Hey Gabriel. I retired a couple of years ago and started watching reaction videos to discover new bands. The first day I saw GLS(Is it OK call it that?) at least 10 times. I accomplished my goal of finding new bands. I had heard of Nightwish. My Pandora account had a Hammerfall channel so I got to hear Kamelot, Within temptation and such. I've discovered many things about bands I knew about (Tool and Rush) . And I discovered many new bands. The Japanese bands, Jinjer, Unleash the Archers, Within Temptation. Ad Infinatum(Melissa's gorgeous) , Epica and Nightwish. No surprises there I've always loved female lead singers. Fleetwood Mac and Heart I have seen about 10 times. Heart has been my favorite since 1975 so I'm too old to get a new one. I think Tuomas is the best composer in this genre along with Arjen Lucassen. I have seen at least 100 GLS reactions and probably 200 other reactions. I listened to each album between 5 and 20 times. I watched Wacken 10 times and Wembly and Tampere at least 5 times I've seen a couple versions of Hellfest and Pinkpop from this year. I am about to watch Rio from last week. I just noticed a Chile from 2days ago.I have seen Tarja , Annette, Marko and Floor with or without Nightwish. And I followed your list at first. So am I worthy to be in the army?

In my opinion, it is a sign that you have kept your inner youth intact, that you can still see the beauty of a flower and a sunset, that you are not stuck in the everyday concrete that surrounds us. I experienced the metal genre late in life, about 7 years ago, and the opening of this path was made by Nightwish with GLS, so I understand you perfectly, I think that for about a week I listened to this song several times every day. For me, it had a therapeutic effect, being emotional support in a difficult moment of my life. You don't need certifications (... it's the first time I've been asked for something like this...). You are already one of us. :)

I grew up In Los Angeles and I went to this club for like everyday and so all the LA bands from 1978-82 that were about to hit it big . Hard rock,metal and punk. Holy Sh.... Indeed !!!!! This song is Like a Coffee with Red Bull .... On Steroids 🤘❤🔥🤘. That glissando is crazy !!!! Floor is classically trained after all. PLUS: Floor has 3 distinct styles. Head banging(straight forward, then back), hair whip(almost like cracking a bull whip) and the Windmill(continuous 360 degree revolutions). Why Windmill? Well she is Dutch. Emppu's guitar solo in this is masterfully executed. And You have NO idea how good are Marko's (Bassist) vocals, Yet .... Nightwish Shadow Unit from Estonia 🤘😎🤘.
Awesome performance, all songs from this live show. It feels like Floor has been singing with the band for several years and not just joined. The duet with Marco sounds bombastic. All the musicians are pros and very synchronized, the drummer blows the roof off.

A ballad where she going through the Octaves and using different styles could be: ' Dead Boy's Poem' from Buenos Aires 2018 / Decades More heavy with rock style could be: Slaying the Dreamer Or Devil and the deep dark Ocean Both from Buenos Aires 2018 / Decades But it really does not matter which song you choose - they are all mind blowing. You could choose to do something really spectacular!! 'The Poet and the Pendulum' from Wembley 2015 Or 'The Greatest Show on Earth' (remember to stay on until the video is completely finished, because the speaking afterwards is an important part of the song!!) 22 minites. From Tampere 2015. Both songs should blow you completely out of your house - and I can assure you that you probably haven't seen / experienced anything like this. Love that 3 octave glissando that Floor does in tandem with Marko. The studio version is from 2004 with original singer Tarja Turunen, that only has his 2 octave slide. Yes, it's heavier, one of their heaviest, and one of the few that Emppu really Shreds on. He ,and the band , play what the song needs and are not out there to show off. Marko is an awesome singer in his own right. He sang backing and co-lead on a lot of songs, and lead on a few, including The Islander and their cove/tribute of Pink Floyd's High Hopes. He was lead singer of a band called Tarot before joining Nightwish. Unfortunately, he left the band early 2021 for personal reasons. They brought that energy for every song in this 15 song set, this was song #11 (GLS was #13). The song itself, is about a Romance that has died. It's over, time to move on. You like the heavy? Me too. Try Yours Is an Empty Hope (Wembley 2015 show), Weak Fantasy (Tampere 2015).

Yes, yes they are. In a month of listening to them you’ll be using a lot more adjectives than good. Do yourself a favor and just watch the entire concert at wacken in 2013. Set aside some time, put on some headphones (or just crank the volume up to the brain melting setting) and just go straight through it. 🤯 you’ll thank me later. 🤘🏼🤘🏼

Also, during that Glissando Floor and Marko did you had a major "Floorgasm" my beautiful blue eyed friend!!! I also am into the heavier stuff and into "bad ass" stuff, so with that I will HIGHLY suggest and recommend "Yours is an Empty Hope" Live at WEMBLEY!!! The song is from the first CD w/ Floor in 2015 (Endless Forms Most Beautiful). FLOOR is the one doing ALL the low guttural Metal death growls in ALL the choruses (NOT Marko, Marko is singing clean, don't let your ears deceive you hahahaha). Empuu's guitar riff is heavy and CRUNCHY w/ such an awesome tone!!! I recommend the WEMBLEY version bcuz the other versions have Floor's growls TOO LOW in the mix. The Wembley performance you can also clearly SEE with her facial and mouth expressions that it's her!!! Army: Like this so he will do it HAHAHA 😅😅😅

Same here - after 2 and a half years of having the tickets laying around at home i cant wait any longer. Just hope that we will have the pleasure of hearing also Henk Poort at the Ziggo Dome on that evening as the Phantom like the deal was at the "beste Zangers"... Driving 600km instead of just having bought tickets for the closest show to my home which would have been 20 kms will hopefully turn out to be a very good decision. Oh well, a visit to Amsterdam is always a good decision... See you at the 28th!!!

I was tired of waiting so I saw them at PinkPop this year. Just a one hour set, but also saw Floor solo with Henk for an hour and topping of the sweltering hot day with Metallica was a nice bonus. 🤘🏽 Looking forward to Nov though.

what i love most about the epic ascending slide she does at the end is that she evenly goes up, with medium resonance and volume and a rather nasal, forward quality and then, once she reaches the high d, she puts in full resonance, free vibrato and a hint of dome to the sound. but only for the high d. on the way down she immediately switches back to the nasal, brighter sound. the effect that it gives is incredible. she certainly could have done the same slide in full classical voice from bottom to top, if she wanted to. which would have been quite a bit more difficult, though. keeping the sound small and letting it blossom only at the top is a wise trick to use. what a singer she is. every time i listen to her greatest performances i am in complete awe. she was at the absolute zenith of her vocal powers during the time of this concert.
If you want to see what styles Floor can do, check out the show "beste zangers" 2019. It's about a group of individual singers who perform for each other in a very small setting in Ibiza. Here she sings, classical , Spanish, country (renditions of shallow) and a duet with an opera singer (phantom of the opera). Check it out you will be blown for sure... Even if you are not into these music styles.
Tuomas has stated Floor really wanted this song in this setlist. Yes, she has the voice of an angel when she wants, but she loves her metal too. Liked and subbed, really appreciating your enjoyment.
I "discovered" Nightwish, almost 3 years ago... just from watching reaction videos. The reason I love this band so much... the obvious... the brilliance of composing by Tuomas...the unmatched vocal ability of Floor, the coolness and talent, both instrumentally and vocally, of Marco...and the excellent drumming by Jukka. As a drummer, myself, Jukka just brought me into this band, even tighter. He brings the energy, passion and wildness of John Bonham and Keith Moon...and adds in the technical excellence of Neil Peart. As you mentioned, his consistency...it's impeccable. Floor's rock vocal ability can be best heard, in songs like Yours Is An Empty Hope. It offers her melodic ability, with the metal growl ability that caught me off guard, the first time I heard it. I was expecting standard, rock vocals that only Floor can bring...and she brings it...and adds in that growl, that, unless you had heard her in years prior to joining Nightwish, it's completely unexpected.

I still think Dark Galadriel is one of the best monikers I've heard in a while. She goes where even Galadriel would fear to tread. *Way* more than once watching her perform this has crossed my mind: "In place of a dark lord, you would have a Queen. Not dark, but beautiful and terrible as the dawn! Treacherous as the sea, stronger than the foundations of the Earth! All shall love me and despair." Also, from your other reactions to NW, it's obvious you're a guy who appreciates a great turn of phrase, real poetry in the lyrics. Even in a banger like this, the lyric poetry is simply sublime! You're going to *love* the rest of this journey just from that aspect alone.

I have only seen them once in concert about 6 months ago. Floor is hands down one of the best frontperson, I have ever seen. You basically can not take you eyes off her while she is onstage. She is just captivating.
You should do Planet Rock - How's the Heart acoustic. It is just Floor, Troy, and a guitar. Also you should do the entire Wacken 2013 concert before moving on. There is nothing bad in it.

I am a country boy from TN 47 yes old and I have watched hundreds of reactions to this song, this song has so much drive and energy I literally come to tears listening to it as it can be overwhelming

Yes, yes they are. In a month of listening to them you’ll be using a lot more adjectives than good. Do yourself a favor and just watch the entire concert at wacken in 2013. Set aside some time, put on some headphones (or just crank the volume up to the brain melting setting) and just go straight through it. 🤯 you’ll thank me later. 🤘🏼🤘🏼

Also, during that Glissando Floor and Marko did you had a major "Floorgasm" my beautiful blue eyed friend!!! I also am into the heavier stuff and into "bad ass" stuff, so with that I will HIGHLY suggest and recommend "Yours is an Empty Hope" Live at WEMBLEY!!! The song is from the first CD w/ Floor in 2015 (Endless Forms Most Beautiful). FLOOR is the one doing ALL the low guttural Metal death growls in ALL the choruses (NOT Marko, Marko is singing clean, don't let your ears deceive you hahahaha). Empuu's guitar riff is heavy and CRUNCHY w/ such an awesome tone!!! I recommend the WEMBLEY version bcuz the other versions have Floor's growls TOO LOW in the mix. The Wembley performance you can also clearly SEE with her facial and mouth expressions that it's her!!! Army: Like this so he will do it HAHAHA 😅😅😅

Same here - after 2 and a half years of having the tickets laying around at home i cant wait any longer. Just hope that we will have the pleasure of hearing also Henk Poort at the Ziggo Dome on that evening as the Phantom like the deal was at the "beste Zangers"... Driving 600km instead of just having bought tickets for the closest show to my home which would have been 20 kms will hopefully turn out to be a very good decision. Oh well, a visit to Amsterdam is always a good decision... See you at the 28th!!!
@@markusdietrich6777 I have a tip for you. The solo shows of Floor are great also and Henk Poort is always present to sing some duets with Floor. A few weeks ago they were in Hertme near the German border. For the 28th of November in the Ziggo Dome i am not sure but they promised last year Henk would be there! See you!
I was tired of waiting so I saw them at PinkPop this year. Just a one hour set, but also saw Floor solo with Henk for an hour and topping of the sweltering hot day with Metallica was a nice bonus. 🤘🏽 Looking forward to Nov though.

what i love most about the epic ascending slide she does at the end is that she evenly goes up, with medium resonance and volume and a rather nasal, forward quality and then, once she reaches the high d, she puts in full resonance, free vibrato and a hint of dome to the sound. but only for the high d. on the way down she immediately switches back to the nasal, brighter sound. the effect that it gives is incredible. she certainly could have done the same slide in full classical voice from bottom to top, if she wanted to. which would have been quite a bit more difficult, though. keeping the sound small and letting it blossom only at the top is a wise trick to use.
what a singer she is. every time i listen to her greatest performances i am in complete awe. she was at the absolute zenith of her vocal powers during the time of this concert.
It is amazing both musically and technically what Floor and the band are capable of!
Floor and Marco sing so well together, those sliding notes are impossible! And right the band just exudes energy!!
If you want to see what styles Floor can do, check out the show "beste zangers" 2019. It's about a group of individual singers who perform for each other in a very small setting in Ibiza.
Here she sings, classical , Spanish, country (renditions of shallow) and a duet with an opera singer (phantom of the opera). Check it out you will be blown for sure... Even if you are not into these music styles.
Tuomas has stated Floor really wanted this song in this setlist. Yes, she has the voice of an angel when she wants, but she loves her metal too. Liked and subbed, really appreciating your enjoyment.

I "discovered" Nightwish, almost 3 years ago... just from watching reaction videos. The reason I love this band so much... the obvious... the brilliance of composing by Tuomas...the unmatched vocal ability of Floor, the coolness and talent, both instrumentally and vocally, of Marco...and the excellent drumming by Jukka. As a drummer, myself, Jukka just brought me into this band, even tighter. He brings the energy, passion and wildness of John Bonham and Keith Moon...and adds in the technical excellence of Neil Peart. As you mentioned, his consistency...it's impeccable.
Floor's rock vocal ability can be best heard, in songs like Yours Is An Empty Hope. It offers her melodic ability, with the metal growl ability that caught me off guard, the first time I heard it. I was expecting standard, rock vocals that only Floor can bring...and she brings it...and adds in that growl, that, unless you had heard her in years prior to joining Nightwish, it's completely unexpected.

I still think Dark Galadriel is one of the best monikers I've heard in a while. She goes where even Galadriel would fear to tread. *Way* more than once watching her perform this has crossed my mind:

Also, from your other reactions to NW, it's obvious you're a guy who appreciates a great turn of phrase, real poetry in the lyrics. Even in a banger like this, the lyric poetry is simply sublime! You're going to *love* the rest of this journey just from that aspect alone.

Hahaha nice reaction, sofar you had only seen some melodic songs but she has whole other range as well just wait and see (and hear) for yourself. Floor being Dutch is a master at windmilling 🌀 Another nice heavier piece is Devil and the deep dark Ocean live in Buenos Aires 2015 or Slaying the dreamer from that same concert. But maybe stay at Wacken and do Song of Myself. In the end it doesn't matter we love'em all 🤘🏽
More Nightwish please :) "Storytime" or "Song of Myself" are good choices to follow. Or, from a different concert, "Weak Fantasy" at Tampere 2015 is a great one, also a bit different and those drums...!
I have only seen them once in concert about 6 months ago. Floor is hands down one of the best frontperson, I have ever seen. You basically can not take you eyes off her while she is onstage. She is just captivating.
You should do Planet Rock - How's the Heart acoustic. It is just Floor, Troy, and a guitar. Also you should do the entire Wacken 2013 concert before moving on. There is nothing bad in it.

From a old metal rock head, check out Floor’s band Revamp, songs Distain, Trial of Monsters or Millions, to start Graspop 2010. This was her band she wrote a lot of the songs and assembled the band. Floor can sing any genre thank god metal & rock is in her veins! Rock On Stay Safe!🙏🤘🤘🤘
