    This material is incredible! I am applying it all to “reparent” myself and teach my own Inner Voice to speak kindly and affirmatively to myself. Raised by a pathologically narcissistic mother who gave me 99% negative communication about myself, this reparenting is assisting me in developing communication skills stunted by such a parent. Thank you!

      I'm glad it's helpful, Kat. We just did a more recent updated series on positive communication. It's more focused on leaders, but there's a lot there to dig into. You can find it on the *_videos_* tab of my channel page.

    Mr . Julien is energetic I believe he comes under the category of relator ( one of the commu styles) thanks for having him with us today. As I requested earlier could you plz make video on myth about communication? Myth is technically great or smart ppl say that I don't need to have strong communication skills I design car, I design AI ,robots, spaceship or I am a software guy I can speak better n so my machines or codes. Technical skills > Soft skills... Here, in India people have this kind of mindset whether u greet them, ask questions or start ur presentation with story. How to break that ego?

    • @alexanderlyon

    • @supriyac5452
      @supriyac5452 2 года назад

      Well that's ture, people do think that communication comes last on the list of a programmer or engineer or even a doctor caus their 'technical' knowledge is what serves them but, That's true only partially.

      I'm not sure. If I were you, I would make the best plan I could based upon the situations you are in (e.g., conversation, meeting, presentation, etc.). Use the basic principles and tailor them to your specific situation.

  • @isand2015

    When others purposely talk over you let them. If they don't pause and apologize, it is a sign of disrespect. They believe that what they have to say is more important than listening to you.
    Don't get offended
    Let your silence speak for you.

    The idea of texting emailing or calling someone to say ‘I’m contacting you to say how grateful I am to have you in my life’ seems very unrealistic to me. There are only a few people in my life who I genuinely feel that way about - and if I did that to them they would probably think it was weird & creepy and not want to be in my life any longer! I’d feel a bit creeped out if someone did that to me - especially more than once. When you have a great relationship with someone they generally know it and you know it and you don’t need to say it so explicitly.
    Saying that kind of thing to people mostly just makes them wonder what you want and it can also come across as manipulative. Imo.

    • @alexanderlyon
      @alexanderlyon  2 года назад

      It may not be the most common type of text message to receive but I'm very grateful that I have received some texts and messages like that over the years. In other words, some people do it. The genuineness of the message came through. There was no hint of manipulation. These were good people saying kind things to me.

    • @universaltruth2025
      @universaltruth2025 2 года назад

      @@alexanderlyon I’m sure in that case they were genuine, but I really think saying things like would be something that only a very few people could carry off in a genuine way. Ie who are highly agreeable, conscientious and extroverted. I don’t think that combination of personality traits is that common - hence for most people it would be out of character to do that. I only know one person who would say that kind of thing and who could make it sound genuine. I had another friend who would study up on these techniques and sometimes try to use them to ‘win people over’ but was clearly being manipulative as her true feelings would show when her guard was down.

      Could you preface it with something that says you know it might be a bit strange or unconventional but you just feel like expressing this and that it’s genuine? I know it’s a bit vulnerable, we are afraid of being rejected or ridiculed?
      Where do you live, maybe there are cultural considerations? I would just try it and see what happens. Especially if you preface it

    • @universaltruth2025
      @universaltruth2025 2 года назад

      @@drpamelamozingo4079 I live in New Zealand so that might explain it somewhat. Most people generally aren’t that verbally expressive about our feelings. So it probably does differ to how it is in the US or other countries. We’ll express things on special occasions like weddings or funerals but not so much on a day to day basis.
