I really enjoy all of your reviews, great job. I’ve been gaming on a 55” LG OLED C2 and it’s been difficult to find a decent monitor that would live up to the C2. I think I’m leaning towards this monitor.
I've had mine for like a week and... It's *almost* perfect, inky blacks, no blooming, beautiful colors, the gaming experience, movies (sometimes when I get stressed in my office lol), I like the little remote... @@wowitsruss You'll see a lot better black contrasts as well as the colours are crisp and clear. With a matte finish blacks appear more greyish if there's even slightly light hitting the panel and the colours are not as crisp as well. With glossy panel you'll see reflections yes, but if you use the oled panel like it's meant to, in a low lit room, that won't be a problem.
Nice review of 2023 OLED monitor Chris. This looks like a complete package. Although I personally prefer glossy screen for OLEDs but I get it that it is essential to have a matte screen.
It's not essential if you start using proper brightness unlike most monitors stuck in 1999 with 250 nits and proper anti reflective treatment like on OLED TVs. Monitor companies still think the only way to tackle reflections is with milky paper. This monitor has a peak brightness of 1000 nits. Its average brightness performance is more than enough
I don't understand why they decided on a matte finish. That's a bust for me. Once I went glossy, I can't go back. The picture quality is just so pristine. Almost perfect monitor =/
Agreed. With the high brightness who needs a matte screen? Give us a glossy screen instead for OLED or at least give us a choice. The endgame OLED for me tho is a 32" 4K 240Hz monitor. In the meantime I would even take 120Hz. 27" is nice if you sit closer or have younger eyes but I now need 32" hehe. I do admit that 27" would fit my current setup better but I could always buy a bigger desk right? 😃 Plus I actually sit further away from my desk as I use a keyboard tray.
@@iknowmyname7 OLED's average is 600 nits. Phillips is planning a 1000 nit OLED TV. That is very good for handling reflections and combine that with the fact that the PC environment is more flexible with window shutters/shades, movability. The problem is many companies are starting to release OLED monitors at 250-350 nits. That is simply not enough and there are more revolutionary changes happening in the TV market vs monitor.
Nice review, thank you. Looks like a great piece of kit from LG. Love the quality of OLED, the burn in risk is being managed well. However, I’d like to see more 3 year warranties, much like Alienware does. That gives a lot more confidence to purchase when you know there will be static elements on screen, gaming or productivity wise.
Very cool monitor, would love to try it out but i feel that the 240HZ are kind of "wasted" on a console, it is more of a PC product if i could categorize it, it looks cool though. No reason for me right now to upgrade since I currently own an Odyssey Neo G8 which is still really good for gaming. I also own a 77" LG C2 OLED TV and the glossy coating just looks much better on OLEDs...
Quite an impressive monitor, the only complaint that I have with it is the lack of 4K resolution. I know at some point in 2023 a 4K variant will be released, so I would rather hold off purchasing until that model is released.
@lgquelhas matte screens dont have that extra crisp that glossy panels have. I'd argue you're essentially nerfing the the panel by making it matte. When the last time you've seen a matte finish on a phone? Glossy is the way to go
Considering the issue with text fringing - I wouldnt use it for productivity - so its just for gaming - and considering the appeal for FPS gamers - then 27" is the right size - and 1440p is also perfect - since 4K requires the best hardware, and its even possible to run 720p with no interpolation. - 45" is silly though. - Give me a 35" curved 4K thats 16:10 - and fix the fonts - and that will tick all boxes for me.

2023 OLED 😍, I always watch your videos to the end. This definitely the monitor for me . I gamed on an LG OLED 32inch in a certain gamers event and I loved it. I hope to one day get one. Thanks for the great video as always.
Thanks for watching too!
I really enjoy all of your reviews, great job. I’ve been gaming on a 55” LG OLED C2 and it’s been difficult to find a decent monitor that would live up to the C2. I personally think the 42” C2 would be too large on a desk. I’m glad you explained that 4K isn’t necessary on a 27” screen as that has been a question of mine. I think I’m leaning towards this monitor.
I've had mine for like a week and... It's *almost* perfect, inky blacks, no blooming, beautiful colors, the gaming experience, movies (sometimes when I get stressed in my office lol), I like the little remote... But no 4k display really is a bummer😔 It's not that big of a deal tbh but just knowing that this would be the perfect monitor if it had a 4k display and a thunderbolt port just feels like when you step on gum while walking and it's on your mind every step you take lol but nonetheless, I don't see myself changing monitors in the near future. I have the XDR Display and I enjoy this one way more (and it was cheaper hehe)
you dont need 4k in a 27" monitor
lol stepping on gum! I get what you mean about the lack of 4K, but the clarity 'almost' makes up for it. It's sharp and I too won't be swapping this (long term) for a while. I might review others, but this is the one for me.
@@Speedy94uru And I don't need a 2 story house. I don't need 2 monitors. I don't need my PS5 or my xbox lmao this is about *wanting* a better experience, there *is* a difference, just not a big one🤷🏻♂️ But, I still want it.
@@SpawnPoiint Yup, the clarity is amazing. Great quality👌🏻 And same, actually I think I'll just take this one home lol and keep testing whatever comes out in the future for my office. LG has my heart rn tbh.
@@SpawnPoiint Thanks for the review! I am really torn between LG32GQ950 and this one, I want to downsize from LGC1 it is too big and text is not clear as I would like it to be. Watched your review of LG32GQ950 and I really like it but it is a trade off that I am not sure I am willing to make. I really like 4k and 32 is nice size for it, dunno first world problems. :D 2023 OLED :D
Hopefully they release the glossy version as well so we can get an alternative for the matte version.
hey what are the benifits of glossy? does it blend in well better than matte?
@@wowitsruss You'll see a lot better black contrasts as well as the colours are crisp and clear. With a matte finish blacks appear more greyish if there's even slightly light hitting the panel and the colours are not as crisp as well. With glossy panel you'll see reflections yes, but if you use the oled panel like it's meant to, in a low lit room, that won't be a problem.
2023 OLED. Thinking of getting this in 2024 or one of LG’s newer OLED monitors
Nice review of 2023 OLED monitor Chris. This looks like a complete package. Although I personally prefer glossy screen for OLEDs but I get it that it is essential to have a matte screen.
I agree, I prefer glossy over matte.
Y is is essential?
It's not essential if you start using proper brightness unlike most monitors stuck in 1999 with 250 nits and proper anti reflective treatment like on OLED TVs. Monitor companies still think the only way to tackle reflections is with milky paper. This monitor has a peak brightness of 1000 nits. Its average brightness performance is more than enough
Super tempted to getting this just want to see if someone can make a long-term review months later to see if it's truly worth it.
Yea, we need to see burn in results and wait for the hype to die down
@@FesteringRatSub there are already wide burn in tests for oled monitors and screens on rtings, this isn’t different.
I’ve got the 27 inch MSI gaming monitor but I want this one… looks fantastic
Amazing review. Loads of information but yet straight to the point. Great work.
Thanks 🙏
2023 oled love all of your videos they just make my day
Thanks for the support 🙏
Its because oled get less bright than traditional LED. Only QOLED comes close
2023 OLED. This is definitely on my list when I upgrade my current monitors!
Nice 2023 OLED monitor. I just bought a 55" C2 for my PS5 setup, but will definitely getting this when it comes out in my country. Great review Chris!
I’m getting the c2 to replace my current tv and won’t get a 27 in I’m good with my gp950
How does picture quality stack up against 42" C2
I watched this when it first came out and I was able to cop it today at 40% off msrp, super hype to get it, awesome review
This is awesome. Would love a 32"
Same, 27 isn't tall enough for me
Great monitor! 👍
i ordered one and im still waiting for it to arrive, can't wait.
Can you compare this to the LG 27GP950?
2023 OLED 🙏🏾 enjoy these videos to see if I should upgrade my monitor so they’re very helfup

A bloody amazing monitor. I can see this panel being popular among gamers.
I totally agree!
the anti glare screen will make look everything shitty unfortunately
@@SonGoku544 Not at all. Matte screens are very pleasant and comfortable to the eyes.
@@lgquelhas lol good joke, if you like that blurry look maybe, i prefer an crisp and clear image

Appreciate that
If it was 4k this will be the best monitor in the life
Incredible video! I really enjoyed it.
Very cool monitor, would love to try it out but i feel that the 240HZ are kind of "wasted" on a console, it is more of a PC product if i could categorize it, it looks cool though. Also, i think the PS5 dosen't support VRR for 1440p resolution (right now at least) so only a series X/S could really take advantage of it.
PS5 does support VRR now btw. They made it capable on a recent update.
@@cyril6164 i know it does in 1080p and 4k resolution but not in 1440p.
@@Th3FairyLaw isnt that because every 1440p released to this day had hdmi 2.0 at best?
@@kamisuki911 I just bought Gigabye FI320Q-X 32" 1440P 270 Hz, DP 1.4, HDMI 2.1 x2 and built in KVM (KVM is why I bought it). Pretty good but not great monitor (coming from a 42' LG C2 that was amazing but just to big).
@@kamisuki911 i don't i know, i just googled and it said that VRR isn't supported on PS5 for 1440p. You can play games on 120 fps though with HDMI 2.0 using a 1440p monitor, you only need HDMI 2.1 for 4k 120fps. Also 1080p supports VRR and doesnt need HDMI 2.1
27 inch 4k 240hz glossy screen like the c1 would be perfect for me. Its an all in one for me then. Im console and pc player

thanks so much for including the minimum and maximum height specs fam
Ive been keeping an eye on this monitor and your the first to put up a proper in depth review so congrats on that mate, do we know when and where we can preorder this in the UK ? Also how is the HDR on this ? would you say its the same as the c2?

Would be nice to see a glossy screen next time.
I love how this monitor has optic sound for my A50s

Man LG is killing it!!
Awesome video review! How is the ABL (automatic brightness limiter) on this monitor, especially during productivity sessions?
I know thats going to get skipped over, Same with burn in questions. Though this monitor looks insane. The burn in would be a issue for a desktop monitor and the icons etc. Ya couldn't do it. I had a LG CX and lightly was getting burn in from light use with the pc so that was out of the picture.

You won't even tell a difference at 4k 27 better off 1440p 27 and 4k 32 or 42

I own both and it doesn’t make too much sense.

2023 OLED. Thanks for the great review, Chris.
Thanks for watching!
I have this on preorder! Hard to tell from the video, but hoping the anti-glare coating isn’t too bad. LG’s seem to have a different/thicker coating than the Asus’. Going to give this a try.
Are you based in the UK? I would like to pre order to.
@@Buxtonchappy1 same but can’t find anything about UK Pre orders
Congrats, I really wish that, but for me, 999 dollars are too expensive, that should be reduced to half to make me buy, my country has lots of taxes
This is the perfect monitor the only thing that ruins it is the price
It looks and sounds like an amazing monitor, but the lack of 4K does have me skeptical. I’ll probably come off of that hangup when I’m looking for a monitor for my future setup. Awesome video!
you dont need 4k on 27 inch
@@csch92 very fair point. I don’t have any experience with monitors made strictly for gaming, so this would probably be the perfect one for me. Probably wouldn’t even notice 1440p, especially for FPS

Wanted to ask should I consider this over the LG GP950 or any other 4K monitor
Just when I was thinking of buying a 4K Monitor, this launched,
I specifically am asking this for PS5 and I only play Call of Duty and Warzone!
Plus would you prefer this over the GP 950 for FPS games?.OLED 2023.
What did you go for
I got it for 250 from an auction site. What a steal so worth it
2023 OLED! As expected, this looks stunning. Even though I agree that 1440P at this size is perfectly fine (and the fact you’re only really gonna be playing CoD on it), I do feel that the lack of 4K will put a lot of people off.
Myself included if I’m honest. I was gonna opt for this over the 32GQ950 but as you know, I’ve wanted to go back to 32” for some time now, especially after trying yours out. When a 4K 32” OLED becomes available, I’ll be all over it 110%
What put me off is mainly the SDR brightness. Resolution is fine for the size.
@@xtrmlvr SDR brightness is fine

Great review can't wait to get a 2023 OLED ;) namely this one once Best Buy gets them in stock. Already being a Totaltech customer this covers the burn in issue. Currently use an LG 27GP950 and was wondering if the firmware updates the same just using the on screen controls?
It’s very similar to the GP950
Bought this yesterday after watching your vid
I was waiting for this video!!!!! Thank you for the amazing review! Happy New Year!!! Its ashame they put the anti-glare over it. It looks a bit glossy and ruins the beauty of it, But still a beast
2023 oled great video as always mate 👍
Thanks Chris!
If they can make this at 32" 4K and still retain the 240Hz refresh rate and all the other gaming features + glossy coating... then I'll pre-order...
No reason for me right now to upgrade since I currently own an Odyssey Neo G8 which is still really good for gaming.
I also own a 77" LG C2 OLED TV and the glossy coating just looks much better on OLEDs...
Great video, definitely drooling over that monitor xD
Quite an impressive monitor, the only complaint that I have with it is the lack of 4K resolution. I know at some point in 2023 a 4K variant will be released, so I would rather hold off purchasing until that model is released.
For a 27 inch monitor I don’t think you really need 4k
I just bought the LG 48" 4kOLED gaming monitor. Didnt get it delivered yet. Hope it will be good 🥶🥳
Was interested until you said matte display, no thanks
It will certainly split people!
how do you game when all you can see is yourself in a reflection 😫
@@turboxide It’s really not that bad, and a black silhouette reflection is much more appealing than a washed out matte display
I love you SpawnPoiint!
Matte screen is a huge deal breaker. I'd rather get a lg c2 42 inch for the same price or cheaper
Why? Matte screens are very pleasant and comfortable to the eyes.
@lgquelhas matte screens dont have that extra crisp that glossy panels have. I'd argue you're essentially nerfing the the panel by making it matte. When the last time you've seen a matte finish on a phone? Glossy is the way to go
@@lgquelhas If you feel that way why not just use a software filter (even built-in filters) or wear glasses?
This
Considering the issue with text fringing - I wouldnt use it for productivity - so its just for gaming - and considering the appeal for FPS gamers - then 27" is the right size - and 1440p is also perfect - since 4K requires the best hardware, and its even possible to run 720p with no interpolation. - 45" is silly though. - Give me a 35" curved 4K thats 16:10 - and fix the fonts - and that will tick all boxes for me.
Jeez, really tempted by this.
2023 oled👍🏼 thanks for your videos, they’re top quality!
2023 OLED. @spawnpoiint, do you prefer this or the GQ950 for productivity? I imagine you prefer this for gaming but just wondering as I still have time to return my GQ950 and maybe switch to this, but for productivity, I think the bigger screen and 4k are great on the GQ950 😵💫.. and I already have the LG CX oled if i want all that contrast and benefits of oled when playing single player games.
If I was using it for work/productivity, I'd stick with the GQ950. So I'd stick with what you have imo
wow thanks for the super fast response! makes sense, thank you 🙏
