i looooooooove my LEGO, i took it on a trip last week and had a blast playing. went over to a friends house and was able to comfortably play Overwatch, then at home enjoyed some FO4
Ha thanks! Glad you liked the review. It's interesting but ever since buying the Legion Go... I find myself picking it up more than my Ally. I'll be grabbing my Ally X today though so I'm curious to see if I'll start using that more but I kinda doubt it. Love that bright, vibrant panel on the Legion Go.
@@KeiRetroGaming Wow thank you so much for such an honest review and feedback. I was wondering same thing and you have just answered it for me :D I do really appreciate it! I saw some video where Ally X has somehow muted audio and it sounds worse than Ally. So not only that you have just earned a new subscriber, but I wonder if you post video after you will use it for some time.
Good for you man! 🤗👍 I was All in on the Legion too but I got less money than anticipated so I settled for the 256 gb original steam deck, as I was impatient, to go with my switch Oled. Down the road later this year I may save up for the legion go to complete my BIG 3 handheld devices…..maybe but Glad you enjoying that Beast of a Legion! 🫡😤💪 Game on!
Great, very thorough video! I love this in particular due to the sheer flexibility of the controllers, such as turning the screen to portrait mode and playing vertical shooters or not needing to carry extra controllers with me when plugging into a TV when traveling (the two USB ports also help with turning it into a portable console of sorts!). It seems I got unlucky with my LenoGo, as mine makes a pretty nasty coil whine even at low fan speeds. I've just been tolerating it for months since I love the device in every other way, but seeing this video and some others saying they have no issues with the fan noise, I think I will try to see if I can get the fan and/or backplate replaced through warranty.
Coil whine can also diminish over time so I hope that's the case for ya. It probably gets louder the more wattage you put into it. As someone that hates coil whine in general on desktop parts, I totally understand hating that sound.
Very good and in depth review, I had my Legion since launch and never looked back from my LCD Steam Deck. Legion is without a doubt the better upgrade then the other handhelds by far, when you can play the bigger gaming titles with no problem on a massively 8.8 display that looks awesome, this is a no brainer. I cannot go back to a 7inch display
I gotta agree, it's incredible. Even having the Ally X now... I kinda miss the display on my Legion Go when I take the Ally X with me. I'm still 50/50 between the two devices but both are amazing in their own way. I think if I had to pick right now though, I might pick the legion go solely based on its bright vibrant display.
You can upgrade it Memory and ram it has so much way you can use it as everything you can make it into a desktop you get add on to make it more power gpu and a Graphic card hand held a desk top pc and an laptop use the Controller as upward Mouse or for shooting game you can use your favorite controller also the other don't have an mouse I do enjoy play it controller part from now and then I think it's the best on the market 2 place oled steam deck I think the x an Improvement.but it could been alot better im not worried about the battery life bc Portable charger. Good video
@@mahmoudalqadoumi1824 the screen really does matter, have a switch and I have played on a rog ally, I struggle reading huds, subs or generally noticing things sometimes, the extra real estate is wonderful.
It's only worth it if you don't already have a handheld PC, if you have a Deck or Ally I'd wait for the next generation or two even, since they release new models every 6-12 months. But, the Go is the best on the market right now.
I got an Ally 4 months ago, around 2 years after I got my Steam Deck, and it was worth it for the performance. I’d definitely be interested in a Legion Go 3 if it still had the mouse pad and the removable controllers with even better performance.
X86 handhelds like the Ally and Legion Go are a great way to get into PC gaming. If you don't mind the larger size I think you'll be very happy with the Legion Go. I believe bestbuy has them on sale right now too.
I use a coach sling bag for my legion go . I take the controllers off and place them in the large area with a folding Bluetooth mouse/keyboard , 20k mah baseus power bank , and slide the legion into the large zip up pocket . And I have a 65w car adapter plugged into the cigarette lighter.
I just want to mention that I had some wobble in one of my controllers. Lenovo sent me replacement metal rails and it fixed it completely. Even though they are metal, some of issues from the factory and they are aware.
LeGo is currently the best handheld. Along with Ally, it has one of the best mobile chips you can get right now. LeGo simply has the best display of all handhelds, over 8 inches (massive), 1600p resolution, and 144Hz, just amazing and personally the main reason for my purchase. Thanks to Windows, all Windows handhelds have the best desktop mode. The Rog Ally has a unique advantage when it comes to the display, called VRR, which is basically a game-changer. The speakers are also great, and the custom ASUS game interface is more than sufficient for launching games. Very handy. Both LeGo and Ally come with Windows, so you have access to all games directly without emulation and without issues. Xbox Game Pass also works, of course, because it's Windows. The Deck has a big advantage for me personally, which is the menu navigation of STEAM OS. It's brilliant, and Microsoft should take note of it if they release a GUI update for handhelds. But that's it for the advantages. Apart from the OLED version (superb picture), it's just 900p and 90Hz. Furthermore, many games don't work on the Deck, and even STEAM VERIFIED doesn't mean that the games work from start to finish without issues. Crashes are also not uncommon. In comparison, STEAM BIG PICTURE on Windows handhelds is simply more stable and generally better. There's no native Xbox Game Pass on STEAM OS, some launchers and their games cause problems, and certain multiplayer games with specific anti-cheat software are also not playable on STEAM OS. So, for me, STEAM OS simply has no future. You are limited and have to give up many games and services. Again, for those with a Windows handheld who use STEAM often, just use Big Picture for the overview, and you're good to go.
The LeGo's 8.8 inch 1600p144hz screen is great. The Ally's VRR is great. But neither is OLED. I have an OLED Deck and a LeGo, and I gotta say the Deck's OLED + HDR is a gamechanger. for image quality. The Deck's variable refresh isn't quite as good as VRR but it's better than the 144hs of the LeGo which is overkill unless you only play old or indie games. Overall, I think the OLED Deck edges out the LeGo's screen but the best traits of each screen in one would be perfection. The upcoming MSI Claw 8 ai+ looks like it could be that with an 8-inch 1080p120hz IPS VRR display. I just hope the new APU is up to snuff.
Well, you are limited when it comes to online multiplayer and some AAA games, but the user experience on a handheld with Windows is horrible. Absolutely horrible. As long as this doesn't change the Steam Deck has a huge advantage.
Just so you know. The Legion Go's that are produced from April 2024 and onward are better than the launch models. They fixed a lot of things. The fans. The background layout. A new improved docking mechanism.
No device with Windows on it is close to perfect as long as Microsoft doesn't want it. And no device with SteamOS on it is perfect as long as AAA companies don't want it. Means: for anything but AAA the Steam Deck is perfect.
Lmao nowhere near perfect, try playing a demanding game, you gonna have to find the right resolution to play at most likely will be 800p. Frame gen doesn't work so you have to buy a program from Steam to get that feature, wobbly controllers, battery life bucks. Its just very inconsistent when it comes to gaming. Now perfection is the Ally X. I don't need a 9 inch screen to game on the go, plus 1080p is the sweet spot for the z1extreme.
SIMPLE FIX FOR JOYSTICKS: I had skull and co grips from my steam deck, which I sold after the Go, and threw them on. Lovely fit, excellent feel, makes joysticks feel 10/10.
I feel like the second version of this device is going to be perfect. Right now it's still just shy of that. Battery life needs to be increased by about 20% ... Downward firing speakers. That's basically my only gripes with the legion go currently.
@@normodbI don't know why so many people hate on the ally in general. It's way more powerful than a steam deck, customer service and updates have been great, and it's currently the same price as a steam deck original model
I think it is not Hate towards the "Rog Ally", in my opinion it is a disagreement with Asus' customer service, in general for all their products with the warranty issue, it is a scandal how companies like Lenovo surpass Asus in that aspect, but as I say it is my opinion, The Ally is not a bad product.
@@fernandoalonsomamanirozan5082 yeah I don't really trust nexus gamer or whatever his channel is. RUclipsrs get way too much credit for no reason at all. It only takes one big name out of millions of satisfied customers to ruin something..
Honestly just seeing like valve is paying these youtubera off to write opinion hit pieces. There is no reason such a weak product should be outselling its better competition. Barely any support for the ally, but ask any no name customer, and they will tell you how much better the current ally is compared to the deck
Great review! But one thing that keeps me away is only 16GB of RAM. I acutally had Legion GO for a few days but the more demanding games and Windows itself took all the RAM aviable. Games were stuttering just because of RAM. How are you suppoused to manage that? Every review I saw they were running on the edge of its capabilities. Ally X has 24GB which will be enough for sure. I would rather have Legion GO but...
Try running 800p and using amd integrated scaling full panel display Radeon image sharpening for a more crisp look performance os and custom 30w tdp using 6gb vram for big AAA games I'm running Cyberpunk 2077 at 50-60 fps no lag or stutters cod mw3 runs at 140+ fps I've had no problem playing any game with 16g ram . The 24 on ally x will be better bc it's not throttling the system as much but won't be a big difference in performance
i dont think thats an issue with ram, im pretty sure no game currently uses more than 16, and my windows 10 gaming pc has 16gb aswell and has 0 issues with ram
@@ezioassassain don't know how you do that but you have only 16GB of memory for operating system, VRAM and game itself. Ally X solved the problem with 24GB of memory
I tried a ROG Ally and a Steamdeck and the Legion Go spanks both the Ally and Steamdeck it every way except for legion space software sucks i don't use it at all ither than that Legion Go is way way better than the Ally and Steamdeck absolutely live having a Windows pc everywhere i go it's AMAZING 😍
Looks like you got an older model. Newer models the case it comes in is different. Mine had no fan noise, but read also a newer model than yours. I also had the controller wobble on the right controller and didn't want to do the tape fix. Three models later (replaced under warranty) I finally got one that had no wobble at all..
@@KeiRetroGaming I'm actually not too demanding about the FPS and graphics since I have a RTX 4090 PC and both of these handhelds will be far off from what I'm used to so I don't expect much. So at the end of the day, I'm only looking for an easy to use and stable handheld for when I'm at the airport and on the flight! Battery life doesn't really matter because I will usually have a power outlet within reach :) I like Go's windows because it will be compatible with all my non-Steam games too, and modding will be possible. But on the other hand, Steam OS just sounds very convenient and probably more stable from a software perspective as well because it's more mature?
The Steam Deck OLED is a good device either way. I think if you bought the Deck you'd be happy, and if you bought the Legion Go you'd probably be happy with it too. Being a PC gamer as well you'd probably feel right at home on either.
@@KeiRetroGaming haha yeah hopefully. Since they are both the same price (my Best Buy has a big sale for the Legion Go), think I will go with it instead of the SD OLED, sounds like Go is better value for the same price to me even if the Deck does somethings better.
@@unrealsimon93 I tried both the Steam Deck models but also sold them in the end. The flexibility of windows is nice to have. I think you'll have a lot of fun with it. Ha a sale is how they caught me too! They only had one left for $100 off so naturally I had to get it, no regrets.
Initially, I wanted to buy this because it fits the bill for me. I can take off the controller & turn it into a working pc. However, after knowing about the size & weight, I back out & chose steam deck instead
@@Airthugger My steam deck is on windows lol. I'd never touch any product from Asus, given their sh*tty after sales service (at least in my country) & the fact that Ally had melted my friend's two micro sd (from his experience of owning Ally)
Legion Go seemed great when i first got it but after the honeymoon period I realized how inconsistent it was. You have to constantly tinker with the resolution to get certain games to play, lack of Frame gen and having to use lossless scaling is also another flaw. The portrait orientation just causes certain features to not be compatible with the Go. It almost feels like a prototype, it's so laggy with certain games and you'll rarely use the 1600p native res unless you playing a very old game or indie game. Just isn't worth 70p bucks at all, the screen is nice but that's about it, plus it's mad uncomfortable to hold after while. The corners dig in to your hands and my hands start to fall asleep after extended periods of gaming.
Thats why i need the ally x. U loved legion go screen size but i cant use the full resolution the games will run bad. Plus no vrr. Less ram. Worse battery. The ally x has a SMALL ASS SCREEN. But it feels alot better to hold. Tomorrow im gonna buy the rog ally x but i really want legion go 2, to be a huge upgrade
I'm a bit torn between the two. SD OLED is less appealing as though the battery and screen look nice, its performance SEEMS less than ideal for the games I play. Could I get some of your input for my concerns to help me decide a bit better? My biggest considerations are the screen, battery, and ofc price. Screen concerns: Without the frame gen, do you think the vrr is a big game changer between the two? For the Ally, do some games really seem unreadable? Battery concerns: For context, battery is a pretty important aspect to me. I will be carrying a large powerbank, and the places I plan to game on these devices mostly have outlets, so both of their batteries seem fine to me. They do have similar battery life, but the Go as you said give just that little bit more to reduce the battery anxiety. But, for real world experience I'm not sure if this a huge gap. Would you say the slight battery boost on the Go feels somewhat significant? Additionally, do you have any input for travelling with the Go vs the Ally? I'll be purchasing the tomtoc travel bag with either, so storage space won't be a problm I think but is the Go's chonkiness a concern compared to the Ally? Lastly, price. The Go costs considerable more than the Ally in my country (~$170 more converted). Well, actually, they are priced similarly, but I can find lots of clearance sales/2nd hand listings for the Ally, and close to none for the Go. Budget is pretty important, so would the Go's features warrant the extra cost? Would get the X but then that costs way more than the 2 lol
I dont know why but Legion Go's kick stand i use it to compensate with the weight, i extend it all the way back while playing handheld and rest it on the bed or sofa or anything under or also pillow, that way i can play on handheld mode while not having the weight on my arms or hands, but on the kickstand itself. i cant do that with my rog ally, because if i do that then the screen will be too small and away from my face, which the Legion Go's screen fits perfectly.
I had a legion go for a few months but sold it for a steam deck oled. I had horrible controller wobble while it was attached and it was quite big and heavy to hold. I also found myself plugged into a wall more than I would like which didn’t make me feel as portable. Steam deck oled solved most of those problems for me ( if u don’t mind the decreased performance) and I’ve actually been playing a lot more games now 😁
Yeah it's not a perfect device for everyone. If the power of the Steam Deck OLED is enough for you, the battery is a nice improvement. Glad you found what works best for you. Which games do you like playing on there the most?
I wish I could officially preorder the steam deck where I live. I don’t think I can justify buying a steam deck in a country where it isn’t officially supported
I stopped watching when he said the cheap plastic on the rog ally felt better...its literally becoming a meme 🤦 i own both devices and the buikd quality if the legion go is 4× better
👍👍really appreciate the video! -but, Right now I'm feeling like this this thing is terrible. you can't lay on your back and use it, it's not possible, which was half the reason I got it, I have large hands and I cant reach the x or y button without almost it slipping off of my right palm resting point (WHICH IS A SHARP HEAVY POINT STABBING INTO MY CARPEL TUNNEL!) I have to readjust my grip often, which inquires squeezing 3 buttons on either grip to adjust the other hand, buttons I have mapped! I'm throwing grenades and crap so hot, so heavy, just not nice to hold, zero ergonomics going on... if you rest it on your stomach your staring down your torso in a bad postural position the vibration makes loud "ooooh" flute sound. each time I'm holding it with one hand I feel the weight levering on the attachments, loosening them so bad it gives me anxiety, the anxiety adds up after 30 minutes and I don't want to touch the thing any more, not to mention your sneezing buttons which adds to the stress. don't think I'd have any of these issues with the Ally the menus keep glitching out too, I could go on, but I spare it
The Mini HS earbuds are available with a coupon right now. Don't know if they have any big downsides to the pros but for the price, they might be worth a try. They also seem to support LDAC just like the Pros: amzn.to/3KfROYX
Do you think the legion go is still better than the ally x? I love bigger screen for sure. But the legion is kinda uncomfortable. I love the look of the legion and its solid. But the ally x has more ram and vrr. So my question is , is there any games the ally x can run where the legion cant
In general they play the same games but I find games ever so slightly smoother on the ROG Ally X thanks to the VRR. That would be my choice if I had to pick between the two. But that being said I still love the Legion Go as it feels like the perfect solution to a more portable laptop. The Ally X still can't come close to the panel quality on this either since it's far more vibrant overall.
i gotta tell you, once you've experience the 8.4 or 8.8in screen you will never want to play on anything else smalller, asus needs to increase their screen size to a minimum 8.4in
Just returned mine and went back to the ally. I wanted to love this with all my heart. the over all size made me not take it with me so whats the point. The speaker was worse than a bad cheap phone speaker. worse than laptop speakers. Just the worse cheapest speaker ever made this device is my benchmark for a 1 on sound. The lack of dock mode and subsequently having to manually hack in a dock mode was kind of fun but the constant issues with heat made me realize I simply can't get comparable performance. The legiongo software feels more like abondonware. I found myself never playing and constantly tinkering. Controller lag was immediately apparent then went away some how. I HATE BEZELS!!!! nail in the coffin, It killed my 512gig sd card. like the card no longer works all my data is gone. The card slot never worked no matter how many hours of tinkering. So I am waiting for my ally X that supports 2280 full size nvme drives.
Hi does this the Legion go support bypass charging? Specifically, I’m asking if I can set it to charge up to 80%, so that while it’s plugged in, it remains at 80% and runs on AC power rather than using the battery. I’m finding conflicting information online-some sources say it doesn’t support bypass charging, while others claim it does.
It has an option to charge up to 80% in legion space, and I'm pretty sure this is bypass charging. It should only use USB power when it hits that point at 80%.
Hmm, that's a good question! I don't have my Ally X yet, but I find myself picking up the Legion Go more often than the Z1E Ally I currently have, mostly due to the panel itself. It's far more vibrant, and I really like the screen size. If I had to recommend one, I'd say grab the Legion if you want a bigger screen and don't mind treating it like a single sitting device. If battery life is a must, go with the Ally X. That being said, the battery isn't bad at all on the Legion Go. VRR is nice, but I don't miss it nearly as much as I thought I would. Ha guess that doesn't help does it? 😅
@KeiRetroGaming it is very hard to decide as I really like the screen on Legion Go. I have pre-ordered the X but thinking to cancel my order and go with the Legion instead. I would be playing AAA games probably 98% of the time. Like Horizon Forbidden West, RDR2, GTA, Spider-man etc. I'm worried about the Legion Go lagging.
It all depends on your expectations for the handheld. I sold the Steam Deck and Steam Deck OLED because they couldn't maintain 60fps in many AAA titles. Even with 4-8GB VRAM, the Rog Ally and Legion Go are very capable of handling big AAA titles. In fact, I've played the following games absolutely fine on both devices: - Ghost of Tsushima (absolutely incredible on the Legion Go panel) - Resident Evil 4 - Horizon Forbidden West - Lies of P - Remnant 2 - Armored Core: Fires of Rubicon - Starfield - A Plague Tale: Requiem And many more! The only games I've had issues with are Returnal, due to a VRAM leak issue in the game itself, and Dragon's Dogma 2 (which runs at 20-30fps on my desktop 3080 in cities regardless). You can also use Lossless scaling or driver level frame generation to fill the gap on games that run at 45fps, that'll make them feel much smoother overall. I only use frame generation on one or two games and it doesn't bother me when I use it. The Legion Go runs games incredibly well, and even 720p medium looks great on the panel in many titles. I personally think the Legion Go is a bit more special because little features like the kickstand and detachable controllers have been incredible for my day-to-day commutes. Heck, if I don't feel like playing a game on my lunch break, I can set up the Legion as a media device, remove the controllers and catch up on a few series while relaxing in a café. The Legion Go has been absolutely incredible. I think if I had to pick one, I'd probably choose the Legion Go, but I'll be picking up my Ally X on the 21st. Sorry for the long reply but I know how stressful it can be picking a new device so hopefully that helped a bit.
My recommended settings are shown just before comparing the display to the Legion Go. I don't have a standalone video for that unfortunately, but might be something worth covering as the panel is pretty desaturated by default.
@@SwissOliver Definitely! If you watched the review and find yourself interested, I think you'll have lots of fun with it. I believe it's also on sale right now too for 579 on amazon.com. Just think of it as a really portable gaming pc.
Just checked today for you. 48 FPS in 1280x720p @ 20w custom profile in high settings on the game. Looks and runs great 👍. If you enable frame generation though it still feels very responsive and brings it up to 75-90fps (limit the FPS on legion space to 40-45 since that's where the FPS is stable at, then it'll double it. Both options are great ways to play the game. The big screen is nice for Elden Ring as well.
One of the thing that baffled me is the sound quality and the broad sound stage of the Rog Ally... can someone please explain a little bit about how the sound compares between the two devices?
If you want a bigger screen and more power for AAA games, try the legion go. As mentioned in the review though, just remember it's a pc first and foremost. It takes a second to enter and exit hibernate but I still find it a nice upgrade over the oled deck I had.
@@KeiRetroGaming I totally get that it’s a pc first. It’s no different than my gaming rig. I may try it out. I’ve never tried a windows handheld before
As someone who had an LGO and a Steam Deck OLED at one time, I much preferred the OLED. More ergonomic, better battery life, better software. The LGO is great if you're looking for a laptop replacement and you don't care about comfort or being plugged into an outlet at all times, or having glitches with software. For the price point of the LGO, all of those issues should have been ironed out.
I've never had any issues with my Legion Go. Even with the ROG Ally X, I'm kinda finding myself leaning towards the Legion. The screen is just so much more vibrant and bright compared to both the ally models. As long as you use Vsync or limit your FPS below 144, you should be fine. Most games don't run over 144 anyways so you're fine either way. Great handheld all round.
@@KeiRetroGamingi got a Z1 base rog ally I’m pretty satisfied with I can still return it but was thinking long term I think the bigger screen will be better. What do u think😊
Yeah I kinda like a bigger screen too and the one on the legion go is just fantastic in comparison. The Z1 extreme is also a good chunk faster than the regular Z1. I don't think you'll be disappointed with the Legion Go.
@@KeiRetroGaming ok I’m gonna buy it and return the ally or test them both. The SD card issues is also worrying plus they did a price drop on the legion GO so perfect timing. Appreciate it.
Why use an antivirus if your just using it for gaming? Windows has a built in defender. Plus it's already a heavy resource hog with services in the background.
can i easily connect usb controllers on the go? I love fighting games and I have a joystick and a fighting gamepad, both which are connected via ISB, are there issues having the go connected to the power and also have usb connected controllers? your comments on RE4 made me worry that the rog ally is vastly superior, but I really dig the screen size. so, im kinda at a loss. comments from anyone on this? thanks guy
@@dgevert I've been toying around with it for the past 3 days and I haven't tried connecting a controller yet. Its been a fun experience. So far, great acquisition. I've put thousands of roms, from Atari to ps2 for old school, while I have steam, Xbox gamepass, xcloud and remote play for new school. It's like the ultimate game device. (I'm still setting up games) This the reason I haven't tried connecting controllers.
Been staying out of town for the better part of two months, and picked a LeGo up so I could game in my spare time in the room, and at the hospital. Absolutely love it so far. Just make sure to update to the latest drivers, and the latest version of amd software adrenaline edition, which actually works quite nicely in tweaking game settings for increased quality/performance. Been messing with lossless scaling, but amd’s software I feel is more intuitive, and does the job just fine. Just wish I could slap another ssd in it, as I don’t want to dual boot with bazzite on the same drive, and upgrade the ram to 32 gigs. If the next generation of this thing allows for some upgradeability, and windows makes a portable OS that allows for a more console like experience, and gives it that pick up and go playability like the steam deck? They’ll kill the handheld game.
@@KeiRetroGaming Same! Played through it when I still owned a PS4, and never touched the dlc, so I’m doing a second play through on the LeGo. Running 1200p, high settings, and averaging 45 fps. This thing’s a monster for a portable!
Doesn't it look stunning on that panel? So nice. That's where the thumbnail is from actually. If you lock the FPS to 40 then and turn on frame generation in the options it'll bump it over to about 65-80fps. So smooth.
With lossless scaling + fsr, rivatuner fps limiter, amd rsr the Legion go is a beast. Of course Windows needs a little debloating and cleaning up. The joysticks are a perfect fit they lock in tight
Why didn't he just stop the review at the 4 1/2 min mark because all he did was complain about the thing. He hadn't even turned it on. This is painfull to watch.
My rog ally dead yesterday charging port melted completely no service centrer available I need to wait for year for vacation so I can go back to my country and fix the damn shit
You'll tinker more than game on the Legion Go, the Ally just works way better with the AMD features such as FSR and Frame gen. Have to do way too much to get stable fps kn the Legion Go. Its why I decided to try out the Ally and it's a huge difference, it just works better as a system, better software and more ergonomic. Everybody swear they can't go back to a smaller screen but as a kid I had Gameboy and psp and these screens today are a luxury, 7 inches is more than enough for on the go gaming. 8.8 you might as well tote an IPad around lol.
Returned my LeGo for a ROG ally. Great handheld but the software and driver support isn't good. You will almost always get better performance with it compared to the Ally
Yeah Asus has been working hard to get the drivers updated regularly on the Ally. I've had so many for it since I bought it a year ago... No updates for the month I've had the Legion ha ha.
It's very stable as is so I think it's totally fine. I just hope they'll add in Frame Generation eventually like the Ally has. Sounds like it's coming soon either way though. Still very happy with my purchase.
If you're playing AAA games id highly suggest anything with the Z1 Extreme like the Legion Go over the Steam Deck. I sold both my Steam Decks due to the lack of power. They really struggled with modern AAA games.
The Z1E on the Ally/Ally X and Legion Go is built for efficiency and the new Acer is using the same iGPU either way. No real benefit in my opinion. I think you'd be happy with any Z1E device.
Wow 16 min before you turned it on🤔 everything you're talking about is completely useless cuz you don't even mention specs You're measuring buttons with a caliper who does that?
The reason the buttons layout is so pushed up because they are trying to fit the useless TouchPad on that thing taking up spaces. TouchPad belongs only to a laptop not a handheld device.
@GrimAbstract TouchPad but have a touch screen lol literally don't need the touch pad at all. Just an excuse at this point to down talk other handhelds that don't have it.
Highly doubt they are directly distributing their product in SEA. Most likely, it's thru a 3rd party distributor and who marks up the price. I mean, most countries in SEA are corrupt as hell. It don't surprise me.

So not only that you have just earned a new subscriber, but I wonder if you post video after you will use it for some time.
I got mine last Saturday and I have been thoroughly impressed by this and haven’t used my Deck since

@@knowledgeseeker4116 appreciate it!
Your what tho? Ally or Legion Go? 😂
I’m going to wait for the GO2 to release to see the improvements over this model.
When is the release date?
It's not anytime soon, they said it themselves
You'll be waiting for awhile longer
@KeiRetroGaming Agreed, that's what sold me from the jump. The only thing is I wish I knew how to put a 4tb ssd in the Legion
@@ADMONIUS I'm waiting for a decent 3-in-1 like minisform v3 or OXP

X86 handhelds like the Ally and Legion Go are a great way to get into PC gaming. If you don't mind the larger size I think you'll be very happy with the Legion Go. I believe bestbuy has them on sale right now too.
I use a coach sling bag for my legion go . I take the controllers off and place them in the large area with a folding Bluetooth mouse/keyboard , 20k mah baseus power bank , and slide the legion into the large zip up pocket . And I have a 65w car adapter plugged into the cigarette lighter.
Why?
@@plaistowjames6792 why what lol ?
I just want to mention that I had some wobble in one of my controllers. Lenovo sent me replacement metal rails and it fixed it completely. Even though they are metal, some of issues from the factory and they are aware.
Good to know, that's what they ended up sending me as well. Maybe I'll swap the rail on my left controller and see how that goes.
A new improved docking mechanism.
who can I figure out the production date?
@@SwissOliver x2. Waiting to see this also
This is the best choice on the market right now...its so close to perfect
Yup, as close to perfect as you can get right now
SIMPLE FIX FOR JOYSTICKS: I had skull and co grips from my steam deck, which I sold after the Go, and threw them on. Lovely fit, excellent feel, makes joysticks feel 10/10.
Great video my guy, so detailed! ❤
I love my Legion Go, fantastic screen and immersive, I can use it as a tablet, laptop, etc. I’m in love!

What a thorough and detailed review, thank you very much! Still so torn between this and the SD OLED though LOL.
What's the upper end of graphically demanding games are you hoping to play on it? Aiming for 30, 40-45 or 60 FPS?
@@KeiRetroGaming I'm actually not too demanding about the FPS and graphics since I have a RTX 4090 PC and both of these handhelds will be far off from what I'm used to so I don't expect much. So at the end of the day, I'm only looking for an easy to use and stable handheld for when I'm at the airport and on the flight! Battery life doesn't really matter because I will usually have a power outlet within reach :)
I like Go's windows because it will be compatible with all my non-Steam games too, and modding will be possible.

I've done this a few times too, really nice added bonus from having the kickstand.
The legion go 8.8in screen is still better than the steam deck oled screen for gaming in your opinion?
@@KeiRetroGaming dragons dogma 2, I use GeForce Now so I get like 60 fps, if my WiFi doesn’t act up lol

Great video, please do a more in depth comparison between Ally with fps on different games!
I stopped watching when he said the cheap plastic on the rog ally felt better...its literally becoming a meme 🤦 i own both devices and the buikd quality if the legion go is 4× better
100x when you factor in rog melting parts
And what's the point of the legion go screen if you can play for 1 hour at most, it basically loses the point of being called portable
Good job on the video
Appreciate it! This one was a lot of work to put together.
👍👍really appreciate the video! -but,
Right now I'm feeling like this this thing is terrible. you can't lay on your back and use it, it's not possible, which was half the reason I got it, I have large hands and I cant reach the x or y button without almost it slipping off of my right palm resting point (WHICH IS A SHARP HEAVY POINT STABBING INTO MY CARPEL TUNNEL!) I have to readjust my grip often, which inquires squeezing 3 buttons on either grip to adjust the other hand, buttons I have mapped! I'm throwing grenades and crap
so hot, so heavy, just not nice to hold, zero ergonomics going on... if you rest it on your stomach your staring down your torso in a bad postural position
the vibration makes loud "ooooh" flute sound.
each time I'm holding it with one hand I feel the weight levering on the attachments, loosening them so bad it gives me anxiety, the anxiety adds up after 30 minutes and I don't want to touch the thing any more, not to mention your sneezing buttons which adds to the stress.
don't think I'd have any of these issues with the Ally
the menus keep glitching out too, I could go on, but I spare it

@@SwissOliver Looks way better than ally 720p
I have to agree. The big screen is just an absolute treat for gaming.
@KeiRetroGaming if you can only get one, Ally X or Legion Go, what would you get? Would be playing mostly AAA games.
In fact, I've played the following games absolutely fine on both devices:
- Ghost of Tsushima (absolutely incredible on the Legion Go panel)
- Resident Evil 4
- Horizon Forbidden West
- Lies of P
- Remnant 2
- Armored Core: Fires of Rubicon
- Starfield
- A Plague Tale: Requiem
And many more!
Loving it
You should try using integer scaling bro you’ll get much higher frames and the picture id argue is clearer
I'll give it a try, thanks!
The best Le Go review ever, thanks!
Do you have a settings video or guide for the rog Ally's display?
My recommended settings are shown just before comparing the display to the Legion Go. I don't have a standalone video for that unfortunately, but might be something worth covering as the panel is pretty desaturated by default.

The legion go can't compete audio wise with the Ally. It's useable but the Ally just sounds much more rich and bassy in comparison.

Im stuck between getting the rog ally and the lenovo legeon go? Is screen taring an issue on the lenovo due to the lack of vrr?
I've never had any issues with my Legion Go. Even with the ROG Ally X, I'm kinda finding myself leaning towards the Legion. The screen is just so much more vibrant and bright compared to both the ally models. As long as you use Vsync or limit your FPS below 144, you should be fine. Most games don't run over 144 anyways so you're fine either way. Great handheld all round.

your comments on RE4 made me worry that the rog ally is vastly superior, but I really dig the screen size. so, im kinda at a loss. comments from anyone on this? thanks guy
It's a Windows PC. It should work fine.
(I'm still setting up games)
This the reason I haven't tried connecting controllers.
Dude really said, "Let's optimize your Legion Go." And proceeded to install Avast of all things😂😂
Credibility is now in question
Great to hear you like the device so far. What's your favourite game to play on it? Mines been Ghost of Tsushima.
So smooth.
what a good review ! thanks !
With lossless scaling + fsr, rivatuner fps limiter, amd rsr the Legion go is a beast. Of course Windows needs a little debloating and cleaning up. The joysticks are a perfect fit they lock in tight
Definitely! Lossless scaling is incredible so far. 2.0 update sure helped a lot.
Whenever I think that wow this is a big beautiful screen on the legion go I just hold up the one x player to it and then I'm like damn😂
Why didn't he just stop the review at the 4 1/2 min mark because all he did was complain about the thing. He hadn't even turned it on. This is painfull to watch.
I got £600 legion insted of £450 brand new ally😅
My rog ally dead yesterday charging port melted completely no service centrer available I need to wait for year for vacation so I can go back to my country and fix the damn shit
Mine did the same thing.
I use a magnetic connector now so not to be plugging and unplugging in the only port it has
I had same problem, I think that quality of Ally is not good enough
You gotta do all that just to play it?
Ive only played consoles and am thinking about getting a handheld bur it seems its turned into mini pc's. Wild
8.8 you might as well tote an IPad around lol.
laugh when people mention finger prints on a handheld with a touchscreen... they will ALL have fingerprints.
So what’s the verdict
It's very stable as is so I think it's totally fine. I just hope they'll add in Frame Generation eventually like the Ally has. Sounds like it's coming soon either way though. Still very happy with my purchase.
yea the stutter is really worth buy it, ah lenovo is cinese so enjoy guys
I'm torn between a steam deck and the Legion
If you're playing AAA games id highly suggest anything with the Z1 Extreme like the Legion Go over the Steam Deck. I sold both my Steam Decks due to the lack of power. They really struggled with modern AAA games.
Thanks! I'm also curious about that new Acer console coming out!
The Z1E on the Ally/Ally X and Legion Go is built for efficiency and the new Acer is using the same iGPU either way. No real benefit in my opinion. I think you'd be happy with any Z1E device.
@@KeiRetroGaming Hey thanks! I bet Dell/Alienware will come out with one, too. For now, I'm gonna save up for a Legion, I like the bigger screen
Wow 16 min before you turned it on🤔 everything you're talking about is completely useless cuz you don't even mention specs You're measuring buttons with a caliper who does that?
We get it, so you are just an “Ally” fan boy… 🙄
2:33 you do have small girly hands though 😅
Asus rog ally damage every SD card and they just ignore you 😂
The reason the buttons layout is so pushed up because they are trying to fit the useless TouchPad on that thing taking up spaces. TouchPad belongs only to a laptop not a handheld device.
Nah, it’s needed. Keep your lame ideas to yourself 😂
Talk about a bad take....the real problem is that it doesn't have the second track pad... maybe in the successor
@GrimAbstract TouchPad but have a touch screen lol literally don't need the touch pad at all. Just an excuse at this point to down talk other handhelds that don't have it.
Little late to the game!
….are you actually serious? People DAILY are buying the Go. He didn’t have it when it was brand new obviously. Use your common sense!
to bad ASUS has been nothing but 100% scummy
Why
Lenovo is a dishonest company in SEA. They charge 1153 Cad for the go over here even though the thing is made in China which is closeby.
Highly doubt they are directly distributing their product in SEA. Most likely, it's thru a 3rd party distributor and who marks up the price.
I mean, most countries in SEA are corrupt as hell. It don't surprise me.
Tax probably and weak currency
