35 for vlogging (or 16-28mm or 20-40mm there are several wide angle zooms out there) and the Tamron 35-150mm f/2.0-2.8 is the way to go. I owned all those lenses you talked about, and I sold them all, because they were just resting in my bag for years. I do a lot of fashion / portrait / lifestyle. The 35-150mm is by far the most powerful Lens I ever used. And with the new Lightroom feature it is very easy to make it look like f/1.4 or f/1.2. Primes are not need anymore for photography. For video a very fast F-stop is not as much as import as for photos to get a "professional look" - I think you should give the Tamron 35-150mm a chance and make a review about it. Cheers
