@@TommyTompkins We are finally selling this range to get another one and I am actually somewhat sad that I won't be able to do this fix with my new range. Ha! Still so good 1 year later. :)
This truly works! I ordered a $120 touchpad, thinking I needed to replace the 'broken' touchpad on my Samsung gas range. Then I watched Tommy's video and thought I'd give it a try before installing the new touchpad. It took me about 5 minutes (most of that is pulling out the stove and unscrewing the back panel) and violá. It worked instantly. I was able to return the unopened box containing the new touchpad to the repair parts dealer and got all my money back. Before all this, I contacted Samsung and the response, as one would think, made no mention of the potential for a loose or dirty connection. Instead they suggested I unplug the stove or have a technician Iook at it. It costs $65 just for a technician to come to the house, let alone examine the stove. This fix saved me a ton of time and money. Thanks so much, Tommy.
You literally just saved my family between $1k & $1.5k!! We had given up on the range and had already priced a replacement. I found your video and thought that there was no way I would be able to fix this in 20 minutes with an eraser. IT WORKED! Every button is back. We lived without a clock for 2 months. Yesterday we couldn’t turn the oven off without flipping the breaker. I figured it was already broke, so what’s the worst I could do if I tried it. Thank You!
I just used the same technique on my vehicle's key fob! It worked and saved me at least 3 hours driving to the dealership plus whatever they would have charged me. Thank you!
5 years later and your video still works! Just did this to my mom's oven. She had a heart attack this year and has been eating really healthy but limited on what she can cook without the oven working. Thankyou so much!
I can confirm this absolutely works. Got a Samsung oven from Costco and only 6 months in, got the C-F2 error on and off that would stay on for weeks. Costco's 90 days satisfaction guarantee already passed so we were pretty much screwed. When the error was on, the oven was just a brick and couldn't be used. The burners would work but anything in the oven was a no go. Unplugging and replugging only resulted in a immediate C-F2 error. And on the days it would clear (when it would decide to behave and the error would clear by pressing "Off/Clear") the oven would work fine, no problem at all. Got tired trying to just wait the code out and ran into this video. And this eraser ribbon cleaning WORKS. THANK YOU. Time will tell if the error returns but if it does, I'll just go back to cleaning the ribbon. This video deserves all the likes, praise, and tips. TY again
You sir just saved me $2000. I was about to go buy a new oven. Random buttons have been working and not working constantly. What a simple solution. I just did it and instantly all the buttons are wokring again! You are my hero sir!
Bro, you just saved me a lot of money. I had the LOWEST of expectations of this working. We had one burner working for years & our oven hasn’t worked for 6 months & when it did it took us 10 minutes to mash buttons(with sore fingers) just to get a pizza cooked. Thank you!!! 🙏 ❤
Dudeeeeee I love you. Stove hasn't worked for about 1yr+ cooking in a toaster/ bake oven..finally found warranty papers n called and was out of warranty. $500 to repair the oven was there quote.i came across your video and said why not what do I have to lose.cleaned that piece maybe 5x,3 erasers later.broil function started working but not the bake. I tried one more time with a new eraser, cleaned it again and the opp.side and prestooooooo it workeddd.your a lifesaver.now I can have a real dinner, and wifey might even give me a special treat.lmao.thank u againnnn
We have exactly the same oven and replaced the board two times and each lasted about 2-3 years before malfunctioning again. This time we were considering replacing because repair quotation itself is about $450. Your simple and easy solution is the best I have ever seen. Many thanks from my family for posting the video.
Best video on the net. I went around my home and found several appliances with this ribbon cable and went ahead and did maintenance on them and didn't realize how poorly they were working. Thanks, man!
I’ll add my voice to the multitudes! I had resigned that we were buying a new stove. My wife found this video and I figured it wouldn’t hurt….. Works good as new now. It’s nice having the options of all the numbers on the keypad AND the oven light. Thank you!!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! We have had trouble with our stove for months now. First the zero wouldn't work, then the 3...it wasn't until the 'start' button started to show signs of failing that we started to worry about it. We priced new panels and they were $300+ and then, we come across this video and it totally worked!!! We now have all the buttons working again and are forever grateful for this video!!! Thanks again!!!
I liked your video very much and already clicked the like button and shared your video with my relatives abroad. Thanks for a great video. I do not have any such problem, however, I will use the cleaning techniques you have described in your video, and some other cleaning methods viewers have suggested in this comment section of your video. You did a great service, Sir. It is fantastic!!! Your video has great value over all which can be extended to many varieties of appliances, and especially where the control panels are not available in the market as in discontinued models. Thanks again. I went over almost all viewers' feed back and your replies, and found them very useful. Please keep up the good work.
This worked perfectly! We were so worried when we were selling our house that we would have to pay a lot to fix this problem, but this took care of it and was super easy! Thank you so much for your time and for being willing to share your expertise!
My stove woke me up this morning around 5AM with beeping and an error code on the display which meant there was something wrong with my membrane display. I was googling parts and such to find a replacement after the recommended fix didn't work - and I figured I would need to know what to do once I had the part so I found myself here on RUclips. This actually worked! Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom with the world!
WORKED LIKE MAGIC!!!! as soon as I finished and started pushing the buttons me and my mom looked at each other because we couldn’t believe how easy it was! Thank you for this! :)
OMG...you are amazing. Watched this and asked my husband to clean the contacts on the ribbon cable and voila! It works....perfectly! Our microwave might last 20 years now. It’s almost 15 years old today.
Hi Tommy. I bought a stove two years ago in the US and brought it to my new home in Brazil. A few days ago some buttons on the control panel's stove stopped working. I don`t have how to buy a new panel from here so I tried your tip and... IT WORKED!! Thank you so much!! This tip was the BEST because beside I saved money I solved a difficult problem for me. TAKE CARE TOMMY!!!
Cleaning with rubbing alcohol a week ago didn’t fix the problem. Started to consider a vet expensive double oven replacement and tried this. IT WORKED, no problems for over a week now! Thank you...thank you...thank you!
I was searching RUclips videos on how to troubleshoot a control panel when the buttons stop working and ran across yours. It sounded too good to be true so was skeptical but I had nothing to lose. It worked perfectly!!! And I did it by myself since my husband was gone! All buttons are working fine now! Thanks for your awesome video!
I’m moving in less than a month. The last thing I wanted to do was call a repair man to fix my stove when the off button stopped working today. I am not a handy person but I followed this video and my button is fixed. Genius! Thanks so much!
So I have to comment on both my absolutely laziness and how fantastically WONDERFUL this video is! ...I watched it the first time when part of the buttons stopped working...a year ago, ahem...and didn't want to do this and accidentally mess it up...about a month ago, all the bottoms stopped and since it was summer, I didn't care and used the grill. Finally decided to fix it...undid 6 screws, used an eraser just like this said and in 10 minutes i saved myself $1k not needing to buy a new stove, everything works again, THANK YOU!
this is all-around handy to know about - there are so many episodes where push-buttons fail to make contact and we start breaking our thumbs or fingers with more and more damaging pressure - THANK YOU VERY VERY MUCH !
I just did this on my maytag gemini double oven. The lower oven bake and convection bake buttons weren't working. I was going to send the whole computer board out to be repaired, because they dont make this model or replacement parts anymore. Totally worked, and saved me 150 dollars and not having an oven for a few weeks. Thank you so much!!!!!!!
Tommy Tompkins I want to THANK YOU FOR SAVING OUR CHRISTMAS DINNER . OUR OVEN WOULD NOT TURN ON DUE TO WHAT I THOUGHT WAS FAULTY KEY PAD BUTTONS . I FOLLOWED YOUR VIDEO EXACTLY AND TO MY SUPREME OUR BUTTONS ALL WORKED PERFECTLY AFTER THE JOB . THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR TAKING THE TIME TO SHOOT AND UPLOAD THIS VIDEO . YOU LITERALLY SAVED OUR CHRISTMAS DINNER BECAUSE WE WERE NOT ABLE TO COOK THE TURKEY WITHOUT THE OVEN . THANK YOU TOMMY THANK YOU MERRY CHRISTMAS BUDDY! !
Hello Tommy. I am from Morocco. I have been suffering from sciatica for 14 years. I saw your experience through the video. I was happy to see you return to your normal life after years of pain. It is wonderful. I hope to join you as well. I just want you to give me a rough idea of the cost of the operation. Which please do if it is possible. Thank you and I wish you a happy life
Thank you so much, i was so upset my stove is only about 8 months old and the bake and numbers 1-4 would not work, I did exactly as you said and presto my range is working once again. Thank you again. God Bless and Stay Safe Greatly appreciated for the free advice , Very simple and i did it myself. So happy😀
This just saved our Thanksgiving! It worked perfectly. I have replaced the panel twice at a few hundred dollars each time and it is pretty clear all I needed to do was this simple maintenance task. Why in God's name isn't Frigidaire making this known. Anyway... thanks for putting his up there. It flat out worked exactly as advertised! Happy Thanksgiving!
I watched your video just to find out how to remove the panel. I already bought a replacement, the second in two years. Wow! The eraser worked perfectly - all the buttons work again. Thanks for the great tip.
Thank you thank you thank you. Your video has saved me and my husband several hundred dollars. We were about to go shopping for a new oven, and we came across your video. Who would have ever known our saving grace would be an eraser!!
Your video just saved me from buying a $250 panel. I was having the heat problem as well the button panel would heat up and turn off. I’ve seen videos of people cleaning ribbon connections with pencil erasers before I did not know this panel had a ribbon connector found it cleaned it fixed it. so I think you by subscribing and liking.
You saved us! With Corona Virus and stay at home orders we had to hope we could find a fix for non working buttons on our Dacor oven. It worked like a charm...thank you!
My double oven panel stopped working months ago after a lightening strike that blew out numerous breakers in our electrical panel. After replacing those and having it still not work I was set to order a new one, then I ran across this video. What the heck, I had to give it a try. I didn't actually figure out how to remove the whole panel (I think I may have to tip the oven out of it's wall enclosure) and access the connection with that eraser, but I could see that tapey-like strip and could feel my way around a bit. I rubbed the connection with my fingers, and wiggled it a bit, and YIPPEE--it actually works again. I'm keeping my fingers crossed! Thanks so much for the video,!!
Just a note, If the contacts of the ribbon cable a graphite color absolutely start with a light abrasive cleaning, i.e., a pencil eraser. Do NOT use any cleaner,, alcohol or electronic on that ribbon, or you will damage it. The author correctly said "eraser" ! Bravo !
Greetings from Cheshire, England. Worked like a charm on my AEG oven on which the touch sensitive controls had gone gradually worse since the beginning of the year . Was just about to spend £400+ on a new oven. Thank you so much.
I was just about to call a technician to fix my "SE" code issue. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. This is video is amazing!! It took me about 10 minutes to fix the issue. THANKS A MILLION!!
Ok. I saw your video and wanted to believe it but deep down I didn't. With no other option I gave it a try and LET ME TELL YOU SIR! I LOVE YOU! YOU ARE AMAZING! AND THANK YOU. YOU SAVED THE DAY!🥰
Thank you!!! My boyfriend and I literally were at the brink of throwing my Samsung range out to pasture when we couldn't figure out why parts of the control panel weren't working. And bam...we found your video and it was FREAKING PENCIL from my junk drawer that fixed it!!! Thank you 😊
Worked great for me in an instant. No need to worry about hitting the appliance store or getting technicians flood my house. True, the cheapest panel out in the market for my range is about $400. The holidays are on track!! Thanks Tommy.
Bought the same oven as in your video for pennies (almost literally)...buttons weren't working...10 minutes later with a screwdriver and an eraser and they work fine. Liked & Tipped!
This is so legit!!! I’ve corrected my buttons not working twice now. Most appliance guys want to replace the control board or sell me a new appliance. Save your money! This only takes 5 minutes.
This worked for me and solved 90% of my problems. The clear/off button still doesn't work, but it hasn't worked in years so it is not a big deal. But, the 1, 2, 7, 8, and 9 buttons are back! Yay!
Was dreading having to navigate getting the repairman over here during the pandemic, so tried this out and it fixed it. Really thankful for the video cheers.
Thank you so much. This saved my parents a lot of money that they really couldn’t afford to spend. I watched your video, did what you said, and it’s working good as new. I’m so glad you were able to get to the bottom of it and you’re doing the right thing by making peoples lives better. P.S Def subscribed and liked and I’ll even be watching some adds all the way through lol
Bro. You are a genius. I was really considering buying the $530 electronic replacement panel until I saw your video. I'm SO glad you shared this with all of us. Nice video work also!!
Thank you !!!!!! I just did exactly what you advised and I was able to bake my lasagna at home !! I had taken it to the neighbors because I thought my range was a goner , saves me around $1,500 from having to replace it had she been given the chance. Lol. Thank you.
Was on my to depot to replace a one year old Samsung. Boom tried this tip, back to making frozen pizzas. Took maybe 10 minutes & saved hundreds. The problem I was having was the keyboard was unresponsive and couldnt set oven temp or shut off oven unit. Thanks Man!
Our KitchenAid slide in electric range had the same issues and this eraser trick fixed the buttons that had stopped working. Very easy, thank you so much!
I have a Samsung oven/range. The buttons went bad over time. I pulled out the back and cleaned the ribbon cable and it worked. Thank you very, very much.
This same technique works with other devices that use ribbon cables, like laptop computers and tablets. An ink eraser (with the white, grittier eraser) may work better if there's a lot of corrosion.
I tried to clean and i did get 2 elements working. After seeing another forum as well as cleaning that did work for me, was also pressing the clear button, then holding the start button until the door locking starts. Once oven was fully locked, i did the same process again to unlock it. Now all my buttons work again. All elements, bake, broil, clock, whole thang. Hope that helps if anyone else still wasnt getting all the buttons back. Thanks for the video!
Dude, you are the man. I didn't have this exact same thread style end piece but I basically cleaned the connections and BOOM! I too am the man!! Thanks dude!
Fixed. Thank you. My Frigidaire Gallery Range numeric keypad was recognizing the "3" button as a "2." Essential I had two "2" buttons and no "3" button. Everything else worked, but could not enter 3, which means no temperature with a 3 in it could be set. A power reset did not work, but cleaning the ribbon cable did. The ribbon cable on this model is harder to see as it is smaller, grey, and hidden among other connections, but it disconnects as described in the video and I cleaned it as instructed. The eraser cleaning trick makes sense as it's been used for decades to clean electrical contacts of many kinds. An eraser is basically just a very fine abrasive.
this worked great. only one of my buttons was working, now all buttons work. after cleaning with an eraser, i used qtips /rubbing alcohol on the contacts and was surprised at how much filth was still left behind. thanks for the video.
This was spot on exactly what my Gemini Maytag double oven gas stove needed! Used the eraser just as your video demonstrated and presto, my oven keypads work properly again! Thank you for saving me $$$ by not having to get a new motherboard!!
Thank you so much! You just saved my (Canadian) Thanksgiving! Because there was no way we could get it repaired before Monday! Now I can have my traditional homemade Thanksgiving muffins and a warm Thanksgiving meal! Thank you again!
I want to thank You so so much! I had an error code in my keypad of a different stove and had placed an order for the piece in ebay and it was due to be delivered today and it was delayed. So God said go look on youtube and find a video on how to manually ignite the stove like back in the day. Your video popped up and I read the comments and I said a prayer over the video bc I really didnt have the money for the part. It was $250, and that was the cheapest seller. They package was delayed and I wad going to go all weekend without a stove and I asked my son humor me and help me get the panel off. It looked as though of the pins was cruddy, I had used the eraser but also a small pin to scratch lightly each pin. We put it back together ans turned the breaker back on and its meatloaf tonight instead if tacos! Thank you so much. Now I can get a refund from the seller when it comes and use that money to pay my car payment! Thank you!!! Praise Jesus for leading me to find you! ❤❤❤❤😊
Wanted to say "thank you" for the help. I have a Samsung nx58f5500sw unit and its different than your's but I applied the same process. Mine only had one ribbon strip so I disassembled, cleaned, and reassembled with just a screw driver and works like a charm. Thx!!
Appreciate the tip. Was considering purchasing another keypad. The eraser did the trick. Had to push the cable in and out a couple times as well. Thanks.
Thanks. I was ready to order a new membrane and watched your video just to nail down the steps to disassemble the panel. Your technique worked perfectly. Thanks for saving me a couple of hundred bucks.
OMG it really works!!! I personally thank you 🙏🏻 for posting this video, I save a lots of money 💰 I thought I had it to buy a new stove before watching your video.
I'm using the eraser on the end of a broken plastic button to facilitate the push button functionality of the original button. The eraser is bored out to fit on a plastic point that pushes the tiny button inside the panel & the button is then carefully taped onto the panel with tape that matches the panel (white tape in my case). It sounds horrible, but it looks fine when completed. So I'm using the eraser for something completely different, but I thank you for the inspiration. Necessity is the mother of invention.
This is quite possibly the greatest video/fix of all time. Thank you so much.
Dainel what you said says it all!
Did this again 1 year later after the cancel button stopped working. 🙃 worked again! The gift that keeps on giving!

You saved us! With Corona Virus and stay at home orders we had to hope we could find a fix for non working buttons on our Dacor oven. It worked like a charm...thank you!
You're welcome :) It is definitely a good coronavirus fix. Somebody better tell Trump.
This worked. Thank you so much. After 7 months without a working oven this video helped me so much.
Glad it worked for you!
😊 WOW! This really worked. I'm so happy now I can make TV dinners again. 😊
Bravo !
Worked like a charm. Saved me over $400 repair from service center. Thank you. Donation arriving soon.
Glad I could help! Donations are always greatly appreciated!
You 100% just saved our asses for 3 holiday get togethers we have starting tonight. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Ha! Glad I could help! Merry Christmas!
Greetings from Cheshire, England. Worked like a charm on my AEG oven on which the touch sensitive controls had gone gradually worse since the beginning of the year . Was just about to spend £400+ on a new oven. Thank you so much.
Glad to hear it!
Your trick saved me over $300.00 for a new touchpad. Thank you very much.
Sir, you are a true American hero. From the bottom of my heart: thank you!
I was just about to call a technician to fix my "SE" code issue. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. This is video is amazing!! It took me about 10 minutes to fix the issue. THANKS A MILLION!!
Great to hear! You're welcome!
Thank you 😊
You just saved my roommates and I hundreds of dollars with this video. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
Fixed my Samsung range in less than 10 minutes! My range was out of warranty, and I am so glad I found your video!
Great!
Worked great for me in an instant. No need to worry about hitting the appliance store or getting technicians flood my house. True, the cheapest panel out in the market for my range is about $400. The holidays are on track!! Thanks Tommy.
You are a true hero. Just saved me $300 in repair costs.
Bought the same oven as in your video for pennies (almost literally)...buttons weren't working...10 minutes later with a screwdriver and an eraser and they work fine. Liked & Tipped!
Awesome!
This is so legit!!! I’ve corrected my buttons not working twice now. Most appliance guys want to replace the control board or sell me a new appliance. Save your money! This only takes 5 minutes.
Happy to see that it continues to work for you!
You just saved me weeks of hunting a part no longer made, and the hundreds of dollars to acquire it if I could even find it. Consider me subscribed.
Great! Glad I could help!
I give you ten ⭐️. This actually worked fast. Thank you. This method saves me time and money.
This worked for me and solved 90% of my problems. The clear/off button still doesn't work, but it hasn't worked in years so it is not a big deal. But, the 1, 2, 7, 8, and 9 buttons are back! Yay!
Thank you!!! My parents have the same oven and haven't been able to use it for months. After watching this video, I fixed it in minutes!
Was dreading having to navigate getting the repairman over here during the pandemic, so tried this out and it fixed it. Really thankful for the video cheers.
It's definitely a good coronavirus fix. Glad it helped!
Thank you! Glad it helped!
Thanks Man!
Awesome! I hereby request that you make me a pizza with your newly fixed oven. I'm hungry! :)
Our KitchenAid slide in electric range had the same issues and this eraser trick fixed the buttons that had stopped working. Very easy, thank you so much!
Thank you! Saved me thousands. You made me a hero in the eyes of my wife!!!
Fixing marriages one at a time around here. lol
Thank you! Saved us 5k. We replaced the front panel for $300 including the ribbon and it worked!!
Followed your instructions and WOW!!!....my stove touch pad is WORKING. THANK YOU so much!!!!
You're welcome!
Just tried this with my Samsung electric range after getting an error code SE...and it worked! Still cant believe it worked lol...thanks a bunch!
The replacement was going to cost me 389.00 for the membrane and board. But after watching your video and trying, it worked.
Thanks
I feel like crying this was so easy! And fast... Like you said, saved lots of money too. THANK YOU for this video!
Glad it helped!
This 3 years later still worked like a charm .. thank you
Dude, you are the man. I didn't have this exact same thread style end piece but I basically cleaned the connections and BOOM! I too am the man!! Thanks dude!
even if you don't have this exact model this still works!!! you saved me like $300!!
My stove was a drop in GE Profile, but the 10 cent pencil eraser ribbon cleaning seems to have worked. No more F7 error code and beeps. Thanks.
Fixed.
Glad it worked for you Todd!
this worked great. only one of my buttons was working, now all buttons work. after cleaning with an eraser, i used qtips /rubbing alcohol on the contacts and was surprised at how much filth was still left behind. thanks for the video.
Glad to hear it Carl!
This was spot on exactly what my Gemini Maytag double oven gas stove needed! Used the eraser just as your video demonstrated and presto, my oven keypads work properly again! Thank you for saving me $$$ by not having to get a new motherboard!!
Great!! Glad it worked for you too!
I seriously cannot believe it was that easy, thank you!
You're welcome!
WOW! sir, thank you so much for sharing your wisdom with us mere mortals. YES, it worked!!! You seriously just saved my family thousands of dollars.
Excellent! Glad it helped!
Wow. Stuff the manufacturer doesn't want you to know. I will try it this weekend THANK YOU
I thought lunch wasn't going to be ready on time until I found this video. Took me less than 10 minutes to fix my Samsung Range. Thank you!
Glad it worked for you!
WORKED GREAT. SUCH AN EASY FIX. THERE WAS AN OXIDATION OF SOME TYPE ON RIBBON END. GREAT VIDEO.
This is the husband and father every family needs
Thank you soooo much! This actually worked! I was thinking of getting a whole new stove and you saved me money!
Awesome! Glad it worked for you!
And you both saved some electronic waste. Great job guys. (Y)
Wanted to say "thank you" for the help. I have a Samsung nx58f5500sw unit and its different than your's but I applied the same process. Mine only had one ribbon strip so I disassembled, cleaned, and reassembled with just a screw driver and works like a charm. Thx!!
Glad I could help!
This is the best! You saved us so much heart ache and $$$$.
Great! Glad it worked for you.
It worked!!! I can't thank you enough for posting this video. I saved a bunch of money fixing this problem on our gas stove!! THANK YOU!!!
GREAT! GLAD TO HEAR IT!!! :)
OMG!!! THANK YOU!!! We did your trick and my oven is working again!!!! This was a life saver!!
Your video is good. It does not shake too much. Thanks.
OMG it really works!!! I personally thank you 🙏🏻 for posting this video, I save a lots of money 💰 I thought I had it to buy a new stove before watching your video.
Glad it worked for you and happy that it saved you some cash :)
