A tip for adding the zipper pull. Cut one zipper ends about 3/4 inch and the other 1/2 inch longer than the edge you are attaching it too.First put the pull on the longer end ,move pull to the shorter end . Still a little fiddly but you have more finger room to grab.OOPS The comment below by Linda says it it all but in fewer words. Thank You Karen and Linda.
Karen!!! Where have I been? I’m so happy to have found your videos. I’ve been quilting for a long time, but I readily admit that I need ongoing tips and tricks! Thank you, and I look forward to making my way through your playlist! Happy quilting! Donna in Plymouth, MA
Good day, you were referred to me by a commenter on another site. She mentioned you may have a video about fixing antique quilts with burn holes. I am hoping you are able to help. Thank you and have a nice day.
Lovely idea Karen A little tip I picked up from google for putting on the zip pull. You use a fork and slip the pro gs into the slide etc. So inexpensive as everyone has a fork. Best of all it worked.
Brilliant! I love these pouches. Also, modern wool is probably my favorite fabric and I had no idea you could buy it in rolls! ❤ Would you believe it has never occurred to me to trim a zipper to the exact size I want? And you thought you were just doing a lesson on pouches, didn't you. 😊 Thanks again for a great informative tutorial.
I love small quick projects, especially bags, pouches, and containers. I just love the one made from a triangle. I do not have any wool felt so I will have to improvise as I want to use what I have.
loved this tutorial....I never use decorative stitches but these projects are great for them! and as for felt, your ideas/projects for it were great. Thank you so much :)
“How cute is that iPad cover?” was my initial thought, followed by, “Karen Brown never ceases to amaze me, followed by my head exploding when she did that hocus-pocus with a single-sided zipper. I think I need some ginko biloba so my brain can catch up. Goodness sakes!
Felt is a super good idea. Easy seams and protection all in one. I just tought of something. I kept some nice thick wool fabric pieces for doing mittins. ( that I won't do ) I can "boil" them to shrink the hell out of them. Might work !?. It's not called boiled wool for nothing.
So how do you keep all the little pouches "corralled"? I'm afraid I might end up leaving a trail of pouches. They are sooooo cute, and I love the zipper help suggetions below.
@@JustGetitDoneQuilts Yes, and good riddance to them! There is, however, a lot of technology that uses some internal magnetic memory. I tend to err on the side of caution, having had more than one incident with magnets affecting credit cards, phones, and yes, my tablet. The newest tech toys are much much better and much less susceptible to magnetic damage, thank goodness. I do love the pouch. I have a couple made of felt, but being unfamiliar with it, have never sewn it. You make it very accessible, thank you.
Was wondering if you are able to use just one long piece for smaller pads instead of cutting two separate pieces . That way you have on less seam to sew.
@@JustGetitDoneQuilts. Thank you for telling me about not being able to fold this due to the thickness. . Have never worked with this material. Good to know.
I likely missed in a previous video (just found you recently and trying to watch all the old stuff) but where did you get that triangle chalk? I feel like I’ve tried a thousand different writing utensils and none of them work but that one looked so smooth!
Your computer or your tablet IS the pattern, they come in so many different sizes. Add the seam allowance, 1", and check the fit. Karen also clearly stated the measurements for the in-ear headphones pouch.
Acrylic felt. I dont know if it comes in as many thickness. But you can buy it in 8x11 sheets at most craft stores. And as yardage at JoAnns or Hobby Lobby and some quilting shops.
@@trinam2503 Crafts stores are most probably not wool (expensive ) For added thickness, maybe 2 layers in different colors could be enough and a nice touch.
@@JustGetitDoneQuilts I have so many friends and family allergic to wool, so I have never used it. I know felt yardage is thicker than the crafting sheets. And I have used it too make gift baskets. Was trying to suggest another option. Good to know the felt wont be as strong as wool. 👍
What a clever little pouch! Stocking filler!😁❤😁
Oh I love these tips. Thanks so much. Can’t wait to give it a try. ❤
Really cute pouch ideas. If you leave the zippers long, it’s easier to attach the head. Cut the ends after the head is installed.
Wonderful tip!
Great ideas! Thank for sharing 🙏

Thank you. This time I didn’t have a larger zipper to use but I will definitely try for larger next time
Love the pouches! Does your brain ever stop thinking of great ideas! You send me down many rabbit holes.....
As long as you have some carrots in your pockets... 😂
Very clever! Quilters are extremely talented!
I soooo wish I had an imagination like this!! Awesome work Karen!!
Bless you Karen for sharing your talents. ❤
I had never heard of a felt store
Love these pouches and sleeves. Wonderful not to have any raw edges.
Great ideas Karen. Pouches are so cute and versatile 👏♥️🇦🇺
These are great! Thank you so much for sharing💖
So very cute and clever! I love them.
These will make awesome Christmas gifts--thank you Karen!
I’ve made pouches before, but never thought of using wool felt. Thank you!
A kitchen fork works great for starting the zipper
You are amazing! I can’t wait to try your pouches!
Wow 🤯 You have done a fantastic job creating as well as explaining all of these beautiful items.
Great ideas and no linings needed.
Really cool pouches!

I enjoyed this video. It was nice to have small projects and not quilts for a change.

❤ def going to try those!
These are ace! I love them 😍 ❤
I had no idea that there was a place to buy beautiful wool felt I. Different weights…so many ideas now!
Cute pouches😊
Thanks for another great video! Enjoy your trip.

Can you do a sewing video for a Stanley cup holder/carry with strap?

A fantastic tutorial! I really like all the pouches you made! Thank you so much!!!!
These are so cool! and, relatively easy! thanks for sharing.
Great pouches and beautiful stitching!!!!
Oh wow!! That's me buying felt this weekend!! i absolutely love those little pouches - I can think of so many uses for them ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Great project 😊
This is an awesome and informative video! Thanks for the content!
Glad to see a video like this. ❤❤❤
Karen, you are amazing !
Cool pouches
Karen, have you done a video on thread weights and needle sizes? I've been sewing nearly my entire life and they still trip me up!
I hopefully will have them in August

Love it !
i have never used felt so I am anxious to try this. Thx for another great tutorial!
Such pretty bags, have you thought maybe putting loops or I think they might be called toggles?
Yes, and hang a pretty little charm on them just for fun!
Winner pouches ❤

Your pouches are very cute! I will be trying them out for my trip to Iceland next year.
Love these! Seeing how you used the felt really got my gears turning, and now I'm going to have to try to source some wool felt in my area!
Really great ideas. I love the triangular pouches! Will have to give this a try.
Great ideas!
Great video.

Sew cute!!!
Don't you just love binder clips? They have SO MANY uses other than what they were made for lol.
I'm sure you've checked, but I was always taught to keep magnets far far away from any computer/electronic memory that I wanted to keep.
We are long past magnetic floppies. These small magnets will not hurt today’s electronics
@@JustGetitDoneQuilts Yes, and good riddance to them! There is, however, a lot of technology that uses some internal magnetic memory. The thicker felt is hard to get a smooth fold out of...and you could not do rounded corners either
@@JustGetitDoneQuilts. Thank you for telling me about not being able to fold this due to the thickness. . Have never worked with this material. Good to know.
I love these pouches! Is there a formula to determine the size triangle needed for the boxing corners?
Have you tried using the tines of a regular fork for tricky zipper pulls?
I am next time. I need longer zippers to try that method
Bend a fork and clamp it to your table. Tada you made your own zipper jig. And…..The Felt Store???? Off to check shipping costs to the US.
They have a US warehouse
It's easier to add the zipper pull before the zipper is trimmed to size.
If I had had longer zippers. I would have left them longer.
Are magnetic closures a problem for cell phones or other electronics?
not these ones
Will this heavy felt work for a knife sheath ( as a substitute for leather)? Sometimes asked me to make them a knife sheath for their camping knife.
I would try it. I would start with the 3mm
I just found you and love it, but can’t find the subscribe button. Any tips?
Is it OK to have 3 magnets in close proximity to your i-pad?
Yes. I would keep I big hunk of magnet that they use for treasure hunting away but small ones are fine. My iPad keyboard actually includes magnets
Is a magnet ok to have on your IPad?
Yes…as long as it’s not massive
I likely missed in a previous video (just found you recently and trying to watch all the old stuff) but where did you get that triangle chalk? I feel like I’ve tried a thousand different writing utensils and none of them work but that one looked so smooth!
I just bought it from Amazon. It came in a pack of 6.
I tried a gadget and it didn't work for me so I just fuss with it until it works lol.
Shouldn't magnets be kept away from electronics? 🤔
Nope. That's old information. Nowday's it's not a problem...especially ones as tiny as these
They say you can use a fork with zippers?
Yes, and a longer zipper. Next time I'll test that out
👍🏿❤
Looking for corner square templates you used to round the corners. Where can I find it please?
Oops, meant to say quarter square templates. I’ve never seen nor heard of a felt around us.
To bad you couldn’t put your pattern out so people could download an make it themselves I would find it a lot easier
Your computer or your tablet IS the pattern, they come in so many different sizes. Add the seam allowance, 1", and check the fit.
Karen also clearly stated the measurements for the in-ear headphones pouch.
Any other material possible? I am highly allergic to wool.
I thixwnksyou coul use fabric just a few more steps ot you could try vinyl (like a table cloth) they might work

The trick is the strength. Craft felt is too thin
