I want more games like Deus Ex: HR and the Mass Effect series. Games that have stories that invest me so much that I can't help but marvel at what I have just played when the end credits roll.
I've given up hope on BioWare. Mankind Divided's storytelling doesn't seem all that good either plus its cliffhanger ending. Gameplay in Mankind Divided seems stellar though.
The story and the themes from this game can make a great movie. Some of these themes were explored in Elysium. However, it was not near as in-depth and complex as Deus EX:HR. I think the themes are absolutely suitable for a movie (humanity vs. technology, augmentations and machine ethics, the social structure of humanity, rich vs. poor, regulations vs. free market, operations with consent vs. operations without consent, and the manipulation of information and crowd control). I really love games that respect me as an adult gamer. You can still throw some childish writing at me here and there, but overall, I demand well-planned plots and exceptional characterization.
The themes would make a great movie, but we already have a great game with them. The game did the story amazingly well, so making a movie to create a similar effect would be redundant. I'm not against it though, seeing as it would be cool to see a movie like it.
I think the problem I'd see with this is that Deus Ex let you dig around, there were whole side quests about things like augmentations harming people, but you had to dig to find these things, a luxury movies can't afford. Deus Ex let's you see the benefits, and harm, of the augs, then at the end, it asks you "What's your opinion?" in that final choice, you get to decide the better choice. That's why I think it should remain a game thing. :D
mmm i think it can do that, theirs this movie called children of man directed by alfonso cuaron and the way he used camera depth and visual orientation made it so we can have different perspective on things trough out the movie. go see it worth the detour
First part immediately brings to my mind music from both Gladiator and Mass Effect 2. Fantastic piece of music, when I heard it first time after beating the game I was awestruck.
Games like Deus Ex, Bioshock Infinte and especially The Last of Us aren't just good games. Their honestly one of the best experiences I've ever had. Games like these should be more popular then other poor shooters on the market.
It was for the greater good. To keep the proverbial match from lighting the powder keg; self sacrifice was the only option. I never asked for this. I just did what I had to do.
This soundtrack really brings out the game, it just helps the atmosphere so much. Not only is this one of the best soundtracks in the game industry, but Deus Ex: Human Revolution itself, with very deep and interesting story, is one of the TOP games of past years. Good job Eidos.
Truly an anthem to human triumph... So full of passion, ambition and strenght; makes me lift my head up high and smile towards our inevitable destiny ! Whatever dark tones there are, they only serve as to contrast and reinforce our resolve : to break away all limits and reach true freedom - of mind and body !
I pretty much agree with what you exactly except I've not tried those other titles. HR is such a deep and beautifully polished game and all in all is perfectly executed.
I chose the self destruct ending. And that nearly killed me with the cutscene. And then the credits music just kicked me in the nuts..... This games is a masterpiece
A masterpiece is a strong word, but when it comes to story and music, the game was remarkable. My only wish is that there was more freedom in playing the game the way you wanted. It rewarded sneaky more than deadly, but only deadly was useful in the main encounters.
Human Revolution is the best game i've ever played. It's on par with Dark Forces, Dark Forces 2, Republic Commando, Deus Ex, Neverwinter Nights, Baldur's Gate. But for me it's just the best fucking story in a video game. No matter what people say, for me this will be a benchmark for future video game stories. It will be a benchmark for story, music, and atmosphere. Because it is impeccable. It is a masterpiece of our times.
I think they undersold the game when I finally got it. I've beat it 5 times before I bought it and how much was it? It was $15 at target. It's the same at mostly everywhere.
I like Deus Ex human revolution was pretty good and i loved it. But i still consider the original Deus Ex as my favorite FPS of all times, maybe because of the nostalgia from the 90s...
There might be a Ghost in the shell movie coming soon .. and with The total recall remake we are getting close ;) but yeah I would love a Deus Ex movie.. although I don't know much about the first game.. I loved the style and tone in this one :)
There is many compromises in movies too, and multiple people work on it, but it's considered as an art. Same for orchestra's music. Many people working on a single music do compromises too, but in the end you get an art piece. No matter how much people worked on it, how much compromises have been made. Maybe you have your own definition.
Agreed they could have had all the combat of 3 in ME3 but kept all the choices and great stories of 1 with a little more interaction with Areas which you were in
Music is fucking awesome. I know that this came out before Halo 4 (obviously), but it has that kind of feel to it. Like it would go good with Halo 4 as well. Anyway, badass game /endings/music :)
Nice song. I have played deus ex since 2005 more or less (when i discover it) and I can say i should put it on my top3 (along with HL and SC) so good game. I like DE: HR too and this song is amazing. Continue the good work eidos montreal, do a remake of the first Deus ex!!
Heh, I was seriously considering the destruction ending, but in the end I just went with the Sarif one since I really like Jensen and wanted him to survive. Taggart is just a puppet of the Illuminati/corporations and Darrow's ending is non-canon to the original Deus Ex). Taking everyone out wouldn't accomplish much though, the Illuminati and their associates would just find ways to exert control with new players.
I think it's because film adaptations try to not be like the game which is most people's complaint, but they still do it. I guess no one ever tried to just keep it like the game with story and setting and events? I haven't seen anything like that probably because I might as well play the game or the game might as well be a movie instead.
The problem is you simply can't take everything from the game and put it in a movie, it just doesn't work(for them). And when they try to create their own stuff they fuck it up because it's not their storyline, it's not their creation or imagination. Any good writer/director makes their own storyline, or takes inspiration(superhero movies) and that's what makes the movie good.
let's not fight over which game is better, better enjoy both and agree that they are awesome. (however, I still think the first Deus ex is the best Deus ex.)
@S4v4r I wouldn't call it a better game, Mass Effect was far superior in terms of characters, voice-acting, animations, graphics, lore etc... Still, this game amazed me, even with its flaws.
+Rakven This would be awesome indeed, but I won't recommend them for the full soundtrack though ^^ Unless they would succeed in keeping this kind of atmosphere :)
+Maciej Wilamowski I mean I already like the atmosphere of the musics of Deus Ex, Tron was different to me as it needed a rebirth, which is not exactly the case for Deus Ex, they already have a style to thrive on. Nevertheless, for a movie adaptation, that'd be perfect ^^
I want more games like Deus Ex: HR and the Mass Effect series. Games that have stories that invest me so much that I can't help but marvel at what I have just played when the end credits roll.
+rehpotsirhic I agree...... ;D
Agreed. Hopefully Deus Ex Mankind Divided and ME Andromeda can match the greatness that Deus Ex HR and the ME trilogy were
I've given up hope on BioWare. Mankind Divided's storytelling doesn't seem all that good either plus its cliffhanger ending.
Gameplay in Mankind Divided seems stellar though.
***** After playing Mankind Divided I'll agree the story sucks compared to the previous game. Now they're just DLC and sequel baiting
But.... it does not suck as much as ME Andromeda..... sigh, a pretty game Andromeda is, to bad the story is so.....boring.

A movie was gonna be made based on HR but it was canned - search it up...
Amen
This is one of greatest fucking games I have ever played. Don't let us down Mankind Divided...
How do you like Mankind Divided so far? I've played for about an hour and I am still super excited
I love it!
This didn't age well.

As soon as I heard this music and saw this picture along side it, I knew I had to play this game...

Michael McCann is simply a genius.
I bought the game last week... and i LOVED IT !
You know... more people need to play these kind of games. Pure art in form of eletronic entertainment.
Games like Deus Ex, Bioshock Infinte and especially The Last of Us aren't just good games. Their honestly one of the best experiences I've ever had. Games like these should be more popular then other poor shooters on the market.
Such an idiotic fool and bad gamer you are... Pathetic and disgusting.
It was for the greater good. To keep the proverbial match from lighting the powder keg; self sacrifice was the only option. I never asked for this. I just did what I had to do.
But now that is the canon ending for mankind divided and Jensen actually survived, but was the only one.
no no, in the new trailer sarif sends Jensen a mail and wants to meet.
Soooooo underrated
91/100 on metacritic = underrated?
Viktor Frankling The soundtrack
+aperturesciencegames I see. Maybe it is.
Viktor Frankling The game is kind of underrated as well, Seriously, where the hell is that sequel
The original Deus Ex from 2000 is technically a sequel because it takes place after Human Revolution. I get what you're saying though.
This game is so good, and bring some ethic question. A real master piece

This is a loveley, haunting track and finishes the game perfectly, particularly if you have chosen a darker or self sacrificial ending.
I need an in-ear speaker augmentation so I can listen to this all the time.

Listing to this brings a tear to my eye! Deus Ex is one of the best games I have ever had the honor to play.
in 2021 it still brings tear to my eyes

Deus Ex Human Revolution should win the music award of all time!!!
This sounds like Groove Addicts - Interstellar with a Deus Ex twist on it.
I gotta know what the translated lyrics to this track are. Do they sound like latin to anybody else? Can't find the lyrics on any other site
