Small correction my friend! It's Westminster Abbey, not Westminster Cathedral. The Abbey is church of England, nearly 1000 years old, and is where many British icons are buried, where we have our coronations and funerals too. Westminster Cathedral is about 1km away in Victoria. It's from the 1800s, and it's the Roman Catholic cathedral for London. Built in a Byzantine style and packed full of gorgeous mosaic artwork. It's free entry so check it out next time you're in our beautiful city!
Hey Ms. Karen--this video is bringing tears to my eyes. When you hit the map of Orkney, they really started falling. I live in the Western Isles and would have loved to hug your neck as your videos give me hope that even I can make great quilts. Thank you for your ambassadorship for the love of quilting, safe travels home, and many blessings to you and your fab husband who saved the day!!! Hope to catch you on another cruise someday (then I can boo hoo in person!!!).
My husband and I took a cruise to Alaska. He wanted to do this before he had to start dialysis. Believe it or not we managed to do some traveling after dialysis, but it was a lot of planning to make those trips possible. I enjoy your quilting videos and it's amazing how much quilting and website design have in common. Thanks for all you do.
Sounds like a fun trip. Iceland, Ireland, and Scotland are bucket list items for me, even though I know I'll never get there. How wonderful your husband jumped in and saved the day on your rulers!
Looks like a blast, and I love the scooters! Folks in Europe and Asia seem to use these as a major travel resource and have for years! What a fun trip you had😊
Greetings from Australia 🇦🇺. Thank you so much for all your wonderful videos Karen. I really love your content and appreciate all of your great tips and advice.
What a trip! Wish I had gone. Karen would you have a link to share to the incredible notions box you displayed? I’d love to buy one of those for some sewing friends and myself. Hoping to enjoy one of your future trips. Thanks for all your efforts on your trip planning and the overview of all your stops.
Wow! What a wonderful vlog, amazing trip! I’m watching this video while marking my next sewing project, boy…. You are right it makes a huge difference to watch your video along 🤩 thank you for this virtual trip 💕
Thank you for this video of your trip. I was wondering if the Blue Lagoon would be open. Last quilt cruise I took was in 2008. Always a great time. Marion in Oregon
Thank you for sharing your experience of the trip. Those of us that can't travel, live thru your fun . Was wonderfully narrative for the experiences you had. Loved it
That sling bag has caught my attention, but more to the point, this cruise looks absolutely fabulous (but you don't need me to tell you that!). I tell my 18 yr old that I'm making a list of all the things I would like from her when she's rich and famous 😂 this is officially on the list!
This was the trip I was hoping to join you on. Maybe next year. Did you see the northern lights? I would love to see their kaleidoscope quilts when they finish them.
My favourite Canadian pillows are designed by Debbie Woods, A quilters Home her Canadian Critters are adorable . You should check her out,a wonderful lady and designer ❤
Sorry you didn’t have a chance to visit Kirkwall itself, it’s a lovely town. Glad you had a lovely time though. We have had lots of cruise liners visit Orkney this year already with quite a few more due this month. I have been working in an art gallery one day a week in Kirkwall this summer, and it’s very noticeable when the boats are in! Still, it’s lovely to meet all the different people from around the world, especially those who decide to pop into our little gallery just up from the shore. The most we have had visiting town in one day this year so far was just a bit over 6,000, quite a lot when you consider the population of Kirkwall is around 10,000 and the total Orkney population is about 22,000!
@@JustGetitDoneQuilts - it sort of does, but we could do with the tourists spending more in the shops and restaurants (& galleries!). There’s been talk of imposing a tourist tax, only £1 per head would bring in much needed income to the islands. I see you went to the Brough of Birsay, did you visit the Ness of Brodgar and see the excavations there? It’s the 20th year of work there and this year it will all be covered over permanently to protect the site. Archaeologists in the future may well want to explore the area further in the future. This could be in 10, 20 years time…or even 50!! In the meantime, those working on it now will carry on analysing what they have found to try and make sense of all the information. With now 40 identified individual buildings many on top of each other, there’s a lot to go through!!
Love your logan bag. I watched that interview and bought the pattern. Making the bag just about killed me. There was a tutorial online that I followed that helped me limp through despite the fact that the sewist was using black fabric, bad lighting, and a not-great camera angle.
Did you bring a scooter home? Hope you at least fondled the yarn.... mmmmmm soft. All of the blocks are just beautiful. Full of envy that I couls not join you and the group due to health problems. But I will enjoy the video over and over until I fell like I was there. Thanks for taking the video and sharing. (And kudos to your husband for his genious solution to your template situation.)
If you want to have the best travel time ever Travel with Karen. As a solo traveler I just 💕traveling with her. Why don’t you join us on her next cruise. I have met so many wonderful fellow Quilters. Her husband Tam is a gem. Ray and John RGE Travels take super care of everything🎉
I'm a German fan and absolutely loved this video. Is it possible to join a cruise in Europe, let's say London for this last trip, or do participants have to fly over from Canada?
Wait wait wait, what the what?? And how much money and time did you waste on these stupid rulers?? Why would any of us trust any of these rulers ever again? That’s just horrible! Thank goodness you can 3-D print, but what a waste!
@@judyangle8911 I agree. It’s just that a young friend of mine rode without a helmet which in most situations would not end badly. But in his case it did and he will never recover. Sometimes your own actions don’t contribute to an accident, it’s other road users which impact you.
If this is all you noticed in the video, you just need to mind your own business & move along. Adults are able to make their own decisions. This was a fun sharing of a great trip. Thank you Karen!🥰☕️
Thank you for your concern but we didn't have any helmets with us. And with my husband's accessibility issues, it made a big difference in my enjoyment of the trip...video is also sped up 800%

This was great.
It looks like you had a wonderful time and yay for hubby figuring out the template issue for you and printing them for everybody - a true hero.
Karen you look fabulous with your Logan Sling!!! Thank you for sharing it!
I want to make another one in waxed canvas

Such a fabulous trip and so pleased to be part of it. ❤
You were a special part of it. I hope that we get to do another one together
Hi Karen, your trip looked wonderful. The picture of the mosaic on the floor give you any ideas for a Helier quilt?! Glad your BACK safe.
I usually come home with at least 10 photos of floors, carpet, ceilings etc thinking…maybe I can quilt that ☺️
What fun. Thank you for taking us along on RUclips ❤
Thank you for sharing your trip. God bless your husband for helping you out.

Some appear to fit whole families on them. It really helped as my husband has accessibility issues

What a wonderful cruise!
It was so wonderful on so many levels
Congratulations! That was a wonderful trip for you and your husband.
Will you share with us your latest quilt or a pattern tutorial soon?
No…not for awhile
I’m so glad you had a great time on yr cruise. Everything and everyone seemed just so. Welcome back!
Glad to see you had a great time.

This was a fabulous video. I’ve been on a few cruises but not for about the past 12 years. I would love to go on a quilting one.
They have been pretty special
Lovely quilt blocks and wonderful scenery! Seems like a great trip was had by all!

Can we get the Kapella Cluster Quilt Pattern? It’s beautiful.
Not yet. It was exclusive for one year for the cruise attendees
Awesome! Wonderful pictures….
Thank you! Cheers!

We had 24 hour daylight so unfortunately no northern lights.

👍
Thank you for sharing.
One day when I’m retired I will take a sewing cruise. Still working and already my cruises booked with hubby.
Wonderful!
What a great trip! 🎉
Oh boy! Can you have your husband show us how he made the templates? I'd really like to be able to do it sometime. --- Wonderful show!

Hi Karen!
Hi Karen 👋
We were on the Apex from July 8th to July 20th!
Beautiful ship. I hope you had better weather than we did
Is there more information about the Canada pillow?
Wuhuuu - Copenhagen next. If you need recommendations, give me a shout 💪🇩🇰

Not at all. You fly or drive from where you are

I wondered about you

I try to buy Olfa or creative grids when I can as I trust them to get the measurements correct
All that advertising...
No helmets while riding electric scooter? Look at the accident stats.
I think she is old enough to make her own decisions without your judgement.
