Having watched their rise from the beginning it the Dixie District, the best answer we ever got was it stands for FRED! A comedy quartet of four really enthusiatic dudes that sing fanasticaly well. I approached the bass after the show and told him I was a barbershop director and we went into the foyer to find the other guys so we could sing together. I held my own really well but I was panicking that I would screw it up!! What a great bunch of guys!

That's how I feel about them, Gas House Gang and Keepsake. Keepsake totally should've won in '91 and GHG in '92, but, since they were both robbed of the title in those years, they came back with even better material.

Literally, the contest took a break and encouraged the audience to go outside and watch the fireworks in downtown. FRED appeared after the break.

I got to meet the baritone at my hotel this year for the regional competition. A very nice and funny guy, and of course a great performer.
