  • What watts work best on each device? In this video we're testing the performance of the Legion Go vs the Rog Ally in 14 games at 12, 15, 20 & 30 watts as well as 720p and 1080p resolution. The Legion Go seems better when it comes to higher watts and the Ally seems better at lower watts as of the making of this video.

      @@matthewgould9391 Hey, I found Performance for the "Thermal Mode" and Efficiency for the "OS Power Mode" works well can gives you 20 watts. Then if it's a less demanding game, 1200p looks a lot better than 800p. I found 800p is looking a bit blurry on my device in a lot of games. The latest AMD Driver are working well for me, and it's what I run on the Ally as well. I have a tutorial here if you're interested: ruclips.net/video/lT7NdZRMQe4/видео.html.

For your question about RSR, you'll want to make sure you're running 900p on the desktop as well as in-game. If it's not set to 900p in game, you'll have to change it to 900p then restart the game. Let me know if that works :)

    You are way too underrated dude. I’m tryna decide between them both because it looks like the ally has better performance, VRR, and speakers. For what i’ve seen from the Legion Go is that it has better battery life, a case, detachable controllers with one having a sort of mouse and also a trackpad, and a better screen with a kickstand. Since you have both, which would you consider better?

    Excellent detailed benchmarks. One question, on the go were these performed in 800p or 720p, just double checking. If it was 800p then those neck and neck tests technically the go would be slightly ahead. And it hasn’t been optimized yet so I’m really pulling for the Go

    • @filt3rless
      @filt3rless  7 месяцев назад +1

      They are both at 720p. Realistically when in hand the Go would be running 800p so that would drop the FPS slightly. I'd say they'll be pretty close after Lenovo optimizes it when comparing 800p vs 720p.

      I am planning on doing an 800p, 1200p and 1600p test in the future :). A more fair comparison would be the Legion Go at 800p and the Ally at 720p. Mainly because everyone who uses the Legion is going to do 16:10 like you said, so 800p+. And anyone who uses the ally will use 16:9 or at least 720p+. The main issue right now is no custom resolutions on the Legion. Since 900p is a nice mix, it'd be nice to have something between 800p and 1200p on the Legion.

      @@filt3rless Yeah exactly. Most of these comparisons are useless for end user as they’re either going to use 720p/900p/1080p on the ally and 800p/1200p/1600p (mainly for indies) on legion go. So, I reckon 720p vs 800p and 1080p vs 1200p is more representative for the end user as legion go decided to go with 16:10 aspect ratio.
      I look forward to your future coverage. Keep up the great work. Happy gaming :)

    What was the operating system power mode set to in legion go? I own both devices and I get better performance on the legion go with the efficiency setting.

    • @filt3rless
      @filt3rless  7 месяцев назад

      They were both set to Best Performance. I'll look into efficiency. My guess is it's something with CPU Boost (which is also enabled on both). CPU Boost is something that can net you decent stability and small gains in some games as well as much improved battery life. Efficiency helps put that under control.

      They're both running into the same external monitor for recording. Realistically everyone with the Go will use 800p which will give slightly less FPS than the 720p resolution shown here. I'm planning on doing an 800p, 1200p and 1600p comparison for the Go soon, so stay tuned :)

    Thanks for your awesome work!! This is the only source like this practical benchmark comparison. Here it looks like Legion Go left a bit back than Rog Ally ? But why? aren't the using the same Processors and GPU? moreover, Legion Go has a bit faster RAM. so Legion Go is supposed to be a bit faster. Can anyone explain why this so? Thanks

    • @filt3rless
      @filt3rless  7 месяцев назад

      Asus has had a lot of time to optimize the device. And the 323 bios they released a few months ago really improved performance in the lower watt range. The Legion Go should be slightly faster because of the faster RAM. However, everyone will be using 800p on the Go and 720p on the Ally. Or 1200p on the Go vs 1080p on the Ally.
      So the slightly increased resolution the Legion is pushing with it's 16:10 display should balance things out once Lenovo optimizes it, where they will be pretty close.

    I mean I really don’t know what people expect with almost identical specs you get almost identical performance.

    • @20mat
      @20mat 5 месяцев назад

      If you had any kind of working brain cells in that cranium of yours, you'd know that identical specs do not always mean identical performance, and there are MANY factors and variables that contribute to performance more than just the chips being used.
      How about, the cooling being used? Affecting performance via thermal throttling which could make all the difference in HANDHELD devices like these?
      Differences in software and bios configurations that could lead to instability and crashing that wouldn't be reflected on benchmarks because you couldn't start the benchmarks to begin with?
      There's also power consumption and power limits that are placed by the individual manufacturer that can differ between each of them and lead to different power ceilings, because one manufacturer could put a cap on how much power you can squeeze out of a chip in their system when overclocking or changing power limits, like how laptop manufacturers could have the same exact CPU in their systems but one tops out at a lower TDP than the other.
      Should I continue or do you understand now?
