Owned several over my life. Loads of fun to drive and wrench on as needed. Is it still considered most produced car in history?
Yes
Just purchased a VW 1961 and it looks bad !!!’ Strong engine : the sound is amazing. !!! My neighbors know when I.m coming home. !!!!
You need to do more videos on the vw engine design, thanks for doing this one!👍
Proudly have some of the baddest aircooled engines ever built in my garage
I see. I thought that these were cooled purely by the air rushing past like motorcycle engines.
Weird? Pure genius!
That car heater that uses the engine's heat exhaust to warm up the heat exchanger . . . _watch out_ for carbon monoxide poisoning, as that was an issue with the '67 Beetle I had.
Simple and elegant. No wonder it still works around Dresden
i just bought a bug and want to learn but I know nothing about cars and I am so over whelmed. I don’t understand any of this.
They are built to work on. And you have millions of new friends
Don’t get overwhelmed. Break it down to the absolute basics; a Beetle is literally nothing more than a body, engine and wheels. They are the simplest vehicles ever made, arguably. No coolant. No ac. No nothing. Hell they don’t even have a heater, they use exhaust heat to “heat” the car.
It’s a go cart with a covered body
Look for a book called "How to keep your Volkswagen alive - A manual of Step by step procedures for the complete idiot" by John Muir AKA "The Idiots Manual".
The guy was an old hippie, his explanations were simple and comical and his diagrams and artworks are amazing.
Get the Chilton's and the Haynes manuals also, but the Idiots Manual is the Bible.
@@gimpygardner3377that book is gold!! How to keep your Volkswagen alive 👍
Who is this aimed at you got a dog Sat there
Junky motors beat themselves to death..
Mine's so junky it's been running going on 43 years now, well over 170,000 miles on it; same engine, never taken apart. Still going strong; beating itself to death I suppose.
Take care of them and they just run forever 👍
