The screen is what makes thr Lego a win for me. Wish there was some type of middle ground. 120 vrr 8 inch screen, ally x battery, non removable controllers and a kickstand would be perfect to me.

I personally would enjoy a more slimline Lego as well. Portrait based 8 inch screen. I'm in the hardly ever use fps mode camp. Unfortunately the rumours/leaks from Legion Go and it's next model are going to be more of a lite version than a proper iteration.

@@WinDeckTech Yeah I have the Legion Go as well and its screen is nice and all, but in retrospect I would have definitely preferred a 16:9 format and VRR. VRR is a HUGE factor in such a device and even at high framtes the Legion Go never truly feels smooth. Even at 60+ frames its choppy. Especially for someone like me, who has a VRR QD-OLED and is used to the buttery smooth motion it delivers. VRR is not just helpful for lower framerates. Thats the big misconception.

Great video for getting to see some gameplay and benchmarks with the uperfect monitor. Thanks for sharing this one! I enjoy using my Lenovo Legion Go on my separate display.

FPS mode ftw. If only I could figure out a control scheme that works across the board haha.
Embarrassing amount of time was spent getting the CP FPS footage because I couldn't get out of my car lol.

@@WinDeckTech not sure if this is intentionally setup by you to say, but are you aware of my Ultimate FPS Mode segment on my channel? My latest video was on Cyberpunk 2077 and a recommended control layout to use with the game in using FPS mode on the Lenovo Legion Go. I mention one of your videos as well to recommend to users to side load the needed graphics driver so to use the gaming handheld with the One X Player eGPU.

@Gaming_for_insight oh I am indeed ;) haha I just rarely ever use fps mode and hate messing my controls across cloud saves haha

I'm guessing its the faster 7500mhz memory in the Legion that gives it the edge? Great video btw.

Yes, I was kinda surprised to be honest just due to the lack of gpu driver updates over time compared to what has been released asus side.
Should see similar performance gains on the ROG Ally X imo. Performance increase will be mainly from the speed increase with the benefit of having no need to toggle your vram depending on if it benefits from more than 5/6gb or not.
Also thanks for* the kind words :)
      Edit: sp

@@WinDeckTech of course buddy. Also, the VRR on the Rog doesn't help it feel smoother than the Legion? Or does it both feel the exact same to you? People promote VRR like it's a game changer but if it doesn't make a difference then it's not a strong selling point.

@@BeyondEllisBeckit does makes a diff i have the ally and it super smooth with vrr on.

@BeyondEllisBeck sorry for the late response. Yes VRR with LFC (Low framerate compensation) are pretty big game changers mainly when playing games trhougg the 30-45 ish fps. Animation quality is smoother and less jarring when dips happen.
It is not the end all be all, but a great nice to have.

@@WinDeckTech Yeah. The Z1 Extreme is bandwidth limited at the higher TDPs.. Thats the only reason why the Legion Go is a bit faster than the Ally. Its 7500 MT RAM vs the 6400 MT of the Ally. The Ally X should be faster than the Legion Go for sure. Since Asus optimization is simply better and with the better cooling and bigger battery, the Ally X will for sure be thw fastest handheld PC. At least until Strix Point low TDP APUs come next year.

I like EGPU because using as a dock to plug-in directly to external graphic card directly to the Lenovo Legion go because it’s better because you can plug-in somewhere to your handheld and get more performance that’s why I like Thunderbolt because
    It’s better

Absolutely, was just playing palworld with my wife, hooked up to my onexgpu on the couch with her. Definitely awesome to utilize the 1600p 144 screen fully. Obviously there's a perf degradation when using the the built in display but it's still enjoyable to me.

in the legion go you will be playing at 800p or 1200p when in the ally you will be playing at 720 or 1080p...in the end they will have the same performance. Had a legion go but not having a full body chassis does not feels ok..

      900p on the ally too

Unless using a monitor as shown. This was just more so a cool comparison and a direct 1:1 of pure performance. Yes the Ally will be natively rendering a lower resolution but that still doesn't mean in certain titles the Lego isn't more powerful. Just thought it was a cool video idea instead of the usual native screen comparisons done :)

Not even competition the ally has vrr. Its far bettet. Doesn't have to push as high of a resolution. Vrr is absolutely noticable in comparison.

It’s all about what you want to do. The Go has better battery life, faster memory, a kickstand, and removable controllers. Also for older folks the larger screen on the Go is a win.

    • @WinDeckTech
      @WinDeckTech  2 месяца назад

Exactly. To each their own. vrr is objectively better, but it is not the end all be all. Hope it does become standard in the future but like you said faster ram, kickstand (huge imo) and the screen are major wins
