i agree to all 3 suggestions they are all awesome songs. Btw the instrument played here by Troy is an Irish Bouzouki( which is derived from Greek Bouzouki but is last 60 years or so adopted by Irish folk musicians though they tune it diferently and because they are more used to play standing instead of siting lutiers making that variant changed the soundbox to be flat back instead of pear shape)
The drummer Kai mentioned in an interview he just did with Sonny Von Cleveland on his channel, that the intro, except for the very beginning and end of it, is completely improvised every show.
such smooth and effortless transitions between sounds whether they be sounds and yes finnish heavy metal with the sounds and accents of a orchestra quite powerful
The end of the acoustic part is like peak Marko - how he casually drops the double neck and switches seamlessly from acoustic guitar to electric bass while singing lead vocals.
Endless Forms Most Beautiful is the first CD written for/by Floor. Tuomas paints with all of Floors colors 🤘💜🤘 all the songs from Waken are written for Tarja and Annette and Floor takes em to a new level. Cool reactions, keep em coming 🤘
Thanks, great reaction! There is a 15 part video of ˋmaking of endless forms most beautifulˋ where Tuomas explains some of the process of composing the songs. My take is that the songs are always stories that he feels need to be told and eventually, through a process which I do not understand, take musical form.
NW have a pretty prominent folk streak running through their work. Initially it was Finnish, but later more Celtic. I Want My Tears Back is a great example, but there are plenty of others. As for how well metal and symphony mix together, why are you surprised? If Beethoven were around today, he'd be a metalhead, the 9th symphony just begs for some distorted guitars to go with all those strings in the 2nd movement. That said, one guy, Yngwie Malmsteen, is generally credited for creating, practically by himself, the neoclassical style of metal guitar in the mid-80s that still serves as a template for much of the symphonic metal that followed. For instance, here is a couple of signature examples - Trilogy Op 5 (ruclips.net/video/Mp_qugCaaec/видео.html) with an orchestra and Black Star (ruclips.net/video/UMq1Ll1_oKY/видео.html).
Very interesting analysis, another great song with a totally chaotic structure is Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean, check out the live in Buenos Aires version.
Thanks for the reaction! Lyrics are the start of these songs, there is a whole series on yt about the making of the album ‘endless forms most beautiful’ that you may enjoy watching.
Tuomas Holopainen (keyboard) writes all the Songs (Lyrics) - Stories - then composes music for them into a demo of how he wants them to sound. Band members then joins in to add a spin on the songs :) so every song you will hear from Nightwish is actualy a story from him that has a meaning to it :) so make sure when you watch "Poet and the Pendulum" to do a reaserch cuz it has a tragic story behind it and there you can see how Metal Mozart puts his heart and soul into the music :) As far as reactions goes would be fun to see you react to Nightwish - High hopes (Live end of an era) it's a Pink Floyd cover. Stay safe man!
Now after the "war" of our minds is lost and long gone we are facing the battle of our Hearts... "Weak Fantasy" shouldn't fit more propiately in these uncertain days what comes to lyricism of this tasty treat of their delicious cake.
This song is about the 3 main religions and how they try to influence mankind to tell them that different gods make the rules and priests are the ones making sure they listen and its also the story they tell and make people feel bad if they are doing something against the rules and create fear love this with NW they go about it in a great way
Nightwish actually started out as more of a power metal band and have transitioned into symphonic metal over the years. They don't use symphonic instrumentation on every song.
Therefore it’s called symphonic metal 😋 Another great song and concert by Nightwish. I love their music. I can recommend Ayreon to you. Floor sings on many albums and also in the first of the live concerts. Ayreon Universe Live. Many very well known metal musicians perform on Ayreon’s albums.
Funny you should mention "symphonic" (classical) and metal. There are studies that show the brain reacts the same way to both. If you look and the structures of many of the riffs and particularly solos, you will see a pretty classical progression. Rob scallon even demonstrated how well they fit by playing some pretty heavy stuff on a cathedral organ using midi ruclips.net/video/PK6FFF2sOBM/видео.html Marko and Floor have a crazy good blend in their voices. Check "My Walden" from the same concert for even more folky.
I believe each band member was given a solo at some time during the concert. Tuomas' was the opening for TGSOE with synchronous fireworks. Marco, of course, sang The Islander. Floor's might well have been Sleeping Sun, and Troy had the opening to My Walden.
D: sorry! I'm pretty bad when it comes to lyrics cuz I'm an instrumentalist so it isn't at the forefront of what I listen for BUT I will pay more attention to them in the future! Thanks!
@@feeperyt Well Mr. Feeper, you might be better off not delving into these lyrics publicly. . . . . . . . . . . . .I can say, however, I completely agree with the band. Weird guitar? Troy is playing an Irish Bouzouki, 8 strings, like a Greek one but flat back. I have often posted this, you might find it an informative 2m 41s of excellent presentation from Tuomas and Troy: ruclips.net/video/ZJuWLkTwtFs/видео.html Take a moment to consider a whole catalogue of orchestral classical music, it's metal without electricity. Perhaps too in an odd moment you should check out the opening narrator, Prof. Richard Dawkins.

You know the drill, songs reqs here!
I'd love to see your take on Song Of Myself from wacken.
This is one of my favourites thanks, check out dead boys poem from Buenos Aires 🤘🤘
Devil And The Deep Dark Ocean from Buenos Aires. A bit of "old" Nightwish with a fresh voice.

go strait to the poet and the pendulum, you have enough ear to analyze that master piece.
Criminally underrated song. Those lyrics, man 🔥🤘 This is tough one for American reactors cause of that taboo, religion..🙏🏻🇫🇮
next one 7 days to the wolves from wembley
Great suggestion!
Hi from Helsinki Finland!
O yeah great suggestion!!
The drummer Kai mentioned in an interview he just did with Sonny Von Cleveland on his channel, that the intro, except for the very beginning and end of it, is completely improvised every show.
A lot of Metal's basic principles are inspired by classical music. The more you listen the more you'll hear it.
I so agree with your POP rant :-). The lyrics on this one are outstanding too :-). This song was written by Marco btw
I did not know that, thank you
With Tuomas that is, not by himself.
My secular anthem. 🖤

The most important instrument on stage here is Floor’s body movement. Her fluid movements really kick arse. Ps the band are epic of course 😀
Fucking agreed
I got a feeling you are starting to like Nightwish 😎🤘
Thank you from FI.

Hello !! Its Nightwish ;)
The "never a dull moment" thing is You never hear this type of music in radio (out of Finland) sadly.
Nice break down. Not sure about the intro. Could be Kai's first concert with the band in Finland after replacing Jukka, don't know.
