I managed to get Overwatch 2 working for me by adding the .exe to Armoury Crate and opening through AC then selecting the gamepad output option. Also I switch to 'Gamepad' mode via the Command Center. Full controller support then works.
Thanks for this video. I'm considering an Ally and it's useful to get such rich information on how it handles a range of games.
Appreciate the hard work you put into making this kind of video. I've played FPS games all my life and hate using a controller. I've improved since I got my SD, at least for single-player games.

Nice dude. Def a lot of work. I got my Ally last night after watching dozens of videos and I love it so far. I've only tested 4 games so far and they run great. This helped me to see how some of my other games would run. I'm coming from a desktop with a 3080 so I can be a bit spoiled by performance and visuals being that I can play up to 4K ultra, but surprisingly the experience of playing games at lower res and performance is still enjoyable on this thing.
These are my exact thoughts. Same case.

Nice, they did a good job with this, certainly better than their gaming laptops pffft. I have a SD and have no problems running any games, just needs more tweaking to get them right. Also I like the basic library, I play Halo, AC, among others on my PS5 and Series X. I'm not a big handheld gaming fan, it gives me a headache honestly. I bought my 4K Sony to game on, which I can definitely see much better. I just use the SD to play casual old games mostly. But I do play RE4 Remake on it, just because I can, and it's very good. But this is good for the hardcore handhelders. I'm 47, I've been PC gaming since I was 10 on a Commodore 64 (1985). So yeah I'm burnt out. lol. Great video.
I hear you on the controllers.. I don't even attempt to play multiplayer FPS games with a controller. I can hold my own with a M/K however.

I dont like the sticks travel either. It starts out not very sensitive and then it blows up, full speed. Luckily you can change the sticks deadzone and I have made it so much better to use. tinker with it under the armoury crate app. I used my Xbox series X controller as a sample to match.

I played it around launch in a 2080ti and 9900k at 1440p ultra settings. Was around 30-50 fps if I remember right.

Just keep in mind this is on Turbo. There's also a bug in Armory crate not reporting Turbo on some charger. You can tell because when you first start a game the watts will jump to 44 -54W

For dock to work you need to buy a power adaptor that is at least 100w. The 45 watt one that comes with it doesn't account for the power draw the of the dock itself or the usb devices being powered by said dock. Also make sure you have updated fully in my asus and the armory crate to ensure you are updated enough to allow for docked mode to allow 30 watt power mode.
Great video! I like the wide range of games you chose! Just added context with the ROG ally for people on the fence, it’s not possible when you are doing as many games as this video is showing, but you can customize settings in game/AMD software to get even more FPS out of a lot of these titles. I get a solid 60 FPS on D4 with tweaked amd settings and in game some low, some med, and some even high. AC Odyssey getting 60-70 frames with mostly med settings. You can do 720p and then upscale it, and it looks completely fine with this size screen, and adds about 10+ fps on many titles. Also if you ever have a game that isn’t registering controller, try manually switching to controller mode in the ally side overlay, I found that works many times. I bought the Ally thinking I’d likely return it, but I’ve been impressed with it so it’s not going anywhere. It’s pretty amazing having a smooth playable experience on huge AAA titles in the palm of your hand.

@@il.mister screen at 120hz with freesync, though it’s rare to get the 120 on demanding games, you can get solid 60 though on most titles. Older games/less demanding games you will get 120.
For the docks not working, it’s as simple as using a different charger most times.
i think, 30 to 40fps is enough, so i would crank up the details a little.

Are you sure Overwatch was set to Gamepad mode and not desktop mode? It's acting like desktop mode like when clicking A to open chat. A is the enter key.
8:50 fingerprint magnet like you said but did you have a screen protector on it? I usually clean my switches screen once i'm done with it so the print's aren't there every time.
1 day to set and update everything,i was so feustrated that i was thinking to return it until i finished,windows 11 doesn't fit on a handeld consolle but Rog Ally is amazing

Hi, Great work on this video, Just wondering if you shot a video for the World of Warship game running on Rog Ally because it's not working on my Rog Ally, I tried all settings I can't use the mouse and keyboard because my jobs require lots of air travel, so please if you can play that game on ally without using any accessories that would really appreciated, thank you

Good video but you should probably lower the resolution on many of those games. Most of the current games were well below 60fps into the 30s and 40s in busy scenes.

just got my rog ally 3days ago n just started install the ubisoft launcher.while downloading got error notifications and have to auto restart.after the restart the BIOS UTILITY-Ez mode got into the screen.cannot save and exit..the setting keep come back on screen..anyone ever have same problem?

@@releaseradarYT i would be interest to see this test also, as when i downloaded crysis 3 and battlefield 4, they ran fine, but i couldn't get any controls to register apart from the thumb sticks, so all i could do was walk/look around, same with division 2 and deadspace, yet other games work perfectly fine.
What settings and res? Also, is 40hz 40fps still smooth like the steam deck?
How is starfield on that device & how is the refresh rate when connecting to a tv?
This or the steam deck been wanting to get into pc games and i think i would enjoy starting on one of these systems before i do a big pc jump

It played fine with the built in controller on my Steam deck, but for some reason it doesn’t recognize the controller on my Ally. Any tips are greatly appreciated.

I had to take time installing and uninstalling games to test out all 20, so no. However, I’ve added the 512gb micro SD card from my steam deck to my ally, so I’ve got about 1TB of space in total now.

rdrd2 i set monitor to 60 hz then half refresh vsync so 30 fps and its the smoothest i've felt
I was hoping to see someone play sea of thieves on one of these out there.
btw camera quality is actually pretty good wouldn't have thought u were recording on a phone
so basically a lower end midrange gaming laptop performance.......40-60 on super intensive games..........upto 120 on less demanding ones....good

I finally found someone that cares about graphics more than FPS. Can I ask you please if the graphic changes a lot when turned up? Specially with the small screen 😅
i usually prefer framerate on first person shooters but thats more to do with mouse smoothnes but on handheld i like a good balance between both.Only now are we really able to even have that.I would say some games do look a bit better but i noticed 720p with higher textures and lighting in most games gives it an overall better look but thats my opinion.Now on a bigger screen 720 would look like poo.Or a 1600 x 900 setting.However some games are just not optimized well so depends on each game and trial and error

50 bucks difference for same storage (Ally for 615, SD for 560) and more power. More or less same battery life after the latest updates. You never owned the Ally lol

are you running those games off the micro sd card? if so you would be seeing significant fps drops due to that alone
Just like SD Performance has nothing to do with an SD Card or SSD. Games play exactly the same.
@drummer7557 wrong there is a difference especially considering microsd performance is far worse then a hdd and some games require an ssd

Awesome video, but no need to achieve 60 fps on such a small device. 30 fps and high/ultra settings are smooth enought to live the real experience of ally
At least it gives choice, I'm personally more into smoothness than graphics so i'd prefer lower graphics and smooth experience but those who prefer high graphics can do so
@@SeleDreamsyeah coming from a rtx 3080 I haven’t missed the graphics at all… I just like being able to lay down and play or watch RUclips in the kitchen lol…just bought a dock on Amazon too that allows me to do 2 monitors

Thank you for putting in the effort to test the games in such details. I was a bit let down that games would have to be at low settings for higher fps.
But I’d like to know what others think about games running on low settings and if that’s a dealbreaker for them wrt the ally?
In my experience you can go from low to medium in a lot of games with a very small decrease in FPS. The problem with many reviews is it’s subjective, resolution vs quality vs fps, everyone focuses on what they prefer. I think 99% of games hit at least medium 1080p 45+ fps with fsr/rsr upscaling. I’m very pleased with my purchase.

Realistically speaking, even a desktop 4090.. struggles to play cyberpunk at 4k with the highest settings possible. You kinda have to sacrifice a few settings in order to play some games.

I cant speak for every game but Fortnite is a NOTORIOUS game for frame dips/drops. Unreal Engine as cool as it is relies on tons of caching afaik hence tons of dips on first playthroughs.
ALSO: Temperatures seemed extremely high through some of the playthroughs which could result in fps drops/thermal throttling. I see the APU pulling 30W. I heard disabling Agressive turbo will lower Wattage and stabilize FPS/Lower Thermals (no reduction in FPS)
