This is a great video. I love it when big name RUclipsrs interview each other. I also appreciate the fact that Gerald is a data and information genius. He gives content creator enthusiasts the information that they need to choose their product but his videos aren’t so much about content creation. Unlike you who review products in practice in real world. I feel you two are two different types of reviewers and together you would be a complete perfect source of information.
What you see on camera is just as if not more important than the camera body itself. It’s nice we live in an age of being able to make almost any camera work so long as you have the right set design for it!
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Come on now, Tom wasn't looking to be insulted in your comments section 🤣 And hey, Tom, great videos man! Lots of quality info in those
Hoped Gerald would've ended with "okaybyebye" 😄 Casual, goofy (Mark posing himself in the monitor while Gerald was talking 😆) and highly enjoyable! 😀 I'd like to see more Blue and Purple studios colabs in the future please. This made my day. 👍
Hey Mark, I usually enjoy joking around when I'm on your channel, but today I want to set that aside and be serious. I'm genuinely impressed with how you pulled that off with him. I imagine you must have been nervous managing the entire video-balancing the right information, being funny, staying relaxed, and keeping the video from running too long. Coordinating everything like that is no small feat, yet you made it look effortless. Not only did you maintain a great mix of humor, relaxation, and information, but you were also capturing some of the footage yourself. Really well done, Mark. Truly impressive. Or maybe it just took you guys ten or more takes to get it right 😂 Again: You did really well!
Great session with Gerald. I'm big fan of you both! I agree with the recommendations. We have a couple of A74s, an FX3, 2 FX30s, and my two "webcams" are a A6000 and a "Little Dougy" with a Sigma 16mm f1.4. I don't regret moving on from Canon when I realized I would be doing at least as much video work as stills.
Two of my fave’s. Fun to see Gerald’s studio from someone’s else’s point of view. A true Canadian dream team. Speaking of which your stop at Tims reminded me how much I miss their coffee and donuts since leaving Metro Detroit. Go Wings.
If I was starting again with a small budget I think I would still get the old timer ZV-E10 maybe get a used one and the Sigma 18-50. I just got the Sony 18-105 OSS power zoom and I was using that on the E10 and was surprised how good it is in good light. I got it to train other people to use the E10 but I think It will appear on my a6700 from time to time.
Great job on the video folks! Thanks for making it. It appears that you two genuinely enjoy each other's company. That makes my heart happy. All my favorite camera RUclipsrs (sounds like a potato) are Canadian, so I like to imagine you all getting together for apple juice from time to time.
Nicely done, and if you both had black shirts you would have almost been twins! I thought Gerald’s suggestion of the s5ii was even better in that you get open gate, great stab and you can get it for $2150 including a 20-60mm kit and a 50mm 1.8, but it is heavy…not an issue if mostly in studio. A7iv is about $2500 body only. And of course as Canadians we (you, me and Gerald) like to forget the current exchange rate AND the extra 2% Visa adds on for it if you use your credit card 😢. A6700 (or ZvE10ii) and sigma 16 a good, less expensive option for most. Enjoyed! And thanks for Zed!
In my experience, the best budget lights are those cheaper ones off Amazon with a nice big softbox - that gives you beautiful soft lightning. The cheaper LED panels generally don't come with softboxes, and because they panels are rather small, the lighting can look harsh. I still have a couple of old cheap lights that run off four E27 bulbs each, and even using one of them makes you look great :)
I like the Vlog style shooting at the beginning of this. You should do more like that “mark in the wild” or something. What about the zv1ii that’s a great right out the box no lens needed
Dang, these 2 legends are the only ones I follow for gear tech. If I want to get a serious and heavy content, I'll go the Gerald's channel, but if I just spent a hell in my work, Mark Bennet is the guy I'm coming too cheers
Great collaboration! You both are fresh and handsome and giving great advice! Thank you Mark. If not for you I would not be rocking my zv e10 right now!
@@goodgremlinmedia2757I've used it too, but honestly, no AF is a pain in the neck. Definitely wouldn't get a non-AF camera these days. If you're doing used and talking head, might as well go for the A6400 and call it a day I think :)
In all honesty, for your stationary cam you don't need an expensive cam. A6600, ZV-E10, even a ZV-1 will do and put that money into lighting and equipment like lenses, batteries, chargers, gimbals. Heck, save money for trips so you can see things and visit people you want to interview
Yes, if you only ever film in a studio, 8bit is probably fine. If you need something more versatile, definitely 10bit. A used Fuji X-T3 is like 700 bucks and I‘d rank it‘s image quality above any 8bit Sony.
