  • The venerable Bosch stand-alone range we bought in 2004 stopped heating. In this video, we diagnose and "fix" it.
Service manual for the range is here: youtube.wardco.com/bosch_hds25...

Enjoyed this video. Am a fan of your troubleshooting and your overview of schematics are always interesting. Thanks

I feel your frustration! There have been many times where I touched/adjusted several things at once and in the rare instances where the appliance/car/etc. started working....nothing was learned. Will it screw up next week? Maybe! I agree with you on the practice of making service information so proprietary. It wouldn't kill these companies to make this stuff accessible to "people like us" since most consumers would likely just replace the product anyway. Thanks for posting another interesting video.

Glad you weathered the the weather.
Wade, all of your videos you show excellent troubleshooting skills. I watched your video with baited breath was that bad breath to the very end so you'll get full credit from RUclips. I hope that there will not be a follow-up video. I will not give up my simplistic gas oven because it's so simplistic that even I can fix it. So did you use your hacker skills to get that manual, I'm constantly trying to get schematics etc. with mixed results.

Yeah, there are ways to get "behind" the paywall at some of the sites that charge for information.

This is interesting, I wonder why it decided to work again? Maybe a poor connection to the terminals in the receptacle? Nice video!

Hi there.. I have that same bosh model oven . The issue I have is the oven takes really long to heat up. Do you have any idea why ?

That sounds similar to the problem that got me started on all this -- and that I never identified since it just "started working." Grrr.
Either the heating element(s) are not coming on at all, or the thermostat is screwy and is telling the control board things are already hot. Run the self-tests shown in the video and you should be able to isolate the problem to one or the other.

Did you get that figured out? Both the top and bottom elements should be coming-on- maybe one is burned-out or one of the relays went bad. I always turn-on the convection initially because the extra "ring" element helps the oven heats-up faster!
