  • Quick video today of installing the EMPI "Accelerator Pedal Repair Kit" available from JBugs.com. The installation of the pedal spring is not very intuitive and I couldn't find any other videos or instructions for it online. Figured it out though, I tried to capture as much of an explanation as possible to help someone else avoid frustration. There is another pin in the kit I didn't see a need for, but it's probably to repair something I haven't had an issue with yet, so I just saved it.

At 5:39 that’s the shaft for the roller, you need to remove the old one.

I guess it would be too difficult for the manufacturer of this kit to include instructions on how it's installed. Your video is pretty clear on how it needs to be done. We were able to get it all together following your video. Thanks!

Awesome, good to hear! This is my second most popular video which definitely speaks to the need for instructions. People get the kit and are like...ok what do I do now? lol

Did the new pin get rid of the slop in the pedal? Or is the pedal supposed to have slop so it doesn't bind?

Replacing all of those parts did help tighten things up a bit. I also ended up bending that piece I mention at 1:20 to the right JUST a tiny bit to make sure it rides the black wheel properly. Haven't had any issues since making this video. Everything is nice and smooth.

@@Air-CooledAdventures good. I have a chip in my roller and a bolt where the pin should be in the pedal. I ordered some parts to do this. The pedal feels fine though. I notice you cut the vid with the spring. Is the pin hard to get in?

Yeah man. I cut the video so I could stop and figure out how the spring is supposed to fit. lol It's not super intuitive unfortunately. Once I started recording again though I did go back and show exactly how it fits. Check at about 8:20. I take it back off the tab and show how it lays in its natural shape, then I pull it back up where it fits into the tab.

Still waiting on my pin roller and spring. Some dimwit has a undersized bolt in mine. It looks like the pin is loose fitting in yours? I'll need to test for mine to see if that pin stays tight enough when it gets here. My worry is the pin won't be tight enough in all the holes to keep it all in place. Thanks.

@@Air-CooledAdventures got it all together. Pretty easy. Worst part (not that bad) was positioning the spring while in a tight spot.

Ha ha. You’re right. Sometimes people are terrible at explaining their “how to” videos.
