'Millennium' was the first single from Robbie’s second album ‘I’ve Been Expecting You’ and the first of seven UK No. 1 singles (so far). ‘Millennium’ includes a co-writing credit for John Barry and Leslie Bricusse, as it incorporates elements of their 1967 theme for the James Bond film 'You Only Live Twice'.
That theme was originally sung by Nancy Sinatra, who topped the chart when she duetted with her father Frank Sinatra on ‘Somethin’ Stupid’; a cover of the same song would provide Robbie and Nicole Kidman with the UK Christmas No. 1 in 2001.
The James Bond connections continue in the video directed by British filmmaker Vaughan Arnell, where a suave tuxedo-clad Robbie shares the screen with model-turned-TV-chef Lorraine Pascal, among others. ‘Millennium’ won the award for ‘British Video of the Year’ at the 1999 BRIT Awards.

Damn this song takes me back! It was on the radio constantly while I was moving out for the first time to start a good job 350 miles away. The future was bright and life was good. Reality had yet to rear its ugly head.

2025 here
This is actually a great piece of history. It captures the hope of the year 2000, and the 2000's from the people of the 90's. It's a dead shame they didn't get the perfect world they imagined, but this song captures that hope, and keeps it alive for us, to enjoy in their hope more than 20 years on.
I’d agree with this sentiment.
Every generation of great musicians made music about hope for a better world/future. Unfortunately none of them got their wish. That being said, long live this song forever, one of my all time favorite songs
@ag2407 dead shame really. Every generation thought they were the difference that needed to be made until the change was too late. Glad that we can all experience the music that our past generations listened to through their lives though. It'd be impressive if it wasn't terrifying
It seemed that at the very beggining of the century, but the 11/9/2001 messed up that dream...
For all the millennials ❤
So crazy that we could experience a millennium. What a time.
it all depends on when you start counting :)
This song is very nostalgic, a reminder of broken promises and a bright future which never came, could be now the anthem of postmodernism.😢

@@stmary2260 That was the best.
A little bit of my recent history. Robbie took the John Barry tune to a new level. Great song and that Aston DB5 … I had a Corgie one as a kid in the 1960’s.

Timeless track with U 100
Still can't stand it actually. I remember it being half arsed and half spirited then, and frankly it's aged like a bad joke.
discovered it 2 months ago and in love, so 2000s
Heard it at TJ's at around 830AM this morning, brought a tear to my eye. Thinking back for a second to when I was 11 in 1999 and first heard it and how simpler the world was, how provincial my life was, humming it to myself in the outfield at baseball practice. Couldn't even contemplate the way the future turned out. But hey, maybe the same applies for the future going forward.

So nostalgic, so timeless, one of my closest friends in high school looked exactly like Robbin too so it's crazy so much wisdom in this song and the delivery is priceless
As an adult, I hear the deeper meaning in this song. The world started getting weird in the late 90s. I could feel it changing, a lot of people could. And not for the better
2021--and we sure have fallen from grace from the late 90s. Makes me sad.

It also visually references Goldfinger, Thunderball, Moonraker, Live & Let Die, Diamonds Are Forever, possibly others?
I remember this song back in 1999. My father was listening to it and watching the music video and he was laughing because he understood the lyrics. Now that I'm older, I understand too. Rest in peace Dad. I miss you.

I was 15 when this song came out. I was in love with it then and I am still in love with it now that I am 37. The only difference now, is that every time Robbie Williams says "Youth is wasted on the young, before you know it's come and gone too soon", it hits me real hard, because I just realized how the years went by so fast.

"...Or so, it seems, one life for yourself & one for your dreams..."
Millennials, Robbie was that one who baptized our generation with this song 😻
Very well said, my friend; this should be the anthem of all of us, the millennials!
But..... the Millennial generation started in 1981... and ended before this song even existed.... I assume you are referring to Generation Z
That's my song, because I'm from 85. So, I'm Millenial. 🤣
@Amsterdam 2032 early Genzies were toddlers in 1998, people born in the late 90s cannot remember anything about the beginning of the millennium or the Y2K, even the last millennials were kids in that year, so this song practically represents the era of the oldest millennials (1981-1988). The Spice girls did something similar with the song Move over (Generation next). Musical era of genzies started with Ariana Grande, Fifth Harmony and the second wave of genzies is just starting in this decade with Olivia Rodrigo, etc. But if you like Robbie and you feel part of the Gen Y, no problem, we accept you.
@@ivjimene Good point! Im not apart of either but I like that you were polite with your response, I know many people that would have jumped at getting into an argument with me. I love Robbie, Feel is definitely his best song in my opinion.

I hope your little dude will forever know and LOVE this song, really! My son is 38, and I raised him on Gino Vanneli, and to this day he is still a fan. When I was pregnant with my daughter, now 43, I listened to Mozart constantly. She loves Mozart, but she is a big fan of Prince (modern day Mozart)) Music is sooo important in a child's life, even thought they don't know it. Both my kids, and my grandkids, are music maniacs. They love every genre of music, except jazz or country (they take after their mama). I used to hate metal, hard rock, until they started joining up with symphonies. Then all of a sudden orchestra and hard rock became a beautiful sound. Metallica for instance. .No Leaf Clover. Check it out.
Cannot believe quarter of a century has passed since this masterpiece where did the time go?
Id love to see Robbie Williams in a Bond Film.

The pain of nostalgia, if unchecked, at times becomes physical. I was 30, just got out of 11 years of the Navy, everything seems so bright and optimistic. When the pain is overwhelming I just remember that we are here NOW and should not take it for granted. 20 years from now, will you feel pain for today?
Thats poetry, man.

Such a great tune
Love this song! British people can be proud about their bands and singers.
totally agree.
British people can be proud for the creation of suicidal misfits. Don't get me wrong, it's not the suicidal misfits I'm at arms with, it's the so called 'proud' British people. You know, the ones that spite people behind their backs just because they're jealous of them? I kinda think Robbie was even more pissed off than I am about the lies. Wake up and see the sarcasam in my 'eyes'.
I don't think that's a British trait, that's just human nature anywhere in the world.

I first heard this song as I walking around in the Kensington area of London in 1998. Kensington Park, I wanted to find an outfit that I could get a horse and ride through the park. People riding everywhere, and I couldn't hire a horse for the life of me. But I heard this song, and now every time I hear it, it reminds me of Kensington Park, and seeing so gosh-darned many Canada Geese, (which we have an over abundance of here in Canada,), and magpies, and mute swans, and twisty old oak trees. The song brings back SOOOO many memories. Plus, the song itself is just soooo great.
